Cape Gloucester Escape – Coastal Bars, Beaches & Whitsunday Views
Duration:
Operated By:
Escape the crowds and discover one of the Whitsundays’ best hidden coastal regions on this relaxed full-day small-group experience from Airlie Beach.
The Cape Gloucester Escape is all about beachside pubs, tropical scenery, relaxed coastal vibes, and enjoying the journey through some of the Whitsundays’ most beautiful mainland locations. Designed as a progressive lunch-style experience, guests can enjoy food, cocktails, cold drinks, coffee, or snacks throughout the day at a selection of iconic waterfront venues.
Travel north through the Whitsunday countryside in a modern air-conditioned touring vehicle as your local guide shares stories about the region, local history, wildlife, and coastal life away from the busy tourist areas.
Your first stop is the famous Dingo Beach Hotel, a true Aussie beach pub known for its laid-back atmosphere, cold drinks, and classic pub meals. Just across the road, enjoy free time at Dingo Beach, where the stinger net enclosure makes it one of the safest and most relaxing mainland swimming spots in the Whitsundays.
Continue to the stunning Montes Reef Resort at Cape Gloucester, widely regarded as one of the most scenic beachfront bars and restaurants in the Whitsundays. Relax with a drink or meal right on the golden sands overlooking the breathtaking Gloucester Passage and surrounding islands.
The final stop is Cape Gloucester Resort, where guests can unwind beside the resort pool, soak in the tropical atmosphere, or enjoy another drink while taking in the spectacular waterfront views.
Unlike structured sightseeing tours, the Cape Gloucester Escape is designed to feel like a relaxed day out with friends — combining beautiful beaches, iconic local venues, swimming opportunities, coastal scenery, and authentic Whitsunday hospitality.

So worth the very early alarm call .
It’s was amazing to see the kangaroos and wallabies on the beach at sunrise.
There is a warden on the beach who lays out treats for the kangaroos .
You can get quite close .
Once the sun rises you also can see the beauty of the Park and beach area .
When we arrived there was not many people , a little later on quite a few more people arrived .
We were collected from our hotel at 2.24am, it’s was approx 2 hrs to get there , on the way back we stopped in an ‘ ‘American Diner ‘ for bacon and egg burgers , they were gorgeous.
Back at our hotel just after 9am
Our driver was Cara , she was lovely and chatty and was giving us information about the area .
It was a small group of 6 , just right .
All the best in the future.
Regards John and Susi from Perth WA
I would recommend this tour with D.
Our tour guide was very informative and told use a lot about the aboriginals and what the tribes use the waterfalls and what for.
Definitely recommend this trip
This was a total surprise and I am 100% glad I went on this one. Beautiful scenery, stunning beach, learnt about marine turtles and had a delicious burger and milkshake at the Diner. Totally one of the best little places in the Whitsundays .
We visited a coffee plantation, Cedar Creek Falls, had lunch at George’s Diner, and finished with a beer and cocktails at Northerlies Beach Bar.
Thoroughly recommend this tour when you’re next in Airlie Beach.
This service is different to many other waterfall tour providers as with Waterfall Express, you're not confined to a tight time period at waterfall. You choose when you get dropped off and when you get picked up (within reason).
Our driver, Julie, was incredible! great person all round, friendly, had a sense of humour and was happy to provide recommendations for other things around the town.
Highly recommend this service. It was probably the highlight of our trip
