Kakadu National Park Adventure Itinerary

Kakadu is Australia’s largest national park and a must-visit for any trip to the Northern Territory. Recognized as a World Heritage site for both its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural significance, Kakadu is home to the world’s oldest living culture and some of the world’s most significant rock art. The sacred sites at Ubirr were crucial in securing Kakadu’s dual World Heritage status.

Witness breathtaking horizons from the top of a Kakadu escarpment on a scenic flight, experience the serene wilderness on a cultural river cruise, and visit iconic features that make this park world-famous. Explore the timeless culture of the Bininj/Mungguy people through ancient Aboriginal rock art at Ubirr, all while being comfortably back in Darwin by late afternoon.

Itinerary Details:

    Check-in at Kakadu Air Terminal with our friendly staff.

  • 07:30 – 09:00 AM
    Enjoy a 90-minute scenic flight with live commentary from an expert pilot. Fly over the Adelaide River, Mary River National Park, Kakadu’s South and East Alligator Rivers, coastal mangroves, and the Arnhem Land Plateau.

  • 09:00 – 09:30 AM
    Arrive at Jabiru Terminal for a short break before transferring to the Marrawuddi Art Gallery. Enjoy a cup of coffee (optional) while admiring art created by Aboriginal artists from Kakadu and the surrounding region.

  • 09:30 – 11:30 AM
    Embark on a guided bushwalk at Ubirr Rock Art Site. View ancient rock art depicting the rich cultural history of Kakadu, and climb to a rocky hilltop for panoramic views of Cannon Hill and the surrounding floodplains. Please note: This is a 1km bushwalk over uneven terrain. Some sections involve climbing over rocks. A moderate level of fitness is required.

  • 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM
    Relax and enjoy a handmade picnic lunch.

  • 12:15 – 12:45 PM
    Visit the famous Cahills Crossing. Keep an eye out for crocodiles!

  • 12:45 – 14:30 PM
    Head to the East Alligator River for the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise, narrated by a local guide. Learn about Aboriginal culture, local folklore, and the unique environment of Kakadu. You may even pick up some bush survival skills!

  • 14:30 – 15:30 PM
    Return to Jabiru Airport. Don’t forget to check out the gift shop!

  • 15:30 – 16:15 PM
    Depart Kakadu on a 45-minute flight back to Darwin.

  • 16:15 PM
    Farewell in Darwin.

There is no parking at our building so you will either need to organise a Taxi to drop you off or park in the Long Term Saver Car Park and then walk to our building. If you choose to self-drive and park in the Long Term Saver Car Park the walk is about 350 metres to our building. The cost of parking will be $29.00 for the day.
