Oyster Farm Tour-
Visit an operating oyster farm at Mooney Mooney, take a boat ride to the oyster leases on the Hawkesbury River, and taste a dozen fresh Broken Bay Oysters per person (1.5 hours).
Immerse Yourself Tour-
Are you ready for an experience of a lifetime…
Following a boat tour out to the oyster farm leases, participants will slide into waders and disembark at our newest oyster lease where you will be met by more farmers who will guide you to your in-water table. Get ready to taste freshly opened oysters from the very waters you are standing in.
Each booking will have their own table, get your cameras ready!
In the event of rain, fresh live oysters will be harvested from a nearby unaffected estuary.

The ocean to plate experience (Oyster Farm Tour with a Seafood lunch on a secluded beach)
The Oyster Elegance Tour will take participants on a boat ride out to the oyster leases to an operating oyster farm. Learn about the evolution of farming and see the current cultivation methods we use to bring you the beautiful Sydney Rock and Pacific Oysters you love. Your guide will then open fresh oysters with you. Following the oyster farm tour participants will be taken to a secluded beach with a breathtaking view where they will enjoy a white tablecloth experience with fresh seafood and lunch from the Estuary Restaurant (3-5 hours).
We welcome BYO alcohol on all tours.
Tours dependent on minimum numbers, if the river is closed for harvest oysters will be sourced from another estuary.
Travellers need to be independently mobile to access and disembark the boat and tour sites.

The tour started slowly as we were taken to different parts of the oyster farm with a bit of story-telling from our guide. But the experience of shucking oysters while knee deep in the rising tide was well worth the wait. There was a generous amount of oysters and prawns per person, and a glass of champagne to with all that. The kids also had fun feeding the prawn shells to the hungry fish circling us.

Wonderful travel experience in Sydney The Sydney Oyster Tours was our first attraction after arriving in Sydney airport. Unfortunately we missed the highway sign and have to be late for 30 minutes. It was really a big turning point when our tour guide, Bob, who was very flexible to let us meet to another terminal nearby, and finally we can get on the boat and to experience a really wonderful tour, and of course tasting the oysters in the lake surrounded by sound of birds and lake view! What an incredible experience from start to finish! We had to reschedule our Immerse Yourself Experience at the last minute, but Chie was absolutely wonderful - so accommodating and completely seamless with the arrangements.
The tour itself was top-tier. Our tour guide Chris was a wealth of knowledge, packing the day with fascinating facts about the Hawkesbury River, and together with Bob, they made the entire experience both highly educational and great fun.

I had an amazing experience with Sydney Oyster Farm Tours during my visit on 23 May 2026. The tour was a perfect mix of relaxation, education, and incredible seafood. We were lucky with a beautiful sunny day, and the tour and talk were really interesting, especially learning about the oyster life cycle. The shucking location was stunning, and the included champagne was a lovely touch. The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, 18 each felt very generous, and the vinaigrette was amazing. BYO was also a bonus.
A couple of downsides: no gloves are provided for shucking (one guest cut her hand), so just be careful. The biggest issue was the prawns, they arrived very late, we had to ask multiple times, and staff didn’t seem to know what was going on. It also seems to be a recurring issue based on other reviews which indicates organisers aren’t receptive to customer feedback.
Overall, a really enjoyable day with fantastic oysters, just let down slightly by organisation.

Our group of friends had an amazing time. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, nothing was a problem. Such a unique experience and a fun way to spend a few hours. Would recommend taking a fishing glove or the like if you struggle opening oysters, staff though will have you shucking in no time.

This was such an awesome experience! I couldn’t recommend it enough. From going on the boat, getting a tour of the farm with a really knowledgeable host to of course one of the most unique dining experiences you could have! We did the Immerse Yourself experience and the oysters were absolutely some of the best I have EVER had, accompanied with great prawns as well. A wonderful way to spend the afternoon shucking away. Everyone was so helpful and friendly too. 10/10 would recommend!

I am visiting from the US and I booked the oyster tour with the in-water dining. Everyone was extremely kind, friendly, very knowledgeable, and made sure I had a great experience. The area is super beautiful and definitely worth the trek from Sydney. Pro-tip to anyone coming from Sydney via train, there were no ubers from the Hawkesbury River train station to the Kangaroo Wharf pickup point. I would recommend either driving or trying to arrange a ride ahead of time. We ended up getting a ride from a very kind local - Shoutout to Lucinda from Brooklyn's Corner. You saved my day!

Really enjoyed our tour! It was great to hear a little bit of history about oyster farming and the overall oyster lifecycle - was v interesting. The highlight was obviously the oysters and prawns themselves which was such a fun and a great experience! Who knew oyster shucking was actually pretty easy! Plus the oysters and prawns were oh so fresh!
The only letdown was around timings - our tour ended up starting 35 mins late due to the late arrival of two people. I get that people run late / traffic and that you are trying to accomodate everyone however when 95% of the group are on time and are then forced to sit in the sun on an over 30degrees weather day, it’s not ideal….

The perfect day for the end of vacay! The Sydney Oyster Tours was one of our last and best days we had while visiting Australia. Bob, who was our tour guide was the best! He was extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun on the boat. As one of the only people on the tour that wasn’t really a fan of oysters I was really just going to go for the experience, but I ended up really enjoying them. I booked this experience for my wife’s birthday and was really disappointed with how it turned out. The morning of the tour was gloomy and windy, so I called to see if we could move our booking to a nicer day but was told we’d lose our $420 since it was non-refundable. We decided to go anyway — unfortunately, that was a mistake.
Once on the boat, the driver went full speed across choppy water, and waves splashed over everyone. We were completely drenched before we even arrived, and the instructor didn’t seem to notice or care. The website says you might get a bit wet, but everyone on board was soaked through, shivering, and uncomfortable.
When we finally reached the oyster area, we were given about 30 seconds of instruction on how to shuck them — barely audible over the wind. Because of that, one woman accidentally cut her hand open trying to shuck an oyster, and several people decided to skip the tasting altogether and head back to shore because they were too cold and wet to continue.
The whole experience felt rushed, poorly managed, and unsafe given the conditions. It was clear the company knew the weather wasn’t suitable but chose to go ahead anyway. For a $400+ tour, it was an awful experience that should have been postponed. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

This tour was amazing!!! It far surpassed my expectations. We got to eat 18 oysters each and a few shrimp/prawns. Bob, our guide, was so friendly and knowledgeable. He taught us all about how oysters are born, how long they take to mature, and the history of oyster farming in the region. Pro tip, if you're a tourist like us, uber will take you to this wharf but will likely not pick you up. Bob was nice enough to drop us off near the train stop to catch the hour-long train ride back to Sydney, so plan accordingly.

The Sydney Oyster Tour was absolutely incredible. We did the “Immerse Yourself” package and it was the perfect mix of nature, education, and indulgence. The team were great, especially our guide Bob who was so knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole day feel really special.
Wading out into the estuary, learning about oyster farming, and shucking 36 oysters ourselves, eating prawns and sipping champagne was such a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was so well organised, and the experience would make a fantastic and unique gift. Couldn’t recommend it more.
Wading out into the estuary, learning about oyster farming, and shucking 36 oysters ourselves, eating prawns and sipping champagne was such a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was so well organised, and the experience would make a fantastic and unique gift. Couldn’t recommend it more.

A fabulous experience in a wondered setting and delicious oysters and king prawns What a fantastic day we had ! I can’t recommend this experience enough . Bought the Immerse Yourself Experience for my partner last Christmas and we finally got to experience it last week.
The boat ride out to the Oyster Farm was beautiful. The talk given out about the oysters, history and farming was truly educational and some definite 'WOW...who would have thought that' moments.
Then the ride to where the tables were ready for us with oysters and prawns. A welcome glass of champagne, a lesson on how to shuck the oysters and off you go. If you had trouble shocking them, the staff were great in coming to assist. I'm not a huge oyster fan but loved the experience. Truly recommend it. We would definitely bring interstate or overseas friends to do it.
Note...when you book and they ask for wader size and they say to if you have bigger hips or chest, get a bigger size...listen. I wrote down my normal shoe size and then just emailed them I may need bigger and they bought an extra pair along with no issue. Thanks for a great day

This has been our most disappointing experience during our time in Sydney. Firstly we received an sms saying the tour would be 15 mins late to start. That was fine but it turned out to be a lot longer than 15 mins. We took the boat to the oyster beds and the guide spoke for 10 to 15 minutes about the oysters which was interesting - however he did lose his train of thought on many occasion and there was a lot of hesitation throughout. Also fine. Then they set out tables at the oyster beds, on the boats. So chaotic and it appeared as they had no idea what they were doing. (There were three guides aboard the two boats which were moored together)
I ate one oyster and my husband ate 4 (by choice)
Here is the thing - we thought this was a tour about oysters and that the focus would be on information regarding these creatures. It is not. It is a tour with a focus on eating oysters. So besides the 15 mins of information the rest of the time was spent shucking oysters. When you don't actually eat oysters then it is a monumental waste of money. There should be a ticket price for those not wanting to partake in oyster eating and for those that want to.

We did the oyster farm tour for our work christmas activity and it was a great experience. It was nice and serene on the water, great to learn more about oysters and learned how to shuck. We went on a hot 30c day and the sun was really high when we stopped for the oyster talk. It would have been perfect if there was a shade on the boat. The oysters were handed by bags, it would have stayed fresh if they were in some ice.

This was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever encountered. Starting with the boat ride, that was such a blast, then stopping off at the Oyster Farm. We got to see all the oysters in baskets and trays and learnt about the two different types that are harvested there. After that it was onto the Immerse Yourself Experience where we donned our waders, and headed out into the water for some fine dining. We learnt how to shuck our own oysters which is more easy than it looks, and dined on them with some prawns, and drank a little champagne and gin (if you liked). If you want to do something totally different while visiting Sydney I would highly recommend this awesome tour.

So good, we did it twice! We did the in oyster tour and in water dining experience. Both sections of the tour were amazing. We stopped in the oyster leases to learn more about oyster lifecycle and farming practices. Then we went over to a beautiful setup of white linen tables in the water and enjoyed the best oysters and prawns with a glass of bubbles. Then on the way back we did a short tour of the waterway.

Mixed Experience, But Worth It for the Oysters! I went on the Sydney Oyster Farm Tour with my girlfriends on March 8th (actually it was the International Women’s Day). It was a unique and fun experience, and I plan to return, possibly with my parents, who love oysters.However, the first part of the tour was poorly organized. The boat driver (an elderly man) stopped in the middle of the river for 40 minutes to talk about oysters. Unfortunately, those of us seated at the back couldn’t hear a word, and when we asked him to speak louder, he just ignored us. It felt like a bit of a torture under the direct sun.
But once we arrived at the tables in the river, the real fun began.
We were greeted with a glass of bubbles, and the fun of learning to shuck oysters started. The tables were beautifully set with white tablecloths and plates full of fresh oysters and prawns. The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, and the experience of shucking and tasting them right in the river was unforgettable!

The team at Sydney Oyster Farm Tours are simply incredible. We had to reschedule due to a family emergency and they were super accommodating. The day we went 4 weeks later was just unbelievable. Sheridan’s knowledge was incredible and the whole experience is something I’ll cherish forever. Just excellent Absolutely Brilliant trip. Well organised and very tasty. The Guides were informative and very helpful. And a free glass of Champagne while eating Oysters and King Prawns standing knee-deep in waders. (which are supplied by the tour). No special clothing required, just make sure you visit the loo before boarding and apply Sunblock. Also remember to bring extra drinks as one glass of champagne is not enough (for me anyway). They tell you all about the history of harvesting and breeding Oysters in the Sydney area. I would definitely go again and take a friend along. Smiling faces all round. I would recommend having a waterproof jacket as the trip out and back can result in some splashing. Nobody complained about getting a bit wet in fact it added to the atmosphere.read moreread less

We had a fantastic time on the Sydney Farm Oyster Tour. If we could give it 6 stars, we absolutely would. Booking the experience was easy, the service, team and communication throughout was excellent but best of all was the experience. Not only is it a totally unique experience, the oysters and prawns were as fresh as you could get them. On top of that, my mum who also attended the trip fainted in the middle of the experience and the team did all they could to ensure that my mum was ok. We really felt looked after and cared for. For this, we are all extremely grateful. Thank you so much guys for the best time.

Average Your was great. Oysters and prawns were great too. All the people working employed by the oyster farm were lovely too. Unfortunately the boat that we went on was the slowest ride you could ever imagine. The way back home is torture because of how slow the boat was moving. Really lovely Lovely experience with a super informative host and very friendly team. It was such a gorgeous setting nestled in the water with fish swimming at your feet sipping a glass of French champagne. The only feedback I would have is on a super hot summer day, it would be better to serve the seafood on some ice. The oysters and prawns got really warm which was quite unappetising. We ended up putting ours into our eski with our drink ice to keep them chilled. Overall such a lovely day but would definitely have made the trip so much more enjoyable with the chilled aspect applied.read moreread less
