An Australian experience Amazing experience. We got to experience the local life. We saw kangaroos, tableland, mareena, two views of the barron falls, karunda village a farm and ice creamery. The tour guide greg knew so much about everything.

Amazing Kuranda This trio is well worth the money, and I would recommend the skyrail up, and take the gold class train down. It quite a day , with a lots of walking around,

A True Cairns area MUST DO Bloody awesome experience! The name of the place doesn’t do the diversity of the awesomeness justice. Sooo much more than the crocs !!!

While the Down Under bus was great (I didn’t have a car), I would spend the whole day here (I love animals though). The shows and presentations are stellar & all part of a relatively low entry fee. I would have looked for public transport (cheap bus) & spent longer there.

Trip to Daintree The tour to Daintree forest was excellent and we all had a good time. We were a group of 16 and were taken on the tour in a tour bus which was very specious.

Adrian H was our tour guide and patiently explain the history of cairns and dain tree all through the journey. He had a good sense of humour and the narrative was always engaging and kept the audience captive.

The tour started at 7:30 am until 6 pm and we had a stop at mossman, crocodile ferry, daintree beach etc. the tour bus was quote spacious and the tour package included morning tea, lunch and evening ice cream scoop.

On the whole, the tour was excellent and we would never hesitate to recommend to our friends. I should say the host Adrian H was the X factor which made the trip enjoyable.

We had two tours with them. Firstly, we did Kuranda, and it was amazingly organised. Andrew was very friendly, professional, and super knowledgeable about Cairns. He kept engaging with everyone on the bus their and back it was a lovely day.

Secondly, we went on the cruise and dive tour. We snorkelled, this was also very well organised plenty of time to snorkel, lunch was great plenty of food for everyone beautiful local produce it was a fantastic day could not fault the crew at all.

Rob our bus driver was so lovely and knowledgeable with local history facts.
Afternoon at Hartley’s crocodile park felt a little rushed as we arrived on the bus later than planned. I had my five children including a 7week old baby so needed regular feed and change breaks that limited what tours we could join.

a visit to Gondwana Land Kuranda is a beautiful town with awe-inspiring nature and engineering feats. Skyrail amazing, butterfly museum out of this world, train loud but interesting history. Great day out by all.

Value for money and not boring at all. This is an excellent trip with Joe our guide. Joe had excellent knowledge of the terrain, history and knowledge. Joe was also very polite and helpful. The trip was well planned and the stops were good and the refreshments were good. We love the ice cream stop the best. Highly recommend if you like rainforests, rivers, crocodiles and isolated beaches. Very safe!!

A very enjoyable day Though the pickup was late because of no-shows we had a good time once we got to the skyrail. We went up to Kuranda on the skyrail. At the first stop of Red Peak we took a short free tour with Ranger Ash. He was very knowledgeable and we learnt and saw things we wouldn't have on our own.

Barron Falls was an amazing sight. At the village we went to see the Koala Gardens though we felt it was a little bit of rip-off for the price (AUD 38 with the 10% discount for 2 tickets). We wanted to have lunch at the Frogs restaurant but they had closed at 2 pm!

Ended up having lunch at a family run place with very friendly youngsters. A new place that opened in 2023. The picture of the sign is from this restaurant.

The scenic train back was everything that it promises and the on-train audio is clear and understandable.

The coach was waiting for us at the station.
A very enjoyable day that. Highly recommend this.

Fun with the snakes Amazing place, animals well looked after, staff friendly and very knowledgeable.

Fun with information Great to see the animals. There were really interesting talks given on snakes, crocs, cassowaries and koalas with plenty of tome to wander around and see other animals. The tour bus was on time for pick up and return. A really enjoyable afternoon.

Scott was our guide through Mossman Gorge, Daintree rainforest, and to Cape Trib. He was absolutely phenomenal. We had questions about native species of every plant, insect, mammal, everything , and he had an educational and genuine answer for each. After I showed interest in entomology he went out of his way to spot a katydid for me that we don’t have in the USA and showed me personal photos he has acquired! A very engaging and insightful guide paired with the beautiful scenery of the tour made for a delightful day. A fair bit of walking is done so if you’re older take stabilizing shoes and bring water. It is great for all ages. Highly recommended tour.

The Great Barrier Reef tour was EPIC! All of the staff on-board were really nice, funny and great with their service. The equipment was all very good, the team were professional in their approach and we saw so many amazing things!

Thank you to the team for getting us to some epic spots, underwater photographer and good food!

A must do while in Cairns Great day out while in Cairns. The rainforest is massive and breathtaking views from the sky rails . Informative talk and small boardwalk tour by a guide was well worth doing after you get off the first gondola . Plenty of places to eat at the Kuranda markets at the top . Train wasn’t working cause tracks washed out with cyclone late December so back down in the gondola.
Well worth doing for everyone.

Avoid, avoid, avoid!!

Left us waiting for 45 minutes at the pick up spot before we reached out to our travel agent and found that the tour was cancelled! Zero effort or attempts were made by down under tours to tell us that the tour was not going ahead and we booked 4 days prior!

I’m also glad we reached out as I don’t think they would have contacted us and they still haven’t contacted us to apologise!

To leave customers waiting at a pick up spot and waste a day of their holiday is unforgivable when we have such limited time here.

So many better alternatives for tour groups, such as Cairns adventure group who prioritise the customer.

We did the Cape tribulation, mossman gorge, and daintree River tour. An amazing day with our wonderful and informative guide Uta. Saw 2 crocodiles, and gained plenty of knowledge about the locations and wildlife!

Scott was a blessing to have with us as he had many stories about the place, which gave us a deeper appreciation of the forrest roads when went on

Did train to Kuranda, it was fantastic. Got skyrail back,that was fantastic too. But waited from 4.45pm for bus at 5.20pm. Was sitting at bus station and obviously bus didn't do head count and we were left to get cab at 6pm. Not impressed

Great shuttle tour! Michael was a great guide, was very friendly and had great knowledge of the area and its history. If looking for a tour of Karanda definitely book the shuttle tour with Michael. Very quick and excellent communication about bus pickups, tickets and times. Would do this again.

An Interesting Day The Sky Rail was great and each stop had interesting information. Kuranda itself was a bit disappointing as although it offered a variety of refreshments other shops were just boring tourist stuff. A bit sad.

However the train trip back was excellent with a great commentary for all English speaking visitors. A treat although expensive for families.

Excellent trip with a knowledgable guide Thoroughly enjoyed this trip. Our guide, Greg, was really knowledgable and friendly and kept us entertained with jokes the whole day. The lunch was delicious. The cruise on the Daintree river with our guide Jack was amazing and we were lucky enough to spot both a really young and an adult male crocodile. The views were stunning and it was lovely to see such an untouched and natural environment. Couldn’t finish without mentioning the gorgeous ice cream too! Highly recommend.

Rail& sky rail trip had a great trip on the train thanx to the onboard crew & drivers for the wonderful trip up yo Kuranda onboard the 1770 locomotive that pulled our train and the onboard commentary was good and very helpful hearing about the places we passed through

Gorgeous day trip to the mountains! Gorgeous day trip with beautiful views!! Absolutely stunning! The train is lovely and you gently rock your way up the mountain stopping for sights. I took the skyrail down which also was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommend this tour!

brilliant tours and guides, buses comfortable and aircon. Beautiful area, military museum largest in Southern Hemisphere, skyrail, Kuranda railway tour. Beautiful put together, pick up and drop off to accommodation.

Worthwhile trip but clarify information with your group Overall trip was good but lack of clarity by tour group on meeting point meant bus left without collecting us. Had to arrange private Uber to skyline at own cost with no reimbursement. Skyline ride and train itself interesting and rainforest tour informative.

We went on the Cape Tribulation, Daintree & Mossman Gorge Tour. We were picked up from our hotel in Cairns by a lovely driver called Daniel. He was so knowledgeable, friendly & helpful. He went out of his way to make our day special.

Awesome sights, comprehensive and even delicious tour! Highly recommended! Really enjoyed this tour. Being new locals, we wanted to experience the Daintree and Cape Tribulation with an experienced tour guide for tips and the best attractions. We learnt so much about the flora, fauna and all the wildlife! Scott was a fantastic tour guide and gave us some awesome local information as well! Really enjoyed the sights, the food was fantastic- everything was so well organised - I highly recommend this tour for tourists and locals alike!!

Awesome train ride Lovely train ride steeped in history. Wonderful scenery. I would have preferred the gold class ticket with comfy seats but sadly booked up. I have to be honest the Sky Cable and the Scenic Railway were so much better than Kuranda itself. Slightly underwhelming but the travel was speculator there and back.

Excellent day of great views and amazing animals We bought a ticket that included the railway up there and skyrail back, so we got to see two different views and in the middle we visited the Kuranda koala Gardens and saw lots of great animals (including holding a Koala which you can only do in this area of Australia).

Loved the skyrail. We purchased tickets for the scenic train up to Kuranda and the gondola back. The train up was disappointing, but absolutely loved the skyrail back. The views are amazing.

Disappointed Paid for the train up to Kuranda. I was disappointed to be honest. The train was packed and I couldn't really see much. The rainforest was nice but I wouldn't go on the train again.

Interesting rail history An interesting tour travelling by rail up to Kuranda and taking the Skyrail back.
Was fascinating listening to the commentary on how the rail line was built, and one could not imagine how difficult that must have been.
The skyrail didn't give as much of a view as expected but worth doing.
The markets in Kuranda were over rated in our opinion.

Good day out - worth doing Took the Skyrail up and gold class train back. Note that you can opt to take the train back to Cairns central if that is more convenient and not pay for the return transfer back to hotel. Spend the extra on gold class comfort and service. Pick up was spot on time and guide who took us to Skyrail was interesting and funny. Kuranda is naturally a bit touristy with the markets. I spent most of my time at the bird park and butterfly park. There was more to see at the butterfly park (if you’re short of time) and it was a bonus seeing the newly hatched butterflies being released into the aviary - very lucky with timing. Bird park - not a big area but quite a few different varieties packed into a little area. Main attraction was seeing a cassowary bird. Gold class rail on the return trip had good service and it’s not limited to 1 drink. Worth it for the extra comfort and the snacks were of good quality too.

No cash available there It was amazing! Well worth it but I was horrified to find that you can only book your tickets online or pay by card. They have no cash at all !! Any souvenirs need to be paid for by card. Discrimination and a sign of the times but being a government business, typical !!

Excellent rides and views Overall excellent. My only peeve was the not so easy way to book if you did not want the transfer bus. The website simply asks you to contact skyrail who then tell you to contact Queensland Railways directly to book that leg. Having said that this is a high quality and good value trip.
We ascended by train and returned by skyrail.
The views on both parts were spectacular.

We had a fun day out in The Daintree Rainforeat, Daintree River and Cape Tribulation! Scott was amazing! Incredibly educational! We have learnt so much about Australia's history.Only sorta buzzkill were the roadworks but we couldn't have predicted that. Scott's horrible yet funny dad jokes distracted us from that. Would definitely go again. Thank you Scott!!

Our guide Scott was excellent! He created a very friendly atmosphere, with a great sense of humour. And he really was amazing doing double job: as an exceptional driver and a brilliant guide.
There were couple of moments I would prefer in a different way. Instead of rushing at Cape tribulation and then spend 20 min on ice cream, I'd better skip ice cream, for example. Or the same story with mossman gorge: instead of morning tea I'd prefer to spend more time actually discovering it. Though all other participants were happy, and, as I mentioned before, it went exactly as it was planned. Probably, those type of excursions just not for me )

The tour was excellent. It would have been five stars if not for the train being late causing us to not have alot of time in Kuranda. However it was excellent and ended with the funniest bus trip back to hotel thanks to Paul our bus driver. He was 10/10 and made us laugh so much

Rainforest! Crocodiles! Beaches! Ice cream! Enjoyed a guided walk in Mossman Gorge, an hour cruise on the Daintree - the landscape and natural environment was amazing (we saw CROCS! and snakes and beautiful native birds)

Our lunch in the tropical rainforest was definitely a highlight!!! (definitely order the fish!)

We visited Cape Tribulation beach where the Great Barrier Reef meets the rainforest. The climb /walk to the lookout was very easy and worth the effort!

I will be sharing with everyone how terrific the Daintree ice cream is! Yum! Coconut was my favorite flavor! We also bought BAGS of the local tea too before our wonderful tour started to wind down and returned us to our respective starting points.

Our tour guide was Scott. Did we sure luck out!!! He was not only fun, informative, professional but truly cared about us all and made sure each of us had a great experience!

I’d highly recommend this tour!

Kuranda Day Trip Enjoyed both the train trip and the skyrail. Miss Kuranda Hotel for lunch ..took over an hour to get meals, which was only salt n pepper squid salad and chicken schnitzel salad. Kuranda markets was interesting.

Good outing Customer service was great throughout the service , a lot to see through the cable car , a few stops along the line included to explore the greenery and history.

Karunda markets at the end (weekends only) has a lot of food options (cafes) with many souvenir type shops, general market type shops (selling arty crafty type items). Lollie / chocolate shops , Many First Nations people playing didgeridoo and selling paintings etc. lots of families and other tourists visiting (1hr is enough to see it all, unless you enjoy browsing every shop?). There is bird , butterfly and koala sanctuary (all separate with separate admission costs , about $20 per adult) to see . Didn’t look very large or much to see , so passed on that. You could spend $$$ with the kids seeing it all.

The onto the karunda heritage rail to cairns , about 2 hours on a heritage train , comfy seats , lots of room, informative commentary, something different you wouldn’t do usually . Kids and families love it. Not a highly entertaining thing for couples , but it was ok for something different.

Good package / trip overall , do it once to experience it . Maybe visit again in 10yrs to see if anything changes.

Great experience - can't fault it Can't fault this trip. It is quite expensive but worth doing while you are in Cairns. The ticket office, station, carriages, staff, free water in each carriage, commentary, sites and beautiful views of waterfalls and lovely historic stations were wonderful. Kuranda is a quaint and interesting little place to visit. A great trip for the whole family. We caught the SkyRail back.

Spent the day with Mark from Down Under Tours, visiting the Janbal art gallery for an art lesson and a guided walk through the Mossman Gorge. The tour guide can either make or break your experience, and Mark definitely made it. Thank you Mark for a wonderful day!

A beautiful train ride through the tropics If leaving from Kuranda, you depart from a wonderfully majestic and quirky station and beautiful plants. The train cars are antique with comfortable seats and a great seat to feast your eyes on the views below. The train ride lasts about 2 hours. Definitely worth a shot if you are in the area.

A must do in Kuranda A great way to see the rain Forrest and surrounding areas. It travels at a nice leisurely pace with plenty of photo opportunities.

Cableway up - train down: a wonderful all day adventure in Cairns Selecting Skyrail first then Railway allow time for exploration at each of the stops along the Skyrail line. There is up to 4 hours between going up and coming down so there is no need to rush up so stopping to explore via a guided tour or the viewing trails or the exhibition centres at each of the Skyrail stops is an excellent way to fill in some of that time. Once in Kuranda there are several exhibits to visit (not included in Skyrail-Train price) such as the birds, koalas or butterflies. The return trip on the train is well worth the extra expense for Gold Class with free flowing drinks and food including a delicious cheese-fruit-cracker-dip platter. The vistas, commentary and one-stop for photos of the waterfall was wonderful.
The Kuranda Scenic Railway [Gold Class] and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway is a must do Cairns adventure.

Rainforest and rail. Exceptional Viatour were good as were Down Under Tours. Everything went smoothly . The Skyrail is amazing and the rainforest is beautiful. We enjoyed time in Kuranda, probably a little less time would be better. It’s a long day from 8.30 pickup to 5 pm drop off. Enjoyed the train ride on the old train. Lovely old carriage.
Go for gold class, it’s worth it. Drinks and lovely snacks and a souvenir pen and postcard to finish.

Daintree forest tour Excellent trip. Picked up from Port Douglas at 8:30 and returned at 4:30. Scott was very knowledgeable and friendly. Also quite humorous. Mossman Gorge, then tea and scones for a treat. Followed by a boat ride on the Daintree River (Saw crocs). On to Daintree forest and Cape Tribulation. Ended the day with some ice cream at the Daintree Ice Cream co.

It was amazing! Highly recommended day tours while you are visiting Cairns.

Not To Be Missed! Kuranda: Scenic Rail Gold Class, Rainforestation and Skyrail. This was a well organized trip. Skyrail takes you through the rain forest with two stops. They provide large umbrellas and it rained heavily while we were there. Beautiful waterfall at one stop.
Kuranda is a charming little town where we had lunch - many shops and a butterfly sanctuary. The Rainforestation is a wildlife park with adorable wallabies hopping around with no barriers. They feed their crocodiles just 3-4 times a week and we were able to witness one of those times. Many koalas and other animals.
Unfortunately, due to the heavy rainfall and threat of landslides, the rail portion was cancelled. Nevertheless, we felt we had already experienced a full day. Consider going in the dry season: April-November.

We went on the Daintree Dreaming Tour and loved it. Bridget, our tour guide was extremely informative, knowledgeable and personable. A pleasure to spend the day with. Our 14 year old teenager was totally engaged all day and had a great time. We highly recommend this tour.

Not a good experience… Not at all I don’t know why they call it a tour? It basically consists in picking and dropping you up at the hotel and buying the tickets
Now the tour we booked the tour at Down under Tours for a family of 5. The bus arrived with a 15 m delay( you’ll see why i’m refering this) gave us a sheet with the tickets, basic information about the times and in the back of the paper a few discounts on several atractions. So, when arriving you have to book everything on your own. There is little time to stay in Kuranda before having to return in the Skyrail. We arrived at the final station 4 min( I repeat 4 min) after the time and the bus has departed so we had to return by taxi which come out not to be so bad because I realize that it wasn’t that expensive
So my advice is ,if you are travelling in family buy your tickets online for the scenic railway and for the skyrail and then go by taxi to the station. It Will cost you less then half the price and you will have twice the time in Kuranda.
If you are travelling alone it might be worth having the tour but please, please choose another company other than Downtown Under tours

Day Tour This was a great day. Highly recommend. The bus arrived when it was scheduled. Our guide, Brigitte was great. She was extremely friendly and professional, providing details and telling us informative stories throughout the trip. The bus was modern and comfortable. I truly can’t think of how this day tour could be improved upon.
