Board your vessel at 11am at Stokes Hill Wharf, one of Darwin’s iconic locations that was centre stage during the Bombing of Darwin. This hour long Bombing of Darwin cruise takes you on a journey along Darwin’s seascape as you hear the stories and take in Darwin’s WWll history sites. You’ll also be treated to real time commentary by local guides about Darwin Harbour and Darwin’s importance as Australia’s frontline port.
The cruise departs Stokes Hill Wharf at 1100 am and covers the historic Stokes Hill and Fort Hill wharf areas, the Pearling Luggers, the wreck sites of the SS Neptuna and USS Peary, the old flying boat base at Doctors Gully, HMAS Coonawarra and the Emery Point gun emplacement before arriving at Cullen Bay at noon. Your Sea Darwin – Sea Tiwi vessel is equipped with state of the art digital technology to allow you to view the remnants of the wreck of the USS Peary on the sea floor. At the culmination of this Bombing of Darwin cruise you can choose to disembark at Cullen Bay, or stay aboard for a fast boat journey back to Stokes Hill Wharf arriving back around 12.15pm.

Definitely worth the trip.
We visited a number of key WW2 sites the whole time with a narration from our very knowledgeable guide Penny. We spent a good amount of time at the museum which was very interesting.
The logistical arrangements were great – it was a wet day, so they altered the tour on the fly to ensure we had a very positive but safe experience. There was bottled water freely offered throughout the time, and umbrellas to use as it was heavily raining. I felt our stops were a good length of time, and Penny always gave us the ability to have photo stops everywhere we go.
Penny’s knowledge and passion made us want to return to Darwin for a longer period of time! Thank you for such a great day, we felt very special and it was such a privilege to be shown Darwin and its important history by someone who was so passionate about it.

Generous serves of Barra and chips. My only suggestion would be that since you are offering Great Northern blackfish and whitefish beer, why not bluefish too which is a superior zero alcohol beer that would’ve gone down a treat with the food rather than soft drinks.
But otherwise a very enjoyable experience.
This casual & relaxed low-key fish n chips was perfect!
The only slight negative was not enough drink choices.
Perhaps add Bundaberg Ginger beer & Lemon lime & bitters (non-alcoholic staples)
The crew were fun & friendly with great local knowledge.
Boat had a canopy overhead & zip-down see through ‘windows’ if needed to cater for inclement weather conditions.
We had the perfect weather; balmy & refreshing in the Darwin humidity!
Gorgeous sunset too & magic views of the city skyline all lit up when we were motoring back to the dock!!
Disappointed not in our captains, Laura and Penny (they were lovely and took time to chat with us) or the amazing fresh fish and chips (some of the best we've had) or complimentary stubby holders (❤️ the artwork) but in the way our group appeared to be tacked onto the booking of a private function. Us (a group of 5) and another family (of 4) were relegated to the back of the boat, where the views aren't the best and/or are limited. Had we been notified, I would have happily swapped our booking date/time (disappointed for group also that thought they'd booked boat to themselves). I'd brought my partners family on this tour after previously doing this back in 2021. Talking it up, saying how it was such a unique experience. Sadly, second time round, very underwhelming. Not only with the seats allocated but with the fact that we didn't seem to follow any particular course. We basically just bobbed about in the Harbor
Anyway, enough said.
The craft was full yet everyone could see all and above all hear what the captain had to say plus the most rewarding explanation of the mangroves by the on board marine biologist - excellent.
Then came the piping hot barramundi (2 pieces) together with hot crispy chips to be ushered down with a choice of refreshments.
A trip around the bay and over to the main wharf - followed by a trip east to watch the red hot sun sink into the ocean - how good was that✅.
The after glow was amazing - then have the craft do a 180 degree turn and witness the golden full moon escape beyond the city skyline - that was awesome - not sure how they arranged that piece of magic👍
In conclusion - we can report that this trip, intimate in its delivery, was a fantastic interlude to our journey in the Top End.
Thank you Sea Darwin👍🍷
Would I recommend it, no but I’d recommend the museum highly.
The process around not disturbing the turtles as much as possible was fantastic and the meal on board was healthy and delicious.
Apart from this we were absolutely humbled by how amazing and lovely the crew were. I was quite pregnant on the trip and would have understood if they declined to take me (particularly given how limited these spots are), instead they went to an extraordinary effort to accommodate me, including changing boats, and were so lovely about it. I felt quite embarrassed to have caused such effort but extremely grateful. The trip was an absolutely sensational experience and so grateful to have been able to go and experience such a special part of the world. Thank you very, very much to everyone involved.
The tour could be improved if staff had a mike, so we could all hear what was being said. [I'm sure she had to repeat herself constantly.]
Enjoyed it all - guide & driver Trevor was informative & obliging with a welcome esky of icy bottled water which I felt like dousing myself with to cool off..🤓
On the harbour cruise, lucky us got to ferry past the majestic & biggest aircraft carrier in the British Navy - HMS Prince of Wales which had docked only 2 days before for a large scale military exercise with multiple nations. Port of Darwin & naval base flies under the radar in history & in the news but was & is a strategic defence base. Darwin Harbour is 60 x bigger than Sydney Harbour.
This guided tour & cruise was an eye opener & by the time my first visit to Darwin came to an end, I transformed into an enlightened Darwin devotee!
Ferry cruise included Anzac bikie handout & 5 mins bobbing over the sunken grave of WW2 casualties. A small TV screen in front of ferry showed sonar imaging of these vessels which made little sense & those at the back wld have visually blanked. A poignant Remembrance moment totally lost on us.
Instead of this meaningless offering - how about projecting an actual undersea video of these WW2 sunken ships a la Titanic & request a minute silence in remembrance & then distribute the bikies? A larger TV screen is needed. Can you Sea Darwin - this wld be a fitting tribute..👌🏽👌🏽✨️✨️
I learnt a lot and would recommend to visitors to Darwin.
The Bombing of Darwin tour was fab, very informative and engaging! Betty took us around in the new bus, I think she was more excited than us! Great tour and great guide.
Turtle tracks tour - I think this is the best tour I've ever been on. Our guides were brilliant, so knowledgeable and respectful of all the wildlife. We saw about 40 tiny turtles emerging from their nest, a beautiful thing to witness! Because it wasn't dark enough to release them, they were put in a canvas bag and given to my partner for safe keeping and warmth! So sweet. We then saw a mama turtle dig a nest and lay her eggs.
Releasing the babies under the milky way was an experience I'll never forget.
The boat ride back included food and drinks, which were lush!
We'd highly recommend Sea Darwin for their tours, and if we're ever in the Top End again, we'll be sure to book another 😊
Bus and boat were both comfortable and guides were very knowledgeable with many interesting stories.
Considerate of passengers and well worth a half day and the price.
One of the girls said this was the biggest swell they’d had as we were boarding
I was a Solo traveller and I was told I could only sit in the back row because other groups were booked together
Told we were given ‘ complimentary drinks’- that I paid for!
I got off before we left
Worth it 😀
Anzac biscuit a nice touch 👌
Once on the island, our minds were blown! We lost count of how many turtles we saw wandering up to the dunes to lay their eggs. The knowledgeable team were very respectful of the turtles and ensured we all stayed out of sight of the turtles, while we witnessed every step - from digging the nest and then the the egg chamber, laying the eggs, re-covering the nest with sand and heading back into the water to swim off into the sunset. It was amazing and the knowledge of the team was next level. We learnt so much and can’t recommend this trip enough…. Oh and did I mention the meal and drinks that were served, absolutely delicious. Thank you Sea Darwin for a fantastic evening
Virtual reality of bombing of Darwin, going inside RFD plane all great experiences.
.
From the moment we touched base with the staff we were treated as guests & taken care of.
The fish n chips were great & super fresh. The highlight for me was to see some of Darwin Harbour & learn just a little about this fascinating place. Staff were simply 10/10. We could not be happier. Initially I thought the cruise a bit expensive but by the time we disembarked, I felt we certainly got our moneys worth.
I highly recommend taking this cruise or any other this becomes provides. Knowledgeable, friendly, informative & fun.
Museum was great.
Guides on the boat very knowledgeable.
Bus tour showed us more than we could have found on our own.
The crew members were awesome, so nice and friendly.
Friendly attentive crew made for a lovely evening. Highly recommend.
Beautiful views and a gorgeous sunset.
Staff were all delightful
One free drink of your choice and opportunity to purchase additional if needed.
Highly recommend
