The service of the adventure lodge itself was absolutely impeccable!
For the tour: Got very lucky to be a very small group, so it felt a private tour to be honest. And what tour it was, our tour guide Reuben was absolutely amazing, what a legend. Knew the best spots to be, was a lot of fun and chatty, so the tour was filled with local and personal facts and stories. Still one of the best tours I’ve had! If you thinking about booking, just do it!
Main reason why I still leave a review now is that Reuben brought us to a spot with according to him the best Meat Pies. It was my first one, so couldn’t compare at that point, but after having travelled for another 2 months in Australia, I can only determine that Reuben has absolutely ruined meat pies for me in the best way. He really brought us to the best of the best. The standard has been set to high, all other pies I’ve had were miles below😁 Figured that was worth mentioning!
Keep doing what you guys are doing!
Cheers!

It is not well organised
The Lodge is very clean with great facilities ( and free breakfast!)
It was the perfect reset to catch up on laundry, cook and recharge. I came to do the sandy hop tour, and had so much fun ( thanks Michelle!) we explored the waterfalls and tried to find a platypus, tried local pies and saw the kangaroos at cape hillsborough. The tour also including a wake boarding lesson, I was awful at it but it was very fun.
I had to take a zoom meeting during my stay and the team ensured I had a private space for this, which I really appreciated.
Despite not much being close or walkable to the lodge, I feel like this place is a hidden gem and overlooked by many doing their east coast route. Definitely worth a stay. Thanks Amanda and Michelle!
Seeing the wallabies up close in their natural habitat was truly magical. Michelle shared so many fascinating facts and little stories that made the experience even more special. She also took beautiful photos for us, so we could just relax and enjoy the moment.
What we really loved was the personal touch it didn’t feel rushed or overly touristy. It was a genuine, unforgettable experience that made us feel connected to the beautiful nature of Australia.
We can’t recommend this tour enough! If you’re visiting and want something unique, intimate, and truly memorable, book this tour with Michelle. You won’t regret it!
We’re already dreaming of coming back to Australia and doing it all over again.
She makes you feel that you're with a friend travelling and enjoying a wonderfull time. Not just knows A LOT about history and nature but also about current events and she shared them with you in the most kind, lovingly, and friendly way possible.
TOTALLY RECOMMENDED 😊
The Mackay Adventure Lodge was great - everything was so modern and clean - it was so much nicer than any of the hostels I’ve stayed in travelling the east coast and really had a luxury feel.
On the first day we did wakeboarding which was so much fun - our instructor was so encouraging and I was impressed with how much progress we all made in such a short space of time!
Following this I went on both the platypus / waterfall tour and the sunrise with wallabies tour. Both were brilliant and our tour guide Michelle was super passionate, knowledgable and friendly - she really made the experience for us! I’d highly recommend both of these activities to anyone stopping in Mackay!
Michelle, our guide was friendly, happy and shared lots of relatuve information.
We had such a great day .with the day ending with sightings and photos of our national monotreme the platapus! Soooo cute!
Thanks again was a special experience!
M and R Borg
I highly recommend going on a tour with this mob, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks Michelle.
Small hike to Lookout Twin Beach (beautiful )
Small (nice) Breakfast close to the Beach
Stopp at the Diversity Walk with explanation.
We enjoyed our day and can recommend this tour!
Our guide Michelle did an very good job!
The views, walks and experience is worth waking up in the Maclay region
We were blessed with 'Em', the matriarch of the mob, who came out to visit with us. A couple of the wallabies had some of their differences to sort out and moved away from the crowd to have a little tussle :). And for the bush turkeys, they were in the photo bombing at every opportunity.
After our informative talk from Range Murray, we did a short walk up to the lookout for some stunning views out to Wedge Island. As it was an extremely low tide, the track out to the island was clearly visible.
What followed was a lovely breakfast with some treats. We were graced with a curlew and kookaburra. Then it was off to the bio-diversity walk something you need to do to learn about the plants, animals, and cultural history of this beautiful part of the world.
Many thanks to Michelle, our trusty bus driver, who added so much more to our morning than just her smooth driving
The waterfall is hands down my favourite place in Mackay. The bus was great fun as we watched it drive through water. The pies were incredible too!
Recommend this tour so highly!! Led by such lovely people which really made the day and Handled so professionally.
The driving was great as was the company.
Would highly recommend this to anyone and is great for any tourist to the area who doesn’t have a rental car to get out to the park themselves. Booking online via their website is easy and hassle-free as well!
The sunrise with the kangaroos, as well as the small walks to the viewpoint and over the diversity Broadwalk.
The tour also took place even though only 2 people joined in.
Our guide Michelle made it very special! She is so friendly and has a lot of exciting things to tell! She also puts a lot of effort into taking beautiful photos of you.????
Without a car it is difficult to get to these places, so thank you for the opportunity and this wonderful experience!????
Eungella National park / Finch Hatton is gorgeous. And I also liked the organization of the tour, the Melba house/coffee shop followed by the walk through the forest to this beautiful waterfall and then ending with lunch.
In conclusion, it’s really worth it. Visit friendly and especially happy because maintained while I was the only guest.
Thanks you and see you !
