Dined for lunch on a weekday last week.

I am peeved that our steak was served 5-10mins after our small plates/starters which included cold raw fish. We were not done with our starters when the meat were served. Steak would obviously turn cold by the time we started eating and the table was cluttered too.

We feedback to the lady staff who told us we did not indicate our preference when she asked. I do not recall any such question asked to the same effect.

Restaurant was far from full capacity since it’s a rainy weekday lunch. Kitchen was open kitchen so I’m not sure why the chef also thought it’s ok to fire up my steak in a hurry.

Not sure if this is a place I want to dine in when I’m just trying to enjoy myself in the vibes of Hunter Valley.

We had the pleasure of dining at Brokenwood Wines over the long weekend.

The food was absolutely delicious!

Myself and a few others did the wine pairings and I have to say, some of the most delicious wines I’ve ever tasted!

Will be buying wine from Brokenwood shortly!

We had lunch at the brokenwood restaurant. Very nice welcoming from the staff that offered us different options to eat. Very attentive staff including the chef in the kitchen. The waitress was very kind and professional. She let us enjoying our food with no rush. The portion were generous and very tasty from the appetisers to the dessert. You could tell the high quality products use. Even the olive oil…

We became members of Brokenwood after a fantastic wine tasting in January with Liam, who was amazing and introduced us to some beautiful wines. This past weekend, we returned to the Hunter and, even without a booking, were warmly accommodated. To our delight, Liam was there again and remembered us—it felt like catching up with an old friend! He was incredibly attentive, asking about our wine preferences and even securing us a lunch reservation at The Wood, the restaurant inside Brokenwood.

After an already incredible tasting, our lunch was the perfect next step in our experience. We sat at a beautiful table overlooking the oak barrels and enjoyed the “Feed Me” menu with paired wines. Every dish was a standout, with the gnocchi being an absolute highlight—I highly recommend it! The steak and wine pairings were also perfection. We were so grateful when Chef Sean came out to chat with us, giving us a chance to compliment him and learn more about the food.

Overall, it was an unforgettable experience, and we are so thankful to be members of such a stunning estate!

We had the most amazing lunch & wine tasting at Brokenwood Wines today, we had our Lab with us & they couldn’t have been more accommodating.
Liam looked after us so well, found us a quiet table just so we could have lunch with our dog too.
We were passing through so we wouldn’t have been able to have lunch otherwise.
The wines & food were soo good! We became members & came away with our favorite wines.

We have been here twice and both times have been wonderful. The food is amazing. Highly recommend the steak tartare. We did a wine tasting session after our meal. The tasting was led by James. James was fantastic and very knowledgeable. It was a really pleasant experience.

Great place to visit, Friendly team. Great venue, and very friendly team. James took us through a range of wines catered to our preferences. Options to join wine club, but no pushy sales push.
Overall great visit and will be back.

Wine Tasting Our Sommelier was amazing! Very nice and attentive and helped us out with our tasting! All of the wines were lovely with a great mixture of whites and reds.

Really enjoys the atmosphere, fairly friendly staff. Would have been a 5 five if the bar actually served some hot food as the restaurant is more on the fine dining style so its more difficult for little family members to get some proper food.

I was so excited to go to this winery, as the tour we were on said their wine was great. Whilst, the wine was great, service was not. I paid the $25 for a tasting, expecting good service. Earlier, my friend was refused by a men at your counter to drink, which she respected quickly. Responding with it’s fine, (even though she went to one winery before). First, my tasting went for 10 minutes and before I could even say what I wanted to buy, I was quickly told the total of my tasting. To be honest, I wasn’t going to buy because of how quickly and rushed the service was, but in comparison to the other previous winery, I was shocked. We then proceeded to the main counter, where we asked for the two bottles of wine we brought from a previous winery, in which your worker said “no”. I was dumbfounded and shocked because we brought this and we just wanted to go home at this stage. He also then said have you paid, and i said yes, went silent for 2 minutes. It felt terrible. After explaining it, he gave it, but I left, feeling like I was a bother to your business over being a customer. I would never recommend or come back myself to this business, which sucks because everything else was great :(

Good wine This was a solid winery and a good tasting. It’s a bit corporate and less friendly than others, but they’re very professional. The wine is good too. Not amazing, but solid all around.

Perfect wine tasting with friends Baiden has given us the perfect wine testing experience. His knowledge about wine is incredible huge and we learnt a lot about wine today. The wines we had, were incredible amazing and we loved every single one. We only had a good experience because of Baiden, he is simply amazing! Thank you so much!

Great Introduction to Hunter Valley Wines This was my stop in Hunter Valley as recommended by the information center and I was not disappointed. The tasting expert Martelle was friendly, funny, and fabulous! I was very new to Semillon wine and she was a vast resource of knowledge about the wine, Hunter Valley, and Australia in general. She was even kind enough to give me food recommendations in the area as well as where I could go for the best views and to see kangaroos. The wine was also very good. This is a great place to start your time in Hunter Valley or to visit if you haven't been here before (or even if you have, but then why would you need a review?).

A delightful experience in the heart of the Hunter I booked the brokenwood experience for my husbands 40th and we were lucky enough to be the only ones on the day. We had Amy as our guide and she was fantastic. Fun, very knowledgeable and so informative. Could not fault her! The food was lovely paired with the wine, the tart and mushroom were the standouts for us! Having a taste from a premium barrelled wine was also a highlight.
The overall experience was great and we had such a good time. My only constructive feedback would be for the price, maybe include a little more in the tour and involve the guests some more, possibly with a hands on part. And or finish with a cheeseboard and wine of your choice on the deck, I just feel like the value is slightly off the mark here.
But we thoughrougly enjoyed our time at brokenwood with Amy!

I was thoroughly impressed with their customer service from the moment I entered until the very end. Every staff member was friendly, but Baiden stood out as exceptional. Despite my ongoing struggles with English, he understood my needs and offered outstanding recommendations. A special thank you to him! Amazing tasting by Martelle who looked after our group with a next level experience. After our tasting we then had an incredible dinner at the wood. We opted for the “feed me me” menu with matching wines. Shout out to Sean the chef for a truly delicious meal. Alyssa and Troy were amazing hosts. Thank you to everyone for a memorable visit.

Traditional winery with wide selection available for tasting. Visited midweek so getting a tasting and table for food wasn’t too much of a problem but could imagine it being very busy on weekends (booking probably recommended). The lady who took us through our tasting was very knowledgeable and friendly, wasn’t too formal either which put our minds at ease. Really nice experience overall.

Nice, but a bit overrated. We tried a few times to have lunch or dinner and never got a space. Happy to finally make it, we stopped for a late lunch/early dinner. Lunner.
The only options we liked was pizza. The pizza was not bad, but not great. And not why I would stop at the vineyard.

Oli was fantastic!! Booked a wine tasting experience here on a Friday afternoon and Oli was a lovely host. Learnt a lot about the wines from the region and we had a great time!

We joined the membership which offered discounts on wine and also our tasting was redeemable with the purchase of wines on the day, which was a pleasant bonus surprise.

Superb experience and relaxing atmosphere, thanks to Xaviera The best wine tasting experience I have ever had. Our sommelier, Xaveria is so friendly and knowledgeable about different kinds of wine and their pairing food. The semillon and sticky wicket tasted so good that we bought a few bottles! Would definitely visit again :)

Oli from BrokenWood guided us through the wine and food parings perfectly and provided a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Oli was super knowledgeable.

Brokenwood Wines was a great stop on our e-bike wine tour We rented e-bikes on a very hot day but really wanted to go to Brokenwood so made the trek and we were very happy we did. Decided to do a wine tasting before lunch and we were lucky to get Troy as our wine guide. So many great wines but also lots of explanations about the wines, the different ways to taste them, the differences in storing wine and we decided to buy the Coravin system for home based on our discussion with him about it. The wines were delicious and we bought our favourite and then headed to the patio for lunch of cheese and charcuterie and it was perfect! If you are considering stopping there I would highly recommend!

A must try winery in the hunter We loved our tasting experience at Brokenwood. James was fantastic and ran us through all of the wines in great detail, whilst at the same time it was like having some casual drinks with a mate.

A visit to Brokenwood, under Troy's expert tutelage, is an absolute must for those looking to add a sparkle to their wine-tasting adventure. It's a 'grape' way to spend to spend the day! We're on cloud wine!

The wines were generally overpriced vs other brands with similar ratings. The fee for the wine tasting was fair however they would ask extra money for tasting the better ones. The coffee in their cafe was very nice. We tasted the Graveyard Shiraz though not bad but at $400 a bottle was very overpriced.

Wine tasting with a plus. My husband and I experienced the Brokenwood Journey with Amy as our host. We may not have chosen this but it was arranged by our travel company as part of a two day visit to the Hunter Valley. However we thoroughly enjoyed it ,especially exploring the wine and food pairings. I think my palate is shot as I age as I couldn’t taste much difference in the taste of the wine before and after food . The concept is excellent however and much thought had obviously gone into the pairings. It was great to have a personal tour of the winery with Amy who was very knowledgeable and personable. All in all a great experience.

Lovely restaurant in Hunter Valley We had an excellent lunch here during our trip to Hunter Valley. We have been in Australia for 3 weeks and we agreed it was one of the best meals we had during our entire trip. Brokenwood is one of the few places that is open for lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday in Hunter Valley

Disgusting RestRooms at Dinner sitting despite alerting staff to the state of the toilets- was told the cleaner would be in the next day. Totally unacceptable as this is not a cheap restaurant to dine in and the facilities should be at least clean for its dining customers

James Excellent Wine Tasting Had a wonderful wine tasting at Brokenwood eagerly and expertly led by James. Our tasting took longer than usual as we explored the wines and asked James questions, all of which he answered with a wealth of background knowledge. We followed this up with an excellent lunch on the deck. Will no doubt come back again.

Wine Tasting with Martelle Martelle was exceptional at what she offered us. She asked and listened to our requests and likes/dislikes and offered great wine selections for us to try. She was warm, engaging and fun. She is a great storyteller too. She’s a keeper!

It’s been nicely built and nice atmosphere, however I find the $25 tasting fee a rip off when other places had free tastings. They didn’t offer any food with that fee, just tasting 6 wines. And the fee not taken off if you purchase a wine. The lady who served us kept walking away from the table and left us waiting. I think the service needs to be reviewed if you’re going to charge.

Amazing meal ???? We highly recommend the feed me option. Every single dish tasted amazing with unique flavour combos and we were surprised by the quantity! Waiting staff were very attentive and service was fast. Will certainly be back next time we are in the Hunter.

Always a joy to return here for a crisp white wine and oysters. We rarely travel back to the area but this has always been a regular stop. Nice to take a few bottles back with us as the wine is overpriced if we can find it in Brisbane. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is delicious. We enjoyed the oysters , steak tartare, and a cheese platter. Lovely to sit out on the terrace on a beautiful Sunday .

Wine tasting The wine tasting was a very informative, well paced and rich experience. The staff were more than lovely and seemed genuinely pleased to show their hospitality.

Must do - and ask for Blake! Lunch was excellent. But Blake was the best guide through the wine tasting. He was experienced but also matched our group's vibe. Would 100% recommend for any girls trip!

Unfortunately I couldn't find my favourite but I promised you that the staff were very well trained and very friendly.. even if we didn't want anything , they still have very good customer service ????

A stunning tasting, great wines and beautiful views with the amazing Xaviera Xaviera was amazing throughout our tasting and made the experience so enjoyable! She gave us excellent recommendations on food pairings and all round had lovely energy. Was the perfect way to end our day - I only wish we could’ve stayed longer! Can’t wait to come back again.
