Beautiful food and Magnificent food highly recommend The food was plentiful and magnificent. The lodges cozy and snug with share bathrooms. The guides were very knowledgeable and the walks magnificent. Covered most of the area. Friendlies beach is beautiful and not much foot traffic. The host Anthony can not only cook up a storm but we were lucky enough to experience his musical talent by serenading the group in the evening.

Fabulous walking experience at Freycenet. Perfect! Brilliant trip. Our group loved the whole experience. The food was excellent, the guides, James and Reef, were outstanding. Beds were comfortable and the accommodation was great. Both days of walking were long but so scenic and interesting. We were all in our 60’s and managed it well. Thank you for having us. We would highly recommend this walk.

An incredible hiking experience with some incredible guides and hosts This experience is one of the best hiking experiences I have ever had. The lodge is extremely comfortable, and the staff are faultless. There were six of us and we had five staff - two knowledgeable guides and three lodge hosts who looked after us so well. Each day the hiking was quite different and there were options to cater for varying fitness levels. I don't want to write too much and give away the little surprises and professional touches that make this tour operator so special. I would like to say thank you for making my milestone birthday so memorable.

Great getaway and destress. I have just completed this hosted walk and it was truly magical. Our guides Billy and Liam where exceptional. Great knowledge, passion, thoughtfulness and great company. Our lodge hosts Noona and Philiipo were brilliant and spoilt us rotten. Nothing was too much trouble. The food they produced fresh was so tasty, of the area and plentiful. The four of them also worked together seamlessly as a team to make everything happen effortlessly. I did not want o leave like many of the other guests on the trip. The lodge is beautiful, tranquil and a joy to stay at. It was conducive to people mixing. This was enhanced by the mood set by our hosts and guides. We did some really great walks with fantastic scenery. Saw lots of birds, animal, flowers and dolphins. I had a fantastic time. Thankyou.

Phenomenal Experience Review From start to finish this experience is amazing. Freycinet itself is breathtakingly beautiful, but being led on the less taken tracks by incredibly knowledgeable guides really makes the experience something special. Our guides Emma and Brayden were both are so passionate about the flora, fauna and history of the park and Tasmania as a whole. They would answer any questions the group had on top of all the information they had to share. Our lodge hosts Marcela and Flicka were also fantastic! Not only was every piece of food so tasty, but they were a wealth of knowledge on the area. The lodge itself is exactly as stated in the description and you’ll learn more about the history when you arrive. The walks are on less taken tracks and for the most part, our group were the only people we saw. Communication from the guides and hosts on what we are doing and when was incredible and my expectations matched the information every time. I highly recommend this experience for a way to see a ton of the park and learn a LOT about the area in a non-overwhelming way in just a few days:)

Beautiful but lacking in service Whilst the walks were lovely and not too challenging - the lodge, food and staff were not to the standard I expected. Most significantly was the lack of WARMTH! We did arrive in very wet weather but the staff did not seem to address the issue of the patrons sitting inside with coats, beanies and blankets. The fire was ridiculously small and I was told by one of the walk leaders that I shouldn't put more wood on it!! I was in shock!! I understand that when you are working you do not feel the cold but it was very obvious that the visitors were all clearly very uncomfortable. This was repeated throughout our stay (no fire at breakfast, fire not ready for our return from walks etc) and made for a very unpleasant experience. The food was tasty but limited - the 'continental breakfast' one day was cereal and a small bowl of berries to share between 10 people. No coffee / tea available at all times and they ran out of milk on our last day! Servings were to the exact number which did not take into account different appetites, my partner was able to eat some of my share but there were no other options (some cookies / snacks on the sideboard with drinks freely available would make a big difference). It is NOT a luxury retreat and the sound of the composting toilet did not contribute to the serenity!! I was surprised that the main room had no insulation, seemed to have no double glazing and was not set up to be 'eco' for heating. One central fire place for the sleeping rooms that we kept going ourselves was not enough (and I can't imagine how cold it would be in the room furthest from the fire!!!). The architect also seemed to have designed the bedrooms to perfectly stub toes! Go for the walks - but take snacks and hope the weather isn't cold or you will FREEZE!!

My wife and I walked with Freycinet Experience during March and I couldn't be more impressed with their people, their approach to sustainability and the entire experience. Having the lodge to return from walking each day was so rewarding. The food experience was perfectly curated and chatting with the cooks each night was a lovely experience. Each day is a different walk with no backtracking. Our boat ride was a highlight with pods of dolphins escorting us down the peninsula. I even managed to catch a Flathead which feed the crew that night at dinner. I've walked with many different adventure companies and this was my favourite. A must do Tasmania experience.

Total Wilderness Immersion From the moment I stepped foot on that white sand and glimpsed that turquoise water I knew I was in for something special. To be able to walk alone with guides in pristine wilderness is very special. In the four days we spent on the Freycinet Peninsular we managed to explore many of the beaches, peaks, nooks and crannies while learning about its extraordinary history and culture. The guides are so generous with their knowledge and passionate about nature and ensuring their guests enjoy their day safely. Once back at the lodge we indulged in home made meals and became familiar with the local wines and spirits (whiskey and gin). It was lovely to be "off the grid" and enjoy the quietness that comes with being remote.

I didn't ecen miss the wi-fi This was a perfect 4 days. Great hiking, great food, great wine, a wonderful eco-lodge, with limited numbers and awesome support. Plus some surprises that I won't spoil by putting them here. I have done some much more ambitious treks (Kilimanjara, Nepal etc) but I can't imagine a better hiking experience that will suit all comers, and enable friends of all ability to have a wonderful shared experience. Kudos to all involved (especially Luke and Sam the hosts, and Jess, Danny and Emily the guides)

Hello, X6406VPstever! Thank you kindly for taking the time to review our four-day walking experience. It is so wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your time with us, and were so well looked after by our brilliant team! Your group would be most welcome back to join us on the Peninsula, perhaps during a different season! It is such a treat to observe how the landscape changes from spring, to summer, through to autumn (you might also be interested to hear more about our Lodge Based bookings available for return guests who might fancy a little more down time at our beach side eco-lodge!). We wish you all the very best for your future travels and hope to see you on the Peninsula again! Warmest, The Freycinet Experience Team

Fantastic walk and lodge We went on the Freycinet Experience Walk immediately after having completed the Bay of Fires Lodge Walk (see our separate review). These two walks were similar in many ways, even the lodges were designed by the same architect. However, as much as they were similar, they were also different. The Freycinet Experience Walk does not have the same remote and windswept feel of the Bay of Fires, in fact, there was a small cruise liner anchored in Wine Glass Bay. However, while there are more people around in the Freycinet National Park, the walk itself had a more intimate and personal feel to it. On the first day a short boat trip to Schouten Island – with detours to admire the marine birds – was a great way to relax. While my wife and I opted to go fishing for flathead in the afternoon, the rest of the group opted to climb Bear Hill. The boat captain knows the best fishing spots and we took over 30 flathead – these were served for dinner that evening. The next two days involved about 7 hours of walking each day (about 14 km a day). The walks, most of which were off the beaten track, were fantastic with a combination of beach, inland and cliff top treks. The landscapes and wildlife (mainly birds) make all the effort worthwhile. The walks were at a reasonable pace but included frequent refreshments stops – as well as opportunities to go swimming in in the fantastic surf. On the third day we were unable to use the boat to access Bluestone Bay due to rough seas and walked from the main national park carpark – the alternative walks were excellent and secluded once we made some progress away from the car park. While Wine Glass Bay was fairly busy when we arrived, everyone seemed to disappear at lunch time leaving the bay to us. The highlight of the walk are the fantastic guides and Beach Lodge. Our guides were enthusiastic and knowledgeable - especially Isaac, who is the grandson of the founder of the walk and lodge, and gave insights into the history and philosophy of the walk and the lodge. Nothing was too much trouble for Amy and Isaac, and the team at the Lodge. The lodge is designed to sleep about 10 guests and has enough rooms to cater for some singles (at no extra cost). The sleeping area is split into two smaller lodges with a sitting room with fireplace and shared bathroom facilities (including a bath) in each. The main central lodge includes a large sitting room, library, decks and dining area. The food is excellent and includes ample wine and beer. The design and feel of the lodge are fantastic providing an intimate atmosphere but also privacy if desired. The lodge is hidden from the beach and is nestled among trees at the top of the hill above the beach. Highly recommended

Dear SWAK, Thank you kindly for your review, it is wonderful to hear that you felt the intimate and homely atmosphere that our team endeavour to create. We are so lucky to have such a secluded and peaceful space to come home to, and to share! As a family owned operation, we are delighted to hear that Isaac was able to share our story with you personally. Should you wish to share the experience with others, returning guests are always most welcome, either on our signature four-day walking trips, or, on our lodge-based or personalised experiences (you might find our shoulder seasons to your liking, with fewer visitors to the Peninsula). Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to hear more. Until then, best wishes, and happy traveling. Warm regards, Zoe (on behalf of the Freycinet Experience Team).

The best kept secret I reluctantly divulge this piece of paradise to TripAdvisor readers. Firstly the name is so apt- the guides and team are genuinely in love with what they do. Authenticity is in everything they do. Secondly the experience is tailored for those who want to work up a sweat ( Thanks Dan for jogging 10km at 6am) , climbing a mountain or a leisurely 14 km beach walk. The team structure each day so smartly. Where else can the guide dive into the sea and pull out a massive abelone for dinner? And the respect for the wilderness was to leave the other few dozen in the sea. Friendly beach is about 8kms and I saw absolutely no one else on it through my binoculars. Wineglass Bay reminds me of the best lakes in Europe except it’s a bay in the sea. The place is heaven- miles of empty beaches, translucent seas, and what great hosts! They ( Dan and Gemma) can really cook- the food was exquisite. I’ve traveled around the world and the best place seems to be on my own doorstep. Just do it.

spectacular scenery and amazing hospitality Words and photos aren't enough to describe how insanely beautiful and momentous this experience was. I climbed mountains, saw astounding sunsets, learnt history about the history of the land and tasted some incredible food and wine. The architecturally designed accommodation offered everything we needed for four days and fits seamlessly into the surrounding landscape and coastal woodland. The walks were the perfect balance of a physical challenge to be conquered and awe-inspiring views. Our guides, Holly, Danny and Dan were considerate, supportive, so easy to connect with and always willing to go the extra mile to enhance our experience. Dan and Gemma prepared us some incredible meals (and good wine) made with local produce to enjoy out on the trail and back at the lodge after a long day exploring. We were never hungry. Our skipper, Noah (yes, his actual name) and our bus river, Lauren also shared their knowledge and passion for Freycinet. I can't give enough praise to the incredible crew who took such good care of our group. You feel their love for their work and their experience and understanding of what makes Freycinet magical. Intimate, reflective, moving and de-toxing, choose Freycinet Experience Walk and you'll have four days you'll remember for the rest of your life - hot tip: turn off the phone, be sparing with the camera, just take in the moment and breathe the fresh air

Stunning location and dedicated crew This walk was spectacular, the accommodation secluded but close to Friendly Beaches. But the highlight was the crew that made the experience a memorable one - Hectors love of nature, Jess' organisational skills, Noah's boating skills, Gemma's calm nature and Dans humour. One day it was unsafe to walk due to risk of fire. No problem, we beach hopped in the boat instead. One night I was taken down to the beach at night to sea the sparkling phosphorescence waves, a highlight. The food and wine was great too!

Truly magical My wife, 12 year old son, and I did this walk in December 2018, and we absolutely loved it. True, it's very expensive, but -- beyond the cost -- it was an absolute gem of an experience, and we would do it again in a heartbeat.

Great walks and experiences Thank you to everyone at the Freycinet Experience Walk for a great 4 days of hiking. I was one of a small group for the four days but everyone’s needs were looked after. My specific need was gluten free food, I was impressed that if the other hikers were given raison toast or scones, I was given the gluten free version. We had two guides that took us out every day and we were able to split into two groups on one day to cater for different walking interests. The highlight for me was sitting on the beach of Wineglass Bay on the second day, it was truly breathtaking. Thank you for the lovely food, it was 5 class and the accommodation was comfy especially after a day of walking. It was nice to socialise with the guides and the cooks for dinner and before and after dinner too.

The team at Freycinet Experience go above and beyond to ensure that each person has the best experience possible. They turn a great experience into a magical one. Special dietary requirements- not a problem. Gourmet meals appear as if by magic. Walks are taken at your own pace so you can fully appreciate the beauty of the Freycinet Peninsula . The guides share their knowledge of the area, it's flora and fauna in a way that captures and keeps your interest. Friendly Lodge is an oasis of luxury in this wonderful place with its stunningly beautiful beaches and rocky headlands. The Freycinet Experience is simply the best way to see this area and it's the only trip I'd consider doing again because it was so much fun.
