A Winter’s Taste of Bendigo: A Foodie Tour to Warm the Soul
Step into winter and discover Bendigo’s vibrant food culture with A Winter’s Taste of Bendigo Foodie Tour. As Australia’s first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, Bendigo shines in the cooler months, with grand European-inspired streetscapes, rich, comforting flavours, and welcoming venues that make this tour a true celebration of the season.
This is more than a stroll through picturesque avenues; it’s your invitation to a delicious journey crafted for food lovers. From the moment you meet at the Big Bendigo sign, the experience is all about warmth, stories, and taste.
Think spiced mulled wine swirling with cinnamon and citrus, bowls of hearty soup, hot buttered rum, robust local stout, and a selection of delicious winter treats. This tour is your perfect excuse to explore the best of Bendigo’s seasonal fare, with each venue offering a unique taste and story.
Along the way, your local guide will share Bendigo’s fascinating tales and point out the stunning architecture that gives the city its European charm—but the real stars are the flavours at every stop.
Begin your afternoon at Bendigo Piazza before a short stroll to the grand Wine Bank on View. Here, you’ll be welcomed with a steaming glass of mulled wine and a bowl of soul-warming soup—the perfect winter kick-off.
Next, visit the acclaimed Alium Dining for a winter cocktail bursting with local flavors, paired with Chef Jay’s seasonal canapés that showcase Bendigo’s creative culinary flair.
Stroll along Pall Mall to the Dispensary Bar & Diner, tucked away in the vibrant Chancery Lane. Here, indulge in a cup of hot buttered rum and a mouthwatering braised beef canapé—the ultimate winter comfort food in a cozy, welcoming setting.
Your final stop is Bendigo Brewing, where you’ll enjoy a soul-nourishing schooner of local stout or a glass of one of the region’s finest winter reds. The brewery’s lively atmosphere is the perfect way to toast a day of discovery.
Running for seven weeks from July 18th, this intimate foodie tour is your chance to catch up with friends in style or simply treat yourself to Bendigo’s best winter tastes. With limited numbers, you’ll enjoy a welcoming atmosphere and attentive hospitality at every stop.
Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, and free pick-up from Bendigo Train Station makes it easy to join the fun. Secure your spot and make this winter unforgettable, one delicious bite at a time.

Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys a variety of food and wine.. Great for locals to do and also a great tour to do if you are visiting Bendigo. A perfect way to sample some of our amazing restaurants we offer in Bendigo.
Jamie as the host was great..
Wear good shoes as we covered about 4 kms seeing the sites where bad things happened in the past.
Much recommended for an entertaining night which finished nicely with an ale in an old pub’s cellar.
We had a fabulous day with good food, wine, beer and venues that are a must in Bendigo. Caught the train from Melbourne for the tour returning back to Melbourne early evening. A fabulous day and some stories of Bendigo to go with it.
Thanks Jamie. Highly recommend this experience.
I'm already planning my next tour with Bendigo Guided Tours, as loved it that much. Thanks Jamie for a great afternoon..
My wife and I were fortunate to be able to join Jamie from Bendigo Guided Tours on a very informative tour of the Chinese mines and precinct.
We firstly went to see some mines just off a road I have travelled a thousand times before and I didn’t know that these mines existed.
We also went to the Joss house and Chinese Gardens that I have never been in to.
A lovely morning tea at Omari and also a visit to the Chinese Museum.
If anyone is wanting a tour, I would recommend Bendigo Guided Tours.
Jamie also does food orientated tours. A brunch tour might be our next one.
