Autonomous Training Session
Please be advised that this is an autonomous training session, you need to be comfortable diving and safetying other freedivers, we will try to bring a master to be in charge of the training buoy, but can not be guaranteed.
If you want any specific coaching for this session, please call us to discuss.
About the Session
Every local knows that the Gold Coast is home to some world class dive sites, just few minutes from shore.
Depending on the dive site chosen for the day, our trips include either a long Line Diving Session and a short Reef Exploration Session (based on reported visibility) or Two Line Diving sessions. These line diving sessions are most likely to be drift sessions in order to cancel the current and wind effects on the line.
Our instructors are there to guide you and show you all the best parts of each dive site and plenty of tips for those wishing to improve in the sport of Freediving.
Please note: You must be a certified Freediver or be completing a course with us to join this trip.

I attended the two day Freediver course with no freediving experience and was a little apprehensive about how I would go.
Gonzalo, our instructor, is a very experienced freediver who competes at a national and world championship level.
He put me at ease and made me feel comfortable right away. The first day theory and pool content was interesting and delivered in a fun and easy to understand way while highlighting all the safety aspects.
Gonzalo delivered the second day ocean component (the part I was a bit apprehensive about) with a calm, professional, and reassuring manner. This really helped put me at ease and especially helped when I had a few issues with my technique. He was also able to analyze an equalising issue I had and rectify it with his advice.
With his help, I felt safe and in control throughout the dives and overall had an awesome experience.
Thanks mate, for a fun and well delivered course.
Definitely recommend OceanSense Freediving!
Special thanks to Chloe, Brian and Pedro for being excellent instructors. They were all well-humoured, professional and patient. They walked us through every step, helping us to complete safe dives and feel relaxed in what we were doing.
Everyone I met on the course was lovely and to top it all off we saw dolphins and whales, and even hear the whales singing whilst diving.
Another special thanks to Captain Harry and Forrest, the lion dog.
Thanks for a great two days, I will be back for more.
I would definitely recommend anyone interested in free diving or breath work complete classes with Gonzalo and ocean sense.
I understand why so many companies pointed to OceanSense when we tried to find freediving trips.
with great attention to all levels of where people are at and making them feel comfortable. Would highly recommend and definitely do it again!
I’d highly recommend freediving, diving or getting qualified with these guys. The pool skills were in a beautiful big pool at the GC performance centre .
Highly recommend
Thank you very much!
I approached Matt prior to committing to the course because of confidence reason being 140kg and lacking extreme self-esteem issues, Matt put my mind an ease immediately and I was absolutely amazed at how how far I could push myself and how much my mind limited how far I could go.
Since completing the course I have kept up my training and nearly doubled my personal bests at the course just by following what Matt taught us in the course and overcoming the mental limitations I placed on myself.
I recommend this course to anyone and everyone as there is so much to gain from learning with Oceansense
I loved my first session so much that I immediately booked their Whitsundays sail retreat that was on the following weekend, and it exceeded all expectations.
Gonzalo, Matt and Jenna are amazing instructors. So calming and knowledgeable, throughout the entire process I felt safe and comfortable.
I can’t wait to continue my free diving journey with them.
Massive thanks to the team. I will be back!!
I’ve never thought that I would be able to dive down 20.6m in one breath.
Freediving with OceanSense has introduced me to ocean meditation, relaxing the mind and body including determination and excitement!
I highly recommend taking courses with Gonzalo and Matt. They are professional, patient, encouraging and are with you 100% towards the discovery of the beautiful journey of depth.
