- Departure Point: Your journey begins in Launceston, Tasmania. Complimentary pickup from your Launceston accommodation is available.
- Schedule: This premium 3-day experience departs three times per week year-round on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (subject to occasional custom group variations).
- Flexible Payment Options: Secure your place with a 50% deposit at the time of booking (for departures 30 days or more away), with the balance due 30 days prior to departure.
- Early Bookings: For bookings made 365 days or more in advance, a reduced 25% deposit option is available.
- Booking Fee: An additional booking fee of 1.9% is applied on the final booking page.

I had an amazing four-day experience with Blue Derby Pods Ride in early July 2026. It was one of the most memorable solo holidays/adventures I have had. If you enjoy mountain biking, put this on your bucket list.
The experience is “turn-key”. All I needed to do was turn up in Launceston before the departure time. Food, accommodation, transport, bikes and equipment (except riding clothes), and the guides/hosts were all provided.
The food and accommodation were top-rate. The guides were friendly, very knowledgeable, and able to deal with different levels of riding experience. I got a few good coaching trips along the way. The accommodation is warm and cozy but be aware Tasmania is cold in winter - bring warm clothes!
Of course the standout is the riding. The trails in the Blue Derby network are simply amazing and I had four days of great riding, including a beautiful 42km trail down to the Bay of Fires, followed by lunch on the iconic beach.

If you are Reading blue Derby pods ride reviews to decide whether you want to go or not. Do not hesitate! What a fantastic experience this was!! The crew, Misty, Owen, Finn and Danni were absolutely fantastic and there was nothing that they would not do for you. The riding was absolutely brilliant and it was so nice to have a local Guide with you. The pods are absolutely brilliant so nice and warm. It was wet for the first day and a half when we were there after that the sun came out and made everything even better. The facilities, the food, the company was all simply brilliant! Cannot recommend you guys enough and cannot wait to come back for a second trip!

Had a wonderful experience mountain biking with Blue Derby Pods ride in such a beautiful part of Australia. The pods were warm and cozy, the showers super hot with a view, the food and snacks plentiful, nutritious and super tasty The high end plush e-bikes were a sweet ride and the crew, Misty, Owen, Finn and Danni were just awesome with their warm hospitality, excellent and thoughtful guiding based on riders experience, friendship, laughter and great communication which no doubt will provide a lifetime of memories that's for sure. This experience way exceeded my expectations and I will certainly be back.

We just finished the 4 day experience at Blue Derby pods a week or so ago as a group of 4 from Colorado. We were coming to Derby as part of a larger overseas trip to Australia / NZ and it was fantastic to have this part 100% taken care of. The previous review by Brad was spot on - ditto to all! The transportation, location, scenery, trails (world class!), food, guides, entire experience surpassed all of my expectations. My only wish was that it was longer!! Can’t wait to return. Kudos to the amazing team for creating this experience and sharing it with us.

We’ve just finished the Blue Derby Pods Ride and honestly, it’s one of the most incredible holidays we’ve ever had.
Everything about the experience is exceptional.
The trail network is world-class. Every day delivered something different, flow, tech, views, adventure and the way it’s all connected makes it feel like you’re riding through a purpose-built MTB paradise.
The scenery is unreal and the variety of trails means every rider finds their sweet spot.
The accommodation is absolutely top-notch. The pods are beautifully designed, comfortable and perfectly positioned to immerse you in the landscape. Waking up out there each morning felt special.
The food? Next level. Every meal was thoughtful, generous and genuinely delicious. After big days on the bike, it was exactly what you hope for and much more.
But the real magic — the thing that ties it all together and elevates it from “great trip” to “unforgettable experience” was definitely the hosts.
We were lucky enough to be guided by Dani and Finn.
Dani is phenomenal. Her knowledge of the area is unmatched, she’s incredibly well-travelled, a brilliant storyteller, and someone who clearly loves what she does. You learn so much just riding alongside her.
Finn is wise well beyond his years. Calm, insightful and passionate, with outstanding mountain bike knowledge and a deep understanding of Derby and Tasmania. He’s the kind of guide who makes you feel instantly comfortable and confident.
Both of them are exceptional riders and guides, but more importantly, they’re exceptional humans. They truly made the experience what it was.

December 2025 pods adventure The Group cohorts consisted of 1 pro biker
Fathers and son - previously at BDP (both bikers themselves)
Couple - experienced road bikers, not done mountain biking.
Me - zero exp of off roading to levels of these people
Started of great for Day 1
Day 2 - in morning went to a new track, which was called hazy track and was good.
Second track not so good, steep corners and Fell off twice.
It then Quickly became clear of the significant split in the riding ability. Being somewhere at the lower end of the levels
Ending up doing solo cycling afternoon to branxholm and back without guides as they took others on more challenging trails. Did not think I’d need to pay significant amounts of money to go on my own, could easily hire a bike and ride myself etc.
On day 3, due to not being suited to blue trails, could not do long one, and therefore Ended up doing bush walking - was either that or sit doing nothing
Given you are paying for a “luxury and premium offering” I felt it did not come up to that level in terms of the riding experience.
The pods were fantastic, the people were great, the guides were fab too and the food was lovely. However I believe you are paying for the riding experience which is front and centre as everything else is not unique.
Day 3 felt like a write off No value
Having spoken with the boss (Tara) on day 1 and her ambition of marketing the product internationally, I believe there are a number of business flaws which would need to be rectified before attempting to get overseas clients etc. It is not a cheap experience and therefore needs to match the significant expenditure required.

I have just completed my second 3 Day Experience with the Pods team and can only echo what the other reviewers are saying about what a fantastic experience it is. Derby has a stunning natural environment, and the MTB trails are world class. On top of that however, every aspect of the Pods experience is outstanding, from the accommodation, the restaurant-quality food, the equipment, and best of all, the friendly and knowledgeable Experience Leaders who take such wonderful care of their guests. Nothing is too much trouble, and their coaching and guidance on the trails (for those who need it like me!) is invaluable.
Whether you are a hard-core mountain biker, a tentative beginner or anything in between, everyone is catered for. I highly recommend the Derby Pods Ride Experience for anyone considering a trip to Tasmania.

Steve and his wife have crafted something truly unique. The bespoke accommodation leaves you feeling so connected with nature. The food has been crafted by a famous chef and uses all local ingredients. The bikes and equipment are top shelf and make you feel like a pro. We were not huge mountain bikers before but this experience converted us. Unreal! Can wait to head back again.

Blue Derby Pods is a rare and special place that is a must visit. Immersed in the beautiful bush, you will feel inspired by the stunning architectural design of the sustainable property. One of my favourite parts of my time was sleeping in my gorgeous pod looking into the bush and sky, and also the library nook in the main building. The staff are so professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I felt taken care of, nourished and inspired. Will definitely visit again!

Took the option for a prior guest special trip in February 25 that took us to come new rides in St Helens as well as the best of Blue Derby. I was travelling with my “energiser bunny” friend who needs 8 hours daily exercise and had reluctantly splashed out to join me for this trip. No problems for the Blue Derby guides who came up with a special itinerary to cater for him and me (helped by an e-bike). An amazing three days, the accomodation and food continues to be a highlight, the guides are awesome and excited to have guests who want to push it hard and equally happy to teach less experienced riders. Overall every mountain biker should treat them to this experience at least once in their lifetime. Well done Pods team for another amazing experience. Thankyou for thinking outside the box for returning riders and I look forward to a return visit in the future.

Incomparable NOT a once in a lifetime experience! I dream of returning again to this amazing, flowing, and fun hideaway in the middle of a picturesque bike park.
Our stunning guides/teachers/bike mechanics/cooks- Danni and Finn- left no stone unturned to give us a full luxury on and off bike experience.
Incomparable experience- just do it!

First the negatives. Blue Derby Pods Ride has ruined mountain biking for me. After day 2 I said: "this is my best day ever riding". After day 3 I said: "now this is my best day ever riding". And that's even taking into account I probably cracked a rib midway through the day. I fear I will never have a better day on a bike. Also I started my 4 day trip the lightest and fittest I've ever been in my life (at 63). 4 days later, my "lightest" accomplishment was out the window (the food on this trip really is next level). OK, my "negatives" really are just testament to how wonderful the whole experience is. Our fantastic guides/chefs/medics/new friends Dani and Fin made this trip a highlight of my life. I can't imagine there is a prettier place in the world to ride. Everything is impeccably well organised, yet completely flexible for varying skill, weather, whim and health conditions. Thoroughly recommended and I'll be back. Thanks to everyone.

Next level fabulous I was going to call it a once in a lifetime experience, but I have to go back. Impeccably well organised in a stunning environment. If you are vaguely interested in mountain bike riding you have to do Blue Deby at least once in your life. And if you can afford a little luxury, let Blue Derby Pods Ride make it a truly memorable experience. Our guides Dani and Fin took care of our every need. The catering and logistics are seamlessly taking care of behind the scenes. I can't imagine a better holiday.read moreread less

We had an absolutely sensational time up at the pods last month. The experience itself is incredible, with the best part being the level of fun the whole team bring.
The access to one of the best mountain bike parks in Australia is second to none, but you feel as though you are completely in the wilderness with the serene quiet and relaxing nature the pods offer.
There is something for everyone in this experience, with great food, beautiful conversation, relaxing energy and some incredible mountain biking. Book it while you can!

I did the 3 day ride. Was beautiful, weather was great & I went in August. The guys at Blue Derby Pods Ride are the nicest people on the planet and the accommodation, the rides, absolutely everything is so worth doing this trip. Highly highly recommend.

An incredible location, incredible facility and outstanding staff. Our stay was met with endless rain, wind and of course mud..lots of mud. Without the guides local knowledge of the trails and the amazing accommodation features (inc fireplace and boiler room to dry ourselves and equipment) and catering we would have wasted our 3 days trying to ride solo and stay in alternate accommodation. Instead we had 3 days of solid riding despite the conditions, all controlled and communicated at a level to suit us that we could adapt and change if required. Our stay was completely stress free with all key things provided including bikes and basic wet weather gear...and food, so much food. I would highly recommend the Blue Derby Pods Ride to all persons of all levels, it's far more than just riding it is a well packaged experience that you will never forget!

The food and drinks were plentiful and of exceptional quality. The central 'hub' with dining area and kitchen was an ideal place to relax and spend downtime, and the twin-share pods with stargazing windows were more comfortable than we had expected. Best of all, our guide for the weekend showed us the best way to use our bikes. Dani showed us the best of what Derby has to offer and made sure we got the most out of it, and became a fantastic mate in the process. Blue Derby Pods Ride might be a once in a lifetime experience, but I hope I can find time for another visit in this lifetime!!

Put this place on the top of your bucket list. This trip was epic in so many ways. The food, the amazing and very comfortable off grid accommodation, the hospitality, then there is the scenery and the mountain biking. I was sceptical to start, and not that excited. Im not an experienced MTBiker, I'm not keen on being out of my comfort zone and single track has never been on my list of to do's after experience elsewhere. I had a ball, still cant wipe the grin off my face. My partner was well looked after despite not being able to join in the fun due to still convalescing from a previous incident. He too very much enjoyed himself, was happy, comfortable and had plenty to do. Dani is an extraordinary coach and guide with so much talent, patience and personality. Dani had me happily doing what I had never imagined could be enjoyable, she is excellent in imparting her knowledge and made what I thought were mountains into molehills. Then there is Lori, amazingly capable, funny warm and sociable. Lori has a wealth of knowledge and curiosity about anything local, the best shuttle driver ever and a fabulous host to my partner showing him around whilst I was out enjoying the mountain bike trails.
Riding Blue Derby was like Disneyland only better, lots of eye candy and soo much fun. Blue Derby Pods may be a little expensive but worth every cent. I hope to be back and also share with some friends.

Could not recommend this more strongly! A trip where everything is taken care of for you - the whole experience is amazing from start to finish. No need to worry about how to get there, which trails to ride, how to get your bike there - these guys do it all and they do it well. Can't wait to go again! Plenty more trails to explore.

Thank you to this team for a spectacular experience. We thought this was to be a leisurely easy going bike ride with a beginner aspect but it was more advanced. We enjoyed bushwalking swimming and drove to the bay of fires. A lot of effort from the friendly enthusiastic crew.

My husband Chris and I were novice riders in our fifties and I have to say I was a bit nervous about how this was going to be, but Danni, Charlie and Misty were amazing. They taught the skills with patience and with their vast experience to ensure I felt safe all the time, but also was able to get out of my comfort zone just enough so that when we returned to the pods, to relax after a beautiful meal, the feeling of achievement was so satisfying. The skies were clear, the stars shone and now I am back in Melbourne I have some impressive bruises to remind myself that I am still a capable human!

A fantastic few days spent with guides Finn and Charlie who couldn't have done more to make it a better experience. A great trip with my 13 year old son, we both loved the challenge of riding new trails and having the epic pods to return to each evening to eat excellent food, share stories and relax. Archie and I will return to Derby for sure.

I went in October 2023 for a 3 day experience with two mates and I have to say this was one of the best experiences I have ever done. Our guides were fantastic, super fit and fantastic riders but were able to balance the skill levels of our group, plus helped upskill some of us through the trip so we could try out the most advanced trails. The accommodation and food was in its own right a highlight to the trip – warm and extremely comfortable – more comfortable and peaceful than many 5 star hotels. Absolutely no request was too much for our guides, they let us control what we did and when while also providing support through food, drink and advice. Definitely will be back again.

Absolutely perfect MTB retreat! Everything about our Pods trip was perfect. The location, the incredible guides, the amazing local food was presented with a relaxed professionalism and the Pods accommodation was beautiful, comfortable and unique. Starting the day with tea in bed whilst watching the pademelons sets the tone for an amazing day ahead. The Derby trails are super fun but made so much more enjoyable with experienced guides yhat quickly become riding buddies. Even experienced riders can improve their riding in a few days. The flow is easy to find at the Pods with a perfect combination of fun, learning, food and relaxation. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay for a month! You know when you find something so good, you have a momentary thought that you don’t want to share how good it is, so you can keep it all to yourself? Well the Blue Derby Pods are that place for me. What a beautifully and sustainably designed place in the heart of the Derby world class MTB network. We went with a group with varying MTB skill levels. This proved no issue for our expert Experience leaders who bent over backwards to ensure the time was adventurous, fun and memorable. The keen riders hit the hard trails and the e bikers took the less strenuous but incredibly scenic options. Paired with the sauna and massage, this little slice of heaven on Earth ticked all the boxes. We didn’t have to lift a finger, not even to make a cuppa. We were truly spoilt with our guides care and expertise and the abundance of local Tasmanian produce that was absolutely delicious. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself to one of these experiences. We will be back!

This was an outstanding experience on all accounts. Our hosts: Dani; Finn and Lori were top-notch professionals and couldn't be more accommodating. We loved the flexibility; the outstanding equipment; the food; the expertise; the unique accommodation; the company and did I mention the food? Our Blue Derby Pods experience was great value and I wouldn't hesitate recommending a few days with these guys in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia.

Woweeee - what a sensational experience! If anyone is thinking about whether to do it and they're reading this - this is your sign to just book!!! Guarantee you won't regret. I went with my dad and 2 brothers and we all rated the trip 10/10. We had Tim and Finn as our guides and we absolutely loved them both. Their knowledge, enthusiasm, banter and kindness made the whole experience that much greater. None of us have been mountain bike riding before and we learnt SO MUCH. We had the best time and went down some pretty exciting trails by day 3. The food was amazing too! I'm gluten free and that was no dramas at all - everything was delicious and nutritious. The pods were great - the values this company have are great - the views are stunning. I can't rave about this place enough. Thank you for an incredible few days!

Best Mtb experience ever This is our third time at blue derby pods ride. We love coming back. It’s different every time whether it be the rides , guides , weather or different people.I learn more and more every time about a sport I have grown to love.
Being in this beautiful part of the world is incredible as well as allowing me to be “ in the present “ much of the time .

I've just returned from a Blue Derby Pods Ride and I'm back to work, but I couldn't wait to share my thoughts on this amazing experience. Three friends and I decided on a whim to book this weekend away. Although I didn't know exactly what to expect, I knew it involved mountain bike riding and comfortable accommodation. What I found was an experience that I'll cherish for a lifetime. From the moment we were picked up in Launceston to the final goodbye, our hosts treated us with such genuine care and kindness. Dani and Tim were amazing guides, and I can't thank them enough for their expert guidance and great company. The mountain biking was the highlight of the weekend. As someone who is a regular bike commuter at home but had never ridden a mountain bike before, I was surprised at how easy it was to adjust to this new sport. We had no trouble riding the green runs around Derby, and by late morning we were confidently tackling the blue runs. By the end of the day, we even dabbled in some black runs! At no point did we feel pushed beyond our limits, and we always felt well-guided. The scenery we rode through was simply breathtaking. From stunning rain forests to clear lakes, the views were constantly changing and always surprising us. As for the accommodation, the pods were cool, functional, and comfortable. The food and drink were simply outstanding, and every meal conveyed the overall spirit of generosity that pervaded the whole experience. If you're adventurous and looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, then the Blue Derby Pods Ride is definitely worth considering. I can't recommend it enough!
