We did the Dunk Island tour. It was amazing. We had a fantastic day. The crew was great, and so were the places we visited. Definitely worth 5 stars.

Did a half day rafting tour on the Tully river with my wife and two boys (16/13). Really fun with great, supportive guides. Top tip: bring leggings if you can to keep the March flys and the sun off. An excellent way to spend a few hours in FNQ.

We have 2 kids (7 and 9) and the whole family had a great time. Our tour guide Leon and everyone else on the Wildside team were great and helped us throughout the day. The gorge is beautiful. Thanks. Highly recommended.

We did a half day tour on the Tully River White Water Rafting . Our first experience rafting and the team were very supportive and made the day so much fun. They are also wonderful with the kids . Highly recommend and would do this trip again if we are up this way . We stayed at the Tully Campground which is where the rafting also starts and was a great couple of days.

Absolutely awesome! Our day Sports Rafting with wildside adventures was fantastic. Our guides Jay and Leon were skilled, professional, fun and great with kids. The river and rain forest were beautiful and the rapids, although mainly grade 2 on the day we went (it depends on the river on the day), still gave us an exciting ride. We had a 7, 10 and 12 year old and they thought it was amazing!! It was my 12 year olds birthday and they ran the tour with just 5 of us which was so kind and brought him a cake. Thanks so much!!! I highly recommend this activity to others 😁

Fabulous to "Get Dunked" We thoroughly enjoyed the snorkelling experience around River Dunk Island, Mission Beach. Allan and his crew were very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the area's history which provided us with a great introduction to the area. Loads of fun and great adventure. Was fabulous from the start - booked with Al, very helpful and relaxed. Had a fabulous time out on the water with John and Leon - both very knowledge and encouraging- also felt like we were in good hands should anything go wrong! We were a group of 8 ranging from 11 to 65 - suited all of our ages and abilities - John was wonderful at making everyone feel relaxed and comfortable on the water .

My family and I did two tours with Wildside Adventures, and enjoyed both a lot! The first one was snorkeling around dunk and two other locations, and visited a cave. Small group (5 people) with Beers and snacks included. It was so fun and we definitely recommend Alan and John for the trip. The second was white water rafting and it was so fun to paddle around rocks, again with John. The whole team were professional and very friendly. The scenery was breathtaking but the whole trip was packed with excitment and fun. It was a really fun experience, and if you are up here in Queensland I highly recommend doing both for a real Australian adventure.

Positive Rafting experience I must thank John our guide and the Team at Wildside Adventures for my recent Tully River experience. My best day on my holiday for an activity.I was lucky with the odd numbers of the group to go solo in the two person raft. John said it was a lot more fun and I totally agree with him now. I liked navigating through the rapids as it was an adrenaline buzz for each rapid conquest and sticking to the same process that we were told to follow. I liked the prestart safety instructions and we had to capsize the raft and to get ourselves back into our vessel. It gave each other a lot of confidence. My friends and I did a snorkelling trip in mission beach. We had the best time on the boat and travelling around to the different islands. Allen and Leah were so friendly and made the experience so enjoyable, definitely recommend and we will be back!!

Amazingly fun day! Felt like a choose-your-own-adventure over the rapids with the two-person kayaks. Both Leon and Stefan are great guides and Al was very responsive for the admin side of things. 10/10 would recommend.

Wicked rafting experience Had a awesome half day on the river, Leon and the crew made if fun as well as what to do incase we had a spill made it super exciting, my son and I didn't flip but my friends we're not so lucky, was very funny, highly recommend.

Me and my 15yr old son did the half day rafting today and ended up wishing we'd done the full day as had a great time from the moment we were picked up to the moment we were dropped off back at our accommodation. All staff were super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. A must if your in the area. Thanks again guys.

Great day on the water! We went for the half-day sports rafting tour and the rapids and thrills were wild! The guides are very experienced at teaching you how to steer the raft and what to do when things don't go to plan, and briefing you before each rapid to give you a plan of attack. We had one guide lead ahead and one follow behind to help us out if we needed it. Just challenging enough for a thrill while still feeling safe and supported - we had a few fall-ins and got stuck in a hole but got out of it unscathed thanks to our guides, so it was all part of the experience! Thanks again for a great day on the water! A definite must-do if you love adventure!

The crew at Wildside Adventures were really friendly, and easy to communicate with. We were picked up from our accommodation in the morning and headed to the rafting site. Our rafting guides were amazing, giving clear instructions on how to tackle each obstacle, providing great stories and laughs along the way. The rapids were thrilling! It’s such a great challenge. A few of us fell in, but the training we received meant we were able to get back into our raft in choppy waters with no problem. The scenery was spectacular. I’d highly recommend giving this trip a go!

March Fly madness!! Very experience, Tourguide and a lot of fun down the river, but at this time of the year we did get eaten alive by March flies – not worth it for the five days of scratching bites afterwards. Only attempt this if you have a full body gimp suit at this time of the year, unless you like swatting the whole time and then scratching

Great fun and adventure We did the half day trip and it was amazing! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Expect to end up in the water at some point so wear clothing you don’t mind getting wet.

Awesome experience in that beautiful river. Some of the rapids were challenging for us, and the staff was kind, encouraging, and helpful. Note the website says kids above 12, but it is actually above 6.
The brief at the beginning could be a bit shorter to help focus on the most important things (maybe a piece of it directly in the water if you can).

Awesome half day We were two 72 year olds with good health and fair fitness. With great instruction we embarked on an awesome experience. Exhausted but still smiling even though we did fall out at one stage. But with the help from the instructor we were off and running again. Great experience

Great Rapids Adventures for Family If you're looking for an exciting adventure for family with young kids in Cairns, I highly recommend Wildside Adventures. My experience with this company was truly great, and it was all thanks to our amazing coach team, John and Ashley, as well as the manager Allan, who had taken great effort and made arrangement for our family to make it happened.

John and Ashley made us feel welcome and excited for the day ahead. They were experienced, friendly As we have young kids coming with us, they always put safety first. They made sure we were properly equipped with gear and gave us a thorough safety briefing before we hit the rapids.

John and Ashley were excellent at navigating the raft and keeping us safe, while also making sure we had a blast. Throughout the trip, they shared interesting facts about the surrounding landscape and wildlife, making the experience even more enjoyable and educational for kids.

Overall, I would highly recommend Sports Rafting to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure in Cairns. And if you're lucky enough to have John and Ashley as your coach, you're in for a real treat! They truly made our day one we'll never forget.

An Unforgettable Outdoor Experience With Wildside Adventures!!! We had such a great day on the Tully Gorge with Wildside!

If you’re looking for a safe and exciting adventure that puts you in the heart of nature, look no further. Ashlea and John were very thorough when it came to the safety briefing, before heading down the Tully Gorge.

Through a series of 16 different rapids (each one different from the next), the birds and butterflies followed us down the river the whole way, while we took in all the sights, smells and sounds. This tour will spark your adrenaline and tickles all the senses and should not be missed if you’re in the Mission Beach and surrounding area.

Very reasonably priced, with friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff has us giving this trip all the stars it deserves. A big thanks to Allen for setting this up and making us feel like family the whole way through.

Fantastic Tour We had a fantastic half day out on this tour! It was our first time doing anything like this but the guides were very helpful! The views were incredible, a very fun experience and the guides were exceptional! Would highly recommend to everyone

A salient lesson We booked for this with our two grandsons aged 9 and 11, we are in our sixties, and none of us had any experience. Our leader Leon was great, as were the two other guides Tash and Ash. The other people who were on the trip were clearly more experienced. Would i do it again? Absolutely not. For us oldies the trip was beyond us, we had neither the skill or technique required to advance through quite turbulent water (grade 2/3) of the rapids, fortunately we had already made the decision to ask the instructors to take one grandson each, which was a wise decision. We made it through the first quite gentle rapid, but at the next one the ‘Washing Machine’ we came off almost immediately and then were pulled pushed and shoved for a long time being bounced of rocks, pulled into eddies, the flow was so fast we could get into the recovery position, eventually we were rescued, but I was pooped, cut bruised and with a swollen knee and ankle. One of my grandson’s and his instructor also came out of the boat on the same rapid, but he was quickly rescued by her.
At that point we wanted to stop, but .You can’t get off!
So we managed to get to the end, me squeezed in the middle of the instructor and my younger 9 year old grandson. At the end it was clear that everyone else had a great time, and I stress we were looked after, but there is a moral here, please don’t do this if you haven’t done this before and are older adults, more importantly do not have young children in your boat if you are inexperienced or a greenhorn! Always put them with a instructor. If they had been in our boats, neither my husband and I could have rescued my grandchildren we couldn’t save ourselves. Moreover both grandsons were scared we were going to die and this frightened them. Can’t fault Leon, Tash and Ash for looking after us once we were rescued, and the other group who were experienced has a fab time. But we learnt a valuable lesson, and I dread to think what might have happened had we had one grandson each in our two man boat.

Booked a a rafting tour for 4 hours from 12pm to 16pm. When we arrived at 12pm, nobody was there. Waited 1 hour till the previous group with the guides arrived. Then we waited another 1/2 hour till they have eaten lunch. Effective time rafting (which was actually kayaking as the water was not very wild) was 1 hour. Paid 129$ per person. Far too expensive for this 1 hour!! Was not offered a refund. Guides were nice.

Fun but difficult I took the inflatable kayak trip down the river in November. Unfortunately the water levels were low. We did spend a lot of time pushing the kayaks off the river rocks. But I did enjoy the trip. It was fun being out on the River and rolling down the rapids. The water is very warm so it’s not intimidating to get wet or step out of the kayak to cool off. The trip was a good physical workout so this activity is not for the fickle. It’s a solid upper body workout that leaves you breathless at times especially when your kayak gets lodged between two rocks in a set of rapids. So if you have a bad back or sore knees, don’t try this. The rapids are scary to look at but really are not that difficult to run. Just point the boat into the main channel and paddle hard. It is surprisingly easy and fun if you hit the fast water head on. Overall I loved the excursion. It was a good workout and definitely an adrenaline rush.

Really fun activity. The crew gave everyone their own kayaks so we wouldn’t drag all day on the rocks given the lower flow, so nice to see they were thinking of us. Ran rapids independently, was sweet. Kayaks good, staff nice (Rhett and John, John’s a classic Aussie character). Free beer at the end!

The best tour!!! Did the half day rafting with John, Rhett and Ash. Water was a bit low towards the end of dry season but the whole morning was still a blast! Enjoyed a leisurely paddle in-between the thrill of the rapids. The staff were super knowledgeable of the river and made you feel safe the entire time. Makes you feel like you are out with friends enjoying the beautiful Tully and not some commercialized trip. Will recommend!!!

So... I was only doing this because my Husband Russ really wanted too. I was absolutely petrified to be honest. There was definitely no need to be in the end. I had the best time. Loved it and felt very safe.. Our very experienced guides John, Ret and team were so informative and gave us a few laughs along the way. They keeped checking to see if we were ok. Unfortunately we have no pics, we need to move with the times and get a go pro ????. All in all l can't wait to do this again, hopefully next year when we're back up this way. Thanks again John ????

Tully wild side rafting Lots of fun and just enough of a challenge to feel the joy of accomplishment- ie not flipping Al is enthusiastic and keeps everyone safe and happy. My boys in their late teens and me over 50 loved the trip. Good value for three hours of action.

I took my 9 year old and 11year old. I totally recommend it for adults but I would never recommend it for children under 12. My 11 year old went into the water when the raft flipped and although he is a good swimmer he was very scared in the water and went under a few times. If my 9 year old had fallen in he would have really struggled to keep his head above the water.
It was great to have your own raft but if you don't have a lot of experience it was hard to control especially with kids who don’t have the strength to do a lot of paddling

Great afternoon on the Tully River Terrific rafting trip, safe, fun and informative. I’m perhaps not as good as I thought I would be, but the water was warm and it was actually a fun challenge climbing back into the kayak in the rapids

Tully River Rafting We went on a white water rafting trip with John and Dan yesterday. Being only a four people group we got very good and detailed insructions by John in the beginning. WildSide exciting family adventure Incredible fun day out. The guides were amazing. Loads of safety info, delivered in an engaging and fun way (Thanks John). Kept up the confidence however made you understand.
On to the river for some practice paddling and practice flip and climb back in. The guides were so generous and encouraging.
Now the paddling fun really began, like the novices we all were, everyone entered the first rapid too quickly and we had a "rapid jam of boats". The guides were so patient and encouraging and got us all untangled and on our way .. for us to do it again on the next rapid!! Team WildSide you have the patience of a saint!!!! Thankyou!!
Finally we all had ourselves sorted to not all rush in at once and the rapids flowed!!
As a family with teens this was an amazing day out. The teenagers bounced down the rapids, as the mum I kind of kept getting caught, missteering or generally going in the wrong spot. The guides were incredible, kept me calm, rescued my lodged boat and were so incredibly encouraging!! As a family we all had an amazing day from an adreniline rush and pushing boundaries to relaxing with floating between rapids and admiring the incredible scenery.

If you are thinking of a fun family day out, that will push the boundaries and engage the teens then I highly recommend this outing. Be brave and go!!

John and Ben were great guides for our half day white water rafting. We went as a couple but had solo rafts/kayaks. It was an arm workout but more fun by ourselves. The scenery is stunning and I had a real sense of achievement at the end of the day. Thanks guys! Would definitely so it again.
Tips: wear reef shoes or shoes you can get wet and stay on. The guys can provide some if not. A cap is handy too. You have to think about how you're going down the rapids so don't be too hungover! Make sure you have enough sun protection on, I burnt my legs.
