Well this trip is a definite must do trip when holidaying in Albany we went at the end of May autumn and the day was cooler but well protected on boat great hot home made damper hot tea or Coffee . The Oysters were so good then strawberries and honey. Captin jack was full of knowledge funny and we loved every bit of the trip Thankyou will definitely do it again.

Fantastic value for money tour. Go ahead and book you won't regret it. We are local to Albany now and we waited for friends to visit so we could do it together and it was excellent. Fantastic Cruise and well worth the money

Best Experience on the Kalgan Queen We booked to go on the Kalgan Queen for our Wedding Anniversary. On the day of our trip, we received a phone call to say the weather was not good and would have to cancel. We were disappointed but understood and really wouldn't have enjoyed the rain and the cold weather. We didn't rebook for about five days. In the meantime they tried to contact us to rebook or refund our money. Due to family commitments in Perth we didn't respond and they refunded our money when they didn't hear from us. I then rebooked after 5 days and was able to get seats on the Friday. We had a wonderful trip up the Kalgan River, enjoyed Capain Jack's humor and knowledge of the history of Albany. He made the whole trip fun and exciting. We were invited to eat oysters from the local oyster farm and strawberries from the local strawberry farm as well as having a cuppa with their homemade damper, which was wonderful. The whole trip was an adventure with Perch the Pelican and his friends, the local osprey displaying the way they catch their fish.
This is a memory we will treasure and tell all our friends and family, when in Albany, the Kalgan Queen tour is a must. Thank you so much. This was our second trip, as good as our first.

A peaceful river cruise A peaceful time on the river learning about the Albany area and wildlife. Our captain Jack was incredibly knowledgeable and interesting and a few funny stories along the way. Eagles dropped in for a fish as did osprey and just a few pelicans, a pod of dolphins to add to the enjoyment.

We had the most incredible time on the Kalgan Queen Riverboat Cruise!

From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect.

The scenery along the Kalgan River is stunning so peaceful and full of natural beauty. We saw so much wildlife, including birds, stingrays and even some fish jumping, which made it extra special. The boat itself is charming and comfortable, and the pace of the cruise is so relaxing.

The highlight was definitely the friendly and knowledgeable captain . He made the whole experience feel welcoming and fun, sharing great stories and local history along the way. My favourite being honeymoon island story.

The food and drinks were also a lovely touch, making it feel like a complete experience rather than just a cruise.

If you’re in Albany, this is an absolute must do. Such a unique and memorable way to see the area. we’d do it again in a heartbeat!

Entertaining, scenic, interesting, relaxing tour with Captain Jack Captain Jack has you covered with, geography, history, birdology, some anecdotes, a cuppa and a homemade damper bread at the halfway mark and some fresh oysters if you’re a fan. The highlight: Jack keeps a supply of fish on board for a variety of birds of prey and his adopted pelican who accompanies the Kalgan Queen as she returns to port at Emu point. Would recommend.

A great boat trip A must do boat trip. Very knowledgeable and funny trip guide. Lots of Birds to photograph even though the day was pouring with rain. Was also treated to damper bread and tea, honey and strawberries. 4 hours well spent and for those that need it a toilet in the corner of the boat. Would highly recommend.

An experience must when visiting Albany WA Great experience and Captain Jonathon was a wealth of knowledge and humour. Cost was comfortable for the 4 hour voyage. All customers said they enjoyed it especially the Damper and Oyster tasting.

A fantastic way to spend time in Albany! During the relaxing, nature filled scenic cruise, Jack gave a very informative narrative on Albany's rich history, current life style and it's future. Jack has a way with words that is entertaining and informative. He has a wonderful sense of humour that had everyone engaged and laughing. Both the damper (made by Jack's mom) and tea were delicious. Jack kept us enthralled with his knowledge of the history of the area and his interaction with the sea eagles.

We were able to wash it down with fresh tea or coffee.
It was 4 hours well spent cruising Oyster Harbour and the peaceful Kalgan River.

Incredible Tour My husband and I are retired and travel the world extensively. We signed up for this tour as part of a cruise ship excursion. It was incredible. The owner operator (Captain Jack) was a “one-man band”. He steered the boat through the harbor and river, all the while sharing engaging stories about Albany, its history, its citizens, mammals, birds and fish and sharing delicious farm-to-table culinary treats. We truly could not have asked for more. The tour surpassed our expectations.

The best thing we did in Albany. The pelicans (especially Perch), the ospreys, the sea eagle and of course Jack! A mine of information, funny, informative and engaging with everyone. The oysters and strawberries were delicious, the home grown honey tasting was so good we brought a jar and the damper was addictive (first time eater and well impressed, will definately try to recreate in England!) A Must Do Trip when Visiting Albany A most enjoyable 4 hours trip, knowledgable captain Jack ( including the corny jokes ) during the trip we saw Osprey’s and Sea Eagles taking fish along with Perch the Pelican who has adopted Jack and jumps onboard to greet one and all. A wonderful local experience This tour is a must when in Albany. This is our second time being entertained and informed by Jack. He has a wealth of local and random knowledge and offers a great value for money experience. Our British relatives loved it

Absolutely the best tour guide I’ve come across- great recall, knowledge of history and interesting facts, a poet, oyster king, coffee maker— not to mention navigator, captain and producer of yummy home made damper. Then there’s his very own honey from his bees… kept us entertained for the four hour tour of the lovely Kalgan river of Albany, WA.

We joined Jack on the Kalgan Queen yesterday and had a great time. Dad booked the tour, so I didn't have much of an idea of what to expect. The last thing I expected was to be joined by Pelicans on the jetty and in the boat! Amazing experience seeing these creatures up close and learning more about them.

The cruise was leisurely in pace, filled with knowledge and plenty of laughs. Bring warm clothing and probably some waterproofs if you're sitting near the front.

Tea and coffee were served at around the 3 hour mark. Before that we'd had an Albany rock oyster, a taste of Jack's locally made honey and his mum's home made beeswax lip balm (both great) and the deliciously savoury and hearty damper - it's not bread!

All in all, 10/10, would recommend to all tourists and locals. The story of Honeymoon Island was incredible. Thanks Jack

Best River Cruise I went with my husband for his 80th Birthday. Captain Jack was very entertaining and his knowledge of the history of Albany was excellent. Pelican Perch was entertaining and great to see the Green Island wherevpelican's breed. Feeding the Osphey's on the water was wonderful to see up close. We were offered local oysters & strawberries. Enjoyed a coffee/tea with a special home made damper. It was all wonderful and I am already recommending it to family & friends. Thank you Jack for such an entertaining trip.

A great tour of the Kalgan River We had an amazing cruise with Jack as our boat operator and commentator. He had a great recall of the history of Albany and was very entertaining and kept us all interested. The damper was so tasty and the tea and coffee hot. The four hours went very quickly. Would love to do it again

A great way to see Albany from the water A great morning cruise in a small group, max 30 people. On the day we had 21 people and it was a comfortable number. It was a cooler day and the weather in Albany can be a bit cold and wet so bring a jacket. Jack the skipper was very engaging, knowledgeable and entertaining. We started with pelicans feeding from the side of the boat followed by white bellied sea eagle and a few ospreys being thrown a herring to watch them swoop in. It was very interesting and narrated by Jack with lots of facts about the birds. There's home made damper ant tea/coffee halfway and its a 4 hr trip. A great way to see Albany from the water and learn about the history and wildlife, highly recommended.

You can tell that he is passionate about wildlife and also history of the area. FABOULOUS TRIP. FULL OF FUN This was a great trip and experience right from the start. Feeding the Pelicans right at the start and feeding other birds all the way through. The skipper Jack was full of knowledge and a great humourist. He told the story of the area and sights in a very informative and funny way that was a far stretch from normal boring facts and figures commentaries you usually get.
The river sights were good and the damper at the end was great.
My warning would be that without Jack and his humour it would probably be just another river trip

Jack the comedian on Kalgan Queen I did this cruise with fellow passengers on the Silver Nova. Jack made the 4.5 hour cruise delightful. He not only entertained us but entertained the pelicans and osprey as well. He involved his family in his tales and shared his raw honey and the lip balm and special damper made by his mother. Only caution is that future passengers should consider the weather and bring extra clothing for warmth.

We were looking for a tour after doing the Munda Biddi trail. We had a great experience- our guide Jack was incredibly informative about the history of the area and the river- his sense of humour and love of the area really came through- great poetry too! I’d really recommend it.

Kalgan Queen I went on this trip 20years ago with my sister and family and it was the best trip then..this year I bought my sister back to go on the Kalgan Queen. Jack you are hilarious, the funniest Captain I've ever met. Your knowledge of the area is immense, I learnt so much from you.

King George Sound Safari (Albany, WA)

We had an amazing time on the King George Sound Safari. Captain Jack was friendly, funny, and full of local knowledge, which made the trip both educational and relaxed. We cruised past the harbour and out into the sound, spotting wildlife and seabirds along the way. Morning tea was a nice touch with fresh strawberries, honey and hot dampers and the small group size made it easy to ask questions and enjoy the view. The boat felt safe and comfortable, and the whole experience was well run. Highly recommend if you’re in Albany and want a great day on the water

What an incredible experience with Captain Jack on the Kalgan Queen. A memorable day with a hilariously enecdotal history lesson of the city of Albany and the Kalgan River. Humour, idioms and poetry were the order of the day interspersed by Stingrays, Swallows, Pelicans, Ibis, Darter birds, Cormarinds, Ospreys and Sea Eagles; all of which seem to be friends of the charismatic Captain. This cruise is an absolute must if your visiting Albany.

Seven of us had a great time today. Lots of fun, history, fun facts, great views of the area and wildlife, and great poetry from the skipper as well. Yummy damper and interactions with the pelicans topped off a great 4 hours. Highly recommend.

We had a delightful cruise with lots of info about the area, the local flora and fauna, history of Aboriginal tribes in the area, colonial and modern history. All this was told with humour between tossing fish to pelicans and ospreyand reciting original poetry.
It's a family run business with son, Jack, on the boat and mum making the BEST Herb and Cheese Damper I've ever eaten. We also had fresh strawberries, tastings of honey from Jack's bee hives along with coffee and tea brewed at the back of the boat.
We were greeted at the boat by Perch, a rescued female pelican who has firmly attached herself to Jack for 18 years.
It was a special experience and I highly recommend it for all ages.

Amazing and fun way to explore and learn about Albanys history, see wildlife while cruising the river. We had a great time and would recommend to anyone. Saw pelicans, stingrays, dolphins, all different kind of birds and heard so many interesting stories along this 4h cruise.

A fantastic morning on the river SO MUCH FUN! Captain Jack is a warm welcoming storyteller, full of knowledge about the Kalgan River's history and wildlife. We took the cruise on our last full day in Albany and it was a great finish. My favorite quote: when you've spent 18 years around pelicans, you learn to recognize each one by sight.
