It was really special to have someone take us on tour that knew the spaces and artists so intimately. A little coffee along the way, lots of lovely surprises of spaces we would've never found on our own, and then to finish off the tour at the studio to meet some of the artist that we've followed along our walk was a really special tour. Would highly recommend to anyone, art interest or not, to head along, it was a great way to get a better understanding of how Melbourne came to be such a street art focused city.

Fun and informative! We had an amazing time on our walking tour with Matt. We came in knowing very little about street art in general and about the scene in Melbourne. It was such a cool experience to about it from someone who is involved in creating the art! I would highly recommend it for anyone.

We took our niece from the UK on the tour and we all absolutely loved it. David was awesome and showed us so much art that we have walked past for years, but never really stopped to see. Plus we learnt some history about Melbourne that we never knew either so that was a bonus! We have recommended to tour to all our friends and will definitely take other guests that we have stay too or might just do it again ourselves!

Must do tour while in Melbourne if you're interested in street art and its history! This is a wonderful tour, especially if you're into street art! The guides are artists themselves and ours was so knowledgeable and friendly. Pick up location was easy to find and on time. I really enjoyed all of the beautiful art and hearing about the artists and stories behind the history of street art in Melbourne. I was obsessed with the little picture framed art on Collins St but the art ranged from small toys/figures on walls to tags to traditional street art to huge murals - all of them so interesting!
The tour ended with a tour of the actual art studio for the artists, with drinks and nibbles which was such a lovely touch.
I enjoyed every minute of this tour and would highly recommend!

Fabulous tour. Fantastic, informative walk with Louis a very accomplished street artist. I now understand street art in a different way. A visit to his studio and meeting other artists at their Bender Street premises was the icing on top of a very pleasant afternoon.

Street art from a street artist’s perspective My friend and I booked this tour hoping to understand Melbourne street art from an insider perspective and this tour delivers! Ben, a street artist himself, was exceptional, sharing personal stories about the art we saw, his own street art journey, the history of Melbourne street art, specific techniques used, and so much more! The tour of the studio at the end was so cool, to be able to see the workspaces of the artists whose art we saw on the street up close and personal!

Overall, this tour is worth it for the insider perspective, to understand what we were looking at and the significance of even the smallest details, from freshly painted to faded hidden gems. Thanks Ben and Blender Studios for a great time! We highly recommend :)

Great introduction to Melbourne Street Art Ben was our tour guide and did an amazing job. He took time to give us background on Melbourne’s street art history and techniques used in creating various pieces of art. We were able to see an amazing amount of art in two hours. We were able to see pieces we would likely would not have found on our own and it saved us time. We finished the tour at their studios where we got to meet and see work for several artists and had some great snacks and cold beverages. Overall a 5 star experience!

The best street art tour in Melbourne! This type of tour is certainly enhanced when the guide is an artist themselves. Especially when it is such a renowned street artist like Matt!
He took us to a wide variety of street art, explained what we were looking at and gave us some info about the artist. What an amazing experience!
To top it off we went back to a co-operative where his studio is and we met and chatted to other artists about their work.

Few new discoveries Looking at reviews on this site, I feel like other people had an entirely different tour experience than we did.
We did not discover hidden lane ways you would never expect in Melbourne— rather, we primarily trolled the obvious offshoots from Flinders, including Hosier Lane and AC/DC Lane, both of which we had already wandered on our own.
Our guide looked uncomfortable throughout and spoke so quietly that it was impossible for our group to all hear him.
The absolute low point was boarding a tram, not to find more tagged streets, but rather to head to “the studio” — which took all the charm out of street art and candidly felt like being taken to someone’s brother’s rug factory

Excellent tour for anyone interested in art! I booked the Melbourne Street Art tour during a city sojourn with my teens. Having an interest in street art culture and aiming to expose my kids to another dimension of art, proved to be the highlight of our visit to Melbourne.

Our guide Louis was personable & chilled, and gave an informative & interesting outline of the history, techniques & “rules” of the scene. We loved his works both on the street and in the studio. My teens thought he was “very cool!”, and the tour was their favourite experience of our trip.

Ending the tour by being shown around Blender Studios and artist’s working spaces was a an excellent component.

He has the knowledge to explain and show great examples of Melbourne street art something you would never get on your own. The tour I think was great value for money, I would recommend this experience.

Seeing street art. In context We loved this tour! Our guide’s knowledge of many of the artists and the culture of street art made for a fascinating and eye opening experience. We definitely would not have appreciated what we were seeing without Ben’s insights and explanations. The studio visit was an excellent end point to the tour, making real the relationship between street art and other art forms.

Highly recommend this tour if you’re into exploring the city with a local guide who can show you street art you would never find otherwise. Best thing to do In Melbourne Ben our guide was the best , knowledgeable about all aspects of street art and just an absolute legend himself . Street art is forever changing , sometimes art is replaced within 20 mins so the tour is never the same .

Street art Tour for all...not just tourists. The tour isn't just for tourists, we are both locals with an art background. We wanted to explore the street art scene with someone who works on the inside. There was lots of info about styles, experience, method, and discovering hidden little gems around the city was great. The tour ended back at Blender Studios where about 18 artists work. We had wine, cheese, a tour of the studio and great conversation.

An Upclose Street art experience My son and I had a really great time, even better that I had imagined. Our guide had an indepth knowledge of the local art and culture. It was filled with awesome photo oppertunities. A very up close and immersive experience. It would be difficult understand the diversity and back stories of the artists any other way.

What an immersive experience. Our tour guide Tom was passionate and knowledgeable about all the street art, artist and culture. Getting to see the studios of lots of the artist was just the icing on the cake. I saw my own City with new eyes. Absolutely loved it.

We had a wonderful tour today with David. Although we are Melbourne locals, David was able to give us insight into both the street art scene, as well as lots of other aspects of Melbourne we didn’t know. The tour ended up in the studio where we were warmly welcomed by all the artists and given a comprehensive tour of the artists work spaces. The tour was a gift to my wife and won me many brownie points!
The standard of the art we saw was amazing. This tour gave us a better understanding of the amount of thought and talent that went into creating these works of art. We have a new found appreciation of street art which adds to our enjoyment of all these special spaces.

Excellent and informative tour! This tour was excellent! Our guide, Tom, is an artist and so very knowledgeable about the art and the area (lots of good food recommendations!). He was very engaging and thoughtful and worked to make sure we had a great tour experience. I really learned a lot. He showed us a wide range of work from small pieces, to large murals and pointed out things we would have never noticed like installations of small objects. We also enjoyed the tour of Blender Studios where we had some yummy snacks and met some of the artists. Great way to see some of the city and learn something new!

Great Introduction to Melbourne’s Street Art Scene! Very informative tour! I’m an experienced street art photographer, but still learned a lot - particularly about the local artists. The guide (Matt) was very knowledgeable and passionate! The tour focused on the Flinders Lane area, but prepared me to visit other locations in Melbourne on my own that have impressive street art collections, such as Fitzroy-Collingwood and Richmond. I also really enjoyed visiting the studio afterwards and meeting many the artists who work there. Highly recommended!

Such an incredible experience. The space was just so cool, Bridie our facilitator was so friendly and helpful and it was just really fun to throw paint around. Couldn't recommend it more and I'd really like to come back for another workshop.

We did the glow-in-the-dark splash paint workshop and it was a lot of fun. The studio itself is setup nicely with various artists and Bridie and Doyle made the workshop fun for everyone. Great activity to do as a date idea or with kids!

Street Art Tour - great experience. We went on the street at tour and had a really good time. The guide been was friendly accommodating and informative. We saw some parts of Melbourne that we never seen before following that we were back to the studio and saw how they work as a cooperative group - inspirational for anybody who is an artist. Thoroughly recommend!

I had a large school group. The guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, passionate about street art, and great with the students. He was accommodating of negotiating with a wheelchair. Used this group a few times now and they're always excellent.

Makes you see things you would never notice or understand. Eye opening and fascinating. Gives you new found respect for street artists. I would do this tour again any time I’m in Melbourne.

Great street art experience. Very interesting street art walk in central Melbourne with a most knowledgeable guide, Salvo. The real value is understanding the various artists enroute and the relationship between the artists and the taggers. Down some lanes and alleyways where one would never usually venture. Big range of the types of street art all explained by our very chatty guide. Ended up at Blender Studios where artists have their own space and were working. A great experience and well worth the 3 hour duration.

Great cultural experience A great way to view the art, get to know the stories & culture about the medium & the world of street art. Our guide Ben looked after us & imparted a lot of information, pointed out certain works, gave history on the artists also helped us negotiate streets & tram. We saw & went to streets & areas we probably wouldn't have seen or viewed if on our own even with a map. I especially liked visiting Blender studios which included a nice afternoon tea with lots of beverages & treats to eat.

Informative and Fun This tour was way more informative than I imagined it would be and I found it very interesting. Having the tour run by the local artists themselves gives you more insight as well. Going to the studio afterwards was also cool, and having a snack and drink offered when we got there was delightfully unexpected!

I took my daughter, who is a young artist on this tour and it was amazing. The artist who took us on the tour was outstanding, she talked art with my daughter(which I didn’t understand much????), inspiring her to follow her passion even though it’s not street art. We really enjoy Melbourne from different angles, different view points, it was really interesting.

Only go if you are REALLY into street art… 3 hours is a long time Maybe this isn’t fair, but it wasn’t my spouse’s choice to go on this tour and not mine. I was worried about the 3 hour length. Well, I was right. Unless you are really obsessed with street art, about 45 min of the tour is interesting. The rest gets real boring (“My friend put this sticker up”). As well, I found it frustrating as the tour leader just talks in a normal voice, no projection at all, so unless you are standing right beside him it’s really difficult to hear anything at all. This tour would be much improved by being 1 hour or maybe 90 min max long. I do like some of the street art but some of it is just ugly bad graffiti. Honestly, I was mentally checked out the minute I asked the tour guide what he thought of rampant tagging of everything (this happens in my home city) and his opinion was that “it was cool”. Then I really regretted giving this tour my money and wished I pushed my spouse for a food tour instead.
