What a beautiful place! It truly feels like a little piece of heaven on earth. The gardens are absolutely stunning, peaceful, and incredibly well maintained. We enjoyed every moment and can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommend!

Visited in winter and the garden still had a lot to offer. Good facilities, great views and helpful staff. However the way to the maze and from the maze back to the cafe turned into a pure nightmare. Almost nil signs put up to indicate the exit and we were lost in spite of following the map and kept walking on a gravel road with 3 children and an elderly person for about an hour when we finally ran into a staff who showed us the way back. They really need to work on placing more way to exit signs and benches for kids and older people.

Beautifully maintained gardens with stunning scenery, peaceful walking trails, lakes and waterfalls. A perfect day trip from Sydney, especially during autumn when the colours are amazing. The property is huge, so wear comfortable shoes and allow plenty of time to explore. The café and overall atmosphere were great too. Entry is a bit pricey, but not bad for a one time experience. Recommended for photography lovers.

We had such a lovely experience at Mayfield Gardens. The glamping stay was beautiful - the tent was super clean, well set up, and felt really special.

The gardens are stunning, especially in autumn. We also really enjoyed the three-course dinner at the café - everything was fresh and delicious, and breakfast the next morning was just as good.

The only small thing was the cold overnight. I understand it’s part of the glamping experience, but a bit of heating (even outside the tent) would’ve made it more comfortable.

We still enjoyed the stargazing despite the weather, and overall it was a really memorable stay. We’d definitely come back - just in the warmer months next time 😊

This garden is a hidden gem in NSW, the best season to visit would be April and May when most of the leaves are turning red and yellow.
It would be a great chance if you could stay a night in the glamping area, you could stargazing, super starry night.
When you're staying overnight, the cafe atvthe entrance also offer dinner as well, and their 3 course meals were so amazing.
However, just something to beware, there's no toilet at all in the garden, so if you need to go toilet, you have to walk all the way back to the entrance to use the public restroom which I find a little bit inconvenient when I'm having my grandma with me!

If you’re planning a visit to Mayfield Garden, I highly recommend going during autumn — it’s honestly the best time to experience the place. The entire garden transforms into a stunning orange and red wonderland, and every corner feels like a postcard moment.

Be prepared to walk quite a lot, so wearing comfortable shoes is a must. The paths aren’t exactly heels-friendly, and you’ll enjoy the experience so much more if you’re comfortable. Also, make sure to dress appropriately for the weather — it can get quite cold and windy, especially during the cooler months.

One of the highlights for us was the free boating on the lake — such a fun and relaxing activity. We also grabbed hot chocolate from one of the food trucks, which was perfect for the chilly weather.

There’s a restaurant near the entrance, but keep in mind that it closes earlier than the garden itself, and the next dining option is quite far. If you’re visiting with kids (or even just want to be prepared), bringing snacks is a great idea.

Also, don’t forget to bring a power bank — you’ll definitely be taking heaps of photos because the garden is just that beautiful. Lastly, public toilets are limited, so it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with their locations early on.

Overall, such a magical and peaceful place — definitely worth the visit! 🍂✨

Dragged my hubby to yet another garden and I got the best reaction from him. He loved the views, the grotto, the aviary, the lake walk. It took us about 2 hours to walk the grounds. Finishing off with a cold beer was heaven.

Stunning garden. So much to see and an incredible variety of plants, flowers and structures. The Copper Tree was a highlight. Recommend allowing at least a few hours to explore the gardens and ensure you take water with you, lots of walking! We had a little difficulty roaming with a pram as there are some bumpier areas as well as stairs in some areas, but this did not dull our experience

Amazing gardens just not “glamping” The gardens are beautiful and on an amazing scale. The food at the restaurant was really excellent. We were impressed.

We did glamping, but you have to carry a jug of water and a lamp up with you, the single usb charged fan was tiny and didn’t help as it was hot, the open roof showers were fun but the toilet paper comes on one of those cheap public toilet paper massive round rolls.

It really isn’t glamping so it shouldn’t really be advertised as such but it’s ok for a night. The price should better reflect those things. Food great though and staff lovely too.

Overall fun, but camping a bit below expectations.

We will be back, as after 4 hours walking and enjoying the gardens there was so much more to see, as we only visited part of it, seeing the size from top of the hill. What an extraordinary place, it’s delightfully beautiful with so many outdoor garden areas to discover.

Beautiful! A picturesque setting! Plan to spend 4 hours here to take in all the beautiful areas. Our favourites were the maze and the stump graveyard. Recommend you wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to climb the hilly area for a magical view of the grounds. We also had breakfast in the cafe- highly recommend the French toast 👌 Overall, a great day at Mayfield Garden!

I was amazed with the size and magnificent view.
Had a night in then tent and it was an unforgettable experience. Though it was still very cold with very close to 0 degree, the quilt and bed provided was warm enough.
The dinner we had was very nice. The staff, the taste and environment were just 10/10.
Love to come back again.

Delightful gardens We “glamped”. All the provisions i.e tent, bed, dooner, towels etc were absolutely fine. Unfortunately the proprietors have no control of course over who stays at the facility. It did not make for a good nights sleep when he in the neighbouring tent was a loud snorer from late evening through to near sun rise. An interesting, once in my lifetime experience.
That aside, the gardens are truly enjoyable and we did enjoy their beauty.

Went here when first open, and enjoyed it. Have also been to care for lunch on occasion.
Have been to a number of gardens both overseas and in Australia.
This would rate with any I have seen now. It is a long walk with some areas closed and being upgraded. But still takes a considerable time to see and appreciate everything.
Definitely worth doing in 2 stages. View the water garden, go and have lunch, and make sure you do the other areas after lunch. Also be sure to take water with you.

It is a spectacular 65 hectare private garden that is open to the public. It is considered to be one of the the largest and most spectacular cool climate gardens in the Southern Hemisphere. It has sprawling gardens, maze, chapel, stumpery, aviary, garden rooms and every other feature across the garden. Popular place, need to go early to avoid the heat as well. Fair bit of walking around, some under shade. Uneven terrain, lot of walking on paved pathways mostly. Popular with tourists and locals. You can spend several hours here depending on your interests. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Toilets available. Restaurant available at main entry/exit point. Beautiful place. Lots to see. Parking is easy at off peak times. Great place for photography. You can book ready installed tents for overnight stays.

A huge and stunning garden. Being spring, many plants were in bloom. Some beautiful flowers.

Mayfield is enormous with a very diverse range of plants life. So many different water features , stone constructions and architectural aspects.

Plan to spend at least 3 hours to have a good look around.

Lots of places to take a a seat and have a picnic lunch or throw a rug down and enjoy the sun, sights and sounds on the many lawns.

Entry fee may seem high but you can see where the money goes. Lots of staff and the upkeep must be enormous.

The cafe looks good, but we brought our own food and drink.

The staff were friendly and helpful.

Lovely cool climate garden. Will be spectacular a little later in the spring, and stunning during autumn. Cafe on site, staff friendly and helpful. We had a shared cheese/ meat platter for lunch, very filling. We visited during the week, and it was quite busy, would be extra busy on weekends and during holidays. Absolutely stunning gardens with breathtaking views all year round. The grounds are beautifully maintained, with so much to explore – from the formal gardens and hidden pathways to the water features and the lake. It’s a peaceful and relaxing place, perfect for a day out with family or friends.

A place where heaven meets.

There was a lovely woman and a kind man at the café—maybe the owners or staff—and both were super friendly and welcoming. I asked for my coffee to be really hot, and they nailed it! (Not everyone gets that right.) The atmosphere was so cozy and peaceful. We spent around two hours walking in the garden, and had a great time with the kids. Thank you so much for your genuine kindness and warm smiles. ☺️ I absolutely recommend this place!

Don’t care about all the negative reviews. It was well worth it. Even though it was winter, cold and drizzling rain, the views, gardens, and the meticulous eye for details was incredible. Not overly accessible for wheelchairs, motor ones would be good. Apart from that the photography was excellent. Well worth 3-4 hours wounding around. Lots of steps, and each section is hidden, so you have to go hunting. Even though the copper tree is right out of the way, well worth finding. Enjoyed all of it. The staff were extremely busy and very helpful. Top job.

Amazing well kept grounds. The autumn colours were gorgeous! The different sections made wandering around interesting. Although a bit pricey for entry to a garden, I can understand how expensive it would be to maintain such a place. I would love to see the garden again in springtime.

A very wonderful place to visit. We went there Autumn season. The weather was perfect and the plants are vibrant. I suggest coming early to secure parking. We were not able to do the maze simply because we have a pram and a 2 year old with us. Nonetheless, the experience was worthwhile.

I’ve been here 2 times now! What I always love about this garden is how big it is and how pretty all of the colourful trees. Would recommend to come during normal weekdays. ‘cause last year when I came, it was super busy because of school holiday (you won’t be able to take picture freely).
I would also recommend to come earlier in the morning so you can really enjoy the entire place (follow the map!). Bring your own food and picnic mat as well!

This place is beautiful and HUGE. Lovely garden and grounds. We had fun in the maze and enjoyed discovering sculptures, animals and lovely views around every corner. It really is a huge place. I didn’t really come prepared as honestly thought my 12yo son would be bored but he loved it. I’d recommend bringing water and snacks or even a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds. You could easily spend 2-3 hours exploring. We didn’t eat at the cafe onsite but it smelt amazing.

This was my second visit to Mayfield Garden in Oberon, and once again, I was absolutely mesmerised. We visited during autumn, and the colours were simply breathtaking—the vibrant reds, oranges, and golds made the whole garden feel like a living painting. Despite this being my second time, it still felt fresh and enchanting.

My family felt the same way—completely in awe of the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Every path invites you to slow down and take it all in. Mayfield truly has a way of making you want to come back again and again. An unforgettable experience, and we can’t wait to return!

The most spectacular gardens I have ever seen We've just returned from our first visit to Mayfield Garden and it definitely won't be our last visit! We thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful attraction and are in awe of the meticulous planning that has gone into creating these wonderful gardens.

I could go on forever, but I'll just mention some highlights - our favourite would have to be the maze (we actually walked to the end of the property and pretty much started at the maze); the water gardens with water lilies; the gorgeous big lake; all the bridges and grottos scattered throughout and too many other things to name.

We have decided we need to go back - we'd like to try glamping onsite (it was all booked out this time) and spread our visit out over 2 days, to maximise the experience.

Oberon Weekend We spent the weekend in Oberon and paid our second visit to Mayfield Gardens . our first visit was about 10 years ago when we were a lot younger and fitter 🤣🤣
The weather was perfect and the autumn colours magnificent .. we had a wonderful day but the gardens are challenging for older people.
One of the paths is advertised as mobility friendly but it isn’t there is a long walk over gravel to reach it but it is hard to find and the map is confusing .
Better signage would help and some form of a cart to drive around the gardens would be a bonus for older people.
We managed seeing everything we wanted to see and rewarded ourselves with a Prosecco and a beer in the covered area near the cafe.
Our lunch before the walk was delicious . prompt and friendly service .
Entry fees are expensive.

Garden gem It was a bit of a detour but well worth it. A great cafe /restaurant is at the entry. It has a small menu all of which is seasonal and delicious. The gardens are extensive and beautiful, making for a relaxing and refreshing stroll.

Glamping Dirty, noisy and very poor value Garden’s sensational but glamping very dissatisfying especially given the cost $475 per night. Tents wet, dirty and smelly , mould 10cm from your pillow - see pictures Tents so close together that absolutely no privacy or sleep. No cancellation means paying a second night/ normally you would get a refund if your hotel was this dirty.. Save your money and stay elsewhere- . If a motel charging this was this unclean you would leave.second night fellow guests even worse than first running throughout gardens screaming and partying until 2:30 am. Would never stay again.Bitterly disappointed as it was supposed to be a treat away.
