Join us for an intimate picnic beneath the open hinterland sky at Elysian Hills. 


As twilight fades across the hills, settle into deck chairs or stretch out on picnic blankets and enjoy a relaxed evening in one of the Tweed’s most elevated coastal viewpoints. Guests will be provided with picnic mats, pillows and blankets to ensure a comfortable and relaxed evening under the sky.

Each guest will enjoy a curated picnic selection and one drink on arrival. Enjoy either a wine, beer or a non-alcoholic option, followed by a hot beverage as the evening unfolds. 

As darkness settles, our team will guide you through the night sky. Using a staff-operated telescope, guests are personally guided through visible planets, star clusters and seasonal constellations. Rather than navigating equipment themselves, guests are gently led through each viewing for a seamless and enjoyable experience. 


We recommend downloading the SkyView® app (available on iOS and Android) before arrival. Simply point your phone toward the sky and it will identify stars, constellations and planets exactly as they appear above you. 

With minimal surrounding light and sweeping coastal elevation, Elysian Hills offers a beautiful vantage point for observing the southern hemisphere sky. 

Stargazing is weather dependent. In the event of significant cloud cover that limits visibility, the evening will still proceed as a picnic experience and if you would like to return for clearer skies, we will provide you with a $35 return voucher to use toward a future Picnics Under the Night Sky booking.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

All-weather event This is an all-weather experience. The picnics can be hosted under the pavilion, so the event will proceed in rain or wet conditions. Clear skies and telescope viewing cannot be guaranteed, and the program may be adjusted based on conditions. Sky visibility Sky visibility is weather-dependent and clear skies and telescope viewing cannot be guaranteed. If cloud or rain limits outdoor viewing, the experience will run in an adjusted format. Cloudy or rainy conditions are not grounds for refunds. Safety & severe weather For safety reasons, we may modify, pause or adjust outdoor components if conditions are unsafe (e.g. electrical storms, extreme winds). If the event must be cancelled entirely due to unsafe conditions, ticket holders will be offered a transfer to a new date or a refund of the ticket price (excluding any third-party booking fees, if applicable). Event changes & rescheduling While this is an all-weather experience, we reserve the right to reschedule the event to an alternative date if circumstances outside our control arise, including (but not limited to) safety considerations, supplier availability, equipment issues, or unforeseen operational requirements. If the event is rescheduled by us, ticket holders will be offered the option to: transfer their ticket to the new date, or receive a refund of the ticket price (excluding any third-party booking fees, if applicable). Refunds & Cancellations (Guest-Initiated) Tickets are eligible for a 50% refund if cancelled on or 7 days before the scheduled event. Cancellations made after 7 days before the event are non-refundable. Failure to attend the event, late arrival, or a change of mind does not qualify for a refund. Ticket transfers Tickets may be transferred to another guest if you’re unable to attend. Please notify us in advance with the new attendee’s name. Arrival & punctuality Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Late arrivals may miss key components of the experience, and extensions cannot be guaranteed. Conditions of entry This experience is delivered in a low-light, outdoor environment. Guests should wear closed-toe footwear and bring warm layers. Ground conditions may be uneven or damp. Children Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Photography & marketing Photography and short video footage may be captured during the experience for marketing purposes. If you prefer not to be photographed, please advise staff on arrival. Liability Attendance is at your own risk. We are not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings.
