Get ready for a thrilling adventure in Horseshoe Bay! Take control of your own jet ski and explore Australia’s largest supervised jet ski hire area, with our trained team keeping watch. Whether you’re staying on Magnetic Island or day-tripping from Townsville, it’s the perfect way to experience the island’s stunning coastline. Freedom, fun, and plenty of room to explore all rolled into one unforgettable experience.
Every hire adventure kicks off on land with a quick briefing. You’ll provide your details, sign the hire contract, and get the lowdown on our hire area and the rules for commercial jet skis. Then it’s time to hit the water. Once afloat, our trained team will show you the basics, run through the safety gear, and provide a quick demonstration before setting you free to explore our 2 km² hire area.
Our skis are commercially registered and there are specific laws that apply while hiring. All commercial jet skis in Australia are governed to 30 knots, fast enough for plenty of excitement while remaining easy to control around Horseshoe Bay. Riders must stay at least 200 metres from beaches, rocks, vessels, and other water users. Safety is always our top priority, so you can focus on enjoying the ride and making the most of your time on the water.
Jet Ski Requirements (Please Read Before Booking):
Age:
- The minimum age to be a passenger with a parent/guardian (18+) is 6 years.
- 16 and 17-year-olds can ride alone with proof of age (school ID, licence, or passport). They cannot ride with another underage passenger. A guardian must be present to complete the rental agreement (including ID and Visa/Mastercard).
Weight:
- Maximum weight for a single rider: 120kg.
- Maximum combined weight of 2 people: 160kg.
- These limits are subject to approval based on conditions and insurance requirements.
English Proficiency:
- A thorough understanding of English is required. You must be able to understand the briefing and contract. If we cannot easily have a conversation with you in English, you will not be allowed to ride and will not be refunded.
Swimming Ability:
- You must be a competent and confident swimmer. Booking confirms this, and refunds will not be provided if you fail to meet this requirement.
Medical Conditions:
- Booking confirms you have no pre-existing medical conditions affecting your hire, are not pregnant, and will not be intoxicated (0 alcohol reading required). Refunds are not available for failing to meet these conditions.
Failing to acknowledge these restrictions makes the booking ineligible for a refund.
What to Expect with Our Hires:
Every hire experience begins with a land briefing. Here, you’ll provide your details, sign our contract, and receive a comprehensive overview of our area and the commercial laws governing our skis. Once that’s complete, we head down to the water. We’ll fit you with life jackets, and if you’ve rented a GoPro, we’ll show you how to use it effectively. In the water, we’ll cover the basics of riding and go over the gears. After a quick demonstration, you’re ready to explore our 2km² hire area.

Professionally run tour, comprehensive safety briefing followed by a great couple of hours one the water. Slow speed sightseeing and fast and fun transits in between.
The photos they took were next-level. Not only were they amazing quality, but there were so many of them.
If you’re heading to Maggie and want something fun, unique, and run by people who genuinely care about giving you a great experience, this is the one to book. Couldn’t recommend them more.
All operating and safety aspects were explained clearly .
We were encouraged to have fun and enjoy ourselves which we did!!
Looking forward to doing a tour around the island in the near future.
Thanks heaps 👍🏻
Josh was our guide and he was the standout. He was calm, friendly, and super clear with instructions, which made everyone feel confident on the skis. The tour itself was the perfect mix: some fun, fast riding when it suited, balanced with slower sightseeing as we cruised around the island. We also stopped at a number of the bays, and Josh pointed out local features along the way, which made it feel like more than just a ride — it was a proper experience.
Well run, great atmosphere, and a brilliant way to see Magnetic Island. We’d absolutely do it again and highly recommend it to families and anyone wanting a safe, fun adventure.
