Mega Fauna Swimming Participants – THIS TOUR IS FOR ‘GOOD SNORKELLERS ONLY’!
We Will Primarily Target One of the Big 3 Mega Fauna for this Tour.
If the weather conditions are suitable, or visibility is not too low, Humpback whales could be a possibility to swim with. We will also be looking for Whalesharks when Humpbacks are not suitable to swim with.
Being wild animals every day is unique and our focus is on Mega Fauna. The visibility conditions and animal behaviours, or numbers swimming thru, are not always just right enough to swim with humpback whales. Certain times we have Mothers with small calf’s, that are restricted to swim with. We don’t know until we get out there what will be accessible, how the whales behave or even if there are any, and even if there is a whaleshark in the same area.. What we do know is that we will have small groups, our plane and the best crew to get the best results possible on the day.
From June until October we are authorized to operate tours where guests may enter the water when the whales are relaxed, with a maximum group size of 7 swimmers plus a guide & Videographer in the water at the same time. While non-swimming guests observe the whales from the boat whilst manoeuvring as close as 75 meters! This is closer than any other whale watching cruise in Australia. This will give you a very special view for non-swimmers to enjoy the whales as they display their natural behaviours.
FREE Video & Pictures of the day Included. We will copy these onto one 8Gb souvenir USB for your booking. Pictures and Video will be available at our shop in the Mall next to the bakery, after 9am the following day. If you are leaving early we can post the USB at the nominal postage charge for your home location.
The swimmers, with the careful watch of their guide, will slide into the water and approach the Humpback Whale. We have strict distance guidelines and safety is paramount in these very special encounters. Swimmers can approach as close as 30 meters from the whale which will provide an excellent surface view of the animals and allow the swimmers to hear their beautiful songs. The whales are curious and are allowed to approach us within 15 metres giving us a unique close encounter. Our dedicated spotter plane pilot personally talks via radio, to the in-water guide to ensure a great interaction.
Before entering the water near a whale or whaleshark, swimmers will be required to take a morning quick in water swimming assessment as required by our license conditions. You must be physically fit, over 13years old, MUST be a good snorkeller and have snorkelled within the past 6 months to be eligible to enter the water with a whale.
We also include a come again at 1/2 priceGuarantee… If you don’t get to experience an in water interaction with a Whale, Whaleshark or Manta Ray, you get 50% off the ticket price of your next Whale swim tour.

Here are some details and outlines to ensure you will be able to participate safely and enjoy
your tour. Please circle your answers and add any details.
The MegaFauna tour will involve Snorkelling and swimming in open ocean.
You will be: –
1). Stepping down into & up out of the very small tenders at the finger jetty, and then clambering
onto the boat, which will be moving around independently of the small tender. It can be slippery
and quite a deep step.
2). There will be the Stress of getting into deep water at the back of the boat. The boat is Not
Anchored when whale sharking and can be in very choppy seas. For non-confident swimmers
this can be a bit daunting, jumping into deep water.
3). Physical exertion is required to swim/snorkel in choppy water to try and watch the
whaleshark swim past. Everyone will be exerting themselves beyond their normal levels and
this is where the strenuous activity will be exaggerated for guests with any heart or lung
conditions etc.
4). Physical exertion is required to climb out of the water onto a moving boat platform with a
small ladder. This will be the hardest part immediately after the swim. Everyone will be tired and
anxious to get out of the water, onto the back of the boat.
5). The whole procedure to swim with an animal is quite a timely event and there is a definite
sense of urgency to catch the megafauna, if you take too long to get in, it will have swum past
the group. The average fit person can keep up with a whale shark for about 2 minutes, before
tiring. The time, from getting into the water, to swim and then climbing back onto the boat, will
be about 5 to 7 minutes in duration.
6). We will repeat this several times, for each group. We allow some rest time of 5 to 10 minutes
in-between swims & the guests can always sit out a swim.
7). If you are a non-swimmer this IS NOT the tour for you! You will need to be comfortable in the water, as a personal assistant is not
always practical or immediately available in the water.
Your Snorkel Ability MUST be Confident
8). These animals are wild and unpredictable at times. The ocean can be hazardous and present any number of situations with rough water or fauna that is harmful.
Medical questions: –
1). Have you had problems with your lungs, breathing, heart and/or blood, affecting normal
physical or mental performance. No/ Yes Details………
2). Do you struggle to perform moderate exercise (for example, walk 1.0 kilometre/one mile in
14 minutes or swim 50 meters/yards without resting), OR have been unable to participate in a
normal physical activity due to fitness or health reasons. No/ Yes Details………
3). Have you lost consciousness, had migraine headaches, seizures, stroke, significant head
injury, or suffer from persistent neurologic injury or disease. No/ Yes Details………
4). Do you have back problems, hernia, ulcers, or diabetes, or other problems that affect your
ability to climb stairs and ladders at a reasonable pace. No/ Yes Details………
5). Are you taking any strong prescription medications. No/ Yes Details………
If you answered yes to any medical questions, a clearance for a strenuous snorkelling activity will
be required from your doctor.

We had flat seas, sparkling sunshine and a spectacular day out.
We were lucky enough to find a juvenile male Whale shark who was very cooperative, having 6 or 7 separate swims with him.
Asa the captain of Blue Strike did an incredible job both spotting and manoeuvring around the shark (& lots of other sea creatures), the dive guides Emma and Izzy were super friendly, but incredibly professional in the way they organised us in the water. Ricardo did a fantastic job getting us in and out safely (and educating us on the marine life we were seeing) and Alberts photography was outstanding.
We also got the opportunity to swim with Manta Rays who were just passing by, and while in the water with them, we were blessed with a couple of pods of Humpbacks just cruising by!!!
A truly special experience.
On the way back to the jetty, Asa found us a Dugong to watch, as well as a small tiger shark that our guides revelled in having a snorkel with.
Lunch was delicious and plentiful (as was morning tea!)
A fantastic day all round and I could not rate the staff more highly for their care, assistance and attention to safety details.
Thanks guys.
We recently booked a snorkel tour to the Muiron Islands with the expectation of seeing “gorgeous soft coral” and “ diversity of marine life”, quoted from the website. Unfortunately the site we were taken too was far from this.
The visibility was reasonably good however both snorkel sites we visited were more appropriate for diving rather than snorkelling. The seabed and “coral” (unsure if it was even coral as it was so far away) were around 10 meters below the surface which made it difficult to see anything when snorkelling, and even when duck diving. The “coral” looked dull and sparse with little marine life present- two fish. Even if the coral was closer to us it would still be disappointing as it was just brown. Our whole group asked to go in early at both snorkel sites as we were just treading water for no reason, with the boat far away from us.
Overall, we found the tour to be misleading and falsely advertised . If you enjoy snorkelling looking into the deep blue ocean with a view of a blurry brown rock, then this is for you !!! If you’re looking for, “gorgeous soft coral” and “diversity marine life” , I would highly recommend visiting Turquoise Bay instead. It’s free, easy to access from the shore, and offers an abundance of colourful coral, fish, turtles, and even stingrays just a short swim from the beach.
This was a disappointing and costly experience that I would not recommend for snorkellers, or anyone for that matter.
Attached are a few photos of what was seen throughout the snorkel, one of which I dove 5 meters down, showing how far the coral was. However there is not much point in uploading all the photos as they are just the same.
Snorkelling was also very well managed with the divers and I had a great time with my two snorkelling sessions.

Later when I came to the shop I got an option to dive some days later. I told them I had a flight and could not stay. Asked for some form of refund (at least a part). But the manager denied.

And the coral, oh the coral….
Do yourself a favour. If your a diver, make a pilgrimage up to Exmouth and go and see the Murion Islands.
The instructors were knowledgeable and patient, making sure that I understood all the necessary techniques before we entered the water. During the dive, they were attentive and supportive, guiding us through the beautiful underwater scenery. I felt safe and confident thanks to their expertise.
I highly recommend for anyone interested in scuba diving, whether you're a beginner like me or more experienced. I can't wait to dive again!
We can only agree with the previous ratings. We booked the whale shark experience. From the beginning, with advice and booking in the shop, to the end with the drop-off service, this experience was fantastic. We cannot emphasize enough how outstanding the entire team was.
Special thanks goes to Lynn, who helped me go from being basically terrified and just wanting to watch from the boat to actually snorkeling in the reef and swimming with the whale sharks. She took such good care of us and went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe in the water at all times!
We saw dolphins playing next to the boat, humpback whales and their calves doing acrobatics, and so many beautiful fish as well. The skipper ensured we had the best views of the animals. By the end of the tour on our ride to the bay, we had a super interesting and fun whaleshark lesson by Ricardo and could ask any questions about the animals and reef overall. The food was perfect and plenty! But as I said, EVERYBODY on the team was just 110% amazing. We are so thankful for this experience and will cherish it for the rest of our lives!

Tyler, the Skipper was fun and professional which made the days even more enjoyable & fun.
Sara W, my dive instructor was a great teacher. Adept at diving and able to pass on her knowledge in a fun environment whilst keeping her students safe. Providing her students with the skills to explore the ocean depths safely and all with a smile on her face.

5 Dives in 3 Days all very different.
The coral and marine life was amazing, exceeded all my expectations.
Whales, turtles, Manta rays, sea snakes, Wobigon, reef sharks and a bout any fish you can imagine, just awesome.
Mikey our instructor and Tiler the skipper, both were amazing, full of knowledge and information with plenty of humour and banter thrown in to top of the 2 days
Had a ball guys
Thankyou

Definitely recommand Exmouth diving center to do your padi !

And how lucky are we to have Exmouth Dive & Whaleshark Ningaloo to take us to the best places. Coral and animal life is in abundance and beautiful but weather dependant of course.
The staff are lovely, fun, knowledgable and passionate.
The locations were mind blowing.
We got to snorkle with the whalesharks and go to 2 different coral reefs and see a variety of fish life and coral colour.
Congratulations on providing this amazing service in such a remote place.

If you want awesome photos of yourself, guarneteed visibility and an all you can eat buffet, sugest you go to the gold coast, visit the aquarium and get heaps of self indulgent photos of yourself.
Nature doesn't follow your itinery and social media needs.

Well catered for with snacks and lunch and soft drinks (hot and cold) on tap.

I will add to above a traveller friend advised me (from speaking to a competitor operator who don’t go in Oct) that only 1 whale shark had been seen from all tours in October with 30 people trying to see them, how wrong he was and how glad I am, I listened to this tour group instead.
Also want to add the staff that worked on this boat were all excellent, they made the whole experience very enjoyable; the spotters helped to make it even more exciting, the photographer was arguably the number 1 ocean photographer in Exmouth & Michael had a great sense of humour, providing lots of advice on various other things we could do in Exmouth.
We are all very glad we did this tour, once in a lifetime and well worth it.

Yardena (Jordan) was our instructor and her kind heart and fun attitude made the three days of the course both extremely enjoyable and put all nerves at ease.
In our ocean dives, we saw reef sharks, mantarays, turtles, whales and so much more! Her adventurous spirit allowed our group to safely adventure the ocean whilst learning valuable skills.
Tyler was a fantastic skipper and went out of his way to ensure all of the passengers saw a range of sea life and were comfortable.
We cannot recommend Exmouth Dive again! Will be back!
Lauren

There was a big age range from children (7and 9) to late 60s as well as experience snorkeling. From very experienced to having snorkel only once before.
Some people choose to enjoy the trip and did not enter the water.
The snorkeling spots were great, so many different varieties of fish including sharks. Plus we saw turtles mating.
The best was the whale shark. We had 4 opportunities to see and swim with it.
Amazing animal. The staff were very helpful making sure you saw and could swim with it.
For this trip , you are driven to the site where the boat is anchored offshore and are transported by tender boat.
This is close to turquoise bay.
Can highly recommend.

I did my open water dive course with Exmouth Dive and Whale Shark, and it was one of the best things I have ever done.
The Crew were amazing, some of the friendliest people you will ever meet, with some unreal stories. The boat was a real pleasure to be aboard, the dives sights are truely spectacular, and the food was great and super welcome after the dives.
I would and will highly recommend this course and any of the others to my friends, family and anyone else who asks!
The course, the dives and time out on the boat was the absolute highlight of my two week holiday in the Pilbara.
A Huge thanks to:
Timmy. For being such a great instructor, always funny and always ready to answer questions. thanks mate!
Tyler. cheers for getting us to the amazing dives sights and safely back to shore. The laughs and conversations up in the fly bridge were very entertaining.
Ree. Thank you for sharing your vast amount of experience and tolerating my daft comments and questions.
To the rest of the crew, Thanks for everything it was wonderful!
I can't wait to dive with you all again.
Josh Kemp.

We’ve done this each time we visit Exmouth and can highly recommend the experience.

We met a couple the following day who had been out on a whale shark tour with another company the same day as us yet their plane had not been able to find a whale shark.

From booking the cruise to being dropped off at the end of the day we felt so safe in the hands of this most professional and efficient tour company. The skipper, Nick, diligently handled the boat, Heather drove our pick up bus as well as handling the photography and the snorkelling groups, Conner and the other crew members were equally friendly and helpful throughout our cruise. It was such a fun day with this young and enthusiastic crew. A most successful day was had with many whale shark sightings as well as humpback whales, manta rays, turtles and dolphins.
Everything about our day was absolutely wonderful and I would highly recommend this group to anybody wishing to swim with the whale sharks in this amazing part of the world. Thank you everyone.

Staff were so helpful but special mention goes to Ree who allowed my 10 year old to follow her. My daughter is a really competent swimmer but was so scared of what she might see she nearly didn't get into the water. She encouraged her, let her follow her along and my daughter had the most amazing day and is now really confident in the water. It was above and beyond what I would expect.
Thanks to for the staff for answering the 500 questions from my kids. They loved it an we loved you showing us the turtles, mantra ray and whales that floated past the boat.
So thankful we came out.
I also loved the we could explore a bit on our own but felt safe that help was nearby and your safety check meant I knew the kids (10-13)- felt safe and confident.
