I can see how Bribie Island certainly lives up to its reputation for being known as the 'forever shifting Island'!
Many thanks to G'day Adventure Tours for a wonderful morning!
Much of Bribie Island -- accessed via bridge, little more than 1 hour north of Brisbane -- is accessible only by 4WD. While a regular visitor since childhood 50 years ago, this wilderness with its lakes and vast untouched beach was unknown to me.
Our tour guide, Jason is a real local and his love of this island was evident. He was friendly and knowledgeable – explaining aspects of natural history, and cultural history I’d not heard of.
Highly recommend the tour for a real wildlife experience that’s off the beaten track.
We saw roos, wallabies, lace monitors, stone curlews and sea eagles which was very exciting, and although we didn’t see turtles or dolphins, Jason spotted a baby blue bottle (Portuguese Man of War) on the sand which was interesting!
The tea tree lagoon kayaking was a highlight, the serenity and the golden-brown water!
And the history of the bunkers and their part in WWII was fascinating.
We loved our time in Bribie Island and this experience really made it a special trip.
Many thanks, Cliff & Pat,
Jason was punctual, professional, and effortlessly engaging, setting the tone for a day that was as informative as it was enjoyable. His depth of knowledge about the area is remarkable — weaving together history, politics, and the local environment in a way that was insightful, balanced, and genuinely fascinating. You don’t just see the landscape; you understand it.
The key highlights elevated this tour to something truly special. Meeting local experts — including a passionate turtle specialist — offered rare, hands-on insight. Digging carefully through the sand to uncover 121 turtle eggs was unforgettable, and learning about the hatching process and conservation efforts brought the experience to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
Another standout moment was the beautifully organised kayak experience in a calm, peaceful lagoon. Gliding quietly across the water was nothing short of magical — serene, immersive, and a perfect counterpoint to the adventure on land.
What truly sets this tour apart is the thoughtfulness. From drinks and snacks provided at just the right moments, to camping chairs set up so everyone could relax and take in the surroundings, cricket bats and soccer ball, every detail was considered. It felt welcoming, generous, and unhurried — a tour designed for people, not a timetable.
Jason is, quite simply, a top bloke — warm, knowledgeable, and deeply passionate about what he does. There was something for everyone, whether you’re a history buff, nature lover, adventurer, or simply looking to experience the area in comfort and great company.
Highly recommended. This is how a Bribie Island tour should be done.
G’day Adventure Tours with Jason took us on an amazing guided tour of Bribie Island. We travelled by 4WD down to the beach, then stopped at a beautiful lagoon where the tour continued by kayak. The water was tranquil and incredibly easy to paddle on — the kayaking was definitely the highlight of the day.
Jason was extremely knowledgeable about the island and had a keen eye for spotting wildlife along the way. After kayaking, we visited the WWII bunkers, where Jason brought history to life with engaging stories about why the bunkers were built and how they would have been used if the Japanese had invaded Australia.
A fantastic experience from start to finish — informative, relaxed, and fun. Highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to explore Bribie Island in a unique way
Jason was positive, informative and very patient, especially with my lack of kayaking skills, and went above and beyond to ensure every guest felt welcome and enjoyed their time.
I went on the tour that provided a 4WD ride along the beach, history tour of the WWII fort ruins and kayaking and it couldn't have been better!
It was so interesting and just a perfect mix. It really is something special to be shown around by a local who cares so much about the island.
I will definitely check out other tours provided for future trips.
Jason, our tour guide, was absolutely fantastic — knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely passionate about the island. He made the whole experience even more enjoyable with his insights and easygoing nature.
Highly recommend this trip to everyone — whether you're a family, a couple, or a solo traveller. You’ll come back with great memories and a big smile!
He was full of positive energy from start to finish and made everything so much fun. With our toddler, we spotted whales, wallabies, kangaroos, and even a sea eagle! The kayaking and lagoons were stunning, Such a special experience on Bribie Island – highly recommend!
5 stars ️️️️️
We learned much about wild life and history. We also enjoyed the nature scenery very much.
The right amount of information about the history, but not too much.
Pleasant relaxed, fun trip
Jason was absolutely amazing knowledgeable, approachable, and passionate about the island’s history and environment!
Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the area, which made the whole day even more enjoyable.
Jason was most informative, especially as Bribie Beach got battered in the recent storms.
Impressive stops at the Lagoons, lots of species of birds, roos & wallabies. Grey skies, windy but warm. Jason introduced us to a Volunteer at one of many Turtle sites, most informative. Quick pit stop at the loos, searching for more wildlife. Welcome stop for water and snack then onto the Forte. With more interesting tales of these important structures.
We're lucky enough to chat with more Turtle Volunteers, even privy to 3 being helped onto flats sands to ensure they managed to safely start their long and arduous trip in the ocean.
Jason was an excellent host, it was dusk when we left to drive back down the beach. Jason got us all back very safely to the car park. Our visitors from the UK, said they had a Fabulous time on the visit.
Would definitely recommend a trip either if a local or visitor.
Despite being a Bribie Local for 33 years there was so much I did not know about our Beautiful Bribie.
Jason is a wealth of knowledge and he delivers information in a way that makes learning fun. Bribie's part in WWII is incredible and worth seeing the remnants of the Forts/Signals/Gun buildings before they are forever swallowed into the sea.
Up to date figures on the Sea Turtle nests was fascinating and spotting local wildlife - Swamp Wallabies, Kangaroos, White Bellied Sea Eagles, Lace Monitors, Curlews, Pied Oyster Catchers and more so exciting, especially for my Canadian friends on this tour.
If there is one thing you should do when on Bribie - I strongly suggest this trip. Not something I like to do once, either, at least 4 times a year in each season to see the variety that Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter variations bring would be ideal.
Thanks Jason, LEGEND.
We saw Sea Eagles, wallabies, kangaroos, and a turtle nest. An amazing day out!
