- Cairns to Fitzroy Island: Please make your way directly to the Fitzroy Flyer to check-in. Guests will be required to show the QR code in their confirmation prior to boarding the ferry. The Fitzroy Flyer is located at Berth 20 on the Marlin Marina Wharf.
- Intro Snorkel & Safari Tour: Please check-in at the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub (FISH) on Fitroy Island, located next to the Resort Pool.
- Fitzroy Island to Cairns Ferry: Make your way directly to the jetty at least 15 minutes prior to the transfer departure time.
- Basic swimming abilities.
- Stinger Suits, essential during stinger season, are included for the full day with this product.

FERRY CHECK-IN
Please make your way directly to the Fitzroy Flyer to check-in. Guests will be required to give their booking name to the boat crew prior to boarding the ferry. The Fitzroy Flyer is located at Berth 20 on the Marlin Marina Wharf. Please arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to departure. Check-in closes 15 minutes prior to departure.
ALCOHOL POLICY
Fitzroy Island Resort is a licensed venue, and bringing alcohol to the Island is strictly prohibited. Our Food & Beverage Outlets, including Zephyr Restaurant, Foxy’s Bar, and the Pool Bar, offer an extensive menu of alcoholic beverages for purchase, which can be enjoyed on-site. Additionally, we offer a bottle shop service from Foxy’s Bar and have a small general store for basic conveniences. Any alcohol brought to the Island will be confiscated and stored until your departure.
LUGGAGE POLICY
Passengers are permitted to bring aboard one large suitcase and one carry-on bag per person. Hard Eskys, Cooler Boxes, Stand Up Paddleboards & Sea kayaks are strictly prohibited. Beach Trolleys must be folded and emptied before boarding. Any additional equipment beyond the mentioned allowance will be subject to additional fees. Passengers are responsible for ensuring that their luggage complies with these regulations and understand that failure to do so may result in refusal of carriage or additional charges.
SERVICE DISRUPTIONS
Vessels in use may change due to maintenance, upkeep or other unforeseen reasons. It is the responsibility of all passengers to check carefully for any communication from us, as the location of the vessel as well as the check-in process may be affected. Should there be any disruptions, the team at Fitzroy Island will take necessary measures to communicate this information with you.
FULL-DAY TOUR
This tour includes your return transfers from Cairns, a 2 hour & 15 minutes Intro Snorkel Adventure lesson & Guided Snorkel Safari Tour, as well as the snorkel equipment rental for the remainder of the day. Please check-in at the Fitzroy Island Sports Hub (FISH) located opposite the Pool Bar for your intro lesson & guided snorkel safari tour. Should there be any disruptions to any component of this package booking, then an alternative date or tour/activity will be offered for that component prior to processing a refund. If the passenger accepts the alternate arrangement, no further refunds will be authorized. Tours may sometimes be affected by adverse weather conditions.

Extremely disappointing experience at Fitzroy Island Resort. My friends and I arrived on Sunday, September 3rd, with a confirmed reservation to camp — excited and ready for a relaxing girls’ weekend. But just minutes after getting off the ferry, the General Manager, Dallas Bickle, approached us with an aggressive attitude and told us to leave the campground immediately. No explanation, no respect.We later found out our reservation had been cancelled without warning, simply because another group with minors had booked, and suddenly “no one else was allowed to camp.” We were given two unfair choices:
1. Get a refund and leave the island — after taking time off work and traveling all the way from Port Douglas.
2. Pay extra to stay in a bungalow — which by law, should have been offered to us at no extra cost since the mistake was theirs.
We spent over two hours trying to resolve this at reception. The bungalow we were forced to take wasn’t properly cleaned, lacked pillow covers, and our belongings were delayed.
We lost our precious time and energy on something that should’ve been handled with basic professionalism and respect.
This was one of the worst customer service experiences we’ve had — and it happened in a place that’s supposed to be a paradise.

We stayed at this resort in August, which has only its unique location to envy, which we can only thank the island for. The resort seems poorly maintained, as if the people who run it don't care. We entered the room, there was a pill on the floor, a dirty handkerchief under the bed, and hairs in the bathroom. We notified reception at 3:00 am when we entered, they apologized and told us someone would come to clean, which never happened, and at 6:00 pm when we returned to the room it was the same as before. We repeated this to reception and she said she would call again, but at that point we wanted to enjoy the room we paid for and not sit outside waiting for it to be cleaned. It was a terrible experience, a shame, but if it were run by people with great ideas, it would be a luxury resort.

Great snorkeling Lovely coral on the snorkel trip at Shark Bay and off the beach in front of the resort. Nice views from the walk to the summit. Not much sound insulation between rooms and our shower was badly in need of a decent clean, but other than that we enjoyed our stay.read moreread less

Unbeatable location, plus the place is pretty nice, too The whole package of this place is pretty spectacular, and I would say an optimum stay would be 2-4 nights max, with 3 probably ideal. The best parts of this place are 1) location 2) staff 3) service integration.
1) This location is easily accessed via ferry from Cairns, and had enough to do from snorkeling, kayaking, walking/hiking, a pool, and live music on weekends. If weather isn't great, can do a hike instead of going to the water. The beach/ harbour right in front of the resort has great coral and snorkeling, which is as convenient as could be. I was debating Fitzroy Island vs Green Island, and I was drawn to the variety of activities on Fitzroy.
2) Service staff were all very helpful and pleasant, and they seemed genuinely happy to help without being overbearing. This made a big difference. They also seem to work well together.
3) The Fitzroy Flyer being connected to the resort made things convenient with schedules and payment, and the FISH sports hub was a one-stop-shop to get connected with various equipment and experiences for hire. Having these integrated made everything so much easier and smoother. The Zephyr restaurant was also nice to have, along with a more bar feel with Foxys.
My only gripe or comment would be to calibrate expectations on the whole "resort" side of things. My room looked a little dated from the 90s though admittedly luxurious with a gorgeous brown and white marble bathroom, and Zephyr as a restaurant has some ambitious menu ideas but with an execution a step below a proper high end restaurant. With the only option on the island, I don't know how much one should quibble, as the overall experience was still pretty great. I just know some people want everything super pristine and sparkling new, which this isn't necessarily. I would happily recommend this to anyone who goes in with that understanding.

The highlight of our stay was the exceptional dining experience at Zephyr Restaurant. A huge compliment to Chef Valerio, who consistently delivered top,quality dishes perfectly cooked and always served on time. His passion and skill truly elevated our stay.

I recently stayed at the resort for three nights and had such a lovely time! The views were absolutely beautiful, making it the perfect place to relax. A special mention to Zephyr Restaurant — the highlight of our stay! Every meal was a delight, and the service was outstanding. Great location (even if the room was a little bit old), you can snorkel and swim on the reef with the turtles (if you are lucky), there is a nice 5 ish km walk to the lighthouse and the summit (beware it’s steep). It’s very nice to swim early in the morning before having breakfast. You can have breakfast and diner in the very good restaurant.

Island is nice, accom could be better When we arrived we were told we would get an email when our room was ready, we never got that email so had to line up. We were missing pool towels and when we enquired to get some the next day we were promised they would be delivered but never showed. When we asked one of the cleaners they could only give us 1 towel to share. The bathrooms could have done with a better clean down, and no face cloths are given.The walks around the island, the beaches, glass bottom boat tour and turtle tour were great tho. Had a lovely meal at Zephyrs, and enjoyed Foxys bar too

We didn’t slept in the resort, but we booked the safari snorkel experience and it was stunning! Our guide was so nice and competent. We did a beefing before hop on the boat: she explained us what we could see on the reef, all the different types of turtles, fishes and corals.
When in the water she was always with us making sure everyone was okay. She spotted a turtle and a beautiful sting ray that was hidden under a rock.
It was a beautiful experience that we highly recommend!

Horrible rooms The island is stunning, the water is beautiful. Saw turtles, loads of fish and sharks was amazing :) But the rooms are horrible. I booked the most expensive room style/ room 109. As online it looks nice and refurbished compared to the rest. But this is not true. The rooms are very old, bed is so uncomfortable the mattress is hard and soft in all different places. They need to get new ones. Had the worst sleeps. Stayed for two nights. The staff is very rude. There’s no wifi or phone service in the room. The breakfast is very basic and only buffet available even tho online there are other options this is not true. They stop selling cocktails at the pool bar at 4! That’s odd!read moreread less

A poor resort hotel in fantastic surroundings Please don't misunderstand my rating, this is a truly lovely Island with stunning scenery and snorkeling, and for that you must visit. My review is on the Resort hotel which could be great but unfortunately doesn't achieve good. We stayed for 4 nights in both a standard room and Island suite and if you can afford it the Island suite is a big step up in regards of facilities and of course a beautiful view (or at least ours was) The rooms in general are in serious need of maintenance, lights missing, door handles coming off in your hands, cracked tiles, tatty furniture, rust on some metal surfaces and a whole lot more. The housekeeping isn't at all good, floors left unswept, glass not clean, bathroom not properly cleaned. This unfortunately goes for the rest of the resort, areas of work materials with no apparent work going on, broken tiles, glass around the pool, shop and all doors filthy. We found the reception staff helpful and friendly but this is where customer service finishes. Apart from the odd member of staff at breakfast the general resort staff are at best uninterested and bored and at worst surly and rude. The bar areas in particular seem the worst and is something that would stop us ever returning. The whole resort feels like it has no senior management with an eye for detail and customer service and relies totally on it's beautiful surroundings. A small example of complete lack of training and management is in the daily routine at the pool bar. When the shift ends the bar person just locks up and walks away leaving any cleaning and restocking of fridges for the following morning shift. This means that every day the majority of the canned/bottled stock (no taps in use here!) is warm and takes the session to get cold instead of the standard practice of restocking the day before so you always have cold stock. Just one of many poor practices but I have said enough.
In summing up there is a major issue with the mostly back packer staff, whether motivation, pay, conditions or complete lack of training I am not sure but it ruins what could be a lovely place.

Went kayaking and snorkelling and saw sharks,turtles& stingrays whilst learning about the coral so it was a lovely experience.
Had food at foxys bar both nights which was basic however delicious. Drinks were fairly priced too!
The cherry on top of our stay was that I actually forgot some clothes in our room after our stay and I was emailed instantly and was able to collect next day.

Solid place but I would definitely just suggest one or two days here.
The summit is great and the views were tremendous. Breakfast is alright but the evening meal becomes a bit basic and they don’t know how to cook a steak unfortunately.

Great Island stay Great Island stay, enjoyed it immensely.Great Room spacious with comfortable bed. Bathroom was a bit dated, but was a relief after spending hours snorkeling. Adequate kitchen for those who plan to stay for long periods. But you will have to bring supplies (no alcohol) with you. We utilised the “island package” which included free use of kayaks and snorkeling equipment plus breakfast.
Restaurant had a set menu which was expensive but great food. But there is a general store with minimal items, as you would expect for an island. And Foxy’s bar and grill, which is again expensive. During the day resort guests can’t use the restaurant as the day trippers have it reserved. The glass bottom boat tour was exceptional, and our guide Ethan was fabulous and extremely enthusiastic when we spotted a large green turtle. Also a turtle rehab is on the island which you can get an informative session on.There is a couple of nature walks which would be pleasant during cooler timings. We enjoyed our time here immensely.

Lovely island but the food for children was terrible. My extended family and I (six adults and five children) have recently returned from five nights on Fitzroy Island. We had perfect weather and we all had a great time swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving (for some of the adults), glass bottom boat trip, etc. HOWEVER, the food for children, except for breakfast was terrible, and nutritionally inadequate! There were only three choices at both restaurants, two of which were the same at both restaurants. While Zephur's childrens' food comes with vegetables, they consisted only of cubed, fried potatoes (not much different to chips) and green beans. The children could not eat the beans as they were too "spicy", and we had to send them back and get plain beans served. There was no ability to order a side dish of salad vegetables or any other cooked vegetables at either restaurant, for children or adults. The General Store was hopeless, as apart from a couple of types of sandwiches each day and little packets cheese and crackers, they sold only junk food and a few souvenirs. The rooms were spacious, but in the Beach Cabin in which I stayed the curtains were very worn and tatty, and unable to be attached to the curtain rail properly (not a good look!) For anyone contemplating going especially with children, I would recommend taking an insulated bag or two with fresh milk (as the Island only has UHT milk), some salad vegetables, fruit and other healthy snacks.read moreread less

Fitzroy Paradise Wow- the island is amazing and the resort is beautiful. The staff are fun and interested in the guests. The rooms are clean and anything extra we needed was quickly supplied. For basic cleanliness and management of an island resort we were not encouraged to keep food in our rooms. We brought breakfast basics which were easy to store. Nice island, average resort Fitzroy Island is beautiful, our second visit.The resort however leaves a lot to be desired. I rate it as a 3 star resort at 5 star prices.
After waiting for 45 minutes to get into our penthouse apartment to staff reluctance in handing over enough coffee pods for our group of 8.
At $1,700 per night we expected better attention to detail.
The meal at the restaurant was nice, the meals at the bistro are basic & expensive.

Mixed feelings this time round This was my third stay on Fitzroy Island because it is a beautiful spot, with wonderful snorkelling and swimming just off the beach and a 'resort feel' at a moderate price. First, the good stuff. We stay in the apartments - which have a stunning view over the water, to the west, from the bedroom and balcony, and are clean and spacious. All staff were friendly and helpful. Sadly, this time, our apartment (and the resort generally) was quite rundown and in need of some TLC: broken and wobbly floor tiles, flickering light inside the entrance foyer, one of the bedside lamps was missing (criminal for people who like to read at night!), and, as usual, very few cooking utensils (including no bowl for a salad) in the kitchen.
We had a lovely dining experience at the Zephyr Restaurant but Foxy's Bar (the only other alternative for eating) was looking decidedly shabby, with a shortage of tables at times and a bit grotty at others. I’m no longer comfortable to recommend Fitzroy Island to friends.
Despite communicating these views privately with the hosts, and requesting an acknowledgment (to be assured they had received it) I have had no response. Hence this (reluctant) review.

3.5 stars! Beautiful location and decent hotel Fitzroy island is a beautiful destination a short cruise from Cairns. The resort Is comfortable and clean however it is definitely showing its age across the board. The Welcome bay suite was great with a lovely view through the trees to the beach. We are close enough to the water that you can hear the waves breaking. Lovely. The bed was fine and so was the bathroom. The room has an oven and some cooking supplies and if we ever came again I would do some cooking. The snorkel safari was excellent and worth going to the better locations. The glass bottom boat was great. The beach is lovely and Nudey beach was divine. The pool is nice but cold and the swim up bar closes at 4pm not 5.30pm as signed but all very enjoyable.
Before I review the dining please note that whilst food is expensive i totally acknowledge that it is expensive to provide remote location food and services so I understand the price tag.
There are LIMITED dining options and whilst Zephyr is nice with a beautiful outlook, the lack of vegetables was frustrating. (Prob ok for one night but multi night stay needs more greens!). Zephyr provides a buffet breakfast which is unfortunately pretty poor with scrambled eggs and poached eggs being cooked at 6,30am and not refreshed! I asked for a boiled egg and this was not possible. 2 hour old scrambled eggs are revolting. The fresh fruit platter was good though and there was an array of pastries.
The general store is dreadful and has very few provisions. Foxy bar is a lovely location and the drinks are quite nice. The food is basic and ok.
All up we really enjoyed our trip and would recommend as an easy holiday for a family.

Unfriendly Staff I would recommend only traveling to the island for a day trip to avoid interaction with the staff. The island itself is stunning, however, the staff were the worst I’ve ever experienced. We stayed 4 nights and all 4 of those nights the bar closed at 8:30pm or earlier even though we were a group of 10 purchasing regular drinks. On two occasions we watched the bar staff close up to go and drink with the other backpackers. Staff had no manners and seemed unhappy to be there, unfortunately having to interact with them at every meal really put a dampen on our holiday. Would not recommend staying, only visiting.

The actually island is so beautiful and idyllic! The staff were all so friendly and this review is not a reflection on their reception team as they were lovely. I would just recommend visiting the island for a day and not booking to stay.
It seems the resort hasn’t fully recovered from the cyclone last year with water damage, but they do need to provide some transparency on the condition of the rooms when you book. We actually cut our losses and left on the same day and didn’t stay in the accommodation we had booked.
The resort itself is very run down, overpriced and unclean. Our room was dirty and absolutely reeked of mould. There was mould in the bathroom with no proper ventilation. There wasn’t a proper window in the room it was so dingy, it felt like a prison. Considering this room was near $300 per night this does not reflect the quality or cleanliness. I have stayed in multiple hostels in various countries, and this is by far the worst room conditions I have seen.
The foxy bar area was really run down, and it was a shame to see food containers and cans littering the area around here, like it had been lying there for weeks. The food was very overpriced and the chicken burger we received was lukewarm and soggy. It really feels like the whole resort is a bit of a scam.
It seems the resort hasn’t fully recovered from the cyclone last year with water damage, but they do need to provide some transparency on the condition of the rooms when you book. We actually cut our losses and left on the same day and didn’t stay in the accommodation we had booked.
The resort itself is very run down, overpriced and unclean. Our room was dirty and absolutely reeked of mould. There was mould in the bathroom with no proper ventilation. The number of negative reviews posted online about the resort had me expecting to be very disappointed but on the contrary we were pleasantly surprised. From our boat ride on the Fitzroy Flyer to checkin and stay in our Island Suite, we were given great care. The staff were helpful, friendly and made a big effort. Our room was light, clean and comfortable. The restaurant food was good. The resort wasn’t perfect but it certainly exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful island with fantastic views on the beach. Walking paths around the island are not well looked after with messy and died corals. Snorkelling and exploring the rain forest are most interesting in visiting this island. Service in the restaurant is not nice as expected but something in rush. This makes travellers feel not to be a guest. Improvement should be taken soon to gain back the value of a reef island.

Best Family Reunion ever. My favorite spot for staycation. Organizing a family trip is not easy but special thanks to Rodney who has been really helpful from reservations up to check in and check out. Yes, he did it all. We were allocated to rooms close to each other which is really handy. The views from Level 2 island suites rooms are just amazing. Pool bar is perfect to relax specially when the sun is out. And yeah we spotted a whale during our stay!! Waking up earky in the morning to see sunrise is such a peaceful view too. Adjust your expectations Weather dependant, the island has limited activities. Definitely do all of the walks. Nudy beach is the best visual location for swimming, sunsets and has some sand. A mould issue in the rooms; especially be aware of the rooms that aren't facing the water.read moreread less

Location fantastic! The rooms are terrible, mould ridden. We arrived on the island at 0930am told check in was at 1500pm- very poor service. Given a room at 1230pm which was dark ,dank, stunk of mould. Very poor room indeed. Asked for a change of room , to be told it would be some time before it was ready. Food was average at best, staff didn't seem to give a stuff about guests who
had paid good money to stay. Do not , I repeat do not give the resort your money. Do a day trip and enjoy the island . The hotel is dated, dirty , the staff are rude , ignorant and don't care. I will not recommend or advise anyone to stay here , save your money - extremely poor.

Beautiful location - poorly kept accomodation The location is beautiful, however the experience was let down by the terrible cleaning service. Perhaps the cleaners need retraining as customers visiting a 4 star resort should not have to walk past bags of dirty linen and rubbish after the cleaners have finished for the remainder of the afternoon and the rest of the night. Island Paradise The island is beautiful with a lot to do in terms of walks, hikes, snorkeling and swimming. Don’t spend too long in the rooms, get out and enjoy. Nudey beach (not technically a nudist beach) is a lovely 15m walk but busy and popular. If you head the other way to the far end white rock/ bird rock the snorkeling is amazing. For the fit, you must to a walk to the lighthouse or summit, or simply kick back and relax.read moreread less

Fantastic Zephyrs restaurant was the jewel in the Fitzroy crown with fantastic food and waitstaff. The resort was clean and rooms well designed. Fantastic pool area and good variety of things to do. Beautiful place to relax We enjoyed a few days in Fitzroy with my family. Totally recommended. Surrounded by nature. We stayed in the bangalows. A compact and budget option. Even though they need a bit more maintenance and a stove would be helpful when cooking. It’s only equipped with a little bbq.
As regards activities to do during your stay, we enjoyed our time snorkeling and hiking. We recommend going snorkeling during day time to Turtle bay. After sunset you can also enjoy the resort pool, with really good views.
The staff was helpful and friendly.
Overall we totally reccomend Fitzroy to relax and disconnect

3 day package on Fitzroy Usland Rainforest island with limited walking tracks (2/3 rated difficult) and accessible beach areas. Healthy food options also limited. Main restaurant costs min $132 per couple for dinner, although the meals were very good. No continental breakfast options on offer which was disappointing as I love my cereal, fresh fruit and tea & toast. How hard is that to provide??

Fitzroy Island is good for a day visit. Do not book reservations at resort. The trails are blocked with trees and was unable to hike the nature trails. Very poor receptionist, I'm a local and never received a locals discount.
Foxy bar had basic beverages and food. I recommend doing daily visits to island and not staying at resort.

Very beautiful part of the world. Be sure to check online hotel resellers before booking directly with the hotel. In my case, online booking was cheaper and I only found this out after I had made my reservation. I brought this to the attention of hotel staff and they said there was nothing they could do in any way. I was thinking when I booked that I was heading to an eco or environmental-focused resort but it’s not really like that. There are just two hikes—one is very short and easy and the other very steep and challenging. Other than that, the snorkeling is directly in front of the resort—nice but not really worth the trip. Most of the guests are families with small children where the kids run around the pool and the parents chat by the pool bar. I would recommend this resort more for people who love cruise line-type vacations—who want to be somewhere nice but don’t really want to venture too far away from the base. The non-view rooms have absolutely no view at all as you need to keep your curtains closed for privacy. Unless you want to take all your meals in the two restaurants, I recommend bringing anything you might want with you since the General Store is quite pricey and not well stocked. The BBQ facilities were quite poorly equipped and really could be upgraded if anyone is to use them—perhaps a small kitchen room is needed? When I was there, the resort seemed relatively empty as it was in low season—I imagine the vibe is fairly crowded and frenetic during the more popular seasons.

Disappointing Babymoon at Fitzroy Island Resort - Beautiful Island, Subpar Accommodation
My partner and I were drawn to Fitzroy Island Resort by the promise of a relaxing and idyllic babymoon experience. While the island itself lived up to its stunning reputation, our stay at the resort unfortunately fell short of expectations.
Pricey Essentials: Despite friendly staff. Basic amenities like snorkel gear, essential for exploring the reef, were surprisingly expensive at $24 per person per day. Additionally, the snorkelling tour are charging $60 per person and felt more mandatory than optional, given the limited activities available on the island.
Gloomy Accommodations: Our first-floor studio room left us feeling disappointed. Lacking natural light due to its position facing a walkway veranda and a hill it felt gloomy, unwelcoming and dark. The bed, advertised as a queen-size, was clearly two singles pushed together, resulting in an uncomfortable centre seam create a lump that made it very uncomfortable.
Unsanitary Conditions: The persistent smell of Mould throughout the room, particularly in the poorly ventilated bathroom, was concerning, especially for a pregnant woman. This, along with the broken towel rail, dirty shower, and cockroaches scuttling near the rusty bin on the dirty bathroom floor, significantly impacted our ability to relax and enjoy our stay.
Dining Dilemma: The food experience at the island were extremely pricey. The food prices at the foxy’s bar and restaurant were expensive. For example: the price for a normal hamburger with a side of chips was $28 not including a drink. The a la carte dinner at Zephyrs Restaurant was a little more expensive, but better-quality food. In comparison to the foxy’s bar and restaurant. You also must make a dinner reservation in advance to dine at Zephyrs Restaurant. The general store is also expensive to purchase small items like bottled water, chips and ice cream etc.
Silver linings: Despite the downsides, the natural beauty of Fitzroy Island was undeniable. We enjoyed snorkelling amidst the vibrant coral reefs and exploring the lush island trails.
Verdict: Our experience at the resort was far from anything but relaxing or luxurious. From overpriced essentials, gloomy accommodations, to unhygienic conditions and expensive dining, our babymoon was marred by disappointments. We cannot recommend this resort to anyone seeking a truly enjoyable and relaxing tropical getaway.

Don't call yourself a resort it's not.
You have to pay for everything, a LOT of other resorts don't make you pay for things like fins and snorkels.
WiFi sucks. who in 2023 doesn't install WiFi extenders?!?!?
Just day trip it. Go for a snorkel and experience the natural beauty the island has to offer. Don't give your $$ to the resort.

After trying to receive a partial refund due to cyclone Jasper, the staff (Bridget, Sabrina, and Makaila) were extremely rude, showed no level of customer service and simply said that “they are the terms and conditions you signed”. I lost 100% of my money.
All other resorts in Cairns and Port Douglas were very helpful and understanding of the cyclone aftermath.
On principle alone, I will never consider or recommend this resort.

The island is amazing as always. But the room was not clean (sand everywhere when i checked in). It was also the least welcomed I have ever felt arriving to an island. I was here as part of a work Christmas party, but I was also scoping the island for a potential wedding venue. Based on the service of the staff at reception, the restaurant, and foxys, I would not feel comfortable that an appropriate job would be done for a wedding. I spoke to another couple who also agreed the service was abysmal and they were forfeiting their last night because of it.
The room was also very noisy.
Such a shame. So much potential but let down by the staff.

Fitzroy Island itself is beautiful! The best snorkelling I've experienced. An underwater rainbow garden of coral with more fishes than an aquarium. Turtles, reef sharks, rays.. Underwater was stunning. The resort is definitely run down and lacks standard maintenance, we stayed in a welcome bay suite, but you feel like you're on an island. It's not glamorous but it's "Island-ish"... Food is good, but expensive. Get the package that includes dinner, breakfast and transfers, it's well worth it. The service was mostly poor.. A rare few staff were amazing, but the majority were rude, under trained and we felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there.. Especially in the main restaurant.. Would I go back, absolutely for the snorkelling... But I think 3 nights would be enough.

The food and service at Zephyr restaurant was exceptional. Amazing Staff. Fernanda and Juan went above and beyond. So did the rest of the staff, I just didn’t get everyone’s names.
We had the 71sqm room that was very large and more than adequate. Spacious, clean, with a beautiful large balcony to sit and watch the water and bird life.
Value for money is exceptional.
We both love being active, so we climbed to the peak of the mountain 3 times in our 4 night stay. Only recommended if you have good to excellent fitness levels.
Nudey beach track is a nice walk with a beautiful beach at the end.
This is the start of the stinger season, so stinger suits are needed.
The resort rent them out for $12 a day.
This is the ultimate stress free island, just what I was expecting.
We managed to do a lot in 4 days.
You can also just do nothing and leave the island feeling refreshed.
I will be coming back again as soon as I can.

Fitzroy Island is a beautiful place to visit but I would not recommend staying at the resort instead would recommend a day trip. Never book a bungalow as we had to walk on a dirt path past the resort and past a camp ground to a dirty container like room in the woods. We then changed to a hotel room but were very disappointed as the room smelt like mould and was in desperate need of a clean and refurbishment. The room door was falling apart, the leather couch had mould and dirt all over it and the shower and bathroom wall looked as though they had never been cleaned and the bed was not comfortable. Majority of the hotel was falling apart and needed a thorough clean and/or replacement.

Paradise! We loved our stay at Fitzroy Island Resort. As a couple who loves to relax by the water with a nice drink, this was the perfect place for us. The facilities at the resort are great and the location couldn't have been more magical. The food at Zephyrs dinner service was definitely a highlight, as well as enjoying Foxy's cocktails right on the beach with crystal clear water lapping at our feet. Great spot. Our medium expectations were overwhelmed ! We quite enjoyed our stay. Fitzroy Island Resort is challenged by supporting itself from power, internet, water and waste water. This is not a 5 star resort in the middle of the Caribbean on the Med. it is on the brink of the Great Barrier Reef, with a calming environment, great food, very clean rooms and enough activities to keep you busy for 2 or 3 days. The food was above average, the room was newly renovated and clean. The staff are very friendly and happy to please. The resort could use a few more staff to clean the glass railings, window and walkways. The maintenance staff look like they have worn the same pants for 20 years.. Filthy run down island Absolutely disgusting, we have been travelling through qld and visiting multiple islands. Fitzroy island resort looks like it hasn’t had a deep clean in 20 years. Boat ride over was also disgusting. Lots of rubbish around the resort near the pool, dirty glass everywhere, mouldy, dirty furniture in the rooms. Best island escape in FNQ Fitzroy Island is just a short boat ride out from Cairns but a mini oasis for the weary. You can do as little as you like lazing by the excellent pool or take part in a variety of walks and water activities. The staff are friendly and attentive. The rooms (one bedroom suite the better option) are comfortable and clean and while some aspects are looking a little tired, renovations are underway to update. The location is beautiful! The grounds need to be looked after and updated. The walks to the room, the floor feels like it's going to break underneath you, the wet suits are ripped and well used, the products in the room and 2nd class items. Our room, the bins are rusty, the shower water pressure isn't enough to wash suds off your body, the fresh room has slippery floors, mould in shower, toilet seat falling off and tiles, carpets terribly stained, walls market, beds are comfortable, room was comfortable with internet and TV and aircon. Food wasn't the best, drinks take forever to be served, food is fast served, swim up bar was awesome!
