Join a 2-hour beginner group surf lesson with Margaret River Surfing Academy, led by Western Australia’s most credentialled surf school team. Our beginner group lessons are the perfect introduction for first-time surfers, families, and visitors looking to experience the ocean with expert guidance.

You’re all set — and we can’t wait to have you in the water with us.
I’m Simon, founder and head coach at Margaret River Surfing Academy. Whether this is your first time on a board or you’re getting back into it, we’re going to make sure it’s an experience you don’t forget.
Here’s everything you need to know before your session:
What to bring: Swimwear, a towel, sunscreen (SPF 50+), and a water bottle. That’s it — we take care of everything else. Surfboards, wetsuits, and rash vests are all provided.
Where to meet us, The Rivermouth Car Park (Prevelly) as our main beach. If there is a change to the location of your lesson, you will receive an email or text to meet at either Gracetown or Grunter’s Beach at Prevelly. This will put you in the best possible location on the day.
What time to arrive Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your session start time so we can get you fitted with the right equipment and run through our ocean safety briefing before we hit the water.
On the day Every session starts with a land-based ocean safety briefing — we cover rip currents, wave reading, board safety, and entry and exit. Then we’re in the water together for the full session. Our coaches are with you the entire time — nobody gets left to figure it out alone.
