Big landscapes, ancient land, layers of history and those small moments that make you stop, look properly and realise how much you usually miss.

Meryl is warm, funny and extraordinarily generous with her knowledge. She shares stories of the land, culture, people and history in a way that feels rich and deeply grounded, but never heavy. There was laughter, plenty of questions, time to wander and no sense of being hurried from one place to the next.

We stopped. We listened. We looked closely. We drank it all in.

I came home with dusty boots, a very full camera roll and a much deeper appreciation for Wallaroo and this remarkable part of the world I get to call home.

What a day.

We had a fantastic day exploring a variety of unique historical, botanical and geographic sites within the Carnarvon ranges area, made fun and so interesting by our (small coach) driver and ecological guide, Meryl. Our small group was entertained with facts, fun and interactive stop-offs and Boobook Explore supplied a superb morning tea, lunch & drinks. There was even a luxury Glamping Retreat available on a huge Station - we'll be sure to stay there when we visit the area again. Thank you, Meryl and Boobook Explore, for making our trip to Roma so much more worthwhile. My husband and I highly recommend this tour.

We did a tour at Wallaroo station with 2 kids. There was only 5 of us on this day and I have to say it was the best tour I have done. Very accommodating to the 2 kids. I would highly recommend doing a day tour with Boobook.

Meryl from BooBook took us on an unforgettable full-day tour through the Queensland outback. It was a fantastic experience filled with stunning natural landscapes, fascinating Aboriginal art sites, and incredibly insightful commentary—especially about the Wallaroo site and the rich history, flora, and fauna of Australia.

Must do day tour An exceptional day and wonderful experience with Meryl. Having such a knowledgeable guide made the day exploring Wallaroo very special. Meryl's knowledge and obvious love of this country ensured the whole group walked away from the tour with greater knowledge and respect for the animals, plants, farmers, and first people of this region. Comfy little bus, delicious food, and a cuppa or two along the way. Just perfect.

I did two tours with Boobook Explore. The first was the Wildflower Wonderland, which took us to Gurulmundi State Forest. A fantastic day out. The excellent service started with the accommodation pick up, in a clean and comfortable van. Rose, our tour guide and driver, was exceptionally informative about all the wildflowers that we saw. Rose was able to identify and discuss dozens of wildflowers. Great customer service as well. The catering (morning tea and lunch) was fantastic as well. At the end of the day, I was dropped off in front of my accommodation. The second tour I did was the Guided Nature Trail in Roma. Anne, our tour guide, was a wealth of information about the Roma Bush Gardens. I can highly recommend both tours.

Last minute decision to spend my last day in Roma doing full day trip to Carnarvon range with Boobook. A good one! A very informative, relaxing and friendly small group tour. Wonderful highlights of this landscape. A day well spent and well worth the money!

Sensational Tour! Small, personal and I felt very privileged to be allowed access to this private property. Meryl has the lived experience and local knowledge of the area but more than that both her and her husband have a wealth of professional experience in environmental issues. The aboriginal art was outstanding - the views, the abundance of wildlife and the detail

Wow! What a wonderful day we had exploring the Carnarvon ranges and Wallaroo station with Meryl. The whole tour is thoughtfully planned, the sites you visit are amazing and Meryl is a fountain of knowledge! Highly recommended tour!

Booked a four day trip with a photography group that was lead by the wonderful Meryl, Craig and Eamon from Boobook Ecotours. These three are a fantastic team.

We were warmly welcomed and by the time we left, it felt like we were saying goodbye to old friends. If you're looking for a team that are passionate and extremely knowledgeable, look no further. The knowledge of Craig and Eamon with regards to flora and fauna was really impressive. What they don't know doesn't exist.

We stayed at the Wallaroo Outback Retreat (which I also highly recommend) and Craig showed us some pretty amazing places on the 72,000 acre cattle property in the Arcadia Valley. Sunrises and sunsets like you've never experienced and not a grumble about the 4.30 am start. When we decided to do some astro photography after dinner at the last minute, Craig and Eamon were happy to take us to the perfect spot.

I couldn't recommend Boobook Ecotours more highly.

Our tour of Roma, the Carnarvon Gorge, and Wallaroo Station with Bookbook Ecotours is one of the best experiences we have ever had. We feel so privileged to have discovered the beauty and wonders of this part of the Queensland outback with Craig, Meryl, and Amon.

This was so much more than a tour - it was like a trip with friends who know the place like themselves, and are enthusiastic to share their secret discoveries. It is clear that their deep appreciation of this country comes from their own history and connections, and from their qualifications and research as scientists. They obviously enjoy the tour and what they got to share with us as much as we did, and it is always shared with deep respect for the country, its history, and its ecosystem. They kept us fed and very comfortable, and were committed to giving us the best opportunities to enjoy ourselves. They took our spontaneous requests to change plans to explore something new or to linger when we wanted, and suggested changes to take advantage of the weather to get the most out of the day. We really enjoyed every moment.

We can't recommend them highly enough, and we we can't wait to make another trip with them soon!

The Discover Carnarvon Ranges Day Tour is honestly perfect as I could not fault one aspect of the entire day. It was nothing like I expected.

Craig was a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide throughout the whole day. It was an amazing experience being able to explore secluded gorges on private property and the Indigenous rock art was absolutely mesmerising. The landscapes and views across the whole day were picturesque.

Boobook tours are a must do, so head on out to Roma where there is plenty to do and see!
