Absolutely amazing trip!
Steve was so kind and relaxt, boatride was a bit bumpy but he warned us the day before so we could get some seasickness tablets. Felt safe the whole trip. Diving was out of this world. Both corals, clownfish, slugs, we saw turtle or two from the boat. Amazing sighting of a group of bronze whaler sharks. So exiting! On the way back humpbacks. Spacious boat and good dive instructor- Maria. A certain 5 stars for this trip.

Had a great time on the boat with the team of Subsurface Scuba! Maria guided us into a huge pod of gorgeous sharks and the care on the boat by Steve was great. This is not your regular commercial dive company. They took some detour time to watch the last migrating whales of the season. The morning was simply fantastic. Thanks a lot!!

My wife and I were cancelled by a different company, but it turned out to be a bit of serendipity because Captain Steve and his divemaster, whose name unfortunately escapes me, are both amazing people!

Steve's passion for the ocean and his friendly demeanor both on the phone and in person were immediately reassuring. He told us they do this because they love what they do and essentially the profit motive was secondary. This was well demonstrated throughout the trip. There was no rush, everything was done at a comfortable and safe pace, and we even took a break between the two dives to watch some whales that were putting on a show nearby.

Our divemaster was an extremely kind, knowledgeable, funny, reassuring, warm, and patient woman who led us, at times quite literally, by the hand through both dives. She took great care of us both so that we could focus on seeing some of the amazing plant and wildlife Australia has to offer. The cherry on top was hearing the whalesong while underwater- the kind of rare and fantastic experience you get to take with you forever.

10/10 experience, thank you both again!

Genuinely the best scuba charter I have been on, I did my advanced open water course with them my instructor Nathan was very good, and helped me get to advanced. Steve the captain was friendly and helpful and the price was much lower compared to competitors. I highly recommend starting and continuing your dive journey with Sub surface scuba as the crew was very friendly and experienced. We even saw humpback whales

Great experience for my son doing his Padi Junior Advanced Open Water certification. Steve and Aggie were extremely encouraging, knowledgeable and safety conscious and the dives were fantastic, seeing sharks, rays and lots of fish, with bonus whale watching on the way back. Highly recommend

We had a great time. He was very helpful and accommodating. A really great trip.
The only thing that would have made it five stars would be a better snorkel mask. I don’t know why, but it seems like every snorkeling trip I’ve been on, about one and three people have a mask that just leaks water all the time. We switched one mask between people and it leaked on everyone. It was a small leak and I could handle it. Still a great experience. I would go with them again.

Best day of my life. I have panic attacks doing simple things like climbing up a ladder, and yet today I felt confident and super calm with the crew in the water (and that’s saying something). Ivan’s gotta be the world’s best dive instructor, never met anyone with more patience!!! Life changing experience, ♾️/10

Completed the PADI open water course with my brother and had a wonderful experience. Steve and his team are very knowledgeable and experienced and we felt relaxed and comfortable the whole time. They didn't overload the boat with divers and allowed us to take our time and enjoy. Would recommend for those looking to complete the course and/or going for a dive!

We had a family scuba trip booked for 4. We booked it knowing that weather might alter the booking.
Our day & dive location was changed for safety & we got the best experience ever!
We had our own instructor Josh & rescue assistant Kiara. I had 2 panic moments, but Josh (the GOAT) was so kind & kept me calm. If not for him I wouldn't missed out on one of the most incredible experiences of my life!
My daughters (14 &12) haven't stopped raving about how truly incredible it was.

It was a great experience. This was my second time diving and I felt very comfortable once we were in the water. They went through all the safety concerns on our way out, and then we did our short training session beside the boat before going down 10 meters.

I finally got to enjoy the thrill of experiencing my first introductory scuba dive, and it was absolutely incredible! I was pretty nervous initially but the staff from Subsurface Scuba made me feel at ease from the very beginning. My awesome dive instructor was very knowledgeable and provided me with thorough instructions and a safety briefing on board before taking the plunge. The actual dive was incredible and I felt safe the entire time while exploring what felt like another world! I would highly recommend trying an introductory scuba dive, even if you’ve never considered it before. It’s an amazing experience and I’ll definitely be back for another dive in the future.

We went with Subsurface today. They were super friendly, really helpful and well prepared. The dive masters were knowledgeable, patient(!) and hard working. The boat itself was ideal - roomy with plenty of room for tanks and other equipment - out of the way but easy to access. The crew did all the pre-prep and checks, so although we repeated the checks for ourselves, it was easy and reassuring. Some of the equipment isn’t as new as elsewhere in the Sunshine Coast but all perfectly serviceable. All in all a great day for a mixed group of experienced divers, those doing their quals and some snorkelers. Thanks Steve and team!

Best dive company I’ve used on the Sunshine Coast Booked online and got a double dive plus full equipment hire at a rate lower than other shops around here. The owner, Steve was professional and had a fun approach. Everything ran smoothly for me. The was only one other diver who was doing a course but they had some personal problems and didn’t want to continue diving. That left just myself and the dive master. Biscuits, tea and coffee were offered after the dive. The equipment was good quality and well looked after. Unfortunately due to weather we rebooked the second dive for another day. That day was even better. The Sunshine Coast is notorious for tropical storms and rough weather so it makes sense to put safety first and cancel dives if need be. I always got updates the day before the planned dives whether it was on or not. Highly recommend Steve and Subsurface Scuba for recreational divers living on the coast or holidays makers here for a good amount of time.

MONEY HUNGRY AND YELLS AT CUSTOMERS RUDE MAN!! BEWARE I don’t usually do negative reviews but I feel I have to warn people. I’ve been wanting to scuba dive and thought Australia would be perfect place. I was excited to find someone who said they were good with beginners, advertised as no experience needed, however that was NOT the case with Scuba Steve. Upon arrival, he was going back and fourth with the other girls on the boat that they needed to pay more for two dives, as the advertised price was wrong online, he already seemed money hungry from the start. I was literally only able to do 10 min in the water before I found out scuba diving was not for me. I stayed on the boat and kept to myself for the next 4 hours, sea sick and regretful. I assumed that of course he would give me a discount as I was only in the water 10 minutes if not less, I used hardly any air or any of their time once I got sick. He agreed and told me he would discuss it later. When I called him he said he would give me $50 back which was not a lot since I spent 230$. Although I didn’t feel that was fair to charge me for two dive sessions, when I hadn’t even done one, I just wanted to get back whatever I could. When I called him to initiate charge back he changed his mind . He started to yell over me and would not even let me talk. Saying that there was nothing he could do, and going back on what he had originally said. We both know he could have easily given me back a measly 50$ back, but he refused and accused me of using all the air and said I got what I paid for, what a joke. I have never dealt with someone so unreasonable. How can you go back on your word like that? He made a lot of money on me considering I hardly did anything. I thought he would do the right thing since I did not get the experience I paid for. Steve has no customer service skills. He is strictly there to make as much money as possible. He knows he treated me unfairly and the cherry on the Sunday was being yelled at by a grown man. That is not how you treat customers. SHAME ON YOU STEVE!

On a side note I feel as though Mel was professional, patient, and sweet. I hope he doesn’t yell at her like he yelled at me on the phone.

BEWARE!!! I paid for 10 dives and only did 2
(all other dives cancelled due to adverse weather conditions).

The 2 dives that did occur were great and our French dive guide was brilliant.

I have been unable to contact the owner Steve, and have had no response regarding a refund for the 8 dives that did not happen (despite numerous texts, emails, FB posts etc)

Steve has completely ghosted me and still owes over $1000.
I will be taking this to the small claims court.

I did the open water diver certification course with subsurface scuba and it was a blast. The team is incredibly helpful, informative, and friendly. Everyone on the boat was always very approachable and keen for a chat, and the dive instructors were great teachers, very helpful, patient, and great vibes. I got to see some really cool aquatic life on my dives too, would definitely recommend.

Shame about the service Do NOT trust Subsurface Scuba; they lie to and take advantage of their customers. I accepted a rescheduled dive date to suit Subsurface Scuba not me. I paid for 3 dives and only got 2. Poor excuse given. I was promised a refund for the third dive. Despite repeated requests I have not even been shown the courtesy of a reply. I can see that other customers have received this same poor and shonky treatment. DO NOT USE Subsurface Scuba."

I had an incredible experience diving with Subsurface Scuba. The team was not only fun, helpful, and kind but also excellent teachers. Doing my PADI Open Water with them is a great and rewarding adventure. Highly recommend!

Stay away from this dive company. We scheduled, and prepaid for 2 dive days. We scheduled a 3 tank dive ($300aud) with sunset cruise which includes food the day before Christmas, and another 2 tank dive.($250aud) for the day after Christmas. The weather reported a storm coming in for the first dive, so we were told when we arrived that it would only be a 2 tank dive. We were taken to a nearby island for two murky dives. You can't control the weather, right? No big deal. I thought it was weird that my dive guide didn't want to sign my dive log, and they couldn't upload the photos they had taken during the dive. I left my gear with them as we were diving two days later (after Christmas) and we were notified Christmas night that the 2 tank dive was cancelled, again for weather. We asked how to get our gear back as we had to get to Sydney to leave our vacation and Steve didn't respond until 11am the next day. He said he would issue a refund as we were leaving the country, but now it's been a month and he won't return my emails or calls. There is no dive shop, only a boat at the marina. Super shady business man. Also, the weather was beautiful the day after Christmas. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems as though he cancels a lot. I would not encourage anyone to risk their money with Subsurface Scuba.

My partner and I did the scuba Sunshine Coast. We had originally booked the year before but it was cancelled because of bad weather. Steve was extremely helpful when we called back up a year later to reschedule and got us on a dive asap. Everyone was great and the diving instructors were really welcoming and professional. Would highly recommend and there were good vibes onboard.

Do not believe bad reviews. I was hesitant as I attempted my open water 25 years ago and just freaked. Very professional and organised. They took the time to ensure I felt safe and adjusted as needed to fit with the group. Thank you very much for the patience. I felt very safe. Kass

What an amazing experience going out with Scuba Steve today! Steve is a lovely soul and full of stories! Ask him about sharks and you're guaranteed a good yarn!
We got to snorkel with turtles and saw so many beautiful fish. Personally I am quite afraid of boats and the ocean but he made us all feel safe and comfortable. Comfortable enough for me to decide to jump in and actually snorkel at the end of the day! The kids decided last minute that they would like to scuba dive and the crew was prepared. I didn't think a 13 and 14year old could just up and learn to dive but they were truly professional about it and bang the kids were doing it!!!! How can you recommend a service and experience highly enough, when its a once in a lifetime experience ?? 10/10!!!

Loved our day out scuba diving!! Booked the intro scuba lesson and had the best time. Scuba Steve and the whole team were amazing. Special shout out to Marc and Josh who helped me through the challenges that come with diving for the first time. I felt so safe and supported the entire time and look forward to being back soon.

Scam scam

I paid $248 for two dives that never happened. I booked in for Tuesday then Wednesday then Thursday then Friday then Saturday.

Needless to say none of these dives happened.

Then I noticed a cancellation policy on the email he sent me with the receipt which was there is no refund.

It seems as guys a scammer and you advise stay well away from him. Possibly sometimes it goes out taking dives I don’t know. But if you’re on holiday visiting and you can’t reschedule forever do not give him your money.

Booked a dive with Scooba Steve and was not disappointed!! On the short trip out to the reef we were fortunate enough to spot whales ????, the water visibility was phenomenal which made memories forever looking at the schools of fish, beauty of the coral and the enjoyment of the sea turtles! All staff and other divers on the boat were fantastic, friendly and it was great vibes all around!

Had a great morning out with Subsurface Scuba. Steve is a real nice guy who made sure we had an enjoyable dive. I would dive again with Steve any day!

We went to swim with the nurse sharks and had a blast! 12+ sharks. Steve was great! He heard what we wanted and delivered!
Steve mentioned there was 12 booked originally but with the weather conditions he didn't want the boat crowded so put some off for the next day! We certainly felt the benefit of that .

Took one pool tutorial - 4 hrs - thats it! Course cost me $700, after deciding Scuba wasn't for me I attempted MULTIPLE times to obtain a PARTIAL refund. To receive $0 back. Kept getting the run around and ignored. Was a nightmare to try and find suitable dates with this lot - don't be fooled by their website calender availability. It's all BS!
Do yourself a favour- book with ANYONE ELSE! 1 4 hr pool tutorial for $700 - NEXT JOKE! Stephen Kerry - you need to get an administration team to support you and your business as your customer service SUCKS!

Had a great experience with the team!! My husband and I are both certified but first time we’ve taken our kids along. 15 & 13yrs and they were so pumped to be able to go down. Was really great to see how the instructors looked after the boys and made sure they had a fun & a safe time. Saw plenty of sharks which was super exciting!

I had my shark dive with Dave as my instructor. It was absolutely amazing. Saw just one shark. But there were heaps of fishes. Others in my boat saw more sharks. In short, it's all mother nature and totally unpredictable. But what counts that I had fun. Also, the captain, Steve, was very much accommodating. I would like to mention one more thing for those who want to do the shark dive without any certification. You are only allowed to dive up to a depth of 12m and not allowed to go near the sharks as other certified divers. So, it reduces your probability of seeing a shark up close compared to other certified divers in the tour. Just keep that in mind. ????

Awesome experience with best Crew Subsurface have an all new crew and the Instructors on board are second to none. The gear is all relatively new and you are not treated like a number, they really look after you. The diving experience was brilliant and i recommend that anyone interested in trying out scuba for the first time get in touch with these guys. You'll love it.

Fantastic day out! Absolutely fantastic experience with Steve and Dave, top guys with tonnes of knowledge. We are first time divers and the experience was amazing, saw plenty of sea life. They provided us with hot drinks and snacks. Couldn’t have gone any better.

These guys were amazing! My partner and I got to go out with Dave, Josh and Scuba Steve! And a few others and it was so awesome! I got a lot of motion sickness but they were so polite and caring and professional! My partner had the best time as they were very safety conscious and fun to be around! We had two dives and both went really smoothly! Great team and a great company! Would 10000% recommend looking at getting our certification through them soon!

Booked with this Company online and was really looking forward to diving. They cancelled on me claiming that the weather was bad. Yet the weather was perfect! I was in any case unable to reschedule as they had asked me to do, due to travel commitments. So I asked for a refund. All I got was a pushy guy on the phone asking me to reschedule and avoid the topic of a refund.
Since returning home I have taken the issue up with my credit card company.
Take the advice from me and all the other commenters here Avoid this company ! !

Stay clear of Subsurface Scuba First dive trip went ok , I was rather concerned about the try divers who had no experience poor people.
Rebooked with the company for another 1/2 day diving ,I turned up at Mooloolaba with all my gear , I thought it was strange that no one else had turned up so I rang up Scuba Steve at Subsurface scuba , asked him what the problem was he said that the dive trip had been cancelled and everyone had been contacted Not Me though. The trip was cancelled due to bad weather , I told him I was staying at Mooloolaba for three nights so if the weather improved I was able to dive. This didn’t happen , I was supposed to have a refund , this didn’t happen , so I made a claim against my credit card company who were brilliant . There is a but , he is now trying to claim the money back . Do not trust him do not dive with this company . There are other dive companies in Mooloolaba.Use them instead they are the professional ones

Avoid! It took me a while to process our experience and months to try to put it into words and I still don't know exactly what to say but I need to submit something as a warning to potential future customers so here is the short version. This business is a major incident waiting to happen. The "introductory dive" is absolutely unsuitable for complete beginners, despite what they say. They are willing to send beginners down to 12m with minimal instruction and no practice in a shallow, protected space. There was no opportunity to practice equalisation or to get accustomed to breathing with the regulator. We did not have a proper understanding of our equipment and felt unprepared to descend. None of the people on board for an introductory dive completed it as we all felt unsafe and rushed. The instructors were kind enough but Steve was not sympathetic and clearly frustrated with us. We were told that we couldn't wish for better conditions and made to feel that we were being unreasonable. I later learned that he has been blacklisted by PADI and is not allowed to instruct. He runs the business and drives the boat but has others guiding the customers. Please, use another company.

Did my advanced open water course with Subsurface, Louise was a great instructor and very patient and knowledgeable. The course was done with other people just on dive tours, no one else was there for the course so felt rushed at times. The boat had too many people on it for its size and was very cramped. Other instructors with Subsurface were far less patient and understanding. I would only recommend Louise.

Do not book with this company. They canceled on us with bad weather and rebooked us in when we weren’t on the coast. Hung up in our ears multiple times on the phone. Refused to give us a refund. Lost $600 because of this. This ruined our holiday as we are now $600 out of pocket. Absolutely disgusting behaviour…. Do not book with this company!

Thieves It's been 2 weeks I'm waiting for a refund after a cancellation due to bad weather conditions, they told me it's not a problem over the phone and I'm still waiting, I booked through Adrenaline who called them as well and they first asked for some forms no one ever heard about and now only propose a reschedule while I'm not in Australia anymore, I booked for my friends and I so they owe me 800$. They will do everything they can to keep your money, I can't believe it. And I'm not the first one to complain, they are just thieves. I'm gonna report them in the next weeks if I don't get my money back.

Absolutely amazing service. Did six dives with them and everything went really well. I even decided to get my 12yo son certified and he was thrilled to become a scuba diver with Louise’s help. Most thoughtful, kind and patient instructor you even could find. Will be back for sure. Thank you!

We just today finished our scuba dive with Steve, Louise and Sean who were great all day. Really looking after us in conditions that weren’t ideal on the surface, but brilliant under the water. We saw a rare pacific angel shark and could even hear whales while we were underwater! Special shout out to Louise, our instructor who was super encouraging when I had a nervous start. Would highly recommend!!
