A 1770 must do We had a great day! Whitey and Tristan were engaging and knowledgeable! We saw wildlife in and out of the water !
Having dietary needs often precludes me from this type of thing, but, from GF bikkies with morning tea to a delicious ham and salad bowl for lunch , I was thrilled! Wal and Pat ( volunteers) at the lighthouse were so proud to share the stories and history of times gone by . Hitting the sand dunes and a swim on the way home was a great way to finish the day . This is definitely a must do!

Worth while tour and adventure. Superb day! A bit of history, nature, mystery and nature and a toboggan down the sand dune! Highly recommend.

Land to sea in one giant LARC We did the 1 hour LARC tour today and our guide was Jono. Highly recommend doing, so many laughs, very well priced, we collected shells, saw some small sharks, and birds. Jono was very knowledgeable and is very good at being a guide, he's not very funny, he is hilarious. What a great guy. Thanks for the experience, Belinda and Chris from Bribie Island

Full Day Tour in the LARC 5 Had an awesome day. Our guides were excellent, informative, knowledgeable and great all round guys. What a fun day. From birds to marine life the information was extremely interesting. A great community that are very environmentally conscious of their bit of paradise. Morning tea then off to the lighthouse, museum and back for lunch. Catering for all needs. Billy tea and then off again for sandboarding and a swim ( if you want). This is a highly recommend.

Terrific Full Day LARC tour Had a great full day tour on a very versatile LARC with excellent and entertaining guides. Very informative information about the beach environment and all the plants, birds & animals that hang about on this part of the coast. Quick morning tea and loo stop before driving up through headland to the Bustard Head lighthouse. The lighthouse keepers took us on a tour of the great museum, and also a climb to the top of the lighthouse. A nice preorganised lunch of wraps and Billy tea, then searching for turtles and rays, before a fun time sandboarding. Highly recommend this 1770 LARC Tour if you’re in the area.

An Amazing, Inclusive Experience for the Whole Family! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had such a fantastic experience with LARC! Tours and couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

From the moment we arrived, the team were incredibly friendly, welcoming and accommodating. What really stood out for our family was the effort they went to to make the tour accessible for our son, who uses a power wheelchair. They allowed us to take his power wheelchair on board the LARC, which meant he could participate comfortably and enjoy the experience with the rest of our family. That meant so much to us.

Nothing felt like too much trouble, and the Jono was genuinely happy to help. It’s not always easy finding activities that our whole family can enjoy together without having to compromise because of accessibility, so experiences like this are very special.

The tour itself was fantastic — interesting, fun and a great way to experience the beautiful 1770 area. The kids loved it and so did we.

A Must-Do Experience in 1770! What a fantastic way to spend an hour exploring 1770! We got to see parts of the area we otherwise would never have been able to experience.

Our driver, Jono, was an absolute highlight — a wealth of local knowledge, with plenty of witty commentary and great stories along the way. He made the whole experience both interesting and entertaining.

1770 LARC Paradise Tour Our family of five really enjoyed the full day Paradise tour, something my mother in law recommended. It exceeded our expectations! We got to experience a unique part of the coast, explore the museum and lighthouse which is not accessible to most people.
We had a delicious morning tea and lunch including a Billy tea! Our kids especially loved the sand boarding which was their highlight.
Our tour guides, Whitey and ‘Skip’ had a lot of cultural and local environmental knowledge that they shared and were humorous too! We highly recommend the Paradise Tour.

Something different to try! Going in an amphibious vehicle in this beautiful area is as good a way as any to spend an hour in the afternoon, something different to try out. Tristan, our skipper and guide, was good humoured and very informative about the area. We saw dolphins, pelicans, kites, boobies (?) and other lovely sea birds. We booked through TripAdvisor for a 2pm trip but were later advised by the tour operator that this was incorrect, it was a 4pm departure, which meant we had to alter our onward plans for the day. Maybe there could be better synchronicity between the operator's and third party booking system? Also, had to sign a waiver before being able to read it .while it was a standard form, users should be first shown the content of the waiver before signing. Anyways, it was an enjoyable experience that I'd recommend.

So enjoyable such a lovely relaxing place with plenty to do and beautiful sights Accomodation was wonderful trips we took were enjoyable and informative and scenery beautiful

Great way to experience 1770 Great experience. Tristan was our skipper. Fun & upbeat. Felt very safe. Saw heaps of dolphins and enjoyed a magnificent sunset.

Entertaining, educational and fun! What a great day! From start to finish we were entertained, educated and cared for by our guide and driver.
We gained a greater appreciation for the environment and learned about the history of the area.
The light station was really interesting and offered amazing 360 degree views.
What's hard life these lighthouse keepers lived!!
Sand tobogganing was heaps of fun but for those of us protecting dodgy shoulders and knees the spectating was enough. Loved seeing the soldier crabs marching around the sand flats.
We arrived back at base with a bonus of seeing dolphins and to be able to just join them in the ocean was bizarre but wonderful.
Food was excellent, especially the Anzac biscuits and real billy tea.

A fabulous afternoon What a wonderful way to spend an hour in 1770 seeing parts of the area that we otherwise would not have been able to get to. Our driver Johnno was a wealth of information with his witty commentary and extensive local knowledge. Simply loved it would recommend to anyone.

Worth a look when your in 1770

Bucket List trip of a lifetime. I had read the lighthouse of tragedy book and wanted to see it. The best way was by LARC. This was recommended and did not disappoint. The guide (Paul) gave an excellent commentary of wildlife forna and historical geography. While our Skipper Gave the lighthouse tour and more (stories, corny jokes etc) He introduced us to Vivienne and so much more. One of the best tours I have ever done. Great value for the money, stunning scenery and fabulous history. a real bucket list to do. plus a great lunch..

The Little Pink Boat That Could Awesome company and experience! Whitey and Jono were our guides and they made the day awesome for everyone on board. For what you get out of the experience, it's well worth the really reasonable price that they charge and I recommend grabbing a book or two like we did while you're there!

A day full of memories. What a great day we had today on the Full Day 1770 LARC tour. The skipper and Warren kept us entertained with stories, information and fantastic scenery. Filled with history, jokes and fun experiences combined with fine food for morning tea and lunch. Had a great time.

Arvo LARC cruise Really great fun for everyone. Jono our guide provided excellent commentary and knowledge of the area, a great afternoon.

Highly recommend. Back from this afternoons cruise. Absolutely brilliant, and Jono was super. We struggled to hear initially, but once we were used to surroundings, we mainly heard most of what he was saying !

So much fun. Loved LARC tour. What a great adventure and fun way to take in the beauty and wildlife of 1770. Our guide was great - knowledgeable, enthusiastic and funny. The trip was enjoyed by young and old alike. We will be back to take the full day trip in July. It is a must do when visiting the area.

Full Day Paradise Tour - Spectacular! My husband and I went on the full day Paradise Tour and can't recommend it highly enough! Despite being from the Gladstone Region, we learned so much more that we didn't know about local history, wildlife and much, much more, including the amazing LARC vehicle itself. Whitey and Jono were our guides/skip and their stories and information along the way was so interesting, detailed and also humorous. The scenery all day was spectacular, particularly crossing the creeks and climbing up to the lighthouse itself for fabulous 360 degree views. Morning tea, lunch and the billy tea made by Whitey at the bush camp was very welcome. Our fantastic day was topped off by sandboarding and a swim before the return drive to 1770. If you haven't booked this fabulous day out, you're missing out. Informative, interesting, adventurous and scenic from start to finish - great value and you won't be disappointed!

So happy!! This was our first time being in 1770 and the hour Larc tour was absolutely such an experience to tick off! Our guide Isabel was great, could not fault our tour with her! For it being her first time in a year it came to her so naturally. She was very knowledgeable and interacted with everyone it made the tour so enjoyable. If you ever get the chance to have her as your tour guide you won’t be disappointed ️.

Outstanding! This was a fabulous experience. We did the 4.30pm one hour tour which went through water and travelled along the beach. Outstanding tour guide. Very informative. We did stop for photos on the beach. Saw birdlife and kangaroos. Plenty of parking. No food or drinks and no toilet facilities on the boat. You will have a fantastic time and learn about the local wildlife. Highly recommended.

Must do 1770 tour Hopefully my review has given future travellers a small insight into a must do trip. The length of tour, was just right to fit everything in. My tour was a prize in a local raffle & given my experience I would gladly pay the fee for the total experience of atmosphere , knowledge etc. Whitey’s commentary was so informative & he included local aboriginal knowledge to tell us about the wonder of Eurimbula National Park & it’s inhabitants (both animal & plants). I learnt some amazing facts, especially about green turtles. Johnno gave us great wisdom in his talks too, especially @ the museum tour & was a very careful driver. The museum tour & history of Bustard Head lighthouse is incredible to see & a true credit to the forward thinkers (mainly Stuart Buchanan, the main driving force of this restoration) & team of volunteers who have made this happen, so it is preserved for future generations. Here, I learnt about different light sequences from each lighthouse positioned on the coastline, which I witnessed 1st hand that night while up @ lookout. There are also caretakers on site, who spend 4 weeks here, living as their predecessors have done, who also give an informative & knowledgeable tour of a restored cottage filled with photos & past treasures. I especially loved the whale teeth. What our forebearers lived through & dealt with on a daily basis, is truly humbling to learn about. They also cater for food intolerances too & a long drop toilet is on the island. So much information was shared by amazing people who have a true passion for where they work. A true credit to everyone involved. This is one of my most memorable travel experiences.

The paradise tour on the LARC This was a great experience, from the sand boarding to the great history lessons and the Australian humour. Jono and Whitey were amazing making the drive up the pristine coastline even more entertaining and educational. There was something to do for everyone, sand boarding, and swimming in the crystal clear water and learning about how the Bustard Head lighthouse was made. Stuart’s Buchanan’s books available for purchase, to assist in lighthouse and out buildings preservation are more entertaining with every page. The picnic lunch was incredible from the Billy tea to the delicious wraps and Anzac bickies. Thank You for an amazing trip on the LARC where we made some friends along the way. Incredible, professional yet friendly and suuuper interesting! Today we went on the full day LARC tour to the lighthouse.

This was super excellent!👏 Friendly, kind and incredibly informative, this tour blew us away!
1. Right off the bat, this fun vehicle goes from land to sea and back again . such a fun way to get around.
2. Whity the tour guide is just incredible. He has sooo much knowledge about the area and the critters that are around. He also has the perfect voice, easy to hear over the sound of the LARC.
3. The lighthouse waaay more interesting than I expected. So much history and really cool artifacts too. There was a resident tour guide at the lighthouse that showed us through the house. The Skipper of the LARC showed us through the inside of the lighthouse and other buildings on the property, even showing us the cemetery and the stories behind many of the keepers and their families over the years.
4. A stop for a meal and tea at their private picnic area.
5. A stop for a fun sand dune slide and a swim in clear warm water. What a great way to top off the best day out!!

Definitely one of the best tourism activities in Australia This is an action packed day of adventure from the minute you leave 1770 boat ramp until you arrive at the Lighthouse to visit the Lighthouse and museum venture back to get an amazing lunch and experience local knowledge like you’ve never heard before. Definitely rating this 10 out of 10 one of the best tourism experiences I have come across in Australia after two years of travel.. the staff were amazing. What a great team. The booking process was easy not to be missed.

Larc n lunch up the beach For our point of view the larc experience once again did not disappoint as our driver/skipper/guide/book of knowledge John shared not only his expertise with identifying the bird life of the coastal environment but also is vast historical knowledge of the region and Australia.
I have to admit he blew me away with this adrift as we traversed along the stunning beach landscape to our lunch destination in the shade of a massive tree. Everyone enjoyed this experience. Well done John!!

From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel so welcome especially the young lady checking us in, she was amazing !!! and excited for the adventure ahead. The iconic pink amphibious vehicle is a joy in itself — part bus, part boat — and the entire tour was filled with fascinating stories, stunning scenery, and lots of laughter.

Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the area’s history, wildlife, and unique environment. We loved learning about the town of 1770, exploring the coastline, and seeing local wildlife up close. Driving along the beach and then splashing straight into the water was such a thrill! The trip to the historic Bustard Head Lighthouse was a real highlight — the views from the top were breathtaking and the storytelling along the way made it even more special.
Everything was beautifully organised, relaxed, and full of charm. It’s the perfect blend of fun, education, and adventure for all ages. We left with huge smiles, great photos, and memories we’ll never forget.

Adventure, fun and learning This tour was brilliant and exceeded our expectations. We were impressed by the professionalism of ourTour leaders, Kev and Skipper Mark and their teamwork. We never felt rushed and we learned a lot about the local history and bird, animal and plant life. There was something for everyone no matter what their age and even though we are too old for sand boarding we enjoyed watching the younger ones have a ton of fun. The volunteer guides at the lighthouse were also full of knowledge and very friendly. Finally the lunch and Billy tea was awesome and we topped it off at the end with a visit to a pod of dolphins. We highly recommend this tour which is great value for money. It really did feel like an adventure rather than ‘just a tour’. The LARC itself was also amazing and fun to ride and felt very safe at all times.We spoke to one person who was there for the 4th time so that says it all .

A life experience. This would have to be one of the best experiences I have ever had. I am 58 years of age and travelled nearly everywhere in Australia. This company ticks more boxes than I think I could’ve expected. They thoroughly enjoy their job, they treausure where they live and what it takes to look after any marine and animal life to keep this place as original as possible. A couple of days on from the tour and I’m already re-recording in my own videos what the guides told us about the area 11/10 from me. Thank you very much John and Big Kev for your big hearts, your dedication and respect and appreciation for where you live.

Day to remember in the LARC Spent a day to remember on the LARC to Lighthouse, cemetery. Fantastically led by our host Kev, who was very knowledgeable and funny and even helped me up the sand dunes for a bit of sand boarding. LARC was super fun in the water.
