The highlights of the scenic flight include Hill Inlet, and Heart Reef, with all passengers getting an opportunity to view these iconic locations from their own window seat. The Reef from above is a really unique experience, as you really can’t see the same patterns and colours if you visit the reef by boat. Hill Inlet is definitely better to see from the air as well; the higher vantage point gives you a far better view of the swirling sands than you can see at ground level. All passengers get a window seat, and commentary is provided by the pilot during the flight.
Your cruise will take you to the Whitsunday Islands, where you can encounter wildlife and marine life. The boat travels directly to the famous Whitehaven Beach, which takes approximately 90 minutes. At Whitehaven, you can simply enjoy the beach, or other activities such as:
- Self guided walk to the Southern Whitehaven lookout. Approximately 45 mins.
- Stand up paddle-boarding. Provided free of charge with your tour.
- Buffet lunch (included with all Fly/Cruise packages).
- Snorkelling, which is an optional extra for $29pp. You will travel by boat to a nearby island, and snorkel along the fringing reef. All instructions and equipment is provided, including stinger suits.
- Hill Inlet Bushwalks – an easy walk on mostly timber boardwalk to the top of the lookout over seeing the swirling sands of Whitehaven Beach for an extra $29pp.
Drinks are available to purchase on board, and complimentary afternoon tea is served on the voyage back to Port of Airlie.
Booking the Fly & Cruise package, allows you to save approximately $30 off the regular price. The two different experiences are very complementary, giving you an amazing view from above, and taking you to Whitehaven Beach!
The scenic flight includes complimentary bus transfers to/from the airport. The cruise departs from Port of Airlie Marina, and is only a 10-15 min walk from most hotels, and the main street in Airlie Beach. Guests will make their own way to check-in at Rufus & Co Cafe, which we highly recommend for breakfast or coffee prior to departure!
