Private photo sessions What a fantastic 2 sessions I spent with Daniel. He explained things clearly, demystified so much . We recently completed a Smart Phone Photography course with Daniel as a group of eight, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Everyone walked away with a few “aha” moments, and it was fantastic to learn how to take great photos using just our smartphones.

I started the Beginners Photography Course as whatever comes before a beginner. I didn't even know how to work my camera. I finished feeling confident and excited about the creative possibilities ahead. Daniel is a fantastic teacher both of the operational, practical aspects but also the creative opportunities. I had a 2 hour private lesson with Daniel. I told him the specific things I wanted to improve and he was brilliant. He's patient and explains everything. He got me using Manual mode which allowed me greater flexibility / more control. There is so much to learn and 2 hours wasn't enough! I'd definitely be keen to go back and do a proper workshop. I recently took the Flash Photography course and found the training very informative and Daniel very approachable and knowledgable. I had a 2-hour private tuition session with Daniel, and it was time and money well spent. Daniel's depth of knowledge about everything to do with photography was impressive and inspiring. As a novice, I appreciated the time Daniel took to patiently walk me through the fundamentals of composing the ideal photo. I attended the Travel Photography workshop which was, in one word, fantastic. Even before the workshop began, there was great communication from Wendy and a very warm welcome upon arrival on the day. Our two expert tutors for workshop, Daniel and Ben, as well as backup staff with food and drinks, were not only friendly, respectful and thoughtful towards their clients but also towards local residents and the general public in the areas we visited. I highly recommend the workshop as it was well organised, yet it had a relaxed feel. It was very informative through explanations/demonstrations and the group was driven to wonderful locations to develop skills. I appreciated the time provided at the locations and the encouragement to practise whilst Ben and Daniel offered advice and knowledge. The workshop was also an opportunity to enjoy the company of like-minded people who are keen to improve their photographic skills. I had such an enjoyable day at the Portrait Photography Workshop with Sydney Photographic Workshops. The whole experience was incredibly well run, and the instructors were both professional and genuinely friendly. They created a really encouraging environment that made it easy to ask questions, try new techniques, and build confidence throughout the day.
The other participants were also great — a friendly group of people who were just as keen to learn and share ideas. It was a fantastic place to connect with other photography enthusiasts, and the collaborative atmosphere made the workshop even more rewarding.
I walked away having learnt a lot, with a much clearer understanding of portrait techniques, lighting, and how to work with a subject. Best of all, I came home with some shots I’m really proud of.

We had a great experience at the 8-week Beginners Course! My partner and I bought cameras for a big birthday and for upcoming travels, and wanted to learn how to actually use them. The atmosphere in the classroom was warm and welcoming, yet structured and highly engaging — every session was both inspiring and productive.
I especially want to thank Daniel — he is a true professional and an amazing mentor. The beginners course is a must do for anyone that is looking to do more with their camera. Not only did I learn how to use my camera more effectively, I was inspired to view the world differently. By the end of the course, I surprised myself with the photos I was able to take and it has given me a new drive to continue my photography experience.

Daniel and Wendy are such a pleasure to take any photography workshop from. Daniel has 20+ years of experience and he is happy to answer any question you throw at him. It's amazing how much knowledge about photography he has. Wendy really goes out of her way to make sure every student in the classes feel right at home and gets their shot at practicing and shooting. Recently attended a Vivid Photography Workshop as a beginner. Always had a love for photography. So always looking for ways to improve on my skills. Daniel was close to cancelling but so glad he didn’t as we were very lucky to be able to witness and capture clouds come over the city, once the rain stopped. The team were so helpful with advice and encouragement, made being out in the wind and rain for 3 hours totally worth it! Will definitely be back for another workshop!

I have always had an interest in learning photography, but never done anything about it , and for the last few years just relied on my iPhone to take photos. Finally, I took my first step and enrolled in the beginners course at Sydney Photographic Workshop.
I'm so glad I did. The course was fantastic -- starting with the very basics of camera functionality and building up our skills and knowledge week by week so we could use our cameras to their full capability.
By the end of the course I was happily shooting in manual mode, and taking some great photos. A particular highlight was taking photos of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge at night at the end of the field trip.
Our tutor, Glenn, is a highly skilled instructor, and his passion for photography and the history of photography really shone through.

I did the beginners 8 week course, and learned so much. This course is great value, and the lessons are set out so you really get the most out of it, a bit of theory to start off then you get time to practice. John was a fantastic teacher whose passion really showed through, he was always quick to help and showed me how to use my camera. I feel like I got a lot out of the course and have a really good base for using my camera in manual mode. Thanks guys for running such a great course

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of attending the Off-Camera Flash workshop at Sydney Photographic Workshops. The course exceeded my expectations! The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and patient, breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand explanations. We had the opportunity to practice with a model, which was invaluable. I'm so excited to continue my photography journey and explore the possibilities of off-camera flash. Highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to elevate their photography skills!

I recently completed an 8-week photography course with Sydney Photographic Workshops, and it was a fantastic experience! Our tutor, Glenn, was outstanding—his passion for photography was truly inspiring, and his deep knowledge and experience made every session engaging and insightful. He was always patient and willing to answer any questions, ensuring everyone felt supported.
Wendy also deserves a special mention for her excellent work behind the scenes. She made sure the class ran smoothly and was always warm and approachable when it came to administrative matters.
Over the 8 weeks, I learned so much and gained confidence in my photography skills. I'm already planning to return for more courses in the future. I highly recommend Sydney Photographic Workshops to anyone looking to learn or advance their skills in photography!

Sydney Photographic Workshops Rock!!!! I have completed 2 workshops with SPW the 8-week photography course and the 4-week lightroom course. Both were exceptional!!My tutor for the 8-week course was John Janson-Moore. John holds a Doctorate in Creative Arts which speaks for itself. Most importantly though for most students, in addition to being highly academically qualified, he is extremely approachable and an exceptionally good instructor. If you get John as your tutor, you are perfectly positioned to get the most out of the 8 weeks you spend with SPW.
For my lightroom course I was indeed fortunate to be in the extremely capable hands of Daniel Linnet who is not only a master photographer but is the principal tutor and, alongside his wife Wendy, the owner of SPW. When you sit in Daniels class it becomes immediately apparent that you are being taught by someone who is highly skilled and who absolutely knows what they're talking about. Daniels classes were full of relevant and interesting tips and tricks for creating a solid system for storing work product and editing images to bring out their best. Some of my best edits have been as a result of the techniques I learnt from Daniel during this course.
Daniel and Wendy are friendly and approachable learning hosts, and I cannot recommend Sydney Photographic Workshops strongly enough as a fantastic place to both consolidate your existing photographic knowledge and to learn new and industry relevant techniques that will make you a better photographer and editor. Thankyou Daniel, Wendy and John for my exceptional learning experiences! I'm looking forward to my next workshop which will be in the very near future!! SPW Rocks!!

What an excellent experience! After falling out of love with photography in recent times, the half day Photography Essentials workshop helped reignite my passion. Glenn was excellent and made me think of composition in a totally different light and helped me gain the confidence to shoot in manual mode. Highly recommended for those new to DSLR photography and it's also an excellent refresher.

I had a 2 hour introductory course on the set up of my camera and how it works. Daniel was a fantastic Tutor, he took his time and explained all the intricacies of getting the perfect shot and how to achieve this. At no time did I feel left behind or lost.
If you want to get expert tuition as a beginner or even an experienced photographer, this is the place to enrol in.
Thank you for an enjoyable 2 hours, it went far to quick.

Daniel has been a marvellous teacher, very patiently guiding us, given that it was a beginners course. I learnt a lot from the course. The course is perfect for a beginner, not too long yet not too short. The field trip added to the course really puts everything taught in perspective.
Also, I wish to mention their flexible approach. They strive to bring value to every participant. With my inevitable travel, Wendy was very accomodating, and I managed to complete the entire course.

The Beginner's 8 week Course was great. Daniel explained the key photographic concepts in a very clear manner and patiently answered all our questions. The weekly exercises helped reinforce what we had learnt. The 3 hour field trip towards the end of the course was very instructional and gave us the perfect opportunity to try out our newly acquired knowledge. Can highly recommend it to not only people looking to get off the Auto settings on their camera but also to those that are currently using manual settings and wish to improve the quality of their photos.

My Experiences with SPW and Daniel Linnet. Over the past few years I have attended a number of courses and workshops at SPW as well as one on one sessions with Daniel. Each time I have come away with a better knowledge and understanding of my camera and lenses (all of which I purchased based on Daniel's recommendations) as well as what my camera and lenses can do and what I can do with them. I have progressed from an enthusiastic amateur to now storing my photos in Lightroom, editing them in Lightroom and Photoshop and printing Photobooks. Wonderful workshop! Daniel answered all of our questions and was really knowledgeable on photography. We did a night tour around Sydney Harbour, and he even showed us a hidden gem spot to see the Bridge. Highly recommend lessons with this company.

Great full-day Portraits workshop. Daniel is super creative and went to great lengths to set the day up in a really interesting location, with different models in the morning and afternoon. Such a good way to learn.

Great one on one session with Daniel getting acquainted with my recently purchased Canon R7. His readiness to share his extensive knowledge was extremely helpful and his relaxed and friendly approach made the 2 hours fly by. Having also completed a beginners course earlier, I am really looking forward to the Lightroom course next year. Really great session with Daniel on critical basics of photography and how I apply them to wildlife photography. Beginners Workshop was fantastic. Well-paced to ensure that a large amount of information was imparted whilst moving along at a good rate and keeping everyone moving along. The teachers are very clearly experts in photography - but what's more their passion for teaching is very clear. Have no hesitation recommending.
