Sea…the other side of Albany!
There’s no better way to experience summer in Albany than by boat. Albany is home to pristine beaches, turquoise waters and the most beautiful bays in Australia.
Smell the sea in the air and get the wind in your hair as we cruise around Princess Royal Harbour and King George Sound.
Situated in Princess Royal Harbour, part of King George Sound, these waters are steeped in history. Imagine what it would have been like when the first explorers pulled into the harbour as early as 1627 or when the first ANZAC troops departed Albany for WWI in 1914. Cast yourself back in time to the days of the old whaling ships and see the Whaling Station in Frenchman Bay and the shipwreck of the Cheynes II, a 440 ton steam whale chaser.
Our boat is the “Young Salty Dog”, a twin hull catamaran and an ex Sea Rescue vessel that is safe and stable. Holding up to 12 passengers, Captain Mark Muscat will give you a personalised tour of the harbour and King George Sound.
We’ll navigate through the Ataturk Channel, past Point King Lighthouse and Point Possession. You’ll see the ANZAC Centre on Mount Clarence from the sea. Out in the King George Sound you’ll gaze in awe at the beautiful turquoise waters of Mistaken Island. The amazing South Coast is renowned for its pristine white beaches and we cruise past Brambles, Whalers Cove/Fisheries (a local nudist beach), Goode and Middleton Beach in Princess Royal Harbour. We also see Camp Quaranup, built in 1875 as a quarantine station with a powder magazine built on Geake Island. Be reminded of whaling days gone by with a visit to an old shipwrecked Whale Chaser, the Cheynes II which broke its moorings and ran aground. It can be seen from the shores of Albany but it’s incredible to view up close and a photographers favourite.

The smaller group and boat just makes the experience more personal and I would recommend that over the bigger tour boats/groups.
Great afternoon out on the water.

Captain Mark has a very quirky sense of humour and ensured our tour was fun and very informative - the quiz adds a little competition to the experience 🥳
Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great but Captain Mark had us all entertained regardless and it’s very obvious he is very knowledgeable about the history of this beautiful place and has some fantastic photos he shared with the group
We all had a great time and would definitely recommend King George Sound Safari tours for anyone visiting Albany

Watching whales was one of our dreams.
When we saw Captain Mark's little boat compares to the big tourists boats, we thought we had to take our chance !
Unfortunately no whales or dolphins to be seen on this beautiful day, we cannot force nature But we had such an exquisite time thanks to Captain Mark who made our day !
We learned and laughed a lot !!
He kindly offered us to come back for free next time as we haven't seen any whales.
Thank you so much for this amazing experience we will never forget !
We will come back for sure, so see ya Captain Mark !
Frenchies Matthias and Marine

The highlight was standing up on the deck while dolphins swam mere feet from me in the water, following our boat!
Highly recommended~

Mark's knowledge of local attractions and information was very interesting.. I never knew that about that fine mineral sand and Olympics.. if you want to know you'll have to take the tour
Lots of Dolphins swimming and racing us then we saw the whalesSuch majestic creature's, Mark's keen eye spotted a few for us. We will definitely go again . Thanks again Mark.

We saw more than enough whales and had more than enough fun.
Thankyou!!!

I recommend this to anyone who wants to find out more about Albany.

If you weigh whales in a whale weigh station, where would you weigh a pie?
Go on Cap’n Marks safari, he’ll give you the answer!

Thanks so much Mark.

The boat was a great size - I personally like smaller boats as it feels more personal compared to the big boats you see offering similar experiences. Everyone on board had a great laugh and will never forget our time on the trip. We sat at the top of the boat which was great as you could see for miles!
Thank you Mark for giving us a truly memorable experience - oh and thanks for all the knowledgeable facts too ????
We will for sure book your trip again when we are next visiting Albany - Hopefully with more luck seeing Whales ????
Felt safe and supported by mark on the boat and relaxed to enjoy the time out on the water. My husband is prone to getting very sea sick but no issues on this occasion.
Mark has a dry sense of humour and relaxes everyone with his humour as well as being informative and interesting.
I thought we were going to miss out on seeing whales after about an hour on board. Saw some fur seals and a sea lion and then the whales turned up. Beautiful sharing amongst the passengers of sightings so all able to catch the beauty of these magnificent mammals.
I also saw dolphins on the way back to Albany.
Amazing morning that has been a highlight of our trip to WA.
Thanks Mark ????????

I rarely go out on boats and was happy to find this Safari because it was totally easy to book and go out on the water for whale and dolphin watching.
The boat feels easy to be on, has shelter from rain and sun and is able to get around all the places to see & learn about the environment & marine wildlife.
Captain Mark also shares fun facts, stories & history of this area in an easy upbeat way.
I would definitely do King George Safari again and see why it is such a great experience for visitors to Albany.
Loved this experience ????????

Mark knows his stuff and learnt some new history about Albany!
Mark has the dad jokes too ????

Very professional service and saw some magnificent whales breaching.
Will definitely be back again.
Thanks Captain Mark.

Cannot reccomend this tour enough, worth every penny and i will definitely be back.

Cannot reccomend this tour enough, worth every penny and i will definitely be back.

Captain Mark is an amazing person, very friendlysee you next time

If you forgot to book an whale watching sailing, try this one.
One is in the morning, the other is afternoon !!!
You can also enjoy and like it~!
Sadly we missed seeing whales but did spot a massive seal. Beautiful sea air and an awesome swing by the wreck of the Cheyenne II on our back into harbour was fascinating.
Mark was kind & knowledgeable & we have the option to go again to see whales on another day without having to pay again.
All in all a really great day which would have otherwise been pretty miserable & wet on land. Our 3 teenagers were not complaining about being bored and we all felt envigorated as we stepped off after the tour ended. Highly recommend. ????????????

Captain Mark is the lifeblood of this tour and one of the most humorous people I have ever met. This tour was the best laughs I have had in years.
Do yourself a favour and check this out.
P.s. please go to the toilet before leaving port and don’t gas up the cabin for 3 hours

The whales hid on the day we chose but we get to go again at no charge which is very generous.
Mark was kind, competent & knowledgeable. It was nice not to be in a huge group too - this one has plenty of room but feels intimate and friendly.
Very good value.
