The Locale Food Tour has been carefully curated to showcase the premium quality South Australian and international produce available in our store, the stories of our suppliers and the knowledge and expertise of our team.
The tour gives guests an informative and hands-on experience which may include spice blending, insights into chocolate making and wood oven cooking, a taste of coffee culture and an introduction to salumi.
The experience also includes generous tastings, expert advice and cooking tips, and a glass or two of wine along the way.
The Locale Food Tour ends with a sit-down Chef’s Table lunch created by our team of in-store chefs using fresh produce and ingredients sourced from our store — the world’s biggest pantry — paired with wine.

From the moment you walk in, it’s clear this isn’t your average suburban supermarket. The layout, atmosphere and breadth of products give it a market-style feel with plenty to explore — from fresh produce and artisan deli items to international ingredients and gourmet goodies.
What stands out:
🥦 Fresh, high-quality produce — The fruit and vegetable section is crisp, colourful and generally sourced locally.
🧀 Speciality food selection — A huge variety of cheeses, charcuterie, international pantry goods and boutique items that you won’t easily find at bigger chain supermarkets.
🍞 In-house offerings — The bakery, seafood and butcher counters all get great mentions for quality and variety, plus there’s ready-to-eat food from places like Mr Nick’s Kitchen & Coffee Bar.
☕ Ambience and service — Friendly, helpful staff and a lively atmosphere make shopping here feel enjoyable rather than rushed or utilitarian.
🎉 Community focus — Occasional live music, tasting experiences and even gourmet food tours add to the impression that this is a place for food lovers, not just grocery shoppers.
What to be aware of:
🛒 Price — Some items, particularly gourmet or imported goods, can be pricier than standard supermarkets — but many customers find the quality and variety worth it.
🕰️ Traffic on weekends — It can be busy during peak hours or special events, which might slow down your shop a bit.
Overall:
Pasadena Foodland earns its strong reputation as one of Adelaide’s favourite local supermarkets. With excellent fresh produce, a wide range of specialty foods, great service and a lively, community-minded atmosphere, it’s a great choice whether you’re doing a weekly grocery shop or simply want to browse and enjoy good food.
The cheese selection is possibly the best in Australia. Huge selection. Also great baked goods. Fresh food. The rest of the supermarket is like any other. Except the coffee shop at the back, the extra shop the front. And I suppose the extra range of stuff you cant get at wollies and coles. So yeah, its pretty damn good.
I visited the seafood section at approximately 7:50 PM on August 26, 2025, to purchase some salmon. By that time, most of the fish had already been packed away in the freezer, and Chris was busy cleaning the counter. When I asked if salmon was still available, he responded with a warm smile and said, “Yes, we do have – how much would you like?”
I requested 1.5kg of salmon and asked whether it was skin-on or off. Chris explained it was skin-on but immediately offered—without hesitation—to skin it off for me, cheerfully adding that it was no trouble at all. When I asked why the display was already packed down, he kindly explained that the department closes at 8 PM, so they begin cleaning and packing a little earlier to ensure everything is finished on time.
Despite being at the end of his shift and in the middle of closing duties, Chris served me with patience, positivity, and genuine customer care. When I thanked him, he smiled again and said, “Happy to do anything for the customer.” That kind of attitude is rare these days and truly stood out to me.
I want to sincerely thank Chris for going above and beyond—his professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to help left a very positive impression. Experiences like this make a huge difference and are no doubt a key part of Pasadena Foodland’s success. Chris is certainly an asset to your team, Mr. Nick.
👏 Thank you again, Chris. I look forward to seeing you on my next “fish hunt”!
Nice variety of fresh bread and some are better priced than the 2 big supermarkets.
Interesting selection of Asian shelf and freezer products.
Love the spice section and the selection of organic spices as well.
Lots of free off street parking.
Had an awesome time here & to finish it off our cashier ( Miah) was really friendly. Hopefully we can get back sometime 🙏🙏❤️❤️
We've been many times for lunch plus their very informative weekly tours of the supermarket.
