Grapes for Good – E-Cycling Safari and Wine Experience

Join Bike About for an all-inclusive three-day escorted e-cycling safari through Adelaide Hills where you will see nature at its best, then onto the amazing Langhorne Creek wine region along the Grapes for Good trail where you will sample some of the best local produce. Your experience will then take you to the plains of Monarto Safari Park and to wine and dine on some of South Australia’s best drops – all while supporting the conservation of animals in the wild.

Day 1

We pick you up from your accommodation & from there we will transport you to Birdwood, where your adventure begins! Hop on your Electric bike and set off along the Amy Gillett Bikeway, a sealed, gently rolling trail winding through the rolling hills, vineyards, and paddocks of the Adelaide Hills. Ride past historic stone cottages, roadside cellar doors, and some of the prettiest countryside SA has to offer, with plenty of stops along the way to soak it all in.

Stop for lunch at a local café, where you can refuel with a bite to eat and a well-earned coffee before continuing on. From there we roll on toward Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement, arriving in the early afternoon. At Hahndorf you’ll have time to explore the region’s famous main street at your own pace — bakeries, galleries, pubs and all — before we return you to your accommodation.

Distance/Difficulty: 30km – Easy riding.

Inclusions:

  • Transfers from Adelaide
  • Accommodation at Reisen Hotel – Hahndorf
  • E-Bike hire
  • Morning Tea
  • Lunch on Amy Gillett Bikeway

Not included:

  • Meals/beverages

Day 2

Your friendly Bike About guide will pick you up and transport you to the beautiful Langhorne Creek wine region. Winding your way through the vineyards on electric bikes, you will visit wineries on the Grapes for Good trail, a conservation initiative of Monarto Safari Park and six wineries, including Bremerton Wines, Kimbolton, Vineyard Road, The Wine House and Bleasdale Winery. After taking in the fresh air and stunning views, and of course a taste or two of the local drop at each stop, you will follow the Bremer River to Lake Breeze. Once you’ve arrived you will be treated to a tasty picnic and bottle of sparkling Blanc de Blanc (with the option to swap to a red or white wine if that tickles your fancy!). Each of the Grapes for Good wineries features a wine that supports an animal at Monarto Safari Park. Part proceeds from the sale of these wines supports Zoos SA’s conservation work to help save vulnerable species from extinction in the wild. Why not collect all six along the trail? Grapes for Good is proof that wine can be a force for good. Every drop can go a little further and make a real difference. At the end of the day, you will be then transferred back to the Manna.

*Please note in winter or during inclement weather, the picnic will be replaced with a three-course restaurant meal including a full wine tasting prior to lunch.

Distance/Difficulty: 15km, easy flat riding

Inclusions:

  • Lunch at Lake Breeze + Bottle of Wine
  • All tastings
  • Accommodation at The Reisen – Hahndorf
