We have been coming to Fitzroy for years - sadly the service is getting worse. The flyer needed maintenance- fine - and they sent 3 emails and 2 texts Friday night to reschedule us to 1pm. Also fine. We arrived into the city and parked and trudged over to be told they had moved us to 3pm. I asked why they hadn't called me, as now we have lost a big chunk of our holiday and had to wait another 2 hours in the city because they hadn't called me. The 'manager' said she apologies that her efforts hadnt met my expectations. I had to stop her at her choice of words and say, you didn't make any effort. A phone call would have sufficed. She finally agreed as their error, to refund our transfers, only to be told when I arrived on the island, they would refund only half as they thoight that generous enough. Again, not agreed upon and completely cluster-cussed our day.
Next time we will come for the day, on another provider.

Save yourself some money....go for a day trip. So disappointed with the rooms and service. Food is absolutely horrible, breakfast is laid out the night before while you're still finishing your dinner in the restaurant.....the restaurant says air-conditioned.... it's not...the doors are wide open and it's very hot and humid. Foxys bar is the only option for food on the island apart from the restaurant and it's woeful. The general store is shocking and run down so expect no snacks from there. The pool bar closes at 4pm. No food or snacks are served at the bar. The pool is missing tiles on the bottom of it.

The rooms are so run down and full of mould. Tiles are cracked, door trims are rotted away. The hotel towles were full of holes and paint. Great location but that's it.

What an amazing place to visit we stayed for 3 night in a welcome bay suite. The staff were very friendly and approachable and happy to help in any way they could. The resort it self was fantastic but a minor repairs needed but nothing major. the food at foxys and zephers restaurant is great. Noting can beat the natural beauty of Fitzroy Island and its amazing sea life

We came from the Gold Coast and the hotel completely exceeded our expectations. The food in the restaurant was delicious, and the breakfast had many options to choose from. The service and cleanliness at the hotel were incredible. The whole island is like a dream; our stay on the island was fabulous.

Fitzroy Island Resort We are locals. Came for a night away but were disappointed. Resort is tired and in need of some TLC. Facilities (coffee, buffet breakfast, no pool table, pool bar closes early) are poor. Place is overpriced. Staff are friendly and we did a lovely walk to the lighthouse. The island is pretty. If you get the weather there is great snorkeling. I would recommend a day trip rather than overnight.

The restort definitely needs some TLC, I can imagine it 20 years ago and it would have been awesome. Games room sign is still up but no longer is accessible to the public, this is the same with so many rooms as they just seem like storage. In the room theres no microwave, any kitchenware or even a dam bin, staying here for more than one night absolutely suck. The room is very small but fine, bathroom looks quite fancy but definitely weird, there's two toilet roll holders. Plus there's no kitchenet but a full clothes line and ironing board. They want you to just buy on the island the whole time but the restaurants are l extremely expensive. The island itself could have more to do, even the staff seem really bored. How much longer will it last before it just becomes abandoned? Definitely would not be staying here again nor recommending to anyone.

wow where do i even start. fitzroy island was a life changing experience that i will hold close to my heart for the rest of my life. from the minute i came on board the ferry i was welcomed by friendly staff (and forced to do a push up for sunscreen) and a great ride to the island itself.

the island was breath taking - the reef full of corals, turtles, sharks, rays and many beautiful fish. the insane summit and lighthouse walk that showed me views that left me speechless. the resort itself with its cute bar, restaurant, dive centre, pool and my personal favourite place: the jetty.

the experiences i was able to have at fitzroy were absolutely unique and astonishing. the snorkel tours taken by a range of funny and educated staff members (shoutouts to josh, hannah, eddy), the dive centre crew itself sarah & letty and an awesome glass bottom boat driven by the remarkable violet who also lead a wonderful sunset boat tour that although was in the pouring rain, was still as beautiful and refreshing as ever. i was also lucky enough to be able to do the marine conservation program for the day on the island and it was insane - physiotherapy on a turtle, surveying the reef and a snorkel with intelligent josh!

the food was absolutely delectable and the customer service in all the bars (shoutout to ben from the pool bar - watch out he will squirt you with his big water gun) and the restaurant was magnificent, shoutout to the beautiful kyah who made every breakfast a fun one :)

thank you to the marine crew on the ferry who made all the boat rides fun, and allowed me to be distracted from my awful boat sickness. shoutouts to jake, ryan, darren and most of all kamoa, who went above and beyond to make sure i had one of the best trips ever.

and i want to thank the flora and fauna itself - thank you for giving me an amazing two week trip and sharing yourself with me. to swim with a manta ray in summer, to float face to face with a pufferfish, to swim beside a turtle, to sit on a tree and watch the sunset, to climb a rock to read upon are all blessings and i’m lucky i got to experience them on fitzroy island.

Positives - FISH (Fitzroy Island Sports Hub) offered excellent experiences
Some of the staff (not all) were very friendly and helpful
The Zephyr restaurant had excellent food and service. The Foxy Bar food was good (although not much variety after 7 days). The breakfast food was also good.
Negatives - General maintenance is not up to scratch, both in the rooms and across the resort. The common areas remained messy and unclean with many places in disrepair. The walkways had loose decking, the pool bar was left with dirty glasses for 2 or 3 days, and the area surrounding was left dirty (only one morning did it look like someone had cleaned the floors). Our room was only serviced once in 7 days. The bathroom had cracked tiles, water pressure was very low, doors and drawers were misaligned, towels were dirt stained and the air con was faulty.
Customer service was not great. After arriving at 1230ish, we were unable to check in until 330pm- the reception staff didn't really show any concern and seemed irritated when we asked for pool towels so we could swim.
It was evident some of the staff were just trying to get through the day and not too concerned about the guests.
One night at Foxy Bar we went to order cocktails at 8pm but were told they had finished making cocktails. The FISH staff were probably the best but very understaffed so were a bit short and rushed when dealing with guests.
Overall these things in isolation might be minor but adding them all up resulted in a not-so-great experience as a guest and not what you'd expect from a 4-star resort.
All this aside, the island itself is definitely worth a visit.

I stayed for one night in the island suite room $400 per night clean but there were no coffee capsules even though there was a machine. I noticed that there is no longer any cleaning in the resort, the pool is deteriorating, the toilets near the reception are very dirty without soap and the trash cans are full. I did not see anyone cleaning the resort. The scenery is beautiful but it is also dirty at Foxy restaurant.

Lovely day out on Beautiful Fitzroy island Did the half day tour leaving Cairns at 1045 and returning 3pm.Fitzroy island is beautiful and pristine,there’s lots of little walks you can do and there is a turtle conservatory.Nudie beach(it’s not a nudist beach)was divine,enjoyed a swim in crystal clear water.Lots of people were snorkeling which looked fun.Our glass bottom boat tour was cancelled due to poor conditions but they took us for a 30min boat trip around the island which was nice.I would have loved to had longer on the island but we were catching a late afternoon flight back home and this trip fitted our schedule well.A very big thank youto the wonderful staff who were so kind and helpful to my Mum who is nearly 90,even helping me get her off the glass bottom boat and up the sand.We really appreciated it.A very enjoyable day.Thank you

Great afternoon at Nudey Beach We took the last ferry of the day at 1:30, I would recommend to take an earlier one. 40 minutes there and back back eat up slot of time. The last ferry leaves at 5 so you don’t get a lot of time to explore. I highly recommend making the trek through the rocky trail to Nudey Beach. It’s beautiful trail through the forest. The ferry itself it’s nothing fancy but the staff was very polite and friendly.

Poorly managed beautiful island. The upper deck seats were wet and when i asked for a towel to wipe the female crew member slammed the door on my face. the island bathrooms were smelly and unclean. the cafe did not have proper food at 8 am the shop did not have insect repellent every where wet and dead leaves debris. Great location and amazing views. We stayed here as part of our visit to Australia. We took a ferry to get to the resort. It definetly has amazing views. They have activities like snorkeling, turtle talks and a couple of others but not a whole lot. They do not have any teen activities like pool tables or ping pong tables. The pool is a decent size. The pool bar stops serving drinks at 4:00pm or 4:30 pm … like what ????? Because folks literally get to the pool at like 3 or 4pm after being at the beach … so that was a bummer. They have beautiful beach spots .. do try the nudey beach it’s an amazing view .. has nothing to do with nudes .. quite safe for kids and families. The resort also has two a great hike to the summit and light house and also to the secret garden.
The rooms are big and comfortable. Most of the suites have stoves, ovens, fridges and cutlery. But the rooms have not been taken care of broken titles, wear and tear on the cabinets.. broken decor. It would have been a better experince without these issues.
Also they have only 2 restaurants on the premises and both of them are not great. Zephyr is fancy dining and expensive. Foxy is causal but food is not that great.
Overall I would still come again but I would plan differently. Possibly done more off the island an activities and possible got my own food options.

Also we have stayed at many resorts I would rate the service and hospitality of this resort possibly the lowest. The staff are just not happy and joyful and don’t really make you feel happy to be there. They are flat toned and very much yes/no/ok kind of personalities
We had mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary but there was no wishes or special anything as a service!

Huge shoutout to the staff at the resort and ferry for helping me after I was stung my an irukandji jellyfish on Christmas day. It was a scary and excruciating experience, but the knowledge and professionalism shown by the staff helped me to get through it. The island was also a great place and we got to see so many fish when swimming at the beach. Food at the bar/restaurant were also tasty and worth the money.

Definitely would recommend people to visit and enjoy the island, but would advise to accept the stinger suit when hiring their snorkelling equipment.

The only reason I gave it one star is because of the woman with the nose ring in the swimsuit rental shop. She acted superior, treating all customers like slaves, which disgusted me. She claimed to be a resort employee (I would have raised my score if she wasn't). While the other staff were all nice, she was a complete rotten apple and dragged down the entire resort.

FI Ferry Transfers My review is specifically on the ferry transfers that we booked.

It was quick and easy and the convenience of the services made it suitable for our last minute decision to visit the island for the day.

Easy onboarding, airconditioned and a pleasant journey getting over.

I'd say they could improve on the return journeys (especially last service) and have allocated seating to make more comfortable.

The inside of the ferrys could be updated to be more modern and look more upkept.

Shabby resort, pretty island Whilst the island itself is very pretty and not too far from Cairns by ferry, it’s very run down. The resort is dated and shabby and provides little in the way of modernity and luxury. The decor is very dated and shabby. The upholstery on the seating areas is positively filthy and the toilets smell strongly of urine. We only we only stayed one day but I’d be extremely disappointed if I had been staying here longer. By contrast, I stayed on Green island resort many years ago and it was superb. The resort here in Fitzroy was barely even clean.

Disappointed The island is beautiful. We are a family of 4 from FNQ who waited all year for our holiday. We are very disappointed with the resort. We are currently staying for 5 nights in a bungalow. The door barely shuts, the kitchen is falling apart, we had to ask 3 times for a blanket (and then had to go to receptionto at night to get one because they never came), the air con is leaking on our bed, we had to ask for the bbq that we paid for, the van kept breaking down so it was a hassle to get our bags to our room, there are only utensils for 3 people, and the hot water runs out very quickly.
The resort is super run down. Staff are very reluctant to help and after some rain in the middle of wet season, the pool side bar is not open even though it is under cover, and even when it is open it shuts at 4pm. It is the only bar in the resortfir guests only, other than foxys where day trippers flock. The website asks people to bring water bottles to refil, but foxys is the only point where you can. There are no activities for kids run by the resort despite the website advertising kids club/activities. Whe we asked if there were any activities as per the website, staff laughed and basically told us good luck. The general store has nothing worth buying and what is there is outrageously priced. We still have 2 nights on the island and are very unhappy with our stay.

Great locals stay It was a great weekend to come and unwind and use tge locals rate on offer. We will be back in the new year with family

A very pleasant mini-holiday on Fitzroy Island We had an exceptionally pleasant stay on Fitzroy Island with a beautiful and clean room, delicious food at Zephy Restaurant and at Foxy's Bar, great walks and swims. The snorkelling tour was lovely, and the staff throughout the resort simply outstanding. Thank you.

Amazing place to stay This is a fantastic place to stay for a tropical getaway. The staff are attentive and knowledgeable about all areas of the resort. The food at both dining outlets is excellent. The public areas and our room were above standard in cleanliness—staying in a beachfront cabin is a must, as it offers a beautiful room with stunning views. The boat transfers were easy, and the scenery was amazing. We enjoyed our second private dinner, and the food was delicious. Olivia provided outstanding service; her knowledge and personality make her perfect for a customer service role.

Do not come to Cairns without a stay at Fitzroy Island Resort (Eco Accredited), well worth the money for staying around a 7th wonder of the world!

Great Island Experience close to Cairns Great snorkelling and beautiful walks up to a lookout that takes in the amazing surrounding islands and the Great Barrier Reef.

A fine stay Friendly staff and easy check in process, spacious rooms, and great location. But the beds weren’t the comfiest, the pool needed a clean, the swim up bar closed very early, and there was a weird stench wafting through the resort every now and then. The price was quite reasonable though. Overall it was a fine stay.

3 night stay Very pleased with the resort. Seemless interaction between activities, restaurants, front desk. Zephyrs restaurant is simply outstanding, very good service and amazing food. The Island suite was better than expected with full cooking facilities.

Great location, not far from Cairns but room for improvement. This was our first holiday to an island resort. We really enjoyed the walks and bushy surroundings and the view from the lighthouse and summit was worth it. Staff were pleasant. The buildings themselves at the resort have a bit of a run-down feeling though. Room was ok however bed was terrible, could feel the springs poking through the mattress. Food at Foxys Cafe was average and overpriced considering the quality. following 1 and a half days of noisy construction works we couldn't wait to leave and ended up departing on an earlier ferry than originally planned.

great walking and beach exploring - lots of photo opportunities. If walking to the summit, take water, wear a hat and sunscreen and if you find a stick, pick it up, just in case you see a snake part way through and it scares you the rest of the walk - haha
small outdoor pool nice but it isn't heated so be mindful if visiting in winter.
I found alcohol and food a bit expensive for what it is-though I know logistics of goods delivery to the island are a consideration.
Wifi wasn't the best so bring a book, a pack of cards and hit pause on life!
If you have an opportunity to do the turtle tour while you're there-don't miss it as you get close to the turtles they're breeding.
A lovely relaxing island stay that feels further away than it is! Nice for couples, families and singles wanting to relax in nature.
Tips-bring snacks and alcohol and a nice beach chair to enjoy down at the beach.

Fitzroy Island is an absolute hidden gem, which I am glad I found. I had such an amazing time and was blown away by how friendly and cheerful every staff member was. However, It can’t be easy operating a hotel on a remote island and national park. I saw a few bad reviews which I think people need to be a bit more realistic around the value for money and the environment there visiting. It’s awesome to see your investing in renovating and keeping the treasure running :) I hope to be back again soon. Make sure to shout out to your amazing staff especially the Canadian lady at the bar :)

Bathroom had not been cleaned Whilst the location and value was great, the bathroom of our room had clearly not been cleaned as there were a variety of obvious stains in the toilet as well as a shower with other guests’ hair stuck to the walls. It is unfortunate that the bathroom (arguably the most important room to be properly cleaned) had been ignored since the previous guests had left. The rest of our trip was enjoyable, however the poor attempt at cleaning the room brought down the stay.

Fun family day out! We booked the morning session and it was perfect. Not too hot and not too chilly! Ferry itself was pretty relaxed and not super lengthy. The island was breathtaking! Beautiful walks/hikes & beaches! Definitely recommend :)

This place could be so amazing! We stayed at Fitzroy Island Resort as a small group to celebrate a birthday and had three separate bookings. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay and can see the resort has amazing potential, but a few improvements would make a big difference to the guest experience.

Foxys Bar & Café has a great island vibe, but the service system needs attention. Long lines could be avoided with QR code ordering, and the current process of calling out numbers over a muffled microphone was confusing. Table buzzers didn’t work, so handing them out felt pointless. A separate line for food and drinks would improve flow, and simple additions like vanilla and chocolate milkshakes would be great for families.

Zephyr Restaurant had lovely staff and dinner service was warm and professional, but the eye fillet was overpriced for what was served—just a piece of meat with no sides. The breakfast buffet offered a great variety of food and we were impressed with the quality and freshness. However, the layout made it difficult to move around, there was nowhere to rest a plate while serving, and the coffee situation really let it down. The coffee machine constantly malfunctioned and the queue was so long that we missed out on coffee altogether. Salt and pepper were not available on tables, which should be standard. A barista coffee option and a better layout would greatly improve the experience.

Reception was unfortunately the weakest part of our stay. The desk area looked dusty and neglected, and there were fingerprints and grime around the sliding staff entry door. First impressions matter, and reception needs to be cleaner and better presented to reflect resort standards.

We also requested to have our rooms close together as we were travelling for a birthday, but we were placed in rooms far apart (225, 124 and 218). We understand availability plays a part, but it would have been appreciated if the request had been acknowledged. The beds in all rooms were also extremely firm and uncomfortable, and mattress toppers would be a simple fix for guest comfort.

On the positive side, the snorkel gear was excellent—far better quality than other reef operators we’ve used—and the dinner team at Zephyr were standout staff. Foxys staff were also friendly and worked well under pressure.

We did enjoy our time on Fitzroy Island and would return, but we hope management takes these suggestions on board. With a few small changes, this resort could go from good to truly fantastic.

Needs a big clean up! Came for a birthday celebration and was disappointed that so many overseas holiday makers would have such a poor view of Australia and Queensland. The place was very run down and island was full of rubbish, derelict buildings, loads of asbestos, lots of missing tiles in pools and discarded building materials. The location is excellent and I guess people will come because of that so they don't try to make it world class. Staff were very young and cheerful but sadly in need of guidance, organisation and better training. Literally forgot our meals at the Zephyr restaurant They say 24hr reception but they nick off to party when they can. Check-in is on line technically but you still have to go through the whole process again and wait in line for ages to get a key as everyone arrives at the same time and only two team members serve the long line.

Run down and tired Bar called last drinks at 8.30pm (even though states open 'until late'). At 9pm the lights were turned off due to short staff and we were told they would call the manager if we didn't leave. From check in to check out, there was no effort of majority of staff to make an expensive overnight island stay an 'experience'. As a born and bred local who has been to the island more times than I can count with visitors etc, the facilities just keep being run down, with no obvious effort to improve. So disappointed in this island beauty.

Beautiful island, terrible resort The boat broke down, staff are rude, our room wasn’t ready to check into at 3pm which is already ridiculously late considering check out is by 10am. Fridge wasn’t cold and the resort is run down and needs a lot of renovations done. Buffet is disgusting and 1 star motel quality. Foxy’s very overpriced and staff really don’t want to be there. Overall it has so much potential but so disappointing.

A Disappointing Experience That Did Not Meet Expectations I recently stayed at Fitzroy Island Resort with the intention of supporting a local business and enjoying a relaxing holiday. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing across multiple areas.

On arrival, I encountered an unannounced 15% Sunday surcharge, which was not communicated beforehand and set a poor tone regarding transparency. Despite completing the online check-in process as advised, I was informed it had no effect and was required to queue as normal — undermining the purpose of digital check-in.

My room was not ready until after 5:00 PM, despite being told it would be ready by 3:00 PM. When I was first given access, the room had not been serviced and was in an unacceptable state. Additionally, I was surprised to find that no coffee or refreshments were available to guests until 5:30 PM, and there were no alternative amenities offered.

Cleanliness around the resort was substandard, with used dishes left overnight in public areas and poorly maintained grounds. Dining at Foxy’s Bar was also underwhelming, with basic meals, subpar presentation, and another surcharge applied. The early closure of the resort bar and lack of guest-focused planning further detracted from the experience.

Most disappointing was the attitude of several staff members, who appeared disinterested and unhelpful. Requests were frequently met with "No, sorry" and little effort was made to provide alternatives or resolve issues.

Regrettably, I cannot recommend Fitzroy Island Resort based on this experience. The operational and service shortcomings overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable stay.

Grumpy staff Some of the staff were pretty rude nd grumpy considering theyre working in such a beautiful place. The island was lovely however time for a serious upgrade and clean up of the boats and resort.

Poor customer service . For a 4 and half star resort , we had a very disappointed 40th and 21st birthday celebrations.
We would not recommend this resort , the customer service and low empathy was the worse we have experienced in a birthday holiday.

The snorkelling right off the beach is unbeatable—just steps from your room, you'll encounter turtles, octopuses, stingrays, and a colourful array of fish amidst stunning coral formations. And there's nothing quite like sipping your morning coffee with your toes in the sand, watching the world unfold before you. Fitzroy Island is an experience you cannot miss!

Island paradise Relaxing vibes and a top class diner make this island an absolutely magical place to unwind. Spend a few days and enjoy the marine and bird life. We hiked to the summit and were blown away at the vistas from the top.

Tired resort in a stunning location Resort is looking quite tired but location is stunning and makes up for what the resort lacks. Cracked tiles in my room and around the resort. Water pressure and temperature in my room was severely lacking. Staff in the resort, restaurant and Foxy's Bar were all wonderful and helpful. I chose to return to Fitzroy on this trip knowing the resort itself was tired simply because of the island itself. It is a stunning beach with plenty of sea life to be seen.

Pacific Island paradise just off the coast of Cairns What an amazing destination and holiday, we spent everyday for a week swimming with turtles and fish on some colorful reef. The island is an hour by ferry from Cairns all organised by the resort, an easy trip both ways well handled by the crew. The resort is beautiful and considering its location is well maintained. We stayed in an island suite which was spacious and comfortable. The selection of food and drink was great, prices are in line with the mainland which considering you are on an island and everything has to be delivered by ferry is a pleasant surprise. Anyone reading this and considering visiting just do it but remember reef shoes and sunscreen are a must, this is a coral island not soft white sand and the sun will burn you to crisp even on a cloudy day.

The location is outstanding. There’s a dive shop to rent snorkel gear and we had a great time on our own. We also went for the safari and saw a huge turtle and some massive corals. The rooms are a bit old but comfortable. The restaurants have great views but food options can be better, especially vegan and vegetarian options.

DONT bother! Mother nature is the only thing worth visiting on Fitzroy. The resort was old, mouldy on ceiling and grout in bathrooms, falling apart ( holes in curtains, towel rails falling off, smashed light fittings) marks all over walls, tiles and soap scum through bathroom, leaking balcony roof that had rusted through, guests smoking on room balconies and a general health hazard due to lack of maintenance and care.

The best !!!! Always love coming and staying on Fitzroy island!!!! 🙂☀️ perfect with friends or family! Would highly recommend coming to visit 👌

Well, let me start by saying the island itself is incredible. Beautiful beaches, clear blue water, turtles, coral, fish galore. Lovely even on a cloudy day!
Anyone visiting even for the day should be advised to bring reef shoes to walk along the beach as the main beach has more coral than sand!
Now, the resort itself, for the price you pay you definitely expect a better level of cleanliness and maintenance in the rooms. So many things falling apart, broken floor tiles, loose door handles, mouldy ceilings, cracked door frames, the list goes on!
Food options are so, so limited, especially for kids and anyone vegetarian, vegan, gluten free etc. There’s either Foxy’s which honestly isn’t the nicest (equivalent of a basic pub meal) and then there’s Zephyr’s which is quite fancy and not overly suitable for children. The only vegetarian option is Gnocchi for the adults and Mac and Cheese for the kids. That’s it. Over at Foxy’s for vegetarian kids the only option is hot chips. The general store is super limited and doesn’t even sell bread anymore to be able to make a sandwich in your room.
If you have any form of a dietary requirement, you’re better off stocking up a suitcase with food in Cairns and doing your own thing in your room.
For these reasons we probably wouldn’t come back for more than a day trip. Disappointing when paying $700 a night. It’s a shame because there’s so much that could be done to turn the resort into something fantastic.

Relaxing stay We loved our stay at Fitzroy Island Resort. The resort itself is dated but the location is unbeatable. The service is friendly. We had a very comfortable stay

Beautiful spot, lovely staff The cheapest rooms are quite ok but lack a view. You can walk a few paces to an awesome view so it doesn't really matter!

Tropical paradise, with a little rough around the edges. Fantastic little tropical paradise, snorkeling at its best..got to swim with turtles and stingrays. Lovely food, room a little dull and dark but at the back of the hotel. Would recommend.

Family Wedding We were guests at a family wedding, this was an ideal location, our room was beautiful, the food amazing and the staff very accommodating.

Aside from the amazing facilities, and the stunning nature this island has to offer, the customer service of the resort staff is top tier. I recently stayed, and quite annoyingly left my shoes in my room. The staff very helpfully were able to get the shoes on a boat back to cairns, and on top of that found somewhere for them to be kept as I wasn’t able to pick them up directly from the boat. To be honest, I thought this would be too much to ask, given I only had a day to work with, however they managed to get it done for me!

Exceeded expectations Weather was brilliant, views were sensational and beaches were fantastic. Snorkelling was better than 3 Low Isle trips we have done from Port Douglas- fish were beautiful and turtles could be found every morning! Water was warm and clear. Nature at her best!

A Hidden Gem! We had a faultless experience at the Fitzroy Island Resort. The Island Suite was much larger than we expected - with stunning views. The island was breathtaking - the snorkeling is very good. We were lucky enough to encounter a turtle just in front of the resort.

We can’t wait to visit again!

Room felt like it was lacking maintenance and didn’t have the cleanliness and quality you would expect for the price. While we were staying at the resort it was undergoing maintenance/minor refurbishments. Staff were okay nothing exceptional and nothing bad. Location is amazing, has a couple of great walks and great snorkelling with lots of large fish, turtles and coral.

Extremely disappointing experience at Fitzroy Island Resort. My friends and I arrived on Sunday, September 3rd, with a confirmed reservation to camp — excited and ready for a relaxing girls’ weekend. But just minutes after getting off the ferry, the General Manager, Dallas Bickle, approached us with an aggressive attitude and told us to leave the campground immediately. No explanation, no respect.

We later found out our reservation had been cancelled without warning, simply because another group with minors had booked, and suddenly “no one else was allowed to camp.” We were given two unfair choices:
1. Get a refund and leave the island — after taking time off work and traveling all the way from Port Douglas.
2. Pay extra to stay in a bungalow — which by law, should have been offered to us at no extra cost since the mistake was theirs.

We spent over two hours trying to resolve this at reception. The bungalow we were forced to take wasn’t properly cleaned, lacked pillow covers, and our belongings were delayed.

We lost our precious time and energy on something that should’ve been handled with basic professionalism and respect.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve had — and it happened in a place that’s supposed to be a paradise.

We stayed at this resort in August, which has only its unique location to envy, which we can only thank the island for. The resort seems poorly maintained, as if the people who run it don't care. We entered the room, there was a pill on the floor, a dirty handkerchief under the bed, and hairs in the bathroom. We notified reception at 3:00 am when we entered, they apologized and told us someone would come to clean, which never happened, and at 6:00 pm when we returned to the room it was the same as before. We repeated this to reception and she said she would call again, but at that point we wanted to enjoy the room we paid for and not sit outside waiting for it to be cleaned. It was a terrible experience, a shame, but if it were run by people with great ideas, it would be a luxury resort.

Great snorkeling Lovely coral on the snorkel trip at Shark Bay and off the beach in front of the resort. Nice views from the walk to the summit. Not much sound insulation between rooms and our shower was badly in need of a decent clean, but other than that we enjoyed our stay.
