Delta is a wonderful and welcoming host who generously shared traditions, the history and her knowledge of the sea, plants, wildlife and kinship with mother earth. Take the time to understand and appreciate the timeless importance of this place and its people. Take the advice to arrive early or get dropped off at the Pass café because parking spots are dear.

This is a "must do" activity for anyone living in or visiting Byron Bay. Delta is a courageous, very knowledgeable, friendly Arakwal Elder who shared the history of the area and some personal stories. We tasted delicious bush foods and learned about bush medicine. The cliff walk was spectacular and the whole tour left me feeling more connected. Highly recommended.

Delta answered all our questions and made everyone feel included. She was incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and engaging. We also learned about traditional Aboriginal medicine and food, and even got to try bush tucker at the end. This tour was definitively a highlight we won’t forget.

The Bangalow Bush Tour that we recently attended was outstanding. Beautiful and peaceful, our group of three learnt a great deal about the landscape, and its cultural significance to Arawak people. The stories and language that was shared was a privilege to hear.We also enjoyed a stunning feast of native plants and different teas. I had no idea how long it took to harvest these nuts and fruits from around the district. Given that it was only the three of us, we also deeply appreciated that the tour was not cancelled. It was fantastic. Thank you so much, Delta. I can't wait for your tour with the Wales!

My adult son and I went on Delta's tour to Broken Head - and both enjoyed it and felt so enriched by the experience. It's a privilege to have the time of an Arakwal woman (Elder - but she's not old!) like Delta - with such a wealth of Cultural knowledge about her own Country and the wider Bundjalung region, so passionate about sharing it and a great Storyteller. Everyone who lives or visits the area - of any age - would enjoy this lovely walk and Delta's company.

Delta’s tour was such a special and enlightening experience and we all feel so much richer for it. Delta is the embodiment of spirit, truth and kindness and learning about the First Nation history and hearing the stories from her was a soul nourishing experience. I believe everyone who comes to Bundjalung Nation would benefit from participating in one of her tours. Bugalbee Delta ❤️

Amazing!! Delta is a born storyteller and she shares her Aboriginal heritage with generosity and pride. Listening to her tell the stories of Country is educational, eye-opening, and sometimes heartbreaking.
I’ve taken part in two tours over a couple of years: one in Broken Head and one in Byron. It’s just mind-blowing how much knowledge there is that’s completely out of sight for us city dwellers - it’s fascinating! The tours end with a showcase of local native bush foods that you can taste, and it’s a whole experience on its own.
We will definitely book more tours with Delta in the future ❤️

Our walk on Country and introduction to Bundjalung Bush Tucker plants was inspiring! Delta was authentic, sincere, knowledgeable and a beautiful person. Her stories were real, her life experience was real, her history and knowledge were sound, and she made each of us feel welcome. The walk and exploration of the regenerating rainforest evoked a sense of tranquility and peace, and the discussions and chance to try some bush tucker were amazing. What a beautiful way to start/spend my morning!

This tour was absolutely incredible! Delta shared her deep wisdom, stories, and culture in such a beautiful and heartfelt way. Being surrounded by so much natural beauty, I found myself seeing the land through a completely new lens—one of awareness, connection, and respect. This experience truly transformed the way I pause, observe, and appreciate nature.
Delta’s teachings reminded me of the importance of honouring and caring for the land, knowing that in return, it will care for us. So much ancient wisdom is waiting to be remembered, and this journey was a powerful reminder of that. If you have the chance to experience this tour, take it—you will walk away enriched, inspired, and deeply moved.

This is a brilliant cultural tour and great for all ages. Delta takes the groups on a short walking tour as she explains local Aboriginal yarns and the local history. She is a local herself and has deep cultural background. The tour finishes with a spectacular bush tucker tasting, along with a wonderful explanation of Aboriginal healing plants. This is a tour not to be missed.

Such an amazing experience with Delta! Best experience we had during our Byron trip.
So insightful and powerful. Beyond the stories she told, we were also able to see koalas and understand more about the nature that surrounds us.
She also sells some great salts and oils for cooking. 10/10!
Thank you Delta! I'll definitely be back with more international guests, must-do experience.

This tour is a must do in Byron Bay. We did the Banglow Bush Tour and enjoyed every minute of it. Delta May is an incredible story teller and made the tour very engaging from start to finish. She shared with us the various plants used by the Bundjalung people for food and medicine. We even got to try to finger limes, berries and other plant leaves. At the end of the tour we got a beautiful cup of tea made from the local leaves found along the creek. I would highly recommend this tour if you’re visiting Byron.

With information passed on to her from her mother, Delta is extremely knowledgeable about the aboriginal history of the area.
Throughout the 90 minute tour, Delta shares aboriginal stories as well as teaches you about local bush tucker, natural medicine and more. We even got to try a few bush tucker foods at the end of the tour.
Delta is so friendly and easy to understand, she is a fabulous storyteller - we just loved listening to all she had to say.
We highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Byron Bay and would love to see more tours like this one in more places across Australia.
Well done Delta.

This is our 3rd experience with Delta and ExploreByronBay and like the others was an unforgettable experience.
This was the Bundjalung Culture & Dining Experience With Delta Kay and Mindy Woods! This was the ultimate feast we were privileged to dine on the most delicious food in fact it was the flora and fauna that nourished the Aboriginal peoples for over 50,000 years. The tour started at Cape Byron Distillery, the home of Brookies Gin and we were honoured to walk through what was over 30 years ago a dairy farm now restored as a rainforest with the owners themselves Pam and Martin Brook.
During the tour Delta educated us on the plants and showed us the bush tucker growing.
After the tour we got to taste all the bush tucker and learnt even more about it.
Mindy Woods then served us up a culinary delight including betel lead with Mac crumb, native ginger and green chili as the first of the 4 courses consisting of 9 dishes. This was followed by Black kingfish tart, anise myrtle and Mac cream and topped amongst 3 other mains by Kangaroo native rendang curry with crispy saltbush.
These were my highlight dishes of the 9 served but all of them were equally as mindblowingly delicious.
This was a fabulous collaboration and I cannot recommend this tour enough to anyone who enjoys food.
I also would like to acknowledge the amazing Cape Byron Distillery for its incredible hospitality, location, owners and of course the fabulous gin.

Im from UK and it’s been 20+ years since I learnt anything about Australia and could only remember Dreamtime stories vaguely. The guide started off really strong and gave a warm aboriginal welcome, we had stories true and Dreamtime and even bush tucker at the end which was a treat. I would have liked to hear more from her describing life as it would be 100s of years ago and about what steps she thinks can help aboriginals in Australia going forward. Very knowledgeable and glad I did it.
I was with a baby and a three year old, she engaged him which was great even if he did get distracted at times the walk was very doable for him.
I think the price point is important as these tours give a chance to open the eyes of those who can vote for what matters in the future. (For anyone listening I reckon for every 15 acres owned a (once inexhaustible) red ceder needs to be planted and cultivated in an effort towards matching historical flora, also the lighthouse needs a redesign as it is on top of a important site - I get the lighthouse won’t be completely moved now but if lifted three metres off the ground with a domed centre (which would be painted with a constellation of stars, pillars supporting it which are open at the top to view through (and aesthetically pleasing) so the sacred ground can be reached at sat upon and the old times remembered, while still having the lighthouse)
