Uncover the colourful soul of the Top End on this easy, three-hour Darwin discovery walk. Starting and finishing at the Visitor Information Centre, this leisurely journey unpacks the drama, resilience, and creative pulse of our tropical harbour city. 🌴
A True-Blue Local Perspective
Led by an expert Aussie guide who has called Darwin home for over 20 years, you will be treated to entertaining, humorous yarns and genuine local insights you simply cannot find in a guidebook. Best of all, our route is smartly mapped with refreshing stops inside cool, air-conditioned spaces along the way. 🧊
Historic Heart and Resilient Spirit
Begin with a journey back through time as we explore the weathered stonework of the historic Town Hall and the charming Browns Mart precinct. Discover the remarkable story behind the Anglican Cathedral, a symbol of local endurance that rose anew after being flattened by Cyclone Tracy on Christmas Eve 1974.
Stand high on Survivors Lookout for sweeping harbour vistas while taking in rare archival images and eyewitness stories of the 1942 Bombing of Darwin. It is a profoundly moving vantage point where survivors once stood looking down upon the burning waters and smoking ruins of a city and its ships under siege.
Parliament House Highlights
Step inside Darwin’s architectural jewel to explore:
- The soaring main hall with dramatic suspended glass pendant lights
- The impressive viewing gallery and assembly chamber
- The exact site where a WWII bomb struck the former post office, representing the first civilian casualties on Australian soil
- The post office’s shrapnel-scarred wall incorporated into the modern architecture
- The magnificent front lawn for panoramic vistas gazing out over the sparkling Arafura Sea and grand fountains ⛲
Exclusive Augmented Reality Artworks
Venture into the vivid outdoor canvas of West Lane, home to world-class street art as part of the annual Darwin Street Art Festival. We are the only tour operator on the planet with access to the iPad animated augmented reality software that brings these towering murals to life. Watch vibrant street paintings peel away from the walls, dance, and morph right before your eyes! 🎨
The Gold Rush and Opium Dens
Discover the historic Stone House and wander through remnants of old Chinatown, uncovering tales from the wild frontier era when the opium trade was entirely legal. Next, head into Austin Lane, a vibrant strip brimming with massive urban murals and fascinating local engineering history. View soaring, large-scale street art with more augmented reality that jumps from the laneway walls. Examine the architectural remnants of a classic Sydney Williams hut, an iconic corrugated-iron design engineered to withstand the harshest tropical extremes, and stroll through the nostalgic Star Arcade, the treasured site of Darwin’s first cinema.
Authentic Aboriginal Art Gallery
Step inside the award-winning Mbantua Gallery, an authentic Aboriginal art store and gallery celebrating world-class Indigenous artists. Browse stunning canvas creations, intricate craftwork, and memorable keepsakes in relaxed, air-conditioned surroundings.
Cruise Guest Peace of Mind
We conclude at the air-conditioned Visitor Information Centre, where regular free shuttles take you on a quick five-minute trip back to the wharf. We guarantee you will never miss your ship.

Yvonne was a great, enthusiastic host. If you can, I'd recommend going towards the start of your visit, so you can pick her/the guide's brain on what to do, try, and eat in Darwin.
We had a large group with a few different dietary requirements, but everyone was catered for with delicious and plentiful amounts of food. The quality and variety of food was outstanding, and the hospitality was excellent. One of our party was celebrating their birthday and Daryl and Yvonne went out of their way to make it a memorable and special experience.
In between restaurants, our guide took us around Darwin, showing us the street art. She clearly had passion and knowledge about the art, regaling us with all sorts of interesting context and stories behind the pieces.
If you are considering it, I would absolutely recommend this tour. A must do of any visit to Darwin!
The tour was very overpriced for what we got. A good spread of food at both restaurants however, it did not match the amount we paid. We would have expected a whole fish between two of us (and even then it was way overpriced) instead of between 7 people.
The 3 hours was ok although the street art only covered a small area and the app to appreciate the art was not available to us and then only limited to the tour guide so we didnt get to appreciate it as it should be.
Thanks for a great tour.
During the first food stop we enjoyed excellent examples of Vietnamese food at Ruby restaurant, then walked around the city for a couple of hours looking at and learning about the street art in Darwin and the aboriginal influences. We also visited the Parliament House and heard about the role of Darwin in world war 2.
Our final stop was at Snapper Rock , where we had amazing fresh snapper, cauliflower popcorn and crocodile!! Yvonne was nice enough to walk back with us into the city and point us towards some great places to shop for local souvenirs.
We highly recommend this tour if you have a few hours in Darwin.
To top it off, the food we had was amazing and at two of our favourite places, so this made it even more enjoyable.
Thankyou to our tour guide Richard, it was a lot of fun
Artwork was really interesting and would not have known about it without the tour
The Tour guide Katerina was very knowledgeable about Darwin itself and also its local cuisine
Reverse visits to the two properties so that you finish on a higher note.
Add nice Australian morning tea.
The food we tasted at each of the three restaurants was delicious and generous. The street art was awesome (make sure you download the AR app) and Chris’ enthusiasm and knowledge was invaluable. She also showed us several little local gems we might not otherwise have found.
One of us has some mobility issues following an injury and Chris made sure to pace the tour accordingly.
All in all one of the best luncheon experiences we have had anywhere.
Great evening food 3 courses in 3 different restaurants.
Street Art walk very interesting and informative..
Food is great and ample quantity.
Guide was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the walking between restaurants , local information from Richard and the company, and discussions with the other participants.
Great fun Street art tour with unique interactive art.
Very informative guides, Caris & Richard. Thank you.
The street art that we saw was amazing, and the app that brought some of it to life is totally fascinating.
Well done
Phat Mango with 3 selections including 2 fish and one beef.
Rubys for Vietnamese with awesome duck salad, chicken wings, and scrumptious veggies.
Snapper Rocks down by the beautiful wharf area for amazing barby red snapper, crocodile and luscious banana dessert.
The sun went down and it was beautiful evening. Darrell was fun and most knowledgeable on Darwin's history and culture. We went to bed happy and full.
Food was delicious at the restaurants we went to.
However the truly unexpected part of the tour for me was the street art, augmented by an app, so that many of them came to life via the app on your phone. Playing music or having the art interact or change. It’s a fabulous use of technology and was well explained by guide Chris.
If you can, book on this tour for your first night in Darwin, it will orient you and give you ideas about where to eat next and other places to visit that a local guide can tell you about - apparently the High Court has a spectacular mosaic floor, but I’ll have to see that on my next visit. Thanks Chris.
Coming from Melbourne where the food and art is so diverse, I was happily surprised by the quality food and colourful street art of Darwin - it really puts Melbourne CBD street art to shame.
It was worth the money for me and I was lucky to have Michael, Ella and Carol as my tour guides who are incredibly friendly and lovely to chat with. We visited Roma, Ruby and Snapper Rocks which were all great. It was a shame Phat Mango was closed on the Sunday because I’ve heard great things about it so will pop in another time.
This is definitely for the foodies who appreciate good meals, also a word of warning - there’s lots of food so skip the previous meal if you’re having lunch or dinner to make room because it’s a feast.
