Many of us like to explore at our own pace, kayak hire or “self guided kayaking” is perfect for singles, families, groups, kids birthday parties and staff outings.
20 mins south of Batemans Bay and 15 north of Moruya lies the Tomaga River, a unique tidal estuary dividing the small coastal settlements of Mossy Point and Tomakin. You get your choice of single or double kayaks, all equipment, a lesson, dry bag for your gear, a map and away you go exploring this safe estuary, its clear, clean water, mangroves, tidal flats and various creatures that inhabit the area including stingrays, crabs, fish, eagle rays and water birds.
The Large smooth spotted stingrays are becoming a regular attraction as they feed at the boat shed on fishermen’s scraps as they clean their daily catch. Well worth a visit!
Once in Mossy Point find our Boatshed by following the blue “kayak hire” signs to the boat ramp. Open daily 730 – 2pm. The only local place to hire a stable sit on top kayak, single or double to explore the area. You can choose to hire for 1 hour up to full day. Bookings Essential.
Please note that bookings and times will be subject to wind, weather and tidal conditions on the day.
By booking this ecotourism experience you are making a conscious decision to reduce your impact. (Ecotourism operations promote sustainable travel that benefits local communities, culture, and heritage and minimise impacts on the environment.)
To ensure you are adequately prepared for your adventure please read this info and pass it on to your group.

This company is amazing and I recommend you do any of their experiences. Every time I've dealt with them they have been professional, flexible and friendly. Good people who just want you to get the most out of life!

It was the best up close and personal views of seals of my life. I loved the connections with Josh and the other participants. Morning tea was excellent. Everything about the day was excellent.

It ticked all the boxes
- scenery was amazing (we even saw whales - well done Region X excellent organisation)
- guides were smart, informative and fun!
- accommodation was amazing - woke up to beach views and kangaroos
- food was great!
A very manageable walk for all!

Another great thing was that the tour didn’t feel rushed at all.
Saw some rays, jellyfish, black swans, oyster catchers and kookaburras ????

Our car got a flat battery just before we leave for the tour, the ladies from Region X is kind and flexible to postpone our tour with short notice.
Michael, our Kayak instructor is super friendly, super patient and super knowledgeable.
We will explore their 5-hour Kayak + snorkeling next time when we can revisit Batemans Bay.

Mike was very calm and informative. We had a great morning tea too. We hope to come and have another snorkel soon!

Don’t even contemplate, if you’re looking for something to do in Batemans Bay, you gotta check Region X out and book this tour!

We went up all the way to the estuary and kayaking through the mangrove trees, which would be the only way to explore that area in style.
The trip is also separated with small breaks and the kids were having an awesome time playing games up on the beach.
Most of all, the team was always there making sure you're looked after throughout the entire journey.
Highly recommended! Thank you for making our morning so enjoyable!

Do not miss this or you have missed the best part of one of the greatest way to explore this area

With all the meals and organisation taken care of, all we had to do was turn up and enjoy this incredible

Walking is easy with only slight grades, carry plenty of drinking water for this walk.

Such a nice experience. Thank you!

Thank you
Highly recommend

The owner of the oyster farm gave us an overview of the local oysters and harvesting techniques before letting us taste the local oysters.
Wonderful day and great valley for money.

Good exercise and beautiful views.

This company excelled with local knowledge and great eyes for spotting local wildlife on land and in water. Garren(Gaz) the guide, was a great guide! showing us what keen eyes he had for spotting the underwater life, not an easy task when camouflage plays a huge part in the sand..
The group felt safe and comfortable as all safety precautions where met. We had some newbies in the group that had never kayaked before and Gaz’s training had them off and paddling!
The Tour operator Josh was excellent in keeping the program on track and providing options for the day at hand. Josh is super flexible with keeping everyone happy. Josh even went above and beyond for me! Sharing local knowledge of secluded spots when looking to make the experience a momentous occasion for a special someone. Josh did not have to help me, but he did! Awesome stuff, a true blue company.
I would use this company again and will be passing on the good word to friends and family.
Legends!
