Willie Cruises and its experienced crew offers people the opportunity to experience the blue waters of Broome in Australia’s northwest aboard ‘Willie’, one of the last operating pearl luggers in Australia. ‘Willie’, a 67’ Gaff Rig Schooner modelled on the designs of early 1900 pearl luggers was built to fish for mother of pearl shell Pinctada Maxima, the shell which put Broome on the map and shaped the history of the region as it is today.
Sailing the beautiful waters of Broome, ‘Willie’ allows you to see how a traditional gaff rigged sailing vessel operates with all sails heaved up manually just as our forefathers did, whilst taking in the beautiful sunset. With plenty of comfortable seating options aboard, anyone can enjoy the calm waters and natural beauty of the coastline surrounding Broome.
To make your cruise with us completely stress free we will pick you up in our courtesy bus from your location. Once there you will be able to kick off your shoes and feel the beautiful sand and wet your feet in the warm Indian Ocean as you make your way to our waiting tender which will transfer you to ‘Willie’.
You can completely relax hearing stories of the rich history and culture of the area, and enjoy the delightful complimentary canapes served by our crew and chilled beverages of your choice from our well stocked open deck bar. Our crew will happily point out the abundance of marine life from turtles, seas snakes, dolphins and the mighty humpback whale, to dugongs, manta rays and the plethora of pelagic fish – all in a day aboard Willie Cruises.

We motored out from cable beach and had the option to swim in the boom net.
Canapés were served and drinks were available to purchase onboard
The sails went up and as the sun went down we sipped on our drinks
sailing along cable beach and watched the sky give us a spectacular sunset.
Food was great, staff were friendly
Well organised tour,

Sunset was magnificent!
Just do it!!
The crew were all very friendly and helpful.
Food was delicious, great selection of wines and other drinks.
Highly recommend
We enjoyed the net swim, sunset and relaxed atmosphere.
The crew were great and the history of the Willie told by the Captain was interesting.
It was great being picked up and dropped off at our accomodation which allowed us to have a few drinks on board.

Generous snacks and great crew. Lots of space on the deck and the best trip for the sunset views.
Peaceful and fun. A real highlight.

There were no staff on hand to assist or guide us . This is a major occupational and health issue as they could have easily fallen within the assistance of at least 6 passengers lighting and guiding the way and others physically holding them up !

Seemed that the cruise was trying to be all things to all people. Big focus on drinking. You can do boom netting and drinking on any cruise in Broome, we thought we would get more information about the Willie, more opportunities to sail. I don't think we were the only ones from a few comments we overheard from others.

We will recommend Willie Pearl Lugger Cruises to everyone!
Waters in Roebuck Bay.
I can’t say how much we enjoyed the cruise.
Captain Cody, Brodie, Jimmy and the gorgeous young lady were very professional and nothing was too much trouble to ensure all on board were treated to a wonderful experience.
It will be an adventure to remember and I’m sure everyone on the cruise found that it exceeded their expectation.
It sure did for me.
Well done to the crew and Willie Lugger Cruises for making our visit to Broome such a memorable one.
