Fabulous Melbourne Food Tour We did the laneways and food tour with Kathy. The tour was very comprehensive and we learned so much about the history of the food found in Melbourne. We even experienced the first expresso coffee bar.
I would highly recommend this tour. You will not be disappointed.

A misleading tour name Our guide was lovely, friendly, and very passionate about the history of Melbourne. He went out of his way to make us feel welcome which was much appreciated. However, we had chosen the Laneways of Melbourne tour as we wanted to explore the laneways and learn of the history and subculture that makes them unique. Unfortunately, the first half of the tour consisted of a detailed general history lesson of Melbourne and a tour of St. Patrick's Cathedral. We did not hear mention about any laneways and did not enter in our first one until the tour was quite literally half over. While the laneway portion of the tour was fascinating, it was very short - a total of 3 laneways and about 45 minutes of the tour. The rest of the time after the laneways portion was spent looking in the city shopping arcades and having a cup of coffee. I felt misled regarding the content of this tour and would have much preferred a condensed tour focusing solely on the laneways.

In depth tour of Melbourne’s history and buildings. An extremely interesting tour that combined the architecture of Melbourne with the history of the city. The tour covered many of the well known buildings along with some smaller buildings. The guide was very knowledgeable. Note this tour requires a lot of walking.

Her deep and intimate knowledge of the history of Melbourne and the individual restaurants which comprise its rich food culture was fascinating. On a day that was particularly hot she paid close attention to our comfort, making sure that each tasting stop served us water and that when on the street we were in the shade. This is a great experience that we highly recommend.

Very interesting tour of Melbourne and its Art Deco history We really enjoyed the Melbourne Art Deco Architecture Tour with MELtours. Our guide, San, was very knowledgeable and shared so much about the city’s history and its Art Deco buildings. What made the experience extra special was being able to step inside some of the buildings to see the original decorations and furnishings up close—a real bonus. The tour gave us a deeper appreciation of Melbourne’s architecture and heritage and a two hour tour is just right for a Saturday morning stroll. Highly recommended!

Marvellous Melbourne with the equally Marvellous Katy I’ve visited Melbourne several times, I’ve even lived here for a few years a long time ago and I still didn’t know half of what we discovered today in this tour. From contemporary to original builds Katy, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable on all areas and buildings. She was great and engaging and even though there was two of us, and there were protests planned all over the city she showed up! Also kept us away from all that mayhem. 3-Hour Laneways of Melbourne Tour with John Sutton and Meltours I recently went on the 3-hour Laneways of Melbourne tour and it was absolutely fantastic! Our guide, John Sutton, was incredibly knowledgeable about the city's history, and he made the tour so engaging from start to finish.

Right from the outset, John showed us buildings and laneways in Melbourne that we’d walked past countless times before but never really noticed or understood the significance behind them. His insights into the history of these places were fascinating.

One of the highlights of the tour was discovering Brunetti's (Italian bakery), a hidden gem I didn’t even know existed. The place is amazing and definitely worth a visit!

I can’t recommend this tour enough. If you’re a local or a tourist, you’ll definitely learn something new and uncover some of Melbourne’s best-kept secrets. I’ll certainly be coming back for another tour in the future.

Interesting, detailed and great value for money The tour covers plenty of interesting sites in an hour, and gives an excellent picture of the city's significant buildings and styles. Our guide San is very knowledgeable, and he provided a great amount of detail on each building, the people involved, and Melbourne's architecture in general. Well worth the modest price.

Thanks San for a perfect tour Thank you very much to San for a first-class tour. Very informative and a genuinely fascinating insight into some of Melbourne's hidden architectural gems. The one thing I learned when wandering around Melbourne's CBD is to look up and around you when visiting as otherwise you'll miss out on so much! As San mentioned it obviously looks even better in winter when you can take advantage of the light.

Don’t go past the laneways tour! I booked a private laneways walking tour for our group of 9 ladies. San was a wonderful guide for our girls trip. Our tour was the perfect mix of historical facts and stories mixed with hidden gems we’d never notice on our own in Melbourne. The street art was fabulous, and Sam showed us many quirky little stores, laneways and fab eateries. I’ll definitely book MELtours again next time I bring a group to Melbourne. Highly recommended.

Definitely Spend Some Time Finding These!! These were REALLY interesting, and well worth seeing. The Mission District of San Francisco has a lot of street art and murals, but it is mush more sophisticated and mural-y, whereas my experience of the Laneways was more graffiti, which is more of a "HEY MA, LOOK AT MY INITITALS! I PEED AROUND THE EDGES OF THIS WALL!" than artistic expression. There are enough exceptions for me to give it a 4 and say "It is a must do in Melbourne!!"

I took the Miss Fisher’s tour with Carol, and had a great time looking at locations used in the show and learning about the buildings in Melbourne CBD. Would happily take another tour with this group.

Best walking tour ever. Kathy is wonderful. We went on the Miss Fisher tour of Melbourne. It was the off season but despite there only being two of us, Kathy decided to take us anyway. It was a two hour tour but she ran long since we were so interested in a historical tour of Melbourne through the eyes of the Greenwood novels and TV show, Miss Fisher Mysteries, set in the 1920s. Kathy’s knowledge of the city is fantastic and she interwove the novels with the history. She runs other tours, one of food in the city for example, and you can be sure that we will sign up for one on our next trip to Melbourne. Thank again, Kathy, you are awesome!

Brillant tour As recent time immigrants to Melbourne my Husband and I decided it was time to do some bar research. So pleased we did the Hidden Bar tour with San on Friday night. Covering no less than 20 bars ( some we went in to and others we looked from the outside) we went at a leisurely pace for 3 hours and thoroughly enjoyed all the knowledge that San generously shared. If you would like a fantastic night out with good company and cocktails this is highly recommended!

I’m Melbourne born and have walked the streets of Melbourne for a decade and John knows his city that’s for sure. We are here for the tennis which is also fantastic I must say this tour was one of our highlights this time.

A joy for Phyrne Fisher fans Miss Fisher Murder Mystery Tour. Great tour and would recommend for Phyrne Fisher fans. Kathy's 'behind the scenes' insights on the Phyrne Fisher TV series were informative and entertaining. A friend I did did the Architecture of Melbourne with San on the weekend. We visited many beautiful buildings, and learnt so much with San's incredible knowledge. I have been living in Melbourne for many years, but still discovered so much.

Lane tours of Melbourne Kate from Meltours (I believe that was her name) and the whole tour was excellent. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging. We were fortunate to end up with a private tour so we had her full attention. Kate took us to hidden arcades that we would have never seen if not with her. She had a love and pride of the city, it was obvious and made the experience that much more engaging. A definite must do when in Melbourne.

This is my second tour with Mel Tours, so truly recommend them.

Marvellous Melbourne If you think you know Melbourne, think again! Kathy lead our group of three friends on a fascinating and quirky tour of a relatively small area of the Melbourne cbd. Who knew so much was packed into a block or two. I doubt you would find many of these spots by yourself and certainly not in three hours. We loved to hear the historical stories and the contemporary aspects of marvellous Melbourne. All three of us are from Melbourne (two now living elsewhere) but learnt so much. Love to do a similar tour of Melbourne covering a different category of interest.
