Eungella Rainforest & Platypus Encounter
Eco-Certified Day Trip into the Land of the Clouds
Come aboard for a day like no other as we leave Airlie Beach at 11.30 AM and head south into the lush Clarke Ranges. Tucked within these misty rainforest-clad mountains lies the spectacular Eungella National Park, part of the EcoTourism Australia–certified trail and one of Queensland’s most iconic natural treasures.
Spanning over 51,700 hectares, Eungella is Australia’s longest stretch of subtropical rainforest and has remained ecologically unique due to its thousands of years of isolation. The name Eungella means “Land of the Clouds” in the local Aboriginal language — and when you arrive, you’ll understand why.
This ancient landscape is also one of the very few places in Australia where you can spot the elusive platypus in the wild. With a bit of luck (and a little patience), you’ll see one of these shy, fascinating creatures in its natural habitat — a moment that’s often the highlight of the day.
A Classic Aussie Lunch in the Clouds
After exploring the rainforest and spotting wildlife, we’ll enjoy a good old-fashioned sausage sizzle, complete with fresh bread, onions, and sauce — just like your local Bunnings snag, but with a view! Enjoy lunch surrounded by the sounds of the forest and the fresh mountain air.
With a relaxed pace, stunning scenery, and a strong focus on conservation, this tour is perfect for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone looking to experience the quieter, greener side of North Queensland.

I would recommend this tour with D.
Our tour guide was very informative and told use a lot about the aboriginals and what the tribes use the waterfalls and what for.
Definitely recommend this trip
This was a total surprise and I am 100% glad I went on this one. Beautiful scenery, stunning beach, learnt about marine turtles and had a delicious burger and milkshake at the Diner. Totally one of the best little places in the Whitsundays .
We visited a coffee plantation, Cedar Creek Falls, had lunch at George’s Diner, and finished with a beer and cocktails at Northerlies Beach Bar.
Thoroughly recommend this tour when you’re next in Airlie Beach.
This service is different to many other waterfall tour providers as with Waterfall Express, you're not confined to a tight time period at waterfall. You choose when you get dropped off and when you get picked up (within reason).
Our driver, Julie, was incredible! great person all round, friendly, had a sense of humour and was happy to provide recommendations for other things around the town.
Highly recommend this service. It was probably the highlight of our trip
