Narooma & Montague Island Photography Workshop

7 Days of Spectacular Landscapes & Incredible Wildlife

Join us on an unforgettable seven-day photographic adventure to one of Australia’s most breathtaking coastal destinations. From dramatic headlands and pristine beaches to intimate wildlife encounters, this workshop is designed for photographers who want to immerse themselves in nature while expanding their creative skills.

The highlight of our journey is three unforgettable nights on Montague Island, located just 9 kilometres off the coast of Narooma. With exclusive access after the day visitors have departed, you’ll experience the island at its most magical—golden sunrises, glowing sunsets, star-filled skies, and incredible opportunities to photograph its unique wildlife in beautiful natural light.

Throughout the workshop we’ll explore the spectacular landscapes of the South Coast, capturing rugged coastlines, ancient rock formations, crystal-clear waters and the ever-changing moods of the ocean. Montague Island is also a haven for wildlife photographers, offering exceptional opportunities to photograph colonies of Little Penguins, Australian and New Zealand Fur Seals, and a variety of seabirds. During migration season, we’ll also be on the lookout for whales and the many migratory birds that visit this remarkable marine sanctuary.

Whether you’re passionate about landscapes, wildlife or simply want to take your photography to the next level, you’ll receive personalised guidance throughout the workshop. We’ll cover composition, working with natural light, camera settings, storytelling, and techniques for creating powerful images in both landscape and wildlife photography.

This is far more than a photography workshop—it’s an opportunity to disconnect from the everyday, connect with nature, and photograph one of Australia’s most extraordinary island environments alongside a small group of like-minded photographers.

PROGRAM

A TYPICAL DAY

We rise with the sun (or maybe before!) to capture the gentle morning light and the sunrise over the sea.  After a few hours of shooting we will return to our classroom for morning tea.

Your daily theory sessions follow, with a delicious lunch break provided by Len.  In the afternoon you will have time to relax, process images, chat to others in the group or simply enjoy the salty air and sound of the sea.

The second shoot of the day begins in late-afternoon and continues until dusk.  This is an opportunity to practice the theory and techniques covered during the day in the ever-changing evening light.  After dark it’s your time to use as you choose: rest, reflect, dine and delight in lovely Narooma.

WALKING AND WEATHER

This is a gentle trip, which requires a low level of fitness.  There will be a small amount of walking to and from shooting locations, occasionally on uneven surfaces with steps and inclines.  If you have any doubts about your ability, please contact Len directly.  He is a qualified wilderness guide and will assess your fitness and mobility and find a solution for you.
