Operated By:
Based out of Canberra your tour starts with a hotel pickup on the afternoon of day 1, witness incredible mountain ranges and varied jagged dramatic coastline, colour rich sandstone layers and conglomerates awaiting discovery.
Each of the three days on this journey are surprisingly different, walking this stretch of coast is an intricate insight into the timeline of the Australian environment, be prepared to walk rock ledges, sandy beaches, pebbly coves and forest trails.
Walking with only a day pack you can enjoy the relative weightless hiking with optional side hikes, yummy lunches and arrive to your private beachfront villa accommodation along route.
Itinerary:
The walk itself starts on the Southern end of the National Park we strongly suggest you stay in the town of Batemans Bay the evening prior to your walk, we can recommend or please search for great places to stay online.
Please Note itinerary is subject to change – guide only
Day 1
Afternoon – Hotel Pickups commence in Canberra
Be greeted at your hotel by your guides, we use the afternoon to travel 2 hours to Batemans Bay, check into your hotel of choice and enjoy dinner in town. (
Day 2
730am – Load your cabin baggage into the van, and enjoy a transfer into the southern end of the park. With only your day packs (available for use from Region X) we commence the walk along forested trails along some incredible cliff top vantage points where wildlife viewing such as Whale watching is very special treat anytime from June – November.
Beaches such as North Head beach, Honeysuckle, Myrtle, Oakey and Richmond all connect through forested trails that rise over headlands and emerge as subtle paths onto sandy shores. Any of these form great resting and lunch stops (supplied en-route).
Conglomerate rock visibly ends and gives way to the southern point of the Sydney Sandstone basin after lunch where visitors walk the varied layers of sandstone through cracks and coves to your first night accommodation.
Check in to your twin, triple or quad share private villa and enjoy the comfort of complimentary champagne served on your cabin deck with your afternoon tea, we celebrate the first day on the trail together, later your guides will leave and dinner is served at the onsite restaurant.
Day 3
Beach Walking
Post breakfast we load your cabin baggage into our vehicle transfer and set off along the beach. Cookies beach ends is a short rock scramble prior to setting off on the long open stretch of Durras Main beach, a beautiful long stretch of shoes off walking. If we are lucky we can spot dolphins in the surf and daily new flotsam on the beach. Durras Lake enters the ocean half way along the sand where a river wade ensures we reach the other side. The northern end of the beach is a great spot to stop for lunch prior to the uphill rainforest hike over Point Upright, a dominant sea cliff. We arrive at Depot beach one of the coasts remnant loggers camps, now an exclusive holiday destination. Here kangaroos are tame and incredible bird life enjoys the climate.
Settle in to your accommodation and enjoy an afternoon of exploring the area.
Day 4
Rainforest Walking
After breakfast leave the comfort of your accommodation and stroll off along the trail to iconic Pebbly Beach where resident Kangoroos and found fame as visitors come to photograph them lazing on the beach in true Australian style. The beach is also a popular surf spot and one of the prettiest beaches on the South Coast.
The trail winds over ridges and down to beaches, creeks meet the ocean here as the dominant Durras Mountain (the largest mountain in the area) provides a watershed and pockets of rainforest relish with the moisture. The views to the ocean are amazing and the rock platforms are all individually striking. Spend time discovering the beauty of the landscape.
With lunch along the way, you spend the day discovering an almost different National Park as compared to the first days. As the afternoon continues here is little wonder why the end location is called Pretty Beach, a striking white sand and rainforest location you end your hike at the National Parks office.
Transport will collect you and take you back to your Canberra Hotel of Choice.
We also encourage our groups to stay in Batemans Bay and meet up for a post tour dinner in town at any number of local restaurants.

This company is amazing and I recommend you do any of their experiences. Every time I've dealt with them they have been professional, flexible and friendly. Good people who just want you to get the most out of life!

It was the best up close and personal views of seals of my life. I loved the connections with Josh and the other participants. Morning tea was excellent. Everything about the day was excellent.

It ticked all the boxes
- scenery was amazing (we even saw whales - well done Region X excellent organisation)
- guides were smart, informative and fun!
- accommodation was amazing - woke up to beach views and kangaroos
- food was great!
A very manageable walk for all!

Another great thing was that the tour didn’t feel rushed at all.
Saw some rays, jellyfish, black swans, oyster catchers and kookaburras ????

Our car got a flat battery just before we leave for the tour, the ladies from Region X is kind and flexible to postpone our tour with short notice.
Michael, our Kayak instructor is super friendly, super patient and super knowledgeable.
We will explore their 5-hour Kayak + snorkeling next time when we can revisit Batemans Bay.

Mike was very calm and informative. We had a great morning tea too. We hope to come and have another snorkel soon!

Don’t even contemplate, if you’re looking for something to do in Batemans Bay, you gotta check Region X out and book this tour!

We went up all the way to the estuary and kayaking through the mangrove trees, which would be the only way to explore that area in style.
The trip is also separated with small breaks and the kids were having an awesome time playing games up on the beach.
Most of all, the team was always there making sure you're looked after throughout the entire journey.
Highly recommended! Thank you for making our morning so enjoyable!

Do not miss this or you have missed the best part of one of the greatest way to explore this area

With all the meals and organisation taken care of, all we had to do was turn up and enjoy this incredible

Walking is easy with only slight grades, carry plenty of drinking water for this walk.

Such a nice experience. Thank you!

Thank you
Highly recommend

The owner of the oyster farm gave us an overview of the local oysters and harvesting techniques before letting us taste the local oysters.
Wonderful day and great valley for money.

Good exercise and beautiful views.

This company excelled with local knowledge and great eyes for spotting local wildlife on land and in water. Garren(Gaz) the guide, was a great guide! showing us what keen eyes he had for spotting the underwater life, not an easy task when camouflage plays a huge part in the sand..
The group felt safe and comfortable as all safety precautions where met. We had some newbies in the group that had never kayaked before and Gaz’s training had them off and paddling!
The Tour operator Josh was excellent in keeping the program on track and providing options for the day at hand. Josh is super flexible with keeping everyone happy. Josh even went above and beyond for me! Sharing local knowledge of secluded spots when looking to make the experience a momentous occasion for a special someone. Josh did not have to help me, but he did! Awesome stuff, a true blue company.
I would use this company again and will be passing on the good word to friends and family.
Legends!
