Australia’s first amphibious Aquaduck ride…experience a Gold Coast city tour and river cruise in one.
The city tour portion of the Aquaduck experience begins in the heart of Surfers Paradise on Cavill Avenue. We head out along the famous Surfers Paradise beach towards the glamour and beauty of Main Beach. Along the way we take in the Pacific Ocean, Southport Yacht Club, Marina Mirage, The Imperial Hotel (the former Palazzo Versace) and learn about the Gold Coast as we head to the Broadwater.
That’s where the Aquaduck gets to show its true colours splashing into the water for a scenic cruise of the spectacular river and Broadwater. The cruise encompasses the key sights from the water, wildlife and all the activity of one of Australia’s busiest waterways.
While on the water passengers are free to move about the Aquaduck and the children have the opportunity to drive the Aquaduck and receive a Captain’s certificate.
Aquaduck is Australia’s original amphibious tour with over 2.2 million happy customers.

Great for Groups: Perfect for kids, families, or even adult parties. It encouraged teamwork and Tracey and Adam’s chemistry was a great ice-breaker.
Clean & Safe: Staff maintained hygiene and safety well, with clear instructions and plenty of towels or dry zones available.
Scenic Route: Even with the water fun, we still got to enjoy the sights if it was part of a tour.

Once we hit the water all kids on board got an opportunity to drive for a short while, and all got given certificates of passing their Aquaduck captain test, pretty cool! Some of the houses are unbelievable along the tour, including a house belonging to Jackie Chan!
Tour takes bang on an hour and it was a great way to spend the time! The last time I did this was approximately 14 years ago, before kids, and it was just as enjoyable without children back then, too, so it's not just a tour for families with kids! :)

Here’s some extra details to share, hope you don’t mind the novel!
If driving in, parking is at Circle on Cavill, I drove in from the north and missed it first time, but got it after circling and trying again from the south. It was a good hub to explore more of Surfers Paradise afterwards and some Woolies/Coles shopping before hopping back into the car. We chose to drive because public transport can be a little hectic with our autistic little one, but the Cavill train stop is pretty close by too.
The meeting point was a bit tricky to spot at first, but exit the car park lot and it’s literally on the corner of Ferny and Cavill, next to the Mantra Hotel. The room has a central desk that houses Southern Cross Tours, Paradise Jet Boat and Aquaduck tours. When checking in, they take a photo of you (for optional purchase later on the ride). Souvenirs are there too, ranging from shirts, plush ducks and Aquaduck toys, and duck whistles. There are seats at the centre, but our little one enjoyed sitting in a display jet boat until we were ready to board. Take note that there’s no toilets at the centre, but there are some nearby.
When ready to board, they round everyone up and it’s a 30 second walk up to the duck. Seats are pre-allocated and they call you up. We were towards the front, likely because of our little one, and the windows up the front felt like a secure area for him too.
The ride was great, lots of fun facts about the Gold Coast, the Aquaduck (ex-amphibious military vehicle) and lots of duck puns and jokes. Rules are to stay seated when on the road, but can move around when on the water. All the kids get a chance at driving in boat-mode and get a certificate later on the ride.
We finished the ride and drove back to the pick-up point. Explored more of Surfers Paradise and headed back home. This was a great highlight of our trip to the Gold Coast, a fun experience for our little one and enjoyable to be driven around to see more of the Gold Coast with fun commentary.
Kids loved driving the Aqua Duck and cherish their licences!
Highly recommend doing this!
Would give more than 5 stars if I could!
My son absolutely loved driving the boat and has not stopped holding his certificate since we left. Would recommend, and we will he back again on our next holiday 💓
Commentary is given about the buildings and areas which fall in the route and for fun little children onboard are called one by one and allowed to hold the steering of the Boat when the Aquaduck is in the sea and given 'certificates' by the 'Captain' of successfully navigating the Boat.
I think the ride is good just for once but is somewhat overrated.
Loved all the kids each being able to drive when on the water & receive a certificate for their fun experience.
Time given for parents to take photos as we are still cruising & sightseeing.
Quite a lot packed into an hour, value for money, so worth it!
The highlight, of course, was when we splashed into the crystal-clear waters of the Gold Coast. The seamless transition from land to sea was a unique experience that thrilled everyone on board. As we glided along the waterways, the panoramic views of the stunning skyline were breathtaking. It was a fantastic way to see the city from a unique perspective.
The staff was exceptional—professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Their enthusiasm made the trip even more enjoyable. They engaged all guests, inviting children to take turns steering the vessel, which was a delightful touch and greatly appreciated by the little ones.
Before booking, we discovered they offer a special family package on their website, making it both convenient and affordable for families to enjoy this wonderful experience together. The package included everything we needed for a memorable day out, with options tailored for all age groups.
The commentary provided was both informative and entertaining, packed with local stories and interesting facts that enhanced the journey. We felt connected to the culture and history of the Gold Coast, enriching our visit even further.
The Aqua Duck was comfortable and spacious, providing plenty of room to move around and take pictures. Safety was clearly a priority, as demonstrated in the welcoming briefing and throughout the tour, ensuring everyone had a safe yet exhilarating experience.
Having taken many tours, I can confidently say that the Aqua Duck offers one of the most distinct and enjoyable experiences. It's perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to explore the Gold Coast from both land and sea. The unique charm of riding in an amphibious vehicle, combined with the beautiful sights from the water, makes it a must-do activity.
Overall, the Aqua Duck tour exceeded my expectations and provided an adventurous day on the Gold Coast that my family won’t soon forget. If you're visiting and have time for just one tour, let it be this one. Don’t forget to check their website for the family package. You won’t regret it!

Jonty was great and was quite funny.
Jonty Rhodes used to be my favourite Jonty but now I think I have a new favourite.
Take your kids they will love it.
There was a little bit waiting time because it was on weekend. Recommend to get your tickets before hand.
Thank you for your kind service and facility
When we disembarked, there was a photo booth available, which was great for kids to take pictures.
This trip was quite suitable for kids because they let them take pictures pretending to be the captain, and the kids even received certificates and stickers.
Our guide, Sophie, was great and had a really lovely, friendly manner with all of us on the tour! The captain was good as well with plenty of knowledge about the area.
This is a quick tour to give a good overview of the main area of surfers in a unique vessel. Great for kids as all the kids had an opportunity to drive the duck in the water!
I would recommend booking the seats that face the open window especially if you want to take video.
Highly recommend.
Thank you!
It is highly recommended.
Very friendly and informative guides.
Had a mix up with my boarding time, so the lovely ladies at the desk done me a FREE souvenier photo.
Margie was very knowledgeable of the local area and extremely helpful with assisting our two young kids. Both our Son’s had a very fun time and us Parents got to enjoy the amazing views.
Thank you for a great tour. Highly recommend.
Just wanna say we LOVED our AquaDuck experience with Azza and Steve! They were funny, informative and all round nice guys! They had a great rapore with the clients and just made you feel at ease! I would of gone around and around and around again if I could afford to! Well done on a great experience. The only issue I found is getting there - Google maps took us to another company offering the same deal. Be careful of those ones! Glad we stuck with the OG! Will definitely be visiting again! Kind regards and best wishes - Chelsea from Adelaide :)
All in all its well worth the money I spent.
I really recommend this tour especially if you have little ones i can see them having such a great time. It was only my partner and i but we still had such an amazing time in the water and going around the roads of Surfers.
A big shout out and Thanks for the trip and info, Andy and Lynette or Anette (I think her name was) But gosh they were awesome!

Definitely better than the Singapore version, although the opportunity for a quiz and some historical knowledge sharing were missed!
Guides were laid back, great fun, informative and held our group's interest throughout the tour - Well worth joining a tour. Would definitely recommend!
