This nurturing experience combines a personalised riding lesson with a scenic trail ride across beautiful farm land, offering peaceful nature encounters and breathtaking Melbourne city views. 🌾

What You will Experience

Whether you are stepping into the saddle for the very first time or looking for a gentle return to riding, this session is designed to build your confidence in a safe, supportive environment. Your experience includes a 20-30 minute introductory lesson followed by a 45-60 minute guided trail ride at a relaxed walk. 🐴

Please note that groups can be up to 15 participants and this is a beginner ride which will only be conducted at a walk. You should be a minimum of 5 years of age to participate in this session. For children aged 2-7, we also offer Learn to Ride sessions, Pony Rides and Private Tours.

Important Information

  • Clothing: Wear long pants and covered shoes such as runners/sneakers or boots. Inappropriate clothing will result in forfeit of the session.
  • Helmets: We can provide helmets (limited sizes available). Wearing a current Australian standard safety horse riding helmet is compulsory. If you require a customised helmet for any reason, you will need to advise Woodlands if anything can be arranged, otherwise you will have to provide this yourself. Not being able to wear a helmet will result in forfeit of the session.
  • Arrival Time: Arrival time is 10:15am for check-in to ensure all documents have been signed, trail group will be collected shortly after around 10:30am for briefing and mounting, ride will start at approximately 11am. Delays may occur if participants are nervous and may take longer to mount which may shorten riding time. Obtaining complimentary photo opportunity and dismount time is also included in session time so riding time may not be the full hour depending on size of the group. Latecomers of more than 15 minutes will result in forfeit of the session.
  • Horse Allocation: Horses and ponies are allocated based on availability, experience, height and weight. Any special requests may not be guaranteed for safety of the session.
  • Photos & Belongings: Instructors will take photos and/or videos and can be downloaded via a link emailed to you automatically after each session within 48 hours. Lockers will be available, otherwise leave your belongings in your vehicle as no loose items or phones will be allowed in pockets during the tour.
  • Spectators: No spectators will be allowed to enter the riding area. There is no pedestrian walking trail on our private farm property. We offer pony rides for younger children and private NDIS equine assisted sessions if the participant requires a support worker or guardian present.
  • Weight Limit: Please note our maximum weight limit at time of booking as this may change depending on horse availability. We hold a duty of care to the health, well-being and safety of both horse and horse activity participant. We do have limited horses that can carry up to 95kg. There is no guarantee of availability.

  • Booking Notice: For bookings with less than a day notice or same day bookings, please confirm availability in advance. No guarantee of availability if no advance bookings have been made, as bookings normally require more than 24 hours notice so that we can arrange suitable horses and sufficient staffing. Public holiday surcharges apply.
  • Smart Waiver: Please note the address in the confirmation email and ensure the Smart Waiver is signed prior to attendance.
