Banrock Station is a true hidden gem. The place is spectacular — peaceful views, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxing atmosphere. The dishes are amazing, full of flavor and thoughtfully prepared. You might need to wait a little longer since they don’t have a big team in the kitchen, but it’s well worth it. The service is excellent — friendly and attentive.

It’s a perfect spot for people living in the Riverland who want a quality dining experience without having to travel all the way to Barossa or Adelaide. Definitely worth checking out.

We visited Banrock Station in December 2024, leading up to the New Years celebrations. What a phenomenal place!

The setting is absolutely beautiful, with a hell of a strong picturesque game that would feature on the cover of a magazine every day of the week!

The staff were very attentive. We booked in advance which I would highly recommend. The wines we tried were stunning, a sparkling Shiraz and a rose. Really good quality and super tasty.

The food was fantastic; the roast pumpkin pizza was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Then we took a walk down near the vineyards and it was next level. Just the grounds, the scenery...it was all breathtaking.

Absolutely loved it. You must check it out!

Extremely sad to see the menu change taking away many of the fantastic kids meal options & the starters like the warm potato salad ect. Was very disappointing coming back after a brilliant experience only last month leaving raving about how fantastic the kids menu was and the ability to choose multiple starters to share amongst the table. Disappointing change. And being charged $5 for a can of coke. We left & did not order.

Lunch experience Scenery fantastic but food below par. We ordered the salt and pepper squid and the chicken Caesar salad. The chips and salad with the squid was good, but the squid itself had a doughy, not crispy, coating. The Caesar salad was disappointing- we sent it back as the bacon was not cooked (menu said crispy!) and the chicken schnitzel was cold and doughy. The staff did regift the salad- the bacon was better but the chicken was still not great. We did really enjoy the view and our wine. If we go back again we would be happy to have a drink in the beautiful deck but probably won’t eat there again.

We called in to the vineyard to see the winery and Wetland Centre as we were travelling East. The setting is amazing.
We were served by friendly, welcoming Kasey and later joined by the Manager Ronnie. The wetland area and commitment to the care for the environment and respect for traditional knowledge was very evident
Wish I was still here for the 4 October when the water will be re- entering the Wetlands - would be spectacular!

Great view with yummy pizza for lunch Great customer service and sitting outside at the deck for lunch + amazing views of the wetland (dryland in Sept) . A group of children enjoyed their walk and coming to the restaurant laughing and chatting - so energetic ! :)

Lunch at Banrock. Banrock station is well worth a visit. Staff were courteous, light meals were tasty and well presented. Some members did wine tasting and purchased wine to take home. The general environment was very relaxing.

A delightful day with friends. Oh so helpful staff assisting on wine selections. Meals were flavoursome and more than enough to satisfy any hunger pangs. Atmosphere great. Views magnificent. Left feeling satiated.

The long wait Problem one, it took more than twenty minutes in a line to order food. Problem two, staff didn’t warn that there was a staff shortage which would cause lengthy delays. We admired the outlook, and watched the sun move overhead until our table was completely shaded which isn’t a brief process. Problem three, after being ignored for 75 minutes my husband enquired if our order would be honoured, the reply was, in five minutes. Problem four, the food did not arrive in five minutes. Fifteen minutes later we were served the entree. Ninety minutes for a simple appetiser which was mainly bread. Problem five, ten minutes later, the other two courses were served together. Eating the fish first meant the ribs went cold. We asked for two boxes to pack the salads so we could leave. Our appetites had abandoned us. The extra kicker is that customers who ordered their food at least 45- 60 minutes after we did, received their meal five minutes after ours. Problem six, staff untrained or unwilling to address the situation. The last time we ate in a restaurant that lacked enough staff ( in Venice) they apologised up front, explained the issue then poured us champagne and brought bread to the table to smooth the delay. A more honest and respectful way to treat a customer. Eating at Banrock was a poor dining experience, one of the worst for service.

Put it on your list We had never heard of Banrock Station wetland centre till a friend recommended it after he heard we were planning a trip to SA. So glad he did. We took a nature walk here, tasted some wines and also had lunch. Every experience was first-rate. Some of the walking tracks were closed when we visited because recent floods had washed tracks and boardwalks away, but we still had a very enjoyable walk into the centre of the wetland (now dry), where we we overwhelmed by the shoulder-high sea of the brilliantly red knotweed (a native plant, not really a weed!). Next, the wine tasting was great, too. Liked everything we tasted on the tasting flights and there were some special cleanskins where we could taste without a fee. These were great too - took away a dozen of an excellent Langhorne Creek shiraz at an very hard to beat price of just $84. We lunched on the pizza and a burger and chips. Both substantial and excellent. They basically saw us through the rest of the day. One last word of warning: we had a bit of trouble finding the place and one of the women working here said Google Maps persisted in sending visitors to the place next door, despite Google being told of the problem. So, be warned.

Menu had terrible spelling. I had high expectations from their reputation. I booked the mothers day breakfast online. Upon arriving I had to order again anyway. I only had one request, no alcohol, but the alcohol advertisement was still put on my reserved table. Breakfast itself was ok, but nothing special, bacon wasn't even crispy. The walk on the property was a redeemer.

A must stop over to visit this wonderful place. A Gem!! Beautiful views, great walking trails, friendly staff and food was amazing. Such a talented chef!!

Banrock's best of the Riverland experience We opted for the "best of the Riverland" food experience for $40 p/p, with a shared starter of bread and fishfingers, 2 salads and 2 mains of pork and fish. All dishes were very tasty, and portion sizes generous. For the price we paid, it was great value for money as well. Wish the dessert selection was more exciting though. With the gorgeous views, this place is hard to beat!

Banrock Station I have passed many times and I finally made the stop. The setting overlooking the wetland area in the Riverland is so very different from the other wine regions of SA and was a worthwhile detour. Two different tastings are offered for a modest charge being the Banrock core range or a more elevated range. The tasting was quite basic but still enjoyable. Lunch on the outdoor terrace was wonderful with the view of the vineyards and wetlands.

Open for breakfast and lunch with awesome views and a walking trail. Staff are very welcoming and there is a nice selection of wines for tasting and purchase. A must visit on your way through. Don't be put off by the long dusty driveway, it's worth the trip.

Popped in on our our way west. We'd booked the non-alcoholic degustation plate. This is a new thing they are doing which pairs 3 food tasters paired with their 3 non-alcoholic wines. (Sparkling, Chardonnay and Shiraz) The food tasted great and the wines surprisingly good. We bought a bottle of the sparkling to take home.
There's a nice atmosphere to the place with children catered for without being too kid focused. I got the impression they prefer bookings but we're able to cope with walk ins.

The wetlands below have kilometres of walks which you can do. There's a sign suggesting a gold coin donation for them.
And there's a turtle in the entrance area which is fun to watch.

If we're passing through we would consider stopping again.

A beautiful destination. Food was amazing and a great price. The service was very nice and caring. There were lovely things in the gift shop too. The only downfall is that the walk isn’t completely open due to the floods but it was still a great experience

Banrock Station was visited for morning coffee whilst staying in the area. A very modern and slick facility, the seating area offers excellent views across the river floodplain which includes a number of walking trails accessible on the property. The cafe is a lovely space to take in the scenery, although it does become quite busy. The coffee was good but, on our visit, there were minimal gluten free options to accompany. Surprising, as SA is usually really good in that regard.

We had a very friendly reception when we arrived and a delicious breakfast. The outlook is lovely and staff attentive. We have been several times and always had very good meals.

Signage and features of the wetland walks are in need of repair.
The $10 fee to try 4 wines would appear to be targeted at the large tour buses they attract, but sweeps up individuals and families as well.

My mom came to Riverland to Travel with me. She was a first-time visit to Winery in Australia. At reasonable prices, you can eat the main dish like a course from an appetizer. I'm glad that I could sample all kinds of wines by adding reasonable prices. My mother especially liked this wine tasting and 2 kinds of salad.

When they are busy, be a little patient and you will be rewarded. Great food. Great coffee. An abundance of great wines to taste and purchase. Great staff. Keep up the good work. We had coffee & cake, a light (yet delicious) lunch, and a tasting flight. Leaving very satisfied.

Wouldnt go back. Beautiful spot but the food was a real disappointment. Ordered burger. Meat was obviously precooked and dry and bacon n undercooked.

We thought choosing the Banrock Best of the Riverland would be a great way to sample the range of menu items on offer. We weren't disappointed! We were impressed by the bar staff member who was extremely helpful, but more was to come. When the kitchen staff member brought our meals out, she took time to explain each course without us asking.
The bar staff member was prepared to change the wine pairing option to suit our desire to have zero alcohol wines and explained each of them in detail.
The reports we had heard and read about the centre were validated by our experience, and definitely due to the genuine enthusiasm and knowledge of the staff on the day.

Lovely meal had by all for the special friend's early 60th birthday.

We come here most years for our wedding anniversary and we love it! The food is sensational, the service is so warm and friendly, the atmosphere is amazing, and the scenery is spectacular.
Highly recommend taking the time out to enjoy this little corner of the Riverland if you're passing by!

Fabulous outlook from veranda Lunch stop between Adelaide and Renmark. Fabulous outlook for the restaurant. Lovely quiet of the mallee bush somewhat marred by music playing. Would rather listen to birds and the breeze thru the scrub. Food excellent as usual , esp chefs specials.

The views were lovely, and the wine was nice. Our food was terrible though. A ‘brisket burger’ was an overcooked patty on a tip top bun, and the pizza was on a store bought base with pre grated cheese that had not melted. For that price I expect things to be made in house and cooked properly.

Absolutely wonderful day had by myself and my wife, great venue and even better hospitality.
The staff are amazing and a credit to the establishment.

Wetland Wonderland Our walk around the outstanding wetland at Banrock was limited due to recent flooding making all of the boardwalks and access to the river side unavailable. We still enjoyed the extensive birdlife and some roos enjoying their nirvana though. Lunch on the extensive terrace was excellent and highly recommended. We have tasted better wines than Banrock's wine tasting offer, but there are some great value for money (cheaper) options here. Indeed their gift shop and visitor centre are worth the visit alone.

Spectacular views We recently visited Banrock Station again after a 20 year hiatus. Went for the walk around the wetlands only to find the floods have uplifted the boardwalks, we were still able to get down to the wetlands and see the birds and stunning scenery. Stayed for morning tea and scones and left with wine. Amazing helpful staff, beautiful location, keep supporting our Riverland tourism post floods.

Beautiful locale, fantastic view, great service, food was awesome, coffee reasonable (room for improvement but still enjoyable), and dessert menu looked delectable (though we didn’t have room for dessert this time!), and love their commitment to sustainable management of the environment.

Great Venue for a delightful lunch Have visited Banrock Station a number of times over the last few years and it is indeed a very beautiful venue with spectacular views and friendly welcoming staff. One of the few must visit restaurants in the Riverland which is fairly close to Barmera. Great service and great food. There is opportunity for post lunch activities with bushwalk trails along the adjacent wetlands.

Love visiting this winery, great environment, food and service! The share platters are delicious and so much value for money.

Must try the Crimson Cabernet and Tawny!! Love it..never a time that we don't walkout without 2 boxes!!

RELAXING LUNCH My great boss took us over to Banrock for Christmas Lunch which was absolutely delightful. Food was great, wine fabulous, friendly staff and the view spectacular. Was a great afternoon. Highly recommended

Interesting stop for a coffee break or light meal This restaurant is situated on a hill overlooking wetlands. A number of walks are on offer and these are well designed and maintained. Unfortunately the wetlands are dry at the moment and so bird life is not as abundant as I expected. We also got mobbed by mosquitoes and so cut our walk short. We chose three items from the smaller plates menu for lunch. Garlic bread with cheese, tomato and basil was a great garlic Turkish bread but it only had a scattering of cherry tomatoes on top. A beetroot, feta and walnut salad was delicious and a highlight. The marinated octopus was tough and unappetising and we returned it. We chose the baked Camembert to replace it. This was a small round cheap Camembert with a clove of garlic on top. We were given some lavosh when we asked for something to eat it with. There were burgers and pizzas on offer and we may have been better off choosing these The coffee was great, the wines were not to my taste but the service was outstanding - friendly and efficient. A neighbouring table was enjoying scones, jam and cream and this looked wonderful.

Has brekkie and wines tasting in Banrock. Nice and affordable wines. Lynette, Nun and kitchen staff was all lovely. Not the fine dining experience but I love the genuine interactions. End up buying 11 bottles.

Delicious coffee! A quick mid morning stop to have a coffee and enjoy the view of the wetlands. Served by a friendly staff member. Wished we could have stayed for lunch, menu looked amazing! Great place to walk into the wetlands( have done this on a previous occasion!)

Nice Cupio rosé Didn’t really have great expectations but the lunch was quite enjoyable and despite the fact the wine is not the type we want, I’d still recommend a visit when in the Riverland as the setting is pretty good and food is slightly better than, or at least even with, bistro food. The pork belly looked a bit pedestrian but we had no qualms about the taste and cooking. The ‘Beef Wellington’ was a bit misleading but the deconstructed nature of it actually couldn’t have been better. The piece of meat was cooked perfectly - sure it looked like ‘meat and mushrooms on a plate’, and to be honest it was, but it was pretty good meat and mushrooms on a plate!!!!!! The tapas options were a bit standard though and not that imaginative but the octopus was very nice especially enjoyed with the rosé. Cupio rosé is very drinkable if you are worried about the wine quality!!! Would be good to visit in warmer weather and sit outside to compare the experience.

Good but not great Stopped in for lunch with a small group on our way to the Barossa, we’ve been for lunch and tastings in the past at Banrock Station and have always thoroughly enjoyed! Unfortunately, this time that wasn’t the case. We all ordered at the same time and while I waited patiently for my lunch to be served it became apparent, I had been forgotten about, as a few of the others on the table had just about finished their meals, one of the girls behind the bar inside was very helpful trying to chase up my meal when I questioned how much longer it may be. When it arrived the lamp rump (not cheap) was cold and raw on the inside and appeared to have only been seared on the outside. I sent this back and waited another 20 minutes for a new one. I would probably not be writing this review today had I received any of the basic hospitality 101’s, with no apology as to its whereabouts or lateness nor the offer of any sort of compensation for having to send my already late meal back. Thankfully many other of the meals on the table were good but we won’t be rushing back anytime soon.

Great venue and food Stopped past here after the Berri Lawn Tennis Tournament and enjoyed the boardwalk, then coffee and scones. Will definately be back for the main menu and wine. I was so relaxed sitting outside. Just wonderful. The menu looked amazing.

The most delicious breakfast EVER My DIL, little granddaughter and myself went to Banrock Winery for breakfast today and not only was the food utterly delicious but we had an exceptional experience. The thought that went into my granddaughter’s lunch was incredibly sweet, making a little plate of food for her teddy, giving her a pink cup, the tasting plate was so lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic!!! What a day. Can’t wait to go back!! And soon!!!

Conservation and cuisine Firstly, Banrock Station are to be commended on their preservation of the wetlands. Secondly, we made a booking for lunch but were a little disappointed with the lack of choices with the main meals. Upon enquiry, we were informed that the number of kitchen staff was down due to covid. This is not uncommon in the hospitality industry, so we were okay with it. There were plenty of choices to make a grazing platter and we took that option and were not disappointed with the quality of the food. Wine by the bottle is extremely cheap and we were able to take the unfinished bottle with us.

Beautiful for a Picnic We ordered the picnic package. We went for a walk around th wetlands and the food was very generous and delicous! It even included a wine of your own choice! So you can drink your favourite wine! (Highly recommend the tasting first, then a picnic so you can take your favourite!). Defintely check the weather, it was a bit hot the day we went, but they provide free sunscreen and bugspray at the counter which is a lovely touch. Will defintely come around when we are passing again!

Wetlands drained as of March 2022 Early March 2022. A review of the Wetlands walks. Every two years the wetlands are drained for 6 months. There was no advice of this on the Web Site. We were looking forward to visiting the Ramsar site. Not a drop of water, the only birds magpies and crows. We did 8km of walking. Friendly staff, apologised for no notification re draining of the wetlands. I fully understand why draining occurs but I feel the site should advise when the wetlands will be dry. Cost per adult to walk the trails is $10.

Good food, great views We headed out here after a recommendation from the Berri Estates staff. The winery is just off the highway in a beautiful natural bush setting. Although we didn’t taste any of the wine, they also have products from the local brewery and distilleries. We had a couple of beers on the terrace overlooking the river valley and a salad. The menu was great with plenty of sharing plates but we’d already eaten not long before. It was a scorching hot day so we didn’t take advantage of the available walk down into the valley but just enjoyed the cool breeze on the balcony. It’s a beautiful spot and well worth a stop, especially for a meal. Highly recommended.
