Adelaide’s Hill’s cool climate provides the ideal conditions to produce outstanding wine varieties. Spend a relaxed day touring through the beautiful landscapes, sampling top-quality local cuisine and tasting some of the famous wines produced from the surrounding hills. Spend a little time in Hahndorf, a popular bustling village of beauty and architecture that is steeped in history. With its Fachwerk buildings and elm-lined streets, combined with a contemporary dining scene and quality stores, it is a little gem tucked into the Adelaide Hills.
If it’s the delightful blend of vineyards and beach you’re seeking, look no further than the dynamic region of McLaren Vale. Only a 40 km trip south of Adelaide’s CBD, this area marks the origin of South Australia’s rich winemaking history and is a hotspot for luxury Bed and Breakfasts, art, and world-class restaurants.
The region’s Mediterranean climate lends itself to the production of exquisite red and white wines, with Shiraz hitting the mark here. However, be sure to try Grenache which is quickly making a name for itself as a single varietal and lends itself to almost any occasion.
With over 30km of coastline to marvel at, fresh and vibrant local produce and the feeling that you’re a million miles away from city life, McLaren Vale is a region with many faces, each one of them captivating.
Grenache, Cabernet, and emerging Italian and Spanish varieties such as Fiano, Vermentino, Tempranillo and Sangiovese give a Mediterranean twist to this remarkable region, with warm summers and low rainfall.
There are over 80 boutique cellar doors in McLaren Vale, so sit back and relax as we showcase wineries according to your tastes, and introduce you to the sea and vines region of South Australia.

Roger shared his knowledge of the Barossa and wine, which allowed me to look at wine from a different point of view and make better selections. For me, a highlight of the tour was our visit to Corryton Burge. Wow! What a beautiful place! The wines are just as beautiful. I had a wonderful day and I couldn't wait to tell my family what fun I had.
Roger, thank you!
A great experience which will be remembered!

Our trip to the Barossa Valley was most enjoyable. We visited places I didn't know existed.
The wine tastings were well organised as was the chocolate factory. Lunch at Stockwell Hotel was great. Maggie Beers Farm was the highlight for me as well as the Last Drop Winery, home of Mothers Milk Shiraz.
Roger assisted in taking group photos and even agreed to be in some of them.
Even though I have been to the Barossa Valley many times this was still well worth doing.

Extremely informative throughout the day.
One of THE BEST tours we have had in our worldwide travels.

He was fantastic with communication in the lead-up, helping to plan our itinerary and ensuring the timing at each venue ran smoothly. Roger was punctual, professional, and very knowledgeable about the regions.
He also happily took group photos for us throughout the tour, which was very kind.
Highly recommend Roger for anyone looking for a reliable, friendly, and well-organised driver for a wine tour in SA!

to fully customise our itinerary. We chose to visit a diverse selection of wineries inbcluding Yaldara, Yalumba, Rusden and Seppeltsfield Road Distillers, allowing us to appreciate the different styles and nuances of Barossa Valley wines, as well as a stop at the Maggie Beer Farm for lunch, and a number of lookouts and points of interest in the region.
Our lovely guide Di had an expert knowledge of the local area, and made this tour an unforgettable experience. We were not only treated to an array of outstanding wines but also given insights into the region's unique history and culture. Di's attention to detail and warm, friendly demeanor made us feel well looked after, and she ensured we had a fantastic and memorable day out. She even bought us cookies!
Our tour in the Barossa Valley was an absolute delight and we would happily book with Ambler again to try some of the venues we missed. We highly recommend this experience to anyone seeking a truly immersive and memorable wine journey in one of Australia's most renowned wine regions. Thank you to Di and Roger for curating a perfect day and for looking after us!
