A really special time was had by our little group of four. Thank you particularly to Alex and Matteo!
The rising of the full moon over the Rock made for a cover photo shot.
The walk is anti-clockwise so we walked for about 40 mins from the car park, each armed with a nifty SEIT satchel containing our breakfast, thus walking to meet the rising sun. First stop was to sit and watch the changing colours of the rock, along with Lucia explaining native stories attached to unique features of the rock.
The entire walk is 10.5kms following the path around Uluru (no fear of getting lost but Lucia was excellent about keeping our little group moving, with frequent rest stops and two public bathroom stops).
There aren't many explanations or photos of the SEIT breakfast but the satchel included a small flask of hot water, zip lock bag with disposable spoon, tea bag, instant coffee and sugar sachet, a fruit cup, small container of orange juice, another small container of milk, a pouch of muesli, two small Anzac cookies, a muesli bar and 500ml bottle of water. At our second bathroom stop, we happily ate more of the breakfast supplies (less to carry, really).
One gets hot, dusty, footsore and tired, but Lucia dropped us back at our respective hotels and it was only 11.45am! Just in time to wash up in our hotel room and head to the hotel's bistro for lunch. All in all, an excellent half day tour, a full walk (trek) around Uluru and really seeing all of the rock's geographic features that photos don't do justice.
Peter was carrying a plastic spray bottle of water, misting all of us at regular intervals to keep everyone hydrated on the outside, and reminding us to take small sips of water regularly too - sound ideas!
Just a thought - if it has been raining recently and the trail is wet, perhaps consider postponing this little tour to another day if you can possibly manage it. The incline is grade 3, the trail is rock and could be really slippery underfoot.
Well worth the early start! The highlight of our trip.
Highly recommend
Excellent!
Our kids are twelve and enjoyed the entire trip!
On the tour, we spend more time in the van driving than at the site. It takes 45 minutes to drive to Kata Tjuṯan and the gorge walk is only and hour and fifteen minutes. Tour makes no sense. The poor guide had to come up with an hour and a half of information.
Watching the sunrise over Ayers Rock during the breakfast stop was absolutely breathtaking. The food itself (coffee, tea, and pastries) was decent enough, but the real star is the spectacular view.
The short walk around part of the rock was both informative and manageable, even in the height of summer. The drive around the base was another highlight, giving a rare opportunity to see the rock from multiple angles—something you don’t fully appreciate from the resorts.
Throughout the tour, we learned a detailed history of Uluru and its deep significance to the local Aboriginal people, adding even more depth to the experience. The sheer awe-inspiring beauty of the rock is something that must be seen in person. Highly recommend this tour!
The breakfast pack was delicious and very filling - I wasn't sure what to expect, however the options provided exceeded my expectations and was very thoughtfully put together.
We would definitely recommend this organisation and tour to visitors to Uluru.
