I recently had the absolute pleasure of going on the Catch a Crab and Fishes tour on the Gold Coast, and I can honestly say it was one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a long time!

From the moment we arrived at the tour's starting point, we were greeted by the friendly and knowledgeable staff. Their enthusiasm was contagious! They took time to explain everything about the tour, including safety procedures and what we could expect during our time on the water. It was evident that they were passionate about marine life and crabbing, which set a positive tone for the entire day.

The tour began with a scenic cruise through the beautiful waters of the Gold Coast. The views were stunning, with lush mangroves and wildlife all around us. I truly appreciated the opportunity to soak in the natural beauty while learning about the ecosystem. Our guide shared fascinating insights into the local wildlife, discussing the various species that inhabit the area and the importance of sustainable practices in fishing and crabbing.

Once we arrived at the crabbing grounds, the excitement was palpable! We were divided into small groups, each equipped with crab traps and all the necessary gear. To our delight, we managed to catch several large crabs, which felt like a huge achievement. The thrill of reeling in a big one was an experience I'll never forget!

Simply the Best ! Wonderful tour with just the right balance of educational information and fun experiences for children and adults alike. Family fun experience A fun family trip. Well paced with a variety of activities. The boys enjoyed fishing, pulling up crab pots and pumping for yabbies. Eating the crabs after was a delicious way to finish the trip. Strongly recommend the otters mornay - 10/10!

Great way to celebrate Dad’s birthday! Highly recommend this tour! I travelled to the GC with my parents and my two children (8 and almost 11). We all had the best fun! My parents were so impressed with the activities that were included as part of the tour and my kids had a blast. My youngest caught two fish which he was thrilled with! Pulling up the crabs in the cages was so exciting. Feeding the seagulls and catching yabbies and soldier crabs was a favourite for kids.

The tour experience was fantastic not just due to the activities, but also the staff on board. The skipper (David) was humorous and very knowledgeable. Yannika was so kind and caring towards us all, but provided such a nurturing approach to my children who she helped throughout all the activities.

We all had the best time and are so glad to have ended our Gold Coast holiday with this experience. Thanks to David, Yannika and Craig for making my dad’s birthday a memorable one!

Perfect Day for Crabbing This was our second time on this tour. Dave (Skipper) and Floyd (Deckhand) were awesome and made the tour so enjoyable. Dave was very knowledgeable and funny and made sure everyone participated from the very young to our father who was celebrating his 80th birthday. Next time we’re in Tweed Heads we will definitely do it again.

Amazing, Fantastic time. We had an amazing time, Dave, Andrew and staff were lovely and knowledgeable re oysters, crabs the sea birds. Was fun from the beginning feeding pelicans, pumping yabbies, fishing with some fish caught followed by a yummy lunch at the restaurant. Highly recommend.

One of the best cruise and catching a crab experience. one of the best tours in tweed heads with lots of activities including river cruise, fishing, catching a crab, feeding the fish, pumping etc. Overall a very good 2-3 hrs trip must do when visiting gold coast. Captian Dave and his brother's oyester food is very tasty.

Worth the visit. Managed to catch crab, yuppies and fish. Fed the pelicans, birds and fishes. End the tour with a seafood platter and fresh Sydney rock oysters. The timing is Queensland time 9:30am or New South Wales time 10:30am. We thought it was 9:30am NSW time and arrived 1 hour too early!

Fun place to do some activities and defintiely kids friendly. We were pulling out crab trap, bird feeding, catching yabbie, fishing (despite got none) and a bit of crab knowledge from the team. I would recommend you to purchase the lunch too. Especially if you enjoy crab. They serve you a freshly cooked seafood and I absolutely enjoy the delicacy.

Another note is, if you afraid of motion sickness, the boat is running on river that has no wave, I am a bit sensitive with motion, but felt nothing while I was on board.

Great tour for adult and kids I was unsure if the kids would have loved this but they really enjoyed it. It was a great way to keep the family entertained and learn about crabs, we all enjoyed it. The seafood lunch was also awesome, great atmosphere and really lovely people, everyone was nice, excellent service.

My second trip with Catch a Crab in a decade My first trip with Catch A Crab happened in 2013 with my father-in-law and mother-in-law. My father-in-law passed away few years ago, I joined the trip again in Nov 2024 and this trip bought back a lot of memories of him and the scene was just like it was happened in yesterday. Awesome experience Really interactive and plenty of activities that everyone of all ages can join in. The captain and his first mate were very knowledgeable and answer any questions we had. Also had a great sense of humour ????????

Family crab catching Had a visit with the family and one 9yr old child.
It was a great time for the young children.
If your an experienced fisher man or women, I wouldn't recommend.

Expect to see alot of people from different countries aboard. Which can be a great laugh. The crew were very funny and welcoming.

We started with a small cruise around and feeding the seagulls and one pelican who we are pretty sure ate one of the seagulls
Then pulled up some crab nets.
Pumping for yabbies was a really good laugh, and a bit of hard work. Expect to get a little muddy and wet.

Fishing is done on some cheap rods and only have enough line to drop down into crystal clear waters. A few of us onboard caught a few brim.

It's an adventure im glad I done with the family but it would only be a once off visit.

Great to bring kids. Must try. Kids will love it. Just be mindful of the NSW/QLD time difference when instructed to be there at a certain time. can get confusing!

Not ver worthy but it’s ok The tour is fine as we can catch the crab and fish but sadly not any crab can be eaten unless you pay more to stay after for a lunch with the affiliate restaurant. We book a table for a la carte menu but the service was not good. We won’t recommend it.

Excellent activity for family time and school holiday. Excellent tour for family. Dave the skipper was awesome and the rest of the crew were great and very friendly. I suggest bundle the tour with lunch option or tell the crew for additional lunch after tour since all the activities will bring up your appetite.

School holidays This school holidays My son and I was staying at Coolangatta for couple of days. I found catch a crab activity near by and went for it.. it was an amazing experience! We both thoroughly enjoys all the activities.. feeding birds, catching crabs, pumping out yabbies and fishing too! The trip was very engaging and educational about crabs and fishing rules of Queensland..
We do these sort of activities in other countries but never appreciate what we have here!
The lunch package was good.. to come out and get a feed straight away..
I would really recommend this activity even for couples to spend some quality time! It’s a team work!!

Terrible experience to catch a crab .. The most unhappy experience in my Gold Coast Tour ever!

We enrolled the Catch a Crab Tour for my parents and my kids . As my parents wanted a-la-carte menu of the Oyster Shed Restaurant we booked a table online well beforehand.

The tour was ok .

Back to the restaurant issue, we finished the tour and arrived in the restaurant around 12:45 with a booking. The staff were busy to serve the pre-booked seafood platter and we had to wait for more then 40 mins for the first dish to come! It’s onion rings ! My kids were starving so I asked if we can pay what we got and move on but they kept saying they have only one chef and was preparing ours so it was a NO !
The lady even blamed us that we should have pre-ordered the food online but I told them an hour wait was unacceptable!
At the end of my story, we ordered 4 dishes but only 3 dishes arrived after an hour wait 1:35pm.
From what we observed, other a la carte table got food earlier than us even we ordered earlier but still no apologies from any of their unfriendly bad mannered staff!!!!!
We, with elderly and children, left with furious feelings and half emptied stomach!!!!

The most terrible thing is that I have to request the reception lady ( with my poor mum) to get the ordered food in front of other dinners few times !

Very great experience. Catch a crab was very unique and special. Booking in advance is a must.

Main focus was to catch a crab. Pumping yabbis and oyster farm visit was depend on tide condition. This round we missed yabbies and oyster farm. But pulling the crab trap out of water and saw the crabs trapped inside the trap was eye opener. Listened to commentary about oyster, crab and fishing was interesting.

The only cons is the transport. Coming from gold coast surfers paradise must booking with uber about AUD60 per way for 40 minutes. But return trip was very challenging. No uber want to take us from this remote location. There was a bus station in the entrance road of catch a crab tour but the bus only operate one to 2 trip per day. End up We need to walk 1km to nearest bus stop and take a 601 bus to nearest city then take another bus 700 to broadbeach South station. The return trip took us 2 and a half hours include walking, waiting time, transit and bus duration.

Best itinerary for this trip. Learn a lot from the guide. Fishing, cratching crabs, yabbie pumping, bird feedings, etc.

Relaxed family fun The whole family really enjoyed the catch a crab cruise. It was a very relaxed vibe and the crew went out of their way to ensure our children had a great experience which we appreciate!

Unfortunately, our lunch booking coincided with a large Catch a Crab tour and lunch booking party, which was given priority catering wise, hence the poor service and delay in taking our meal orders. We were only informed of the meal delay some time after our group arrived, and just before the cruise boat with tourists returned from its cruise for their lunches. I did pass on to management that I wasn’t happy about them both taking my booking for that time in the first place and then not letting us know when we arrived of any delay. Apology for the lengthy wait was received, however, special occasion this lunch was booked for soured by the experience and having to apologise to the people I’d invited. Doesn’t bode well for a return visit. Advice is to double check when booking that it doesn’t clash with a tour booking that gets priority.

This might be the best trip of my journey. The whole trip was about two and a half hours. Each activity was very enjoyable, and the captain was very handsome and humorous, the assistant was stunningly beautiful. The only downside was that the fishing time was a bit short. Nevertheless, I highly recommend everyone to come here and enjoy an unforgettable and wonderful experience.

Catch a crab - tweed heads family Overall fun trip. Did a lot of different activities on the trip. Probably should have been aware that the crab you catch you could not keep.

Brilliant day out! I took my two grandchildren, boys aged 11 and 9 on this action packed cruise around Terranora Creek.
It was great fun as well as being very informative, and we learnt a lot about oysters, crabs and yabbies
With plenty of opportunity to join in, with many laughs and fun along the way. As well as pulling up the crab
Traps we fed some pelicans and did some fishing pulling in some bream and a flathead with great excitement!
All in all, a fabulous, fun and well organised day. Thoroughly recommend it for all age groups.

Lunch was served back on land at the restaurant. The seafood platter includes crab, fish and chips and salad. Fish and chips is as the name implies - fish and chips with salad. Free water is available. Free parking outside the compound is available if you are driving. We enjoyed ourselves and this is one experience we will not soon forget and would recommend this to anyone.

Interactive & very hands on tour Dave & crew were fantastic in delivering a tour that gets everyone to work for their lunch! We came for their Singaporean chilli crab & natural oysters & were very satisfied. Ordering ala carte instead of the tour+lunch combo turned out better for us because we got to choose what to eat. Truly grateful for the lovely time. I am recommending them to my friends & will definitely repeat the tour soon.

a perfect experience It was a very pleasant journey. The captain's professional explanation gave us a quick understanding of the project, and a little sister and grandfather were professionally responsible for protecting our logistics, which can be said to be a perfect experience! But I hope we can increase the time for scratching skin shrimp and fishing, because they are really interesting, or open some popular items separately and increase the time at a reasonable price. I believe many people will be interested in and involved in it, such as me.

AWESOME TOUR EXPERIENCE Great tour started out feeding pelicans, then onto pumping for yabbies, we all got to pull up crab traps and finally use our yabbies as live bait to go fishing! I caught a flathead and they put it on ice until it was time for me to leave! I would recommend this tour the crew were informative and the boat is clean and well equiped with clean water, soap bar, toilets and even towels to dry yourself.

Would be fair if we could have an options to keep the legal size one. And the Lunch package should be more than 1x claw + 1/4crab body +2 slices of fish + chips . $129 doesn’t worth

The Tour isn’t cheap, and lunch seafood plate ( 1big claw + 1/4 of crab body , 2 slices of fish and fries ) not really worth for $129,I think the Tour should have the options for travellers to buy or keep the legal ones , Or at least cook it with lunch package .
