Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Perth

Transfer from Perth Airport to the hotel in Perth City by own arrangements. The rooms are available from 15h. The rest of the day is simply for leisure or for some light exploring of the city on the Swan River on your own. In the evening, meet up with the group for a drink at the hotel bar.

Accommodation: DoubleTree by Hilton Perth, Northbridge

Day 2: Perth – Bunbury (B)

In Shoalwater, we meet our experienced and qualified guide for the day. A kayak tour is a unique and intimate way to explore Penguin Island and Seal Island. Get up close and personal with sea lions, paddle past pelican colonies, and be enchanted by the rugged beauty of the islands. Sometimes we even see dolphins! It’s a fun day out that’s suitable for both beginners and advanced paddlers. After this adventure, we continue our leisurely journey to Bunbury.

Accommodation: Bunbury Hotel Koombana Bay, Bunbury

Day 3: Bunbury – Margaret River (B)

See, hear, and feel wild dolphins today! On today’s tour, you’ll be accompanied by experienced and trained guides as you set out to spot dolphins in the beautiful Koombana Bay. Once dolphins are spotted, you’ll be allowed to get in the water to swim with the wild bottlenose dolphins in their natural environment. Continue to Busselton, where we will visit the longest wooden pier in the southern hemisphere. Afterwards, we will admire the fascinating coastal section of Canal Rocks.

Accommodation: Grande Escape Resort, Margaret River

Day 4: Margaret River – Pemberton (B/L)

Today, we are exploring the Margaret River Wine region, which is one of the most renowned wine areas of Australia, by bicycle. With its Mediterranean climate, outstanding wine, relaxed atmosphere, and excellent surf zones, Margaret River has quickly become a very popular holiday destination. We have the opportunity to enjoy some wine tastings at some of the most renowned vineyards. In the afternoon, we take Cave Road through beautiful forest areas to the southwesternmost point of Australia, Cape Leeuwin. This is where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. The cape is known for its rough westerly winds in the winter months – called the “roaring forties” by the locals. From here, there is no land west of you until Africa and south until Antarctica. Afterwards, we dive from the coast of the Southern Ocean and green pastures into the impressive karri forests of the Pemberton/Walpole region.

Accommodation: Pemberton Hotel, Pemberton

Day 5: Pemberton – Albany (B)

Today, daredevils have the opportunity to challenge their primal instincts and strengthen their confidence in their abilities – climbing, winding, grasping, and flying – deep and high among the majestic karri trees. Continue to Walpole. The Valley of the Giants, a section of forest appropriately named for its huge trees, is our next destination. Tree Top Walk offers an amazing bird’s eye view of this window of the past. Much of the vegetation in this region is unique to the southwest of Western Australia. In the afternoon, we will visit William Bay National Park, home to the bizarre Elephant Rocks and the popular swimming beach, Green Pool. The colours of the ocean and coastline are beyond words and will inspire you. We reach Albany, Western Australia’s first settlement, in the evening.

Accommodation: Quality Apartments Banksia, Albany

Day 6: Albany (B)

Today we will visit Porongurup National Park. Here we will hike up to the fantastic rock formation Castle Rock. The Granite Skywalk offers some breathtaking 360-degree views. A City tour and the magnificent panoramic view from Mt. Clarence overlooking King George Sound, where the first settlers landed in 1826, let you realise Albany’s importance to Western Australia. At the end of the day, we explore Natural Bridge and The Gap in Torndirrup National Park.

Accommodation: Quality Apartments Banksia, Albany

Day 7: Albany – Esperance (B)

The tour continues with a drive through farmland in the Stirling Range. The wide variety of plants originating in the Stirling Range is mainly due to its insular location. This mountain range is a climatic island, and the plain is typical for its dry and warm weather conditions. If time and weather conditions permit, we will have the opportunity for some hiking

towards Bluff Knoll, the highest peak of the Stirling Ranges. In the late afternoon, we will arrive in Esperance.

Accommodation: Hospitality Motel, Esperance

Day 8: Esperance (B)

You will enjoy the scenic Great Ocean Drive with its highlights, Rotary Lookout, Twilight Beach and Pink Lake. We then visit Cape Le Grand National Park, with its scenic turquoise bays and long white beaches. In Lucky Bay, one of the most picturesque beaches in the whole world, we will be going for a walk along this fantastic coastline.
Accommodation: Hospitality Motel, Esperance

Day 9: Esperance – Kalgoorlie (B)

Leaving the gorgeous Southern Ocean behind us today, there is still 400km of sealed road in front of us! At Norseman, the Eyre Highway begins, which crosses the 1,500km-wide Nullarbor Plain towards Adelaide. However, we are heading north and will eventually arrive at the so-called “Golden Mile” in Kalgoorlie-Boulder. Visit to Hannans North Tourist Mine, where we will have the opportunity to try our hand at gold panning, among other things. After a short city tour, the Kalgoorlie Museum offers a wealth of information about the history of Australia’s richest gold-mining site. In the north of the city, we will visit the Two-up shed, where the traditional Australian game of chance is still played occasionally.

Accommodation: The Plaza Hotel, Kalgoorlie

Day 10: Kalgoorlie – Hyden (B)

In the course of the morning, a visit to the mine site “Super Pit” – Australia’s biggest open-cut gold mine – enables us to capture impressions of the unbelievable ratio and dimensions on the Australian continent. By tracing the footsteps of the first gold seekers, we will be reaching Coolgardie and leaving Western Australia’s Golden Mile. From here we will be following the track of the Emu Fence Road in a southerly direction to Hyden.

Accommodation: Wave Rock Motel, Hyden

Day 11: Hyden – Fremantle (B)

After breakfast, we will visit the famous and astounding Wave Rock. There is enough time to explore and learn about the story of this unbelievable natural wonder. Afterwards, we drive through the wide-stretched West Australian wheat belt to reach York at about lunchtime. A quaint short stroll in the oldest inland settlement of W.A. will take you back to the time of the first settlers. The old, well-maintained and renovated houses boasting their original facades bring forth still today the atmosphere of the pioneer’s time. Continue to Mundaring Weir. The dam was built alongside the pipeline, according to the plans and ideas of Charles Yelverton O’Connor, as part of the Goldfields water supply system. It thus brought the precious water to Kalgoorlie. The Goldfields Pipeline is a major engineering achievement. Cross the dam wall on foot and enjoy the fantastic view. In the evening, we arrive at the historic port city of Fremantle.

Accommodation: Hotel Esplanade by Rydges, Fremantle

Day 12: Fremantle – Rottnest Island – Fremantle (B)

Enjoy the crossing to Rottnest Island, which is famous for its crystal-clear waters and pristine beaches. The island awaits you with its raw coastline, limestone cliffs, salt lakes and picturesque coves. The island can be explored particularly well by bike, because the traffic is strictly limited. You will come in contact with a unique flora and fauna, and of course with those Quokkas so well known for this island. In the late afternoon, you say goodbye to this interesting nature reserve. The deluxe ferry will bring you back to the mainland safely and comfortably.

Accommodation: Hotel Esplanade by Rydges, Fremantle

Day 13: Fremantle – Perth (B)

Fremantle is known for its harmonious combination of culture, maritime history and entertainment. The old, well-maintained and renovated houses boasting their original facades bring forth still today the atmosphere of the pioneer’s time. The Captain Cook cruise will then take you on a comfortable and safe trip up the Swan River to Perth City. Enjoy glorious views along the river. Perth, situated on the Swan River, is the sunniest city „Down Under“. We visit Kings Park to take in a magnificent view of the city, Swan River and the Darling Ranges. A tour into downtown Perth shows you the shopping and business areas, as well as St. George‘s Terrace the financial centre, where you can find a contrast of old and new architecture.

Accommodation: DoubleTree by Hilton Perth, Northbridge
