Amazing Blue Mountains Tour Our day trip to the Blue Mountains was spectacular. Mike is a fantastic guide who knew all the places to take us for the best views. He even stopped so we could view a mob of kangaroos in a field (from a safe distance, of course!) It truly felt like the a personal tour with a friend. A very knowledgeable one at that!

Really great time seeing the Southern Highlands and the South Coast. Amazing engineering of the bridges over the water on the way. Fantastic vistas and we were able to see at least five humpback whales. Mother and calves looked like they were doing the backstroke! The large blowholes gave a fabulous explosive spray up into the air. The small one was exceptionally good because a dog kept getting sprayed by it.
Best of all was the breathtaking view of the Fritzroy Falls. Recommend the tour.

Had a great 2 day tour experience with Michael! Our first day was a bit of a wash as it was pouring going up to Blue Mountains but Mike did his best pointing out possible photo spots and shops we could go to make best use of the time. Luckily the day touring the Northern Beaches and Ku-ring-gai was much better so we could appreciate the beauty of Sydney’s northern beaches and appreciated Mike’s knowledge around the area.

We had a great trip to Blue Mountain thanks to Mike. He made a schedule that could best suit our interests and needs. The lunch spot he had brought us was delicious as well.

Go Beyond Tours – highly recommended for seeing the best of the South Coast and the delightful Southern Highlands. In May 2025, following a national Conference of one of my organisations in Sydney, my wife and I chose to do a South Coast and Southern Highlands tour with Go Beyond Tours on our last free day before returning to Brisbane, our hometown.

From start to finish this was a good day out, for which we thank James our courteous and careful driver who also kept us informed about the various places we visited. It was nice that this was a private tour with just my wife and I and James as driver in a most comfortable touring car.

The tour packed in a lot of attractions in this scenic part of New South Wales with pick up at 8:30am from our accommodation at the A by Adina and return at around 7pm. We certainly felt we received good value for money. We felt we were afforded ample time at each stop to fully appreciate the attractions on offer.

First stop made 68 kilometres south of Sydney was Bald Hill Lookout in the Stanwell Tops area offering beautiful coastal, escarpment and cliff panoramic views including the zig zag Sea Cliff Bridge in the distance. It was a good time to stretch the legs at this first stop. The Flying High Café was there serving coffee and snacks – however we declined and chose to just sit and admire the incredible views.

Next we travelled along the 665 metre Sea Cliff Bridge as it zigzagged around the coastline like a slivering snake. At the end of the bridge is a parking area where we were able to stop and admire the bridge close up. It construction has been monumental with the following facts gleaned from one of a number of weatherproof information signs installed there for visitors – 60,000 tonnes of rock imported to build the access track at sea level; 11,000 cubic metres of concrete used in the bridge structure; and more than 100 people working on the project. The bridge was built so the piers and bridge deck are well away from the rock fall hazards. It cost $ AUD 49 million to build and was opened on 11 December 2005 with a design life of over 100 years. Indeed an impressive engineering feat.

From the Sea Cliff Bridge it was on to the Kiama Blowholes but not before a short stop at Sharky Beach at Coledale (17km north of Wollongong) – Nothing to write home about and perhaps just a chance for us to stretch the legs. The Kiama Blowhole was a big disappointment. There were several people watching and waiting like us; however it was all in vain as there was not a single powerful, upward spray or plume of seawater as we had expected and anticipated. We later learnt that this situation is not uncommon and it does highlight the unpredictability of “Mother Nature”. Still, we did admire the impressive Kiama Lighthouse nearby. All was not lost, however, in the Blowhole stakes because we had made a stop beforehand to Endeavour Lookout, also in Kiama, and witnessed the far more reliable Little Blowhole (reviewed separately) and she performed a treat and consistently with sprays at times up to 10 metres high. That was an amazing experience and made up for missing out on the main event.

Lunch was had in Kiama (120 km south of Sydney) and we opted for the historic Grand Hotel (established 1891), which was being extensively renovated, and we enjoyed a great meal. I have reviewed this hotel separately. It was pleasing that James chose to eat with us rather than cocoon himself on his lonesome elsewhere, like many tour operators often do. James was surprised when we chose “The Grand” as he had not considered that as an option before – however, like us, he was impressed enough to agree to include this hotel in the lunch options for future tours. We enjoyed a good walk around the streets of this charming beach town after lunch – the historic Post Office building (built 1879) in particular, on coastal Terralong Street, was a standout feature on our walk.

The tour continued after lunch with a lovely drive through the Southern Highlands with a first stop at The Lookout Cambewarra Mountain (28 km west of Gerringong), which commands a magnificent panorama of Shoalhaven City, stretching from Coolangatta Mountain in the north, way down to Pigeon House Mountain just inland from Ulladulla, in the south. There is also an award winning restaurant here (we did not go in) which has operated since 1909 apparently.

On to the famous Robertson Pie Shop (reviewed separately) in Robertson (where my wife and I bought cold pies to heat up for our dinner) before the “jewels in the crown” on this grand tour – Carrington and Fitzroy Falls (both reviewed separately). These are two spectacular waterfalls distinctively different in their own way. Driver James definitely saved the best for last. Carrington Falls are reached from a car park picnic area via an easy walk along a beautifully constructed walkway that loops around the edge of the escarpment, passing several lookouts as well as banksia trees. The sight of the Falls is quite incredible as the water cascades 90m down to the Kangaroo River below. The circuit loop from picnic area back to picnic area is 570 metres. Fitzroy Falls were reached via an easy 150 metre walk to a lookout with good safety rails. From the lookout, we had a perfect view of the top of Fitzroy Falls as it cascades over prominent sandstone cliffs into the gorge below. What sheer majesty! The water descends nearly 100m before it makes its way through Yarrunga Valley toward the Shoalhaven River.

That then is a snapshot of our impressive day tour on our last day of our short Sydney visit.

If you have a day spare in your Sydney travel itinerary and you don’t have your own transport then a day tour of the South Coast and Southern Highlands is a good option. It follows that we would highly recommend your considering Go Beyond Tours to take you there. .

The Perfect Tour! When in Sydney take time to get out of the CBD and experience the glorious Northern Beaches with some of Australia’s best beach’s, the stunning Kuring-gai National Park and Aboriginal sites. A massive thank you to Ian, our guide for the day, who was fantastic - I was travelling with my aged parents on what will likely be their last trip to Australia, & Ian tailored the trip to our interests and pace, and being a local, was a wealth of knowledge and knew all the hidden gems to truly showcase this stunning area that offers something for everyone - culture, beaches, wildlife, scenery, walks/hikes, sports/adventure, shops, cafes, restaurants etc. etc. - I can’t wait to return and spend more time exploring this beautiful region of Sydney.

Amazing Private Tour of Sydney’s Northern Beaches! Our experience was absolutely fantastic! Me and my mom were the only one that sight up that day, so it ended up being a private tour — which made the experience even more special. Amazing Tour The day after booking the tour, Mike reached out and let us know exactly where and what time he would me our group. Most places wait until the day before the tour, yet this was all confirmed and we already received details weeks before. When we arrived after 25 hours of travel, we were exhausted. We felt getting picked up from the airport and doing the tour would be the best way to transition to the next time zone. Mike was very engaging & funny, as he told us the history of each place we visited, as well as information in general as we drove by attractions or in neighborhoods. We were able to stop at so many locations and took some great pictures. There is absolutely no way we could have covered as much of the city without Mike. This was by far our favorite part of our visit, and we couldn't have asked for more. 10/10 recommend!

We had overseas visitors here to surprise my husband for his Birthday. We wanted to incorporate both the Blue Mountains and the Hunter Valley. Mike was amazing! He collected us from our door, drove us to the Mountains for a tour, arranged Scenic World and then collected us the next morning to transfer us to The Hunter Valley. He arranged all the wine tastings and made it all so seamless. We also did a Hot Air Balloon ride on the Monday and Mike then transported us back to Sydney to the door. Absolutely the best weekend. Mike is professional, reliable and knowledgeable. He made planning this surprise so easy and great value. Could not recommend Mike and Beyond Tours any more highly!!!

Cruise terminal to airport filler tour. We needed to fill our day between disembarking a ship in Sydney to flying out late evening so we approached Michael to see if could accommodate us and give us some sort of itinerary to fill our day. The response was positive and on the morning of disembarking, we were met at the cruise terminal by Mark, who was so laid back he was almost horizontal. He was great company and we enjoyed the banter along the way to our first stop of Wentworth Falls, the journey took about 1 ½ hours and we then spent 40 minutes or so viewing it from the various lookouts. 40 minutes later we arrived at the Three Sisters Lookout for some breathtaking views of the Blue Mountains iconic landmark. Here we spent about an hour enjoying and photographing the views.
We decided that our next stop would be good for a lunch break and our driver suggested the Katoomba RSL which is what we did. We probably spent too long there chatting and eating because our next stop was Scenic World. There were three rides there that we had planned to do but because of the queues only managed one which was the Skyway This was a cable car ride across the Jamison Valley. It’s the highest cable car ride in Australia.
Because of the timing and the really long queues, we had to cut our stop short and decided to head back to the airport. Had it been a weekday and no queues we could have achieved a lot more. You always need something to come back for.
Mark dropped us off at the airport at 5:15 and in good time to check in for our flight back to the UK.
This little excursion filled our day perfectly and a big thanks to Michael for organising and to Mark for being a great companion for the day.

Great trip! Great day trip out to the blue mountains! We enjoyed visiting feather dale and all of the look outs. Definitely recommend!

Good tour matched to your wants or needs We went on the Central Coast and Glenworth Valley with Go Beyond Tours. Mike is good with correspondence before the tour and will change the tour according to your wants or needs. We especially enjoyed the horseback riding and the fact that we were able to be dropped off at the airport for an evening flight.

Disapointing Very Disapointing. From reading all the reviews and viewing the photos of others I feel like we were in a different city than others. We were looking for a city tour and wanted to take the climb up at the Pylons of the bridge, as this was our only day in Sydney. Our guide was James, and calling him a guide is a bit overrated. We arreived at the airport and had all instructions to meet Michael at the Mc Donalds, We were at the McDonalds on time and even early. We received a note from James stating he was our guide and we were to meet him in pick up area of yellow express. We inquired to where that was and waited there, no James. We inquired again and told we are in the correct spot, again no James. We communicated to him where we were even giving a lot number, no James. He would tell us where he was at the airport and keep telling us to be in express but we were according to more than one airport employee. Then prior to meeting us and stating wher we should be he now tells us he is 20 minutes away, to go grab a coffee. I guess this was suppose to be the morning tea mentioned in the tour, as there was no stop for that either. Tests went back and fourth about where we were and finding us, he literally had no idea about this airport in his home city and where I am sure he had picked up people prior. After about 45 minutes he found us. His reason for not meeting us at McDonalds was he blamed Michael stating he keeps forgeting he has a van not a bus, so he has no where to park. My thought was Michael must too have a van as he does private tours, additonally park in short term parking and pay the fee to meet us, as we are the customer and paid well for this tour.

The " tour" now began, I firmly belive he made this tour up on the fly. First no water, which was he had to remove his fridge to make room for our luggage. Then we went to some look out spots for views of the bridge and opera house and if we asked a question we received an answer but no addiaonal information along the way. We were mostly driven to some lookout points and told this is a good neighboorhood this one not so much. Just prior to lunch we were asked what time we made our pylon climb for, I stated I did not know what time was scheduled as I did not make arrangements with Michael, I just know we were going there and had to pay on our own. He had to call to verify this with I am sure Michael. We went to lunch, at a nice place I belive it to be the U.S, version of a VFW hall with a view of Bondi Beach, we did not see areas that others are posting of Bondi with the swimming pool etc. We then drove from beach to beach to beach, each time all we heard was, here is another place people surf and got back in the van. If there were walking trails etc, we did not know about them or told we had time to do them. At one stop, James even got back in the car and it was a local, who told us to go up the street where the whales were breaching. We also did a stop at Luna Park, it was not on the tour, but we though the entrance looked cool, so we walked around there for 10 minutes. Then our time to go the the pylons and museum. Again for a local tour guide I would expect more, he could not find it, so stopped at a hotel to ask directions. Once we found the street, he dropped us off where one does the brifge climb, not the museum and pulons, so we had to walk doewn the street until we found the correct entrance, James followed in a van. We did the museum and clim, came back to the van to find James asleep in it. That concluded our day, as stated in title disappointing. James is no tour guide, he is a DJ from what he tells us , but his knowledge is mostly his opinion. Nothing learned in Sydney, and James does nothing for Sydney or for the company.

Mike had a great plan for us to see everything we wanted to see. Pickup was right from our hotel and off we went to see Koalas and Kangaroos at Featherdale Wildlife Park. We had a lovely lunch picnic before continuing all of the must see spots and hikes around the blue mountains. Mike was knowledgeable and kept our timing perfect. He definitely can cater the tour to what you would like to do. The Van was very comfortable and spacious. Next time we are back to Sydney we will definitely book another tour with Go Beyond / Mike!

Amazing City Tour Michael knows all the secret spots in Sydney! My husband and I really enjoyed learning about Sydney’s history and the Aussie culture on this private tour. Michael drove us to places in the city that we didn’t know existed and we were able to get great pictures of the Harbour with the Opera House and Bridge.

Michael even brought coffee, tea, and Tim Tams, as it was a bit rainy and windy that day.

We ended our tour with Michael dropping us off at Coogee Beach, where we did the ocean walk to Bondi (which took a little less than 2 hours). From there, we took one bus back to downtown Sydney, which took about 40 minutes.

Wonderful day !!! We enjoyed our day. All the places had this stunning panoramic views. It was just awesome looking at the Kiama blowhole and little blowhole got us drenched and laughing. James our guide was very friendly . He took us high up the mountains to this amazing restaurant with great views of the valley for lunch. We spotted wombats and plenty of parrots there. An Enjoyable Day with Stunning Vistas We had a gorgeous day for exploring the Northern Beaches and Ku Ring Gai Chase national park. Mike took us to some stunning spots, we saw incredible houses, and we had the opportunity to take beautiful pictures! Our tea in a park was shared with a couple of friendly brush turkeys! The bus was comfortable and we stopped at a fun little club for lunch, where they even had an aviary filled with native birds. Finally, we wanted to do a little shopping on the way home, so Mike dropped us off on the Corso in Manly so we could walk from there to the ferry. Overall, a really enjoyable day!

Great day out Enjoyed by everyone We had a great day at the Hunter Valley tavelling around some great wineries and distillery. We ended our day with some fabulous dessert and then back home. Mike was great, he was very obliging and I would highly recomment Go Beyond Tours for transport for your next group outing. We will definately use them again

A beautiful drive along the coast!! We really enjoyed this tour going down the coast and seed the kangaroos and the wombats . Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and really made the entire drive and the stops along the way fun to see. A very relaxing tour and fun!!

We met lovely koalas, kangaroos, and different species of reptiles at the Reptile Park. Our guide Mike took us to have a nice lunch, visited pelicans at The Entrance, milk factory for chocolate and cheese, and different lookouts with great views. A highly recommend trip!

There’s a reason this a super popular tourist trip Great, but definitely include the Featherdale Animal Park. It is an extra charge but 100% worth it .

Best day in Australia! Mike was the perfect tour guide for our visit to Featherdale and the Blue Mountains. Our group included an animal loving teenage girl, her daredevil dad, and her grandparents. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip and it will be remembered as a highlight of our visit to Australia!

Disgruntled - Beware I have never left a review and it has taken me many months and much encouragement to do so. After much homework I booked and paid for a private blue mountains tour 4 months in advance. The night before I was contacted by Mike to say there was a different driver. I was disappointed as Mike had such great reviews. This tour was in November 2022.
I have never been on such a bad tour in my life- it was not a tour rather a poor Uber ride. I didn’t complain to him as he had low self esteem, was pleasant and trying but just very simple. We stopped at a green light, went through a red light, swerved lots, listened to private phone calls, heard about other clients of his who said that his tour was the worst they had been on in the world and heard all about his private life. I just wanted to get home safely. My daughter was scared.
We didn’t go to the wildlife park as we wanted to spend more time in the blue mountains. This was not to be and we were back in Sydney 2 hours early. He was better as a Sydney Uber driver! We asked to eat at somewhere more scenic in the blue mountains but this was not possible- there was no choice. We waited whilst he looked up directions to his next lookout.
We would have been far better off on a group tour and actually had a tour rather than a non knowledgeable driver, which would also have been far cheaper.
I discussed this with Mike and gave him plenty of opportunity to get back to me and he has ignored me. It was not the driver’s fault but Mike should never have put him or us in that position.

Fun Day in the Blue Mountains Enjoyable day spent with our tour guide, James, touring the Blue Mountains. Selected the Featherdale Animal Park Option and highly recommend adding it during the tour. Communication leading up to the tour date was good and the tour itself was well worth the price. Would recommend doing this tour again if you have a day to explore the area outside Sydney.

A terrific day getting away from the city Great communication from the start. From the moment Mike met us at the Circular Quay, to MANY hours later, we had a great final day in Australia in the Blue Mountains. The Featherdale Animal park was a highlight, the trip west and the stops we made were well timed, informative and just plain fun. We LOVED Scenic World and Katoomba. While we had a full day and were ready to get back to catch an early morning flight to LA, Mike asked, " Where do you want to go next?" He's a gem!

Beautiful Blue Mountains We had a perfect day in the Blue Mountains thanks to Mike of Go Beyond Tours. We’d communicated in email prior to coming to Sydney, and he arranged our day to include exactly what we wanted to see and do, even managing to show us an additional unexpected lookout or two, which we appreciated. He made it easy to see and do things, keeping in mind our physical abilities and taking care of logistics, so that all we had to do was enjoy. He is friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. We would definitely do another tour with Mke and highly recommend Go Beyond Tours to anyone visiting Sydney.

Simply Superb We cant fault this private tour in fact if you could give 6 stars we would have done. Mike was a great guide, knowledgeable, informative and friendly. We had a fantastic day with superb weather. The tour gave us a Sydneysiders look into the city and all its amazing sights. Mike chose the most fantastic venue for lunch. Have done a tour of the city on a previous visit but this surpassed it by a mile thanks to Mike.

Ghosting I contacted Mike to enquire about a tour I’d like to have had to the blue mountains. He replied straight away saying that the dates I required where available. He asked how many it was for. I replied, I told him I was a solo traveler, and that I’d be happy to join a group (I’ve seen similar solo travellers post reviews recently on trip advisor). I heard nothing absolutely nothing back!
I left it a couple of days, allowing for Mike to reply, but still nothing. I sent another message asking for an update to my enquiry, to which I received an immediate reply telling me, he takes out a minimum of 2 guests, and it was for private tours only!
I would have really appreciated a reply to my original enquiry at the start. I thought it was unprofessional and disappointing, not to mention almost feeling slightly discriminated.

Mike, May I suggest if you have enquiries that don’t suit your narrative, be responsive at the time and be honest. Don’t ghost.

Nice variety in a day tour I loved this trip with Michael and a Welsh family. It had Aboriginal history, glamour, and gorgeous beaches.

Great Trip, Brilliant Host! The highlight was, I think for us, the sky walk over the rainforest in Illawarra, but, in truth, the whole day was fantastic! Having experienced Mike's tours previously, we fully appreciate his route planning, which crams so much in to the tour, but at the same time delivers a pace that doesn't leave you exhausted at the end of it. We would highly recommend this trip, along with any of Mike's tours, such as the Northern Beaches outing, which Mike tailored for us to find, and include, a particular beach that my wife remembered from her childhood. Great trips with a really nice, helpful man

Fantastic tour! Mike was a great tour guide... very friendly, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. The itinerary was perfect for us, as we only had two days to be in Sydney and this served as a great overview of the city and region. We will definitely book with Mike again if we are lucky enough for a return trip in the future!
