Embark on a truly unforgettable journey to Banubanu Beach Retreat, located on Bremer Island. This hidden gem is rich in cultural significance and natural beauty.  


The island, Known as “Dhambaliya” in the Yolngu language, is steeped in history and has been home to the Yolngu people for tens of thousands of years. Its name pays homage to Matthew Flinders, who charted the coastline during his 1803 voyage.

Located just a 45-minute boat transfer from Nhulunbuy, this exclusive day trip invites you to explore one of the last untouched frontiers of the Australian coastline, where nature’s beauty takes centre stage. 

Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the island’s pristine white sand beaches and turquoise waters, perfect for a refreshing swim or simply soaking up the sun. Discover the island’s natural wonders as you wander along scenic walking trails that showcase diverse flora and stunning coastal views.

Lunch is not included in our day trip, allowing you the flexibility to order from our seasonal à la carte menu during your visit.


Please note: A minimum of six participants from May – October and a minimum of eight participants from November -April is required for our day trips to proceed. In the event this requirement is not met, Banubanu Beach Retreat reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the booking. Guests will be notified in advance and offered alternative arrangements.


Our transfer boat departs Gove Boat Club Boat Ramp at approximately 9.30am and returns approximately by 4pm Wednesday to Sunday. We are bound by the tides so times may vary. 


The Bremer Island Escape departs Wednesday to Sunday from 01 April- 31 October

Your trip departs at 9.30am from the Gove Boat Club Boat Ramp, located at 1 Drimmie Head Rd, Nhulunbuy.

Please bring a hat, sunscreen, thongs, towels, bathers. 


Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the island’s pristine white sand beaches and turquoise waters, perfect for a refreshing swim or simply soaking up the sun. Discover the island’s natural wonders as you wander along scenic walking trails that showcase diverse flora and stunning coastal views. 


Visit the Seabreeze Restaurant, where you can enjoy a great selection of meals, refreshing drinks, and stunning ocean views. Savour fresh, locally inspired cuisine, and make the most of the retreat’s pool facilities amid the beauty of this eco-paradise. 

Seabreeze Restaurant is fully licensed and is open from 9:30am to 2pm. No Alcohol or food to be brought onto the island.

Snorkelling equipment and non motorised equipment is include in your day tour.


The Bremer Island Escape departs from Bremer Island at 3:00pm, arriving back at Gove Boat Club at approximately 4.00pm.

 

Note: The Gove Boat Ramp is located next to the Gove Boat Club, just twelve kilometres from Nhulunbuy. There is a large parking area available.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

PASSENGER DISCLAIMER Banubanu Beach Retreat – Vessel Transport to Bremer Island 1. Acknowledgment of Risk By boarding the vessels “Snubfin” and “Nomad” operated by Banubanu Beach Retreat, all passengers acknowledge and accept that marine transport carries inherent risks, including but not limited to adverse weather conditions, rough seas, vessel movement, and potential mechanical issues. While every effort is made to ensure a safe journey, passengers understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. 2. Assumption of Responsibility Passengers agree to take full responsibility for their personal safety and well-being during the journey. This includes following crew instructions, wearing appropriate safety equipment (such as life jackets, if required), and exercising caution while embarking, disembarking, and moving around the vessel. 3. Limitation of Liability To the fullest extent permitted by Australian law, Banubanu Beach Retreat, its owners, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be held liable for any personal injury, loss, damage, or death resulting from participation in vessel transport. This includes, but is not limited to, injuries caused by natural events, third-party actions, or the passenger’s own negligence. 4. Medical Fitness and Responsibility Passengers confirm that they are medically fit for marine transport. Those with medical conditions, mobility issues, or special requirements must notify the crew prior to booking. Banubanu Beach Retreat is not responsible for any medical issues arising during or after the journey. 5. Cancellation and Weather Conditions Banubanu Beach Retreat reserves the right to cancel or postpone vessel transport due to adverse weather conditions, safety concerns, or operational requirements. In such cases, passengers will be offered alternative arrangements where possible. 6. Personal Belongings Passengers are responsible for their personal belongings. Banubanu Beach Retreat is not liable for loss, damage, or theft of any personal items during transport. 7. Consent and Agreement By purchasing a ticket and boarding the vessel, passengers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to the terms outlined in this disclaimer.
