This is a must do tour and visit! Everyone extremely knowledgeable and well spoken around the project. A lot of passion and love for penguins and a great close up experience without upsetting the penguins routine! Thank you

Great experience. Not too many penguins on our tour due to windy conditions, but the tour guide more than made up for that, providing informative facts about these animals.

An authentic fairy penguin tour. An authentic, intimate tour with very knowledgeable and caring hosts. Far superior to the Phillip Island mass tourism experience.

Good experience. Easy pick up from central Bicheno. Bus takes you out to penguin area. Well organised and very informative. Plenty of penguins to see, in a respectful manner. We had to sit quietly while the penguins made their way up from the ocean to their nesting boxes. Only downside was there were three busloads of people on the night of our tour. Wondering if the penguins would be a bit more forthcoming with a few less people.

I had an unforgettable experience with Bicheno Penguin Tours! November is the perfect time to visit, as it's when the penguins come ashore to nest. We saw heaps of penguins, including adorable baby chicks, and even witnessed a bit of penguin drama – some of them were clearly having a heated argument!

As an added bonus, we also spotted a wombat during the tour, which was an amazing surprise. The guides were knowledgeable and made the experience even more enjoyable with their insights into the penguins’ behavior and habitat. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area – it’s truly a must-do for wildlife enthusiasts!

For the best chance to see the penguins, I’d recommend visiting between September and January, when they’re most active onshore.

What an excellent tour! We saw many penguins across about an hour at the beach (not including the short bus trip there and back). Our guide was able to answer all the questions we had. Would highly recommend for kids and adults. Be sure to bring warm clothes!

Unique ecotourism not to be missed! The guide was amazing and up close to wild fairy penguins in their natural habitat. We had the best time!! It is the perfect length and October is in the breeding season so there were ample penguins to see. Bicheno is lovely but I came for the penguins and this tour exceeded all my expectations!

Great place for the whole family There were three generations in our family group, and everyone had a ball. We stayed at tha Gaolhouse cottages (Gaolhouse, Schoolhouse and Stables), and Sue who we arranged these through was fantastic setting us up for our stay. Waub's distillery tour was well worth it. Great scallop pies in town. Nature World is nearby and provided a terrific experience for us all - especially the devil feeding.

Exceeded my expectations! We checked in at the shop and were shown to our mini bus spot on time. On arrival at the Penguin area our guide Mel introduced herself and gave us a short briefing.
We went to an area and watched the penguins come out of the sea and walk across the beach before making their way up to the nests. We saw more penguins than I'd expected and they came close by. Mel took us to a few different locations to see the penguins making their way up to their nests. It was an incredible experience that exceeded my expectations. I'd highly recommend this attraction and I think it is great value for money.

1st the Penguins. I think if you want to see penguins THIS is the way to do it. They are very well organized and very informed. I learned a lot. But the most important - we saw penguins!!!! we were there in the winter so 'only' saw 20 or so. It was an amazing experience!!!!! - Oh and the shop - cute and well stocked and I found a great shirt on sale!

This was absolutely the best experience so far. The little creatures are amazing. You just want to pick them up and cuddle them (but I didn't). Our guide was brilliant. His knowledge and experience meant he could answer all our questions. The penguins walked up, waddling right next to our feet as they moved to their burrows. In the hut there are three viewing burrows, one of which contained a penguin on an egg. Wow, just wow!

A bit overpriced for what it offers.Included is transfer to a specific beach and some commentary. Unfortunately we weren’t able to see very many penguins on the night, which we understand that’s nature. Overall staff were friendly but would have like to have spent more then just an hour there for the price we paid. Also only the staff hold red torches

This was my first ever penguin tour and I highly recommend this tour for any one visiting Tasmania’s east coast. Our Tour Guide Elise is very knowledgeable and gave a great guided tour. It was a wonderful experience.

Great Tour! The tour, like most other attractions in Tasmania, focuses on the conservation of wildlife, and we are very glad to have taken this tour instead of going out to see the penguins on our own.

The tour was professionally run and our guide was very knowledgeable. More importantly, she made sure that we did not disturb or do anything that would harm/scare the penguins while we were watching them. These are things which we wouldn't have known had we gone to see the penguins without a guided tour (e.g. shining white light at them and chasing after them).

We were brought to a spot on the beach exclusive to the tour where we saw many penguins (it was breeding season)! Red lights were installed so that we could see the penguins. The kids love it!

Went here tonight after pre-book ing well in advance. Chose to do this instead of Phillip Island.
I really enjoyed the experience of seeing the small penguins come in. Quite a number of them and excellent proximity to them. The pictures are hard to take due to lighting, cut that's required for the penguins.

Penguins up close Penguins waddle straight past your feet up the beach for the night. The penguins are in their natural habitat and visitors are asked to stay still and let the penguins go where they choose. The night we went we saw group after group of penguins climb up the beach and into the dunes for the night. Such a wonderful experience to see them without a fake zoo like environment but doing what they naturally do without human interference.

Unfair threatment This company is naking a difference between people some get less than 1 hrs where others fot the same price spent over 2 hrs a the pinguins. Made a complaint about this but never received an answer from them. Very poor business

Amazing! One of the highlights of our trip. We learned a lot about the penguins, saw them at different stages of the night (chicks waiting for parents to return, parents emerging from beach, preening, couples reuniting, couples sitting on eggs, etc), and one even walked through my legs!! Everyone on our tour got a great view of penguins multiple times. SO GREAT! Must do!

Couldn't recommend this tour more! It was such a wonderful experience! My friends and I were visiting for a girls trip and all the staff were amazing, super knowledgeable and excitable. Our tour guide whose name I have forgotten was there when we saw penguins in "full waddle" (which is now one of our top10 phrases so thank you sir). If you are in Bicheno - this tour is a MUST!

Great experience. My only regret was trying to take too many photos and not just enjoying it. It's very hard in the low light and even the shots you do get are red glow affected.

It's clear doing this tour how much care and respect this company has for the penguins - all steps are taken to ensure that the penguins are disturbed as little as possible when coming up the beach to the rookery, however you still get a chance to see them up close! Once in a lifetime experience

An absolutely magical experience. Lovely small groups and quite an intimate penguin encounter. The conservation efforts of Bicheno Penguins is impressive and so important. Would recommend to others looking for an experience with penguins while in Tassie!

They have their own private rookery, which they have worked hard to increase the number of penguins over 30 years.

Well organized, living their mission Numerous staff not only guiding the humans, but keeping the penguins safe. It’s clear that they take their role seriously as penguins stewards. We came in the winter (bring warm clothes!), and were thrilled to see so many incredible penguins, and see them up close. Peering into one of the nests was really special. Definitely worth taking the tour over trying to see them on our own.

We had the best experience at Bicheno Penguin Tours tonight and all three of us on the tour agreed it was undoubtedly a major highlight of our trip to Tasmania. We were travelling with our friend from San Francisco CA who said it was one of the best experiences he had in the entirety of his five-week long trip across Australia. Our guide was informative and friendly, and we got to see the penguins up close which made the experience so incredibly enriching. Absolutely a stellar experience and all three of us gave this tour a 10/10 - thank you for having us!

Your money isn't wasted as it goes directly back into the penguins, working to provide them burros etc. Would 100% recommend for the whole family, whether just driving through or stay a week.

They are willing to share interesting stories and very knowledgeable, I can tell they love the penguins very much and this is really important to me :) this is my first time joining this tour, second time in bicheno, but I will totally come back again and visit those little happy feet.

Wonderful tour Found out about the tours when we arrived to Bicheno. Was easy to book the tour the same day. It was very windy and little cold in the evening,so make sure you are rugged up.
The tour guide Sebastian was wonderful in explaining about little blue penguins life, the sanctuary, the fun facts. Although we did not have very close encounter with the little penguins but it was worth visiting.

Absolutely Sensational From start to finish this tour is absolutely sensational.. Great guide to tell us all about the penguins. It is so well set up. This is a must to do when in Bicheno & helps save the penguins from becoming extinct.
Everyone needs to do this short fantastic tour money will be well spent. If you have a good camera with light settings take it as no flashes are allowed as it scares the penguins. The photos are on my iPhone & solar lights red ones are used as they don’t harm the penguins eyes.

Unique Tassie experience! Very lowkey yet educational. An incredible opportunity to watch these birds in their natural habitat coming out of the water, across the beach, and into their burrows for the night. Thoroughly enjoyed as a solo traveler on a long weekend holiday.

Great experience to support conservation of little penguins and see them in nature! Got to see wild penguins up close .was told chance of seeing 10-20 penguins saw a lot more than 20 .The walk around the habitat was level and easy we were able to sit and observe the penguins coming up pathways to their burrows I spoke with a very friendly guide who cares for the conservation and protection of the penguins .. the work that has been done to repopulate the Bicheno penguin rookery is amazing!

A short bus tour to the location at night to be there in time to watch the penguins make their way from the water to their hutches/burrows.

The tour guides were informed and great to talk to.

The penguins were nervous but keen to make their way to their burrows after a long day of fishing.

We watched as the penguins nervously made their way forward passing us in very close proximity on their way to their final destinations.

There were 4 or so viewing spots, 3 at the foreshores and one where their burrows were.

This is a great thing to do when near Bicheno.

Awesome experience! Very informative and knowledgeable tour guide, lots of opportunities to see the penguins and plenty of time to quietly watch them do their thing. We went in the off season but still saw plenty of little penguins! Would recommended this activity to everyone!

Penguin delight! This tour is very well-organised. We saw lots of cute little penguins close up (around our feet) and enjoyed the entire experience. Would have liked more introductory information in the entry room before being led out to the penguins. Our guide warmed up to his task and was became more informative as the tour progressed. I'd highly recommend this tour if you're in or around Bichen!

we saw several penguins even though it was off season. the folks conducting the tour were laid back, friendly, and knowledgeable. s/o to Kathleen for keeping the people on track and being enthusiastic about the little penguins.

Good Value For Money Penguin viewing tonight and the guided rookery tour of Bicheno Penguins. Seriously cute little creatures who came up the tracks from the beach at their own pace to find their way to their nests, some of them 1.5 kms from the beach! At the pace they move and the stop/start nature of it, some of them mustn't spend much time in the burrow before its back out to sea at 4:00am. The information from our guide was pretty good, although as the evening got closer to us getting back on the bus, she relied a lot on anthropomorphisms to appeal to the those caught up in their cuteness and to block questions (who do you think was asking those?). This is a private business and the whole thing was professional and well worth the cost. Lots of information. Lots of fury critters.

Only one negative: the bus driver had a cough. For all we know, he is tested daily but he and a few others on the bus were coughing and making us nervous, despite our state of the art face masks. The rest was outside, so little risk.

A delightful evening tour to see the Little Blue Penguins returning to the rookery after their day out at sea. The tour was well organized and it was a special experience to be able to get so close to the Penguins. Highly recommended tour if you are traveling to the east coast of Tassie.

INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!! The group tour I was on spent the night in Bicheno and this was an optional tour we could take and I jumped at it!!! I felt the price at the time was reasonable for Australia (2017) and am I GLAD I did it. The driver let me sit right next to him and we had a GREAT chat!!! Super cool bloke. When we got to the area where the adorable little blue penguins are, we first went through the building that explains a lot about them and that was really good stuff. Our guide was super nice and educational. When we got to where the little penguins nest after dark, they were AMAZING!!! We had a number of them get really close to us. I even had one walk right between my legs!!!! I won’t EVER forget that!!! We also saw a few wallabies/kangaroos around. I can’t say enough great things about the whole experience!!! From the pickup to the drop off point by the driver to the wildlife and great guide, you MUST do this!! I went to Phillip Island a little after dark to see the penguins go to their burrows from the sea, not too far from Melbourne and really liked it there too (absolutely LOVED the guide), but I feel the penguins here are slightly more accustomed to people, therefore a little more intimate experience. The penguins don’t seem to get as close to us homosapiens at Phillip island. Again, I cannot recommend this experience enough!!!! If you do it, you’ll have memories of a lifetime!!!

So memorable Wonderful experience seeing the penguins up close. Our guide was knowledgeable and informative. The whole trip was well organised and the group wasn’t too large. There aren’t hundreds of penguins but this small colony is so used to people that they walk right next to you. We even saw a parent feeding a chick. Well worth making the trip to Bicheno for this alone.
