9. COVID-19 UPDATE:
Mandatory Vaccinations from October 2021
Until further notice: IAT requires that all participants on our tours must be fully vaccinated with a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved vaccine against Covid-19. Before boarding a tour, you will be asked to produce a vaccination certificate/passport (digital or otherwise) that is acceptable to Australian Federal and/or the relevant State/Territory jurisdictions through which you are traveling with us.
You must carry or have access to this certificate at all times during your journey with us and show it to any person in authority who asks to see it e.g. police or public health officials.
Covid Safe Plan
IAT has implemented a comprehensive Covid Safe Plan to ensure protection of guests and staff from the Covid-19 strain of Coronavirus. Please be assured that we will have done everything in our power before the tour to ensure that when you join us you should not come into contact with Covid-19.
However, the nature of the virus is that it is almost impossible to stop it from moving through the community – only diligent hygiene controls and contact tracing appear to reduce its movement. With your help we can work together to ensure that the virus is not passed on as a result of our tours.
The following is an overview of the immediate requirements of that plan:
Before joining a tour, you must:
• provide evidence of being double-dosed with an approved Covid-19 vaccination (see above)
• advise us if you have any of the following COVID-19 symptoms or have had any of these symptoms in the 14 days prior to the tour.
COVID-19 SYMPTOMS
• Fever
• Sore throat
• Cough
• Tiredness
• Difficulty breathing
• Body temperature exceeding 37.3 degrees Centigrade
Your temperature may be tested before you join a tour or at any time during the tour. This will be done using a non-invasive method.
To protect and prevent any risk of COVID-19 infection within the community Insight Australia Travel will not provide services to anyone who does not have an approved vaccine certificate and we may not provide service to anyone experiencing the above symptoms.
If on the date of travel our staff determine that a customer is displaying the above symptoms, or you refuse to provide a vaccine certificate, allow us to take your temperature or refuse to wear a mask, you will not be able to enter our vehicle and your tour will be cancelled. This may also apply to any other guests that are travelling with you.
If you do not agree to provide a vaccination certificate, allow a temperature test or fail to wear a facemask or refuse to comply with any reasonable Covid-19 related requirements (as determined by Australian Federal or State/Territory Law or Regulations) you will be unable to join our tour and we will not offer you a refund.
You must adhere strictly to the Covid Safe Plan requirements provided by our staff/guides before and during the tour. These may include, but are not restricted to:
• social distancing
• the wearing of full mouth and nose covering masks (you MUST bring your own mask)
• the use of hand sanitiser (we will have sanitiser on board but you should bring your own too)
• using the same seat throughout the trip
• contact tracing information
• sharing equipment with other people on the tour

Clients are welcome to pass IAT contact details to relatives or friends.
17. Dietary Requirements

Dear Mr Burrows.
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing such detailed feedback. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the group, the expertise of Tim and Scott, the smooth organisation, and of course the incredible bird sightings – 150 species is a wonderful achievement!
We truly understand your disappointment about missing the Quinkan rock art. It was originally scheduled, however on the day the heat and the steep, rocky climb made it unsuitable for the group’s comfort and safety. The guides did mention this, however we understand your dissapointment. The decision was not taken lightly, but our guides felt it best given the conditions.
We hope the rest of the journey left you with lasting memories, and we so appreciate your understanding and support.

Amanda, our guide, was great, too. She handled all the practical details of our trip with aplomb and displayed an encyclopedic knowledge of the birds we encountered. I loved the fact that we had a small group of like-minded enthusiasts.
The most surreal experience of the trip was giving a very thirsty wild kangaroo a drink from a hose at the ranger's station. I loved being able to see a 360 degrees view of the horizon and also the spectacular sunsets.

As for the accommodation: a bit of TLC would be good in the rooms and the dining hall.
The dining hall was not clean and the breakfast was not great. The dinners were fantastic but lunch was so so.
The guides were amazing, informative and worked very hard.

Finding bone and preparing a jacket to protect it, then removing it to transport to the 'lab' wasn't to difficult either! Smaller finds were foil wrapped and taped (duct tape has many uses!!!)
The last two days were at the Eromanga Natural History Museum, a fantastic complex, and well worth the visit o it's own. Getting to explore the jackets from the site was engrossing, removing as much dirt/mud to expose the buried treasure was exciting and brought the whole experience together, knowing how the system works, from finding, excavating, protecting then exposing a fossil, right through to seeing a finished fossil on display (not mine find yet!!).
This expedition ranks up with the Kimberly and West Coast Tasmania expeditions I have been on, as well as the Devi's Ark experience.
Please add a Dinosaur Dig to the listing - Eromanga do that one as well!

Our guide, Dean was kind, funny, knowledgeable and respectful.
We were lucky enough to have a group of 6 fantastic people.
Every location we visited was stunning. The swimming locations were even more beautiful than the travel brochures.
Injalak Hill and the art and cultural centre were so interesting.
The camp ground and food were great.
Every day was a highlight!
If you are ever lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit Kakadu and Arnhem Land then this trip is highly recommended. Love, love, loved it!

The first evening we met our fellow travelers and were introduced to the 2 guides, Martin and Tim, who gave us detailed information for the journey.
Next day we visited Kings Billabong then Hattah Kulkyne National Park, south of Mildura. An enjoyable day exploring those areas with such diverse plants and animals, especially to huge variety of birds. The impact of the recent floods was evident alongside all the waterways. We were amazed and awed by the extensive knowledge of native birds of both the guides.
The following day we visited the Australian Inland Botanic Gardens en route to Mungo National Park, arriving at our accommodation late in the afternoon.
The next 2 days were spent exploring various area in Mungo: checking out the Visitor Centre then, accompanied by a First Nations guide, we climbed the Mungo dunes with the "Walls of China" and later in the day returned to view the lunette at sunset.
On the lake bed we saw lots of kangaroos (2 were boxing!), great variety of birds including pink cockatoos, raptors and emus, and a shingleback lizard.
We also stopped in at the old "Zanci" homestead site and shearing shed and took nature walks in the park.
With good accommodation, comfortable driving in the 2 minibuses, friendly travelling companions and the fantastic guides made it an excellent holiday.

The two staff members were professional and experienced, leading our small group to better understand the Murray River system, its fauna and flora in an amazing safe environment given the high river level.
A visit and walk with an indigenous leader, inspiring and educational.
Kayaking through old and new Red Gum forests was Magical.
