Elite Steeds and Scenic Trails
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the expert Hallmark Farm team, fitted with safety helmets, and introduced to your horse. These beautiful, seasoned steeds are specially selected from the famous Hallmark Farm in Woodside, owned by dual Olympian and Silver medal Olympian Megan Jones and her husband James Deacon. 🐴
After a brief safety demonstration, you will set off on a scenic 45-minute guided trail ride. Wind through a designated course offering magnificent hill and vineyard views, with plenty of opportunities to pause for photos while your guide shares the rich history of Petaluma.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my booking go ahead during warm (35°C+) or rainy weather?
Yes. Petaluma and/or Hallmark Farm will contact you directly if weather conditions are deemed unsuitable or too dangerous to facilitate the experience. Cancellations due to weather are rare and generally occur only during extreme events (such as catastrophic fire danger days or heavy rainfall). In most cases, guests will receive at least 24 hours’ notice.
What should I wear?
Riders must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes with a small heel. Shorts and skirts are not permitted. Hallmark Farm provides all required safety equipment, including helmets.
Can I book as a solo rider?
Yes, solo riders are welcome! Please arrange directly with the cellar door team. Please note that a minimum of two guests is required for the experience to operate, so availability for solo riders depends on existing bookings.
Why do I need to advise my weight and height?
Hallmark Farm uses height, weight, and riding ability to match each guest with a suitable horse, ensuring the comfort and safety of both riders and horses.
What is the duration of this experience?
- Approximately 1 hour for the safety briefing, equipment fitting, and trail ride.
- Followed by a 45-minute guided wine tasting at Petaluma Cellar Door.

Essential Facts for Safe Trail Riding
Trail riding at Petaluma involves important legal and safety considerations.
- Liability Waiver: Participants must sign a waiver. Scroll down to find the ‘Download File’ link to complete the waiver. This can otherwise be completed on-site, prior to the commencement of your experience.
- Participant Duties: Riders must follow safety rules, report injuries, as well as wear appropriate clothing and approved helmets.
Understanding these points helps ensure informed participation and compliance with legal requirements. Review all obligations before joining a ride.
Once the waiver is complete, please submit it to Hallmark Farm prior to your booked date.

Arrival: Please arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled start time for check-in and a safety briefing. Late arrivals may result in a shortened experience or forfeiture without refund.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Booking & Payment: Full payment is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation.
- Guest Information: For safety and comfort, guests are required to provide their height, weight and rider experience at the time of booking to ensure appropriate horse allocation and guide preparation. A liability waiver will be required to be completed prior to commencing the experience.
- Age: Minimum age for participation is 10 years, riders under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- Attire: Riders must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes with a small heel; shorts and skirts are not accepted. Hallmark Farm provides all required safety gear, including helmets. Guests are welcome to bring their own helmet; however, it must be thoroughly inspected and approved by Hallmark Farm prior to use.
- Weight Limit: For anyone over a 120kg, please enquire directly.
- Fitness & Health: Participants should have a reasonable level of fitness and mobility. These experiences are not suitable for guests who are pregnant or have certain medical conditions (e.g., back or neck issues). Please disclose any relevant health concerns prior to booking.
- Cancellations by Guests: A minimum of 72 hours’ notice is required for cancellations. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the experience are non-refundable. Booking changes requested within 72 hours of the experience may be accommodated at Petaluma’s discretion and will incur an administration fee of $75 per person. Guests must contact Petaluma directly.
- Cancellations by Operator: Experiences may be cancelled by the operator with no less than 2 hours’ notice due to operational or safety reasons (e.g., weather conditions). In such cases, guests will be contacted by Hallmark Farm & Petaluma to reschedule or to cancel with a full refund.
- Weather Policy: In the event of extreme weather (e.g., catastrophic fire danger, storms, heavy rain), the experience may be rescheduled or refunded at the operator’s discretion. In such cases, guests will be contacted directly by Hallmark Farm & Petaluma to reschedule or to cancel with a full refund.
- Arrival: Guests must arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time for check-in and a comprehensive safety briefing.
- Late Arrival: Please arrive on time. Late arrivals may result in a shortened or rescheduled experience, guests who are more than 15 minutes late to their booking will forfeit the booking time with no refund. An additional fee of $50.00 per head will be required if you wish to reschedule to a later time that day (dependent on availability) or to re-book on another day.
- No-Show Policy: Guests who fail to attend their scheduled booking without prior notice will forfeit their booking and are not entitled to a refund.
- Liability Waiver: All participants must sign a liability waiver prior to the horse-riding component.
- Alcohol Consumption: For safety reasons, all riders must have a BAC of 0.000 prior to the horse-riding component. Guests who appear intoxicated or fail to meet this requirement will not be permitted to ride, and no refund will be provided.
- Alcohol Service Timing: Wine tastings and alcohol consumption occur after the horse-riding component. Each tasting flight is equivalent to 1.5 standard drinks.
- Personal Belongings & Photography: Guests are responsible for their personal belongings. Photography during the ride should only be done when safe or as directed by the guide.
- Availability: All experiences are subject to availability and may be altered or substituted at the operator’s discretion.
